Okay, so I have no Idea what I'm doing here. I am building my first real gaming PC to be used for Gaming, Livestreaming, recording, and viewing the livestream and chat on three total monitors. My entire build is below. I'm pretty sure I've got everything down so far but I just have no knowledge about graphics cards. Any tips or tricks would be extremely appreciated. I will also be using the PC for video, audio, and photo editing and general web browsing in total. The only other thing I really think I need help on is the case. i'm going for RAID 10 with the HDD's, is that a thing that can be added onto later, or what are the specs on that? I just need space for all of this. haha:) thanks! Hi, so, I started/am starting to stream from time to time. I know, because for now, nobody knows me, nobody will care, but is it generally legal to stream something like Pandora Radio or Spotify on your stream? It's not like the viewers couldn't use Pandora themselves to listen to the same tracks for free, so it isn't really a copyright issue. I know that encoding and thus recording it is technically illegal, but I'm not doing that anyways. I just wanna hear your thoughts on this, do you think that worrying about it is dumb? Let me know...

I remember on a WAN show (possibly long enough ago that it was a the 'Live Stream') there was a topic regarding some sort of new TV antenna sharing/rental scheme which I think avoided fees somehow. If I remember correctly I think that it was facing legal opposition and never took off. I cannot find anything that sounds like what I think I remember, can anyone remember the name or help with more info? Thanks, j29

I have just started to get high CPU usage from window desktop manager and it had never done it before, when ever i watch a live stream it jumped up to 25% usage, then when ever I live stream it used 25% also, I don't encode with my CPU I use my GPU for the encoding of the live stream (nvidia nvenc), about 4 weeks ago I could live stream and only use 10% of my CPU with out a game running, not it runs 25% with out a game running. Sometimes it jumps up to 50% usage of my CPU LOOK IN PROFILE FOR SPECS

Hey Guys =)) Just want to ask if you have worked in a production or live events, I'm thinking of making a rig for livestreaming.. Not games, just events. I came up with this specs Intel 4790k or new 5820k or Xeon.... I will need probably more cores? or just threads? Not sure but currently i am using an i5 with 8 gb ram and streaming to ustream with wirecast, the problem here is that the cpu readings there is maxed out.. around 90% average and 95% max and it is just one camera with 1080p. I need to be able to switch 4 cameras using wirecast, now if you will tell me to buy a production switcher it will cost me alot than this solution, i saw one like a roland vr4-ex i think around 2000$ and it has 4 inputs but 3 of those hdmi is a standard def only not full 1080p, so i guess this solution is more practical. Im planning to put a nice capture card that can handle mutliple inputs & multi-card support.. a blackmagic decklink mini i think. those with HMDI & SDI... Around 150$ on newegg. Glad you could help me thanks =D

Hey everyone just got a small "problem" deciding how to go about this. I currently have both a youtube and twitch account, one is for videos and one is for livestreaming (obviously). The main question is how would i decide which games to livestream and which to make into youtube video's in the form of let's plays/walkthroughs/etc? Personally i enjoy livestreaming more than making youtube videos simply due to nature of being able to start up a game and stream it almost right away, while recording a youtube vid takes a lot more time for both the recording/commentating and then editting. This doesn't mean i don't want to stop youtube, it seems that it's easier to grow a the number of subscribers/viewers on youtube than on twitch and so it makes sense to keep making videos. But as i've started off this post, i have no clue which games i should livestream or record, i have no intentions of playing a game twice through and most games are great on either platform in my opinion. One solution i currently can think of is record a video while i livestream and essentially upload a shortened or montage video of the livestream. This probably won't come off as great to youtube viewers since there is a difference in expectations in how a let's play or playthrough should be presented on youtube. Another issue with that idea is how taxing it will be on my system. I'm sure i could pull it off but i'm more concerned about how it would work out if i upload videos that are basically ripped straight out of my own livestreams. So another question to you guys would be would you watch a shortened video of a livestream made into a youtube video, meaning cuts here and there to make it more a let's play/playthrough or even just a montage? Any help or suggestions to this little dilemma of mines would be most welcome! Thanks in advance!

The Oculus keynotes will soon start on Twitch. This keynote is mostly for developers but I thought maybe some people on here would be interested. Don't expect anything amazing to be announced. (Looks like I was wrong about that). Link: Oculus on Twitch Scheduled and other info on Oculus' website HERE. Flattering picture of Luke on the big screen (not actually Luke). Yes, that is what you look like while wearing a VR headset. They see two different experiences. "Mobile VR" and "PC VR".

Dear Linus, can you please increase your livestream recording volume at 50%. I have to turn up my speakers a lot every time. Thanks, Sound Blast

So hear me out before saying I am bashing the Blue Company and its microphones hell my friend has a snowball and i love its mic quality. I want to be different than the rest. I want something in around the same price range of the Snowball. Any other companies that have good microphones around the $50-$70. I am probably not going to buy it til the summer time just looking for suggestions. I will be using this mic for Youtube Commentaries and Twitch Livestreams for the most part. I am seeing other mic companies like Samson(i think i spelled that right) and Audio Technica. From my research though Audio Technica is out of my price range.

