The computer has the LGA2011 mount like this shown in the pictures. Will I have any problem mounting any LAG2011 compatible cooler on this? I'm sorry if this sounds stupid but my Lenovo workstation has a lot of proprietary things on it so I wanted to make sure this is not one of them. Hello there! Looking for a CPU cooler for 15-30euros for Xeon processor E5 2680 v4. It is lga 2011-3, 120tdp. X99 P4 Motherboard. Just to confirm all 2011 Lga cpu coolers mount on 2011-3? Hi everyone. So I got this LGA 2011 Chinese motherboard like a week ago, it had a bios admin password set up but I knew it after buying. Today I wanted to reset the password because it was annoying to type it everytime I boot my PC, there wasn't any option for this, however. So I just set the 'system optimized defaults' and 'default security settings' in security tab, then I rebooted the PC and was meet with the same "ENTER PASSWORD" screen, but it was different, had green lines and question marks on it's sides (pic related) and upon entering the correct password this abomination was released upon daylight.... (2nd pic related) (there is some text but it's impossible to read it (pic related 3&4) I have no idea what to do, resetting the CMOS isn't working and there are no CMOS pins... It's worth noting I also disabled "Intel ME subsystem" thinking nothing would happen. Please help as I don't want to throw this motherboard away!

Hello I recently purchased a HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 on ebay and i am woundering whats the strongest cpu or it... the way intel names its processors for that time is very confusing and they dont say which lga2011 they use since apparently there multiple versions? -
Today I'm embarking on a build with the first of hopefully future servers I would like to play with starting with the HPE DL380p Gen8 an early 2010's system built around the LGA2011-0 server platform featuring the C602 chipset. Getting a quick look around the system starting at the front left to right we have VGA a slim optical drive Eight 2.5" drive bays. Unfortunately this server did not come with any usable sleds. LED indicator panel for debugging USB System information tab Power button USB Front UID which pairs with the rear UID Right behind that we have a wall of six hot swappable fans. These things are no slouches. Each fan can put out up to 39.6W for a total of 237.6 watts of just fans. Unreal. Moving farther back gives us a view of the CPU/RAM arrangement. Two sockets, 12 DIMM slots per socket, 3 DIMMs per channel. The plastic guard acts as a air flow guide to direct the air more accurately to where it needs to go. In the back we have two three slot PCI_e risers. One per socket. We'll take a closer look at the slotted cards on the right in a little while. In the very rear we can see all of our I/O A small allen key for system servicing Quad Gigabit NIC Serial port Our iLO Management Port. This will become very important later VGA Quad USB Rear UID which pairs with the front UID Two mini-redundant 750W PSU's. I will be looking at those closer in a bit. Right now the CPU's have arrived so I can start by installing those but we are waiting on the RAM so I think I'd rather do the two at once. The mechanisms designed which hold everything together are a marvel in themselves so I can't wait to dig into this farther.

Hi there. I am once again in need of help lol. As i've calculated on my ryzen build on pcpartpicker.com it estimatedly eats about 394 watts at max.. That was a bit too much for me so I made an ancient xeon build but same here, its tdp was 400+ watts (Idk the exact wattage since the mobo I want isnt on the site) But the Question im really asking is. Do motherboards consume power or is it just the ammount of tdp of the cpu it supports thats taken account in the wattage estimator in pcpartpicker? Im building a vm server/freenas, and i got a Supermicro Super x7dvl-e Dual lga 771, since i got those noisy stock fans i want to buy 2 Noctua NH-U9DX. Problem is that the ones I find on ebay is I4 edition and it says if fits narrow lga 2011, will these cooler fit on my supermicro board?

So I could get a couple of E5-2650 Xeons (Sandy Bridge) So they're on the LGA2011 socket and I was looking for a motherboard for them. I found this: Dell Precision GN6JF T5600. And the supported Graphics cards don't say anything recent, but it might just be outdated. Is it possible to know this in any way? I currently have an FX-4100 and I'm 100% sure this would be a better setup.

