Hi Basically I noticed a huge frame drop on fortnite after playing a bit. Usually I get like 120-200 fps and after playing like some time (not constant, seems to happen at random times) the frames drop to unplayable 40 fps. I'm pretty sure the gpu core clock has something to do with it. Since I'm running a 7970 ghz edition it's core clock should be 1000. But if I had afterburner and gpuz opened, both told me that whenever my frames dropped to 40 the core clock also dropped to 501 mhz and it never goes back up again. I've tried uninstalling msi afterburner and reinstalling video drivers. I've also tried messing around with different game settings but nothing seems to work as of now. I don't understand how the core clock can be locked at such a low speed, is it thermal throttling (the thermals get up to 97 degrees and it's locked at 100% usage) or something else? Tweaking the clock speed in afterburner also doesn't make a difference (the actual clock speed doesn't change regardless of what I'm setting it to). Any information would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

So my issue is kinda odd and hard to find to many other people that have the same issue. Most games like Fortnight, Overwatch and Call of Duty seem to lock my fps at a specific fps.. Fortnight locks it at 120 and Overwatch locks it at 60. If i set the fps limit lower then that it will lock it correctly, but if I set it higher it still only goes up to that fps. Oddly this issue only happends in Fullscreen or Borderless Windowed mode and goes away when I switch to windowed mode. It seems like it should be the other way around and I am not sure what is causing it.. I have ensured that in all game settings and in Nvidia Control panel settings v-sync is set to off. I am using Windows 10 and I have a GTX 1080 if that is at all relevant. Currently I have been using a workaround by using a software called "Windowed borderless gaming" Which allows me to run the game in windowed mode, but make it look like its in borderless windowed mode. While it works well, it would be nice to not need to use a 3rd party software for most every game. Any insight would be appreciated Edit: So it seems the issue is because I have a second monitor that is 60hz. Any way I can fix this so I don't need to disable my monitor to use fullscreen?

Hi, So I work as a part-time at a restaurant and we use tablet like devices to take orders. The system we use is like 10-15 years old and the company that produced the software is no longer in business. We need to edit data like delete any old items that we no longer serve and add new data. Unfortuanetly we can't do this from just opening the program itself. I'd like to know if there is a way that I can open and modify the DLL's themselves. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it as we are kind of stuck here

Hi. I recently started using my old laptop again and I formated the drive. Now it won't recognize my USB stick with windows 10 on it so I obviously can't boot from it. I also can't change any settings in the insydeh20 bios/UEFI or what the hell it is. The only settings I can change is hard drive password... The boot order is locked too. Anyone that can help me?

I'm not sure where to put this, no other sub seems any more applicable than general. Could a member of staff contact me via PMs? I'm having some account trouble, and i'm not sure WindSpeed sees PMs send via the Contact Us button. Delete if wrong. Thanks.

So I have a few word documents that have a password. Is it possible to crack/recover them, maybe a recommended program or a service? Perhaps i can send someone the file they crack it. I'm willing to pay some money to recover these files. I might have a few ideas of what the password could be or rather the length of the password.

So I copied the OS and all from a HDD onto the new HDD rad array, but it won't boot. When I try to run chkdsk, SFC, or any other repair tools it tells me the disk is locked or write protected, any help would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

Installing program, PC freezes, Disk Locked, Unable to Reset
Nonco posted a topic in Troubleshooting
My sister has had an issue with her desktop recently. She was installing something onto her storage HDD (not her primary OS SSD), when her PC froze up, then she checked her task manager to see 100% disk usage. Then everything stopped, so she restarted her PC. Now it struggles to POST and when it does it takes it into diagnose, and gives troubleshooting menu. She does not have a backup. But doesnt care if she loses everything. When trying to reset or fix any issues it says it cant. When resetting, keeping files option says the drive is locked, and when just clean reset losing everything it says theres a problem resetting your PC. What can I do from here?- 7 replies

