Hi guys... I'm running out of ideas, again. I've been trying to get the S-Off on my m8, but nothing works. I've tried so far: - Firewater say the good old "whelp, this sucks, firewater can not work on your device" - revone ~$ adb shellCOLUMNS=132;LINES=64;export COLUMNS LINES;shell@m8:/ $ suCOLUMNS=132;LINES=64;export COLUMNS LINES;root@m8:/ # cd /data/local/tmproot@m8:/data/local/tmp # chmod 755 revoneroot@m8:/data/local/tmp # ./revone -Prevone v0.2.1revone failed (error code = 1) and I refuse to pay 25 bucks to some random dude on the internet so sunshine is out of the question dev stats asf: one m8 running cm 11, rooted, and the HBOOT ver. is 3.16 (is it posible to downgrade HBOOT?) s-on(obviously) I'm about to call it quits... thanks anyway.

My birthday is approaching and I've decided to get a new phone. Right now my top 2 contenders are the HTC One M8 and the LG G3; my dad has the M8 and loves it, but after a bunch of research I've started to lean towards the G3 more now. What are your guys' opinions on the two phones? PS: I know the One Plus One exists and the S5 as well, but for my tastes the two mentioned earlier fit my taste more, plus the One Plus One is hard to get from what I know.

Okay, okay. Some people have been waiting for this for quite the while. So I bring to you the review. As with my iPhone 5 review, linked here, I am going to structure it in the same manner. So then, on to the show! Pictures first.

Hello everyone, I bought an htc one m8 on the verizon edge plan (so paying full price for the phone over the duration of my contract) a few months ago. I took a train ride yesterday and had the device in my front pocket of a tighter than usual pair of jeans. I pulled the device out after arriving at my destination to take pictures and discovered that the glass over the rear facing camera was cracked. I went to the best buy where I bought it and they said to go through htc. Htc said that they do not cover this common flaw under warranty and want me to send it in so that they can give me an estimate for the repair price. At this point, I don't know what to do. I use my phone a lot and can not send it in without having a replacement (I don't have any other verizon compatible phones lying around). I also don't have much money for the repair being a college student and I am still paying verizon for the phone every month which will total nearly $700 by the end of the contract. What would you suggest? I know Linus had this issue and tried going through the support as a normal customer. Does he have a thread on this somewhere and I missed it? Thanks in advance

Hey Guys, I don't want any suggestions or something, I was just wondering what is most popular in the LTT community. Greetings

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1uEnkBd Amazon: http://geni.us/hO4 HTC sent over their One M8 - this time equipped with Windows Phone 8.1. A year and a half ago Linus tested Windows Phone for a month and decided that it really couldn't compare to iOS or Android for enthusiast use. Has his opinion changed after using the One M8?

So I recently had gotten the new HTC M8 months back but after loading some music I have been experiencing some bad playback experience while I am trying to listening to some tunes. The process goes, I begin a track from my music library, then when I want to head back to my music list, the current song either just stops playing or skips a few songs to play the next one. A messages comes up complaining "Unable to play audio file type" while trying to hit play continuously, then plays again. The music that I was able to transfer were automatically converted using the HTC management tool, but this happens to be constant or randomly, specially while I am at work. I am not sure if anyone else who has the phone has these similar issues as well, but it's really annoying lol. Please let me know.

So HTC is officially revealing the M8 in 1 hour, I'll be updating this topic as stream progresses! http://www.htc.com/www/go/launch/ While there have been leaks on the Internet of the M8, nothing is official yet. Can't wait to see what is in store from HTC for 2014!