Hi, I am trying to build a pc using a P9X79 WS motherboard and a Xeon E5-2690 processor. I have upgraded the bios to support the processor using asus bios flashback to make sure that the bios is not the issue. When trying to boot the fans spin properly but I receive no Q-Code and the motherboards DIAG_CPU led is solid blue meaning that there was an issue with the cpu. If I take out the ram it gives me the same error. If I unplug/take everything out except for the cpu, cooler, and the 24 pin connector, I still get the same error. I have read online that if you unplug the 8 pin cpu connector and try to turn the system on, you will get a red led by the 8 pin connector but this does not happen for me. Please help me fix this issue, I hope my motherboard isn't bricked.

Hi guys! I recently was given an Intel Xeon e5-2697 from a friend who runs a bunch of servers and was just getting rid of some. I plan to build a new workstation around the processor. However, I am pretty new to the PC building world as I just built my first PC last year. I was looking at LGA 2011 boards and most all of them were advertised to support LGA 2011 based i7's. Right now I'm looking to get an ASUS Sabertooth x79 board, but I dont wanna drop $250 if the board and CPU are not compatible with the Xeon. Any help would be extremely appreciated!

So I got some old computers that someone didn't need anymore and I thought maybe I could turn into a project and make a few systems for my family. Problem is I'm not well versed in older Intel chipsets and how the naming worked. So my question is, what known brands (think ASRock, MSI, Gigabyte, etc) made motherboard that support chips like the Xeon E5-2665 or the Xeon E5-1607v2? I did some prelim research and found that they fit into FCLGA2011 sockets, and sometimes FCLGA2011 = LGA2011. But does that mean that I can buy a motherboard off of eBay like the ASRock X79 Extreme4 and it'll work? Thanks in advance for your help!

So I have this old i7, a 3920k. Now the problem is I can't do anything with it because all the motherboards for it are ridiculously expensive. Does anyone know of an X79 motherboard that's actually affordable and worth the money considering how old these things are?

So I got all the parts for a new gaming PC, all I need now is the motherboard and CPU, I just can't decide which option is better, I bought an Asus Rampage IV Gene Lga2011 a few years ago but never used it, and for some reason it's more expensive now than when I bought it, so now I'm not sure if it'd be better if I build my PC with the Rampage IV Gene or with a quite new Asus Z-170 Pro Lga1151. I was thinking on buying an Intel Core I7 5820k 3.6ghz Six Core Lga2011 for the IV Gene, or a Intel Core I5 6600k 3.5ghz Quad Core Lga1151 for the Z-170 Pro. Maybe if the Rampage IV Gene combo is better I can save some money, but if that's not the case then I'd go for the Z-170 Pro combo. What do you think? -
Hi all, I am currently looking to upgrade my X3650 M4 from the e5-2620 inside it currently. However, IBM say its only valid for up to E5-2600v2 series processors, However, E5-4000v2 series processors seem cheaper. Same for some of the lower end E7-8000v2 series. Is this server only limited to E5-2600 series CPU's? I have struggled to find any additional info. However, I am going to assume it's hardware whitelisted for E5-2600 and E5-2600v2 series only. If anyone has any of these processors working in an X3650 M4 any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I have an i7 4930k that I would like to use. I know that I could have gotten more modern hardware for the price this'll probably ending up costing, but I got this cpu for a really good price and would like to use it as it is leagues above my current. The problem I have is that it is a major pain to find LGA2011 x79 motherboards online for anywhere near affordable, at most name brands costing 300$+ USED. I can find a ton of Chinese motherboards for 70$ and up, but very few people have even tried them and reviewed them, and the ones who have did not give specifics on which board it was (I bet that they are all made by the same company, but still) or glowing reviews. I need advice in how to find these elusive boards for a reasonable price, and have overclocking support (that is one of the things that the Chinese boards are said to have, they claim that it can overclock but it is said they cannot and that the VRMs run extremely hot even at stock speeds). This is a cpu and motherboard combo I would like to use for a long time even almost 7 years into the i7 4930k's lifespan, so I need a quality board. I have all the other equipment I would need to do this, even if this is pushing it on my psu wattage, so I should be prepared on that front. Thanks -
Hey all! My first post here, but I'm no stranger to building computers (as a hobby). I follow and subscribe to YouTuber Luke Miani, and he recently posted a video of him upgrading the cheapest 2013 "Trash Can" Mac Pro from its quad core processor to a 12 core Intel® Xeon® E5-2697 v2. I'd like to upgrade my home server, which is running on consumer parts (Intel Core i7 3770k (running at its stock 3.5 GHz), 32 GB of DDR3 (non-ECC) RAM, 4x4TB Seagate IronWolf HDDs in "RAID5" aka RAIDZ1 (ZFS), and a Gigabyte Z77 DP3 series motherboard. It's running FreeNAS 11.3-U1 as my server OS of choice. It's my Plex Media Server, but I'd like to rebuild it to give me more power for stuff like running VMs and other stuff that a 4-Core/8-thread CPU like the 3770k would suffer with and from. With that said, what older(ish) server hardware would you guys recommend I get (everything from the CPU(s), PSU(s), motherboard and case) to perform this rebuild? The performance of the current server I have there isn't bad by any means, but I'd like to have a more proper "server" running, if you know what I mean. Would I benefit from a dual-socket board with two higher core count CPUs, or should I just get a consumer LGA 2011 mobo and get some sort of multi (north of 4-core) CPU? Lastly, if I was to get a dual-socket LGA2011 (for example) motherboard with a single E5-2697 v2 (for example) CPU would the system POST, given one CPU socket would be not occupied by a CPU? I really don't have a budget for this, as I'm just doing some research. This is a theoretical build. Hello people, I know it's a weird question and yes I know there's not much advantage in overclocking these but it's for pure entertainment I would like to know if it is possible to mod the bios of my motherboard in such a way to control bclk overclocking, I have an ASUS Z9PE-D16 motherboard that I bought on ebay as faulty for a steal and I would like to play with it a little... I have a couple of 2690V2s in it at the moment that run at 3GHz base on all 10c/20t each. I would like to push them a little because I saw people managing a pretty awesome 3.5/3.6 on these which is fantastic... now granted I don't need to go that high... Is it possible?? Is there someone in here with the required knowledge who could tell me how to do it? Thanks a lot and a good day to everybody!