Hey guys, Not entirety sure if this is possible but i don't see why it shouldn't be. i really think it would be cool if i could set my screensaver on my computer to the live stream that is coming from the International Space Station. There is a live stream link that NASA puts on and ill include the link at the end. I have searched the internet but they all seem to talk about using static pictures or videos that are already on my computer. I would just leave the stream going but I'm too lazy and just want it to go full screen when the screensaver would come on, without a Firefox tab having to be open, and when i move my mouse again it to go back to normal. Any help would be great, and ill also post this on the Teksyndicate Forums, which ill include a link to just in case they come up with something that you guys don't and if i get this solved and its on that forum. ill edit this post to point it out to that so anyone else who wants this can have it. Because well Linus said anything to do with space is cool! Live Stream Link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/live-iss-stream Tek Syndicate forum link: https://teksyndicate.com/forum/windows/set-windows-screen-saver-iss-live-stream/174106 Thanks for any help guys, i look forward to seeing if we can get this done.

Greetings All! As mentioned earlier in today's livestream, we were talking about your favorite type of Android phone or even phone in general, I guess. So do you prefer a faster, stronger type of phone or do you prefer having the latest version of Android? Or if you don't use an Android phone what do you prefer about your phone over another company phone? Personally for me, I enjoy a stock Android experience because I am always guaranteed the latest version of Android versus having to wait months to years for at least 4.1.x or 4.2.2. So for me something like the Nexus 4 is perfect with its 1.6GHz Qualcomm S4 (Quad-Core) and it's 2GB of RAM. Now that is my opinion what is your take on this subject? Let us know!

Hi everyone, so I'm going on a road trip on Saturday morning and it's going to be a 3 hour drive. Fortunately, Linus now streams at around 8:30AM Saturday mornings where I am (Australia), so I was going to watch it on my mobile with the Twitch.tv app. Problem is, I only have 1GB of mobile data available. Does anyone know how much data Linus' stream would take up in 360p? I'm a bit paranoid of going over the 1GB allowance because after that, I get charged 5 cents per MB. Cheers!

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in build-offs on the forum. This idea was originally proposed on the PCPartPicker forums, but they don't have nearly the community that we do here. Every week/two weeks a thread is made with criteria and a goal for a build, such as "Best PC for Immersive Gaming for $1,800." For a build like that, the important things would be smooth framerates, good audio quality, low fan noise, and a nice display. Using PCPartPicker, contestants choose parts for a rig that they think best fits the criteria (while staying under budget). The post with the most "likes" wins after a set amount of time. Other criteria could be things like brand choice, color scheme, form factor, etc. What do you guys think? Should this be a thing on the LTT forums? If it turns into a big thing then maybe the winner each week could be mentioned on the live stream along with the Build Logs of the Week. Because of this, I'm leaning towards a Thursday to Thursday schedule so each contest will finish the day before the livestream. N.B./Update: The first build-off will be next Thursday in the New Builds and Planning forum. I'll make a thread with the topic and rules.

Tragedy struck Friday night when in an effort to show build logs, crashed the world's best livestream. At 9:20pmEST (May 24, 2013) Linus Sebastian, co-host of Live Tech Chat with Linus and Slick, was showing live viewers build logs of epicness when shortly after logging in and loading photo's of the builds of pure awesomeness the stream promptly died. In an effort to re-commence the stream, Mr. Sebastian with aid from Mr. Slick failed and immediately made the choice to go straight to their Afterparty. Their Twitch members also tried to lend a hand by sending ejaculating ASCII penises. When contacting Mr. Sebastian he gave no response. The same was for Mr. Slick. We are still awaiting a detailed forensic analysis from INTERPOL. More details to follow when they arrive. What are your thoughts on these periodical crashes? Personally, I feel that the cross-epicness between the best forum ever and the best livestream ever caused an epicness overload. Please feel free to give your opinion on why this happened.

In the sea of disappointment that the Xbox one reveal seems to have caused, I guess it's nice to have a laugh as current gen XBox Kinect users have their XBox stop and listen to commands from the livestream itself . http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/21/4353010/kinect-trouble-xbox-one-reveal?utm_source=feedly

so i am buying a new laptop and right now i have found 2 that i realy like both are MSI, 1:MSI GE70 2oe and the other one 2:MSI GS70 the gs70 is slim and is full metal so thats nice but the problem is it only has 8 gigs of ram and i know its enough for todays gaming but what about 4 years later? the ge70 has 16 gigs of ram the GS70 has a 128 gig ssd along with a 1TB hdd while the GE70 only has a 1TB HDD 7200rpm the GS70 is very thin the GE70 has a plastic cover, while the GS70 is full aluminum in my opinion the GS70 is a superior laptop other than the fact that it only has 8 gigs of ram both are around the same price range i will be using this laptop for a long time so need the ram to be enough for the next few years, oh and i was wondering which laptop will have better cooling
