I'm wanting to install a gtx 980, gtx 780ti, or a gtx 970 into my 8-core (x5482) 2008 mac pro. I will be running windows 7 and yosemite on separate hard drives. Is the cooling system good enough to keep everything running at ideal temperature for these cards? If not what should I get to cool it down? Also will this mac's cpu bottleneck the performance of these cards or is it fine? If any of you have recommendations on what card I should get let me know!

Hello guys! I have one extreme build and a full mac pro, but which do you prefer and why? What i will be doing on them? Programming / game developing adobe prepmier pro music production adobe after effects cc cad- not much film production - starting youtube channel plane design simulations 3ds max / maya unreal engine Final cut pro some photoshop also i will be wotking on cad to print 3d models also i want it to be a llitle compact so i move it to my friends house to work together. Well this is what i will be doing! I mad tis build about the same price as the full mac pro so they can compete with each other! :lol: I will ALSO be doing gaming- but not too much maybe after work or when i am bored. I already have a display. Hey All, I got what i think is a true mac Pro killer. now i cant do written reviews that well so i made a video instead. sorry for the sparsity of this, but everything is in the video and i don't want to say everything twice.. But what i will say is, that this is a good thin and light laptop, with great specs in a nice 15.6" form factor. It has a awesome near 4k touchscreen, a nice Hybrid SSD storage configuration and some decent gaming firepower. for more detail check out the video!

So Bitfenix posted a DIY Mac Pro on their Facebook page, although I'd say that this one gets much better cooling and has the same looks as the original. It even features dual GPU's, but I'm not too sure about dual CPU's. Cheers

I'm working on compiling a list of builds that would be direct alternatives (edit: hardware equivalent or better) to the new Mac Pro trashcan computers and ran into a problem. There are no micro ATX motherboards that support the new Xeon E5 processors. This is important because I'm trying to fit all the builds into the Silverstone FT03S. The only board that I'm the least bit interested in is the ASUS Rampage IV Gene. Do you guys think that the Xeon E5 family would work in this board?

A bit weird to say the least. In terms of noise (Linus was looking for this), this is how it scales: At maximum power (both GPUs and the CPU loaded via furmark and rendering) it seems to be dissipating approx. 450 to 475 watts of power. Not bad at all. Main conclusion: I think the mac pro has a "unique" design, but Anand never seems to touch on the myriad of cables one must have to really expand the Mac Pro. In any case, the review is massive, truly demonstrating that AnandTech makes the best reviews in the business. Good job AT. What are your opinions? Even though I think the Mac Pro is not quite what Apple needed, I appreciate AT's in-depth coverage. This is a review worthy of such a radical change, and one that just has more information.

So the Guys over at Ifixit did their tear down on the New Mac Pro and found that it was easy to fix. Must say i'm genuinely surprised that the CPU isn't integrated/soldered on. Hello My Mac Pro 2011 connect to my Wifi and i have to internet i tried Ethernet cable afterwards and still no connection. It my first Mac i haven't used Mac i am Windows guy. The wifi work in recovery mode but not when i am using the Mac pro. Please can you help me. Thanks

I've been wanting to learn how to use adobe after effects for CGI work, Adobe Premiere and Speedgrade (I currently use Final Cut Pro for general editing) and I'm also interested running a few games on the side (with windows bootcamp, of course) and one of my strongest contenders is the Mac Pro other than of course building a PC. Any Suggestions? Use Case: Heavy Editing and very light gaming (I'm mainly a console gamer). I also have great experience with Mac OSX, so yeah. Those are the facts...

I have no idea why even apple fans are defending this price, sure this is better than any I-mac before it but for that price for the specs of a fully loaded I-mac are plain idiotic. i was looking on some other forums and people are defending the price saying that "Its PRO meaning its for professionals do these people think professional hardware is cheap!?" I don't get this either because the majority of the hardware is on the open market excluding apples afterburner accelerator card. sure there's 1.5 terabytes of ram but apple is charging $25000 for it... that's $7000 more just for sourcing and installing they make the Radeon Vega II's sound good for the price because they have 32gb of dedicated memory each but that upgrade is $10000 and 4tb of ssd storage for $1400 you can get 4 tb of m.2 ssd storage for like $400-450 depending on if you want samsung or not the only thing that i see thats at a reasonable price is there afterburner card it can supposedly run 3 8k prores raw video streams BUT IF YOU WANT WHEELS... that'll cost you another 400 Please tell me if i'm missing something but i think this is the most un-justified tech pricing i have ever seen in my entire life.