Hey all, I’ve been doing some research on compatible CPU’s with the gigabyte G1 Gaming GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 mobo as I picked up a second hand gaming rig that’s got that in it. I was looking at the gigabyte website and it says the motherboard is 4th and 5th gen intel core i5 and i7 compatible but couldn’t find much information on the 5th gen compatible side. the mobo currently has a 4770k processor in it and was looking to upgrade to like a 5930k as that is a “5th gen” processor but it app rests to be a socket 2011 and not a 1150. Is there a difference between the 2 socket types? -
Looking to use the Intel Xeon E5-2650 for a new server im building because its cheap and its powerful. Only issue is, I cant find anything for that socket thats not $500+. Can anyone recommend me a reasonably priced LGA2011 board? Even if it means using used hardware, i'm okay with that.

Has anyone tried those x79 motherboards for home lab purposes? I have seen some youtube video's on them being used for gaming and they seem alright but what about 24/7 reliability? Want to upgrade from my aging X5670 servers and thinking of pairing it with a Xeon e5 2670 V2 and 32GB of ECC ram I have laying around.

I currently own 2 Intel Xeon e7 4830v2 but no fitting motherboard. As you can see in the attached image the Pin-layout of Ivy-Bridge EX is different than the Sandy-Bridge EP, Ivy-Bridge EP and the Haswell EP layouts so you would need the LGA 2011-1 Socket to run theese CPUs alongside the C602J Chipset. After some digging i found some motherboards that would cost about 5k$ and some Servers that would cost about 400$ without anything in them but i dont own a Server closet. Are there different options i missed or can anyone in the commuinity sell me one used cheaper? I would be happy if someone knows some ways to get them e

hi, recently upgraded to x299, I need a new cooler and if I search for lga2066 coolers I get a limited selection, but I see that some companies use the same mounting system for the lga2011, lga2011-v3 and lga2066, so I was wondering if all coolers that work on lga-2011 will do the same with lga2066?