First news post! There's a pretty interesting promotion rogers is running, where if you order your HTC One M8 on the national reservation system, that you can get the HTC One M8 prior to the launch date!, I'm unsure to how rogers is able to do such a promotion, which is rare for a Canadian carrier, but for those with rogers, and are planning to get the HTC One M8, I'd hop on this one pretty fast! The HTC All New One (2014), codenamed M8, is getting to be the worst kept secret in recent times. It's been leak after leak, the last one describing why there are two cameras on the back. There was also a lengthy video of it. Now we've got our hands on the complete and detailed specs of the smartphone. We also acquired what appears to be a sales guide depicting the key features of the HTC One (2014) and how the company's representative plan on marketing them. The HTC One (2014) will measure 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35, making it a little thicker than its main rivals. Weight is set at 160g. The screen will indeed be a 5" 1080p unit. The processor is quoted to be a quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801, while the battery capacity will be 2,600 mAh. The SIM is said to be of the nano sim variety (like on the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s, Moto X, etc.) and there will be a microSD card slot to compliment the preloaded 16 GB of storage (10GB of which will b e user available). There's no world on the camera resolution but the rest of the specs appear the same as last year's model - 1/3.0" size, f/2.0 aperture, 2µm pixel size, etc. suggesting the resolution could again be 4 MP. According to the guide the video capture is still 1080p and not 4K. There will also be a rapid improvement in the front-facing camera which will now pack 5MP sensor. A Barometer is also said to be on board, but FM Radio is a no-go. You can check out the HTC One 2014 specs page, where we've added all the new info we learned. And here's the full sales guide we mentioned earlier. We've also got hold of the key apps that sales representatives would pitch to clients in the markets where those are available. Hi guys, Question: What are the odds of the HTC One dropping in price any time soon? Specifically in line with the M8 coming out? I'm just curious because I'm getting a new phone soon and it will probably be the HTC One. I want to know if I should wait or buy it now if the price isn't dropping soon. What is the history on the prices of these phones, in relation to new releases? I believe I read that the HTC One was at $500 or so (with contract or something) for a while, then dropped to $350, at least from my carrier. So I'd assume the M8 will be $500 then drop to $350 eventually. But I'm not interested in that wait or that phone all that much. Just more so curious about the One. Any insight/help is appreciated. Thanks, Vitalius

Another day, another HTC M8 rumour, this time it comes from evleaks himself, alegedly this is how The New One will look like: Credit: http://www.gsmarena.com/the_all_new_htc_one_leaks_out_wearing_at_t_branding-news-7950.php Personaly the only thing that bothers me on this phone is that it seems that the HTC logo could be positioned somewhere else thus making this phone either shorter, or the same size with a bigger screen, or they could use the same buttons like on the HTC ONE 2013 and make more room on the screen, which would be nice... Also, this is my personal preference, but I'd like the power button to be positioned on the side like on all the normal 5"+ phones, this phone could be too big for it to be comfortable. Other than that it looks da bomb, much much better than the crappy s5 or the sony z2... Still not prettier than the LG G2 IMHO.

So I am deciding on what phone to buy, and since I have had my contract with my carrier for more then 4 years, they are offering me a free upgrade to any new device of my choice, so I need to choose, I do like the S5's removable battery and the water resistance, plus my carrier is offering to give me a free wireless charging kit if I get it, making it seem at a good value, but the HTC one(m8) does have a pretty nice body and skin, considering I dislike touchwiz I may want to go with HTC Sense, but Samsung Devices are generally a bit easier too root. In conclusion I am just really confused on what to get so I want to see if this poll helps in making my decision. Oh and just so you know, I won't really use the speakers, I prefer headset. I've just seen the new TechnoBuffalo video revealing the HTC One M8 Harman Kardon Edition. Just like older HTC "Beats" phones it only has some software to make it sound "better". Do you agree, do you disagree or maybe even prefer this edition over the original M8? Let me know. Would love to hear Linus' opinion on this since he loves the One and is kind of audiophile, but I think he had a similar statement on older Beats phones. Here is my comment on the video: This phone has absolutely no right to exist. Just like the older HTC "beats" phones the only difference between this Harmann Kardon edition and the normal M8 is fancy software and a pair of headphones. Hardware is NOT improved. If it really sounds better, that would only mean the original M8's Software is flawed. However there are so many aftermarket Music Player and Equalizer Apps it doesn't make any sense to pay extra for it, since you could do it yourself. The reason why it might sound "better" is because Bass and Treble will be turned up and some fancy effect that overfocuses on something to give non audiophile people the illusion of hearing something special. (Because they aren't used to it) That's like putting a ferrari badge on a mustang without changing anything on the car. Sure it's fast, but not any better than the regular mustang.

So I wanted to set a small poll for the community too see what users prefer, and if you have not seen either of them, I will post some vids for you to watch before voting and telling us why you chose that device and why you prefer it! Htc has had rumors of putting on screen buttons on the new M8 model. The rumors state that the back button is going to be changed into a more samsung or stock android look. I personally like their capacitive touch buttons as shown on the Htc one x,s,v, and x+ but i would still be fine with the current htc one buttons.