So iwe always wanted to run a server from my house. Everything ranging from a game server to now a VPN. Every time i come to this point i hit this big brick wall that our ISP has locked us out from opening ports. Iwe opened everything and tried to turn off our network firewall to see if that was the issue. But it wasnt. So i cannot port forward or open ports in generall. So i face the impossible question to how i can run a server trough a port WITHOUT "port forwarding". My workarounds are this so far : 1. Use a software that will forward a speciffic port trough to a VPS and host it from there. Problem with this is as follows. #1. Its a bug in the program that will break up the connection after 5 minutes and not allow new connections. #2. The creator has no idea how to fix anything and is selling it because ot this. #3. Also its offline as im writing this http://www.grappl.io (the github : https://github.com/ellenhebert/Grappl ) 2. Hamachi or anything like it. Problem with this is as follows. #1. ITS SLOW! #2. Probbaly steals your data. #3. annoying to configure. 3. VPN with port config This is the best solution iwe found but it costs money and i have tried with no avial to get it to work. (the guys who have this feature: https://airvpn.org )

hello, (sry im german so my english is not that great, i am useing msi afterburner) I bought an msi gtx 1060 gaming x about a month ago and i want to overclock it because i heard it is a good overclocker and i hit 2062 mghz on core and 4550 mghz on the memory and I woud like to adjust the core voltage but that wasnt possible for me. And trust me i have tried everything (I tried to allow it in settings, dosent work. I tried to enable unofficial overclocking mode in the afterburner txt , and some other ways but nothing worked at all) So here is my question i read a forum post on a german forum where someone said it could be that the gtx 1060 is locked or something like that so is it possible in any way to unlock it? with an custom bios or something like that? I thank you for your answer

I recently bought i3 6100, Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI, and Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400. I found another thread on this forum saying that it was possible to OC locked skylake chips using an OC BIOS, so I downloaded the OC BIOS and got to overclocking. After some initial problems (I don't have a lot of experience :P), I finally managed to get 4.51 GHz on the core, at 1.35v. Now that's stable, and it's pretty great, but it introduced a couple of problems. First, the CPU temp seems to be stuck at 100 degrees in Windows. Second problem is that the computer posts, but refuses to boot if the iGPU is enabled. It boots just fine when it's disabled. I kinda need the iGPU because for x265 decoding (as you can see my GPU is quite old for x265). Any help regarding these issues will be appreciated. Another question, the CPU frequency used to vary with load before I OC'd. Now it just stays at max clock and max voltage. Is this normal and sustainable? Thank you!

my cpu was oc to 4.6GHZ tiil now. i am using intel extreme tuning ultility andjust now tried to bump it to 4.7 i increased the voltage to 1.290 and when i did a benchmark, the cpu stayed on a CONSTANT 3.10 GHZ. i checked CPUZ too to see if a mistake but still the SAME? why is that? help me please

I am looked at getting a new CPU for my Z97 build and I thought it might be a good idea to get a broadwell CPU since they have better integrated graphics and a smaller fin-fet process. But the C instead of the K confuses me. Is it overclockable?

Hello! I just recently upgraded my phone to a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I have my phone secured by a fingerprint/password, but sadly after five or so failed fingerprint scans it will lock up my phone for a short period of time. (Similar to what happens on iOS) Is there any way to disable this, or is this a feature in Marshmellow/TouchWiz? I attached a few screenshots below to show the problem I am having. I also have auto factory reset turned off (Just in case that matters). Thanks in advance!

Hello guys, I was wondering if there's any way for me to recover my data from Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 that has no working screen. It's currently "ghetto" mounted to the table with all chips & battery connected. It's wired to the PC & charging.. It also shows up on the list of devices but of course I cannot access the data -> you need to unlock the screen first to do so (no screen = no unlocking). Does anyone know any software that would allow me to enter the password via PC and that way get access to my files (I know the password..) Or maybe somehow recover the files through the "lock"? And also, I'd prefer not going into the phone's "safe mode" or w/e it's called without having a navigation display.. Thanks in advance!

I was using Secure ATA Erase to permanently remove some files from my 1 TB WDC Blue HDD. But suddenly the power went out.. when I again turned my system on. The harddisk was found locked. I checked it using a linux live DVD executing the command hdparm, it shows that the drive is locked. I tried to unlock it.. it was not possible. I tried to format it again.. bt the drives shows I/O error.. But the drive seems ok.. its not harmed physically. How to I unlock my drive.. or remove the password.. I dont need my files.. So if I need to wipe all files then its ok.. But show me a way to recover the drive.