The (crazy?) Plan to Swap into an Asrock M8 I happened across this awesome bare bones pc thanks to @Name Taken in response to a right angle pcie adapter question. I love it's size, aesthetics, supposed build quality (designed by BMW's DesignworksUSA), and nifty features like on-board amp powering front audio, possible 6 fan config, standard mitx compatibility, and even a physical lock and key system for lan parties! I haven't been able to find the case by itself, but I'm so enamored I'm trying to hatch a plan. I want to simply buy the barebones kit, and hock my current build sans the storage and GPU, which will go in the m8. Questions and Concerns The PSU is 450w, which is the minimum that can run my 780 and 4790k (what do you think about that?) The chipset is last gen z87, so I'd be downgrading from a z97 to z87 (how much longer will z87 be relevant, does it matter?) Thermal throttling : I'm inexperienced with mitx builds, so not having room for high-grade cooling solutions worries me. I know I won't be doing any overclocking, but should I worry about my 780 or 4790k temperature throttling? Details and Pricing Factors to Consider All of my parts were purchased brand new less than 2 months ago, and are still under warranty. I think I can sell parts for at least 75% of original price through Amazon or CL. Prices in USD. Links are general Amazon and Newegg prices; I'll post links in classifieds if I decide to list. Selling Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 (5yr warranty) - $238.99 Define R4 - $130.49 Corsair RM650 - $104.99 (5yr Warranty) Corsair Vengeance LP (2x8GB) - $185.74 NZXT x41 - $109.99 Total x 75% = $557.40 Buying Asrock M8 -$360.49 (open box) Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) SODIMM - $152.00 Total = $544.97 (before tax) If I sell everything at least 75% of normal price, and get the current deals posted for the replacement items, I'd be looking at a pretty even swap. Taking shipping options and tax into account, I might loose around $100 after all is said and done. I'd be making a downgrade in expandability (no SLI, and older chipset), I wonder how much that really matters. I'm also inexperienced with MITX builds, and wonder what kind of performance hit to expect from Asrock M8 with it's smaller cooling solution than my current 3x140mm case fans plus 140mm AIO in the R4. I'd really like to hear some opinions on this lateral flat grade type plan.

As said above, the AT&T 4.4.3 OTA Update for the HTC One M8 that was released yesterday has caused my phone to die much quicker and my phone now often freezes up for a few seconds. The freezing is most noticeable when watching Youtube videos. My phone is also very hot (like I have been playing a graphic intensive game) all the time when I'm not even using it. None of these problems existed before the update. Any possible fixes? Thanks.

Source: The Verge If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess. Never got hands on with a M7 but its reputation speaks for itself. I'm happy they're finally ditching capacitive buttons since I personally prefer software buttons. Here's to hoping there's a GPE version too!
-
I personally like it. Throw an i5 4670K, Cooler Master GeminII M4 and GTX 770 MSI GAMING 3G in there and I am sold.

Hello, I've been recently looking for a new phone to replace my old xperia ion. I have settled on two phones, the sony xperia z2 and htc one m8. I can't really decide which one to choose though... A few key things i like about the Z2 -larger battery, -waterproof (im a swimmer), -more familiar UI, -Better camera, -extra gb of ram, -magnetic docking and the m8 -I love its metal chasis, -boomsound speakers, -more simplistic UI, so what it really comes to is the design of the m8 over the z2 but i like the specs of the z2 over the m8. So what do you think? and can you think of the types of people who would use each phone ex. businessman would prob choose z2. PS: if it comes down to the m8 being my choice, should i get the harmon kardon edition. I like its audio boosts and earbuds but im not sure about its design, (is the black too black?) do you like the HKE better? why?

I currently have a m7 and m8 locked to bell. i would like to start with the m7 first as i have never done this before and it is a spare phone. so i was wondering if it is possible to boot loader unlock my m7 using the htc developer tools and then flash the htc unlocked rom onto my phone so i can get the updates directly from htc as bell takes forever to roll out the updates.

I tried installing some customs ROMs but decided to go back to Stock using a backup but I must have backed up incorrectly as now my phone won't boot into an OS. My phone basically is doing this: (Not my video) I'm completely lost with what to try next, I've tried to use the AIO Toolkit to boot into recovery but it cannot find the device. Any ideas?