I had gotten a S4 as a present in August. I had a S4 mini before that and I was given an S4 not much of an step up but the person never knew I owned a phone. But to continue my phone just stopped taking my sim card. Naturally I thought it was the sim card tray so I ordered one up and replaced it last night. And its still not working. Then I remembered I had some sims with Fido and Chatr. I am with Wind at the moment and Chatr is the original provider I believe as it was the sim in it when I received it. And out of all three it was Chatr who worked. I would like to note when ever I do an factory reset it always downloads Telusapps but lets me delete them which is why I thought it was unlocked, which makes me unsure about who is the original provider. I don't get why it would take my sim for a month and some and just stop. Thanks in advance. Edit: To save some time i'll list what I have done to try to fix this Factory Wiped Changed sim tray A method I realize was for Android 4.4 and could not continue with Cleared cache Cleaned sims Checked all the connections on phone I broke the screen and replaced that too I spent so much on it there's no point to not fix it now because of the screen

The in-game performance is great after I overclock my AMD chips, but I've never used Intel. Last week I purchased a z97 mobo (was drunk, oh well) and now I need to add an 1150 chip to it or it is useless lol. So my question is, if I go with an i5-4460@3.2Ghz instead of the 4690k@4.5Ghz (after OC) will I regret it? I'm asking because from all the in-game footage I can find, it seems like 5-7 frames is what the 4690k gets over the 4460. any intel users that can confirm? If an OC'd 4690k is overkill for my 1080p@60fps setup, please tell me. I'm not upgrading to 1440p until I make a skylake build, and I dont want ddr4 just yet. my current graphics card is an EVGA GTX 760 SC. the board I purchased for the intel chip is a z97, I also have 2x8GBs ddr3 clocked at 2133Mhz. (so 16GBs in dual channel) as far as demanding tasks, gaming is the only one. I don't render/encode videos, but if I did it would be 1080p@60fps maximum and I can wait 20mins for a 10min clip if need be. I might stream, maybe. so how does the 4460 perform while streaming when compared to the 4690k? any help is appreciated! Thoughts: I realize that the price difference between the two CPUs is $50, but $50 goes a long way for me. I also don't want to owe anymore than I do (not borrowing) and next week I have some serious bills. If i don't purchase it this week, I'll be staring at this motherboard until mid November/beginning of December

Hey everyone. Here's a quick one for you to chew through. My brother is thinking of selling his PC since he doesn't use it anymore and want to return to consoles, more importantly, the inferior Xbox One. My brother is not technologically advanced and knows little to nothing about computers. So when he said hes going to sell his computer, I asked: "Can I swap my i5 with your i7?" and he responded with Yes. EDIT: i5 not i6 - those don't exist...yet But do I do it though? My i5 is an unlocked 4690k that is rock solid stable at 4.8GHz at 1.3v My brothers i7 is a 4790 that can not be overclocked. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with my i5, but I'm thinking that the i7, while not overclock-able would be better for me, since I want the extra virtual threads as I will be doing a computer games dev course soon. But I also do other things as well, such as gaming, video editing/recording, mess with VMs from time to time. Please help me decided, thanks.

Hey guys, I accidentally wiped everything in TWRP (most importantly the 'system' partition) and somehow managed to relock the bootloader. So now I am left with a device that can only boot into fastboot mode because else it's stuck in a bootloop and that I can't flash anything onto because of the locked bootloader. Fastboot reboot(-)recovery isn't a command apparently, although I've read that it worked at some point (in an older version maybe?). When I am trying to "flash all file.zip" fastboot 'stops working', but not only on my desktop but also on my notebook. The zips (yep, tried multiple) don't seem to be damaged (Tested in WinRar) and I also tried reinstalling fastboot/adb multiple times with different setup .exes. I am running out of ideas here - I basically need something to unlock my bootloader without sending it into a bootloop when rebooting afterwards. Any ideas? Help is very much appreciated!

I have looked for a physical switch, there isn't one. it is a toshiba drive. I know this because i took the plastic casing off and there was a small chip labeled toshiba. I have followed a few guides 1. cmd with diskpart 2. 2 or 3 third-party formatters 3. obviously the default windows formatter 4. acting like im installing windows to the drive (as to force a format because it has to load windows on it? it was a last resort.) Please help, its a wasted 8gb drive because of the lock. Thank you!
