Does anybody know which LGA 1151 motherboard sub 100 dollars has the best onboard sound? tbh here guys everything else is optional, I just really like my sound when I'm playing games. Preferably I would like virtual surround sound and still have good sound quality, or should I just cheap out on the motherboard (I can get a good one for 20 dollars because of a 30 dollar bundle savings with the processor) and buy a really good sound card?

I'm putting a parts list together for my new build and I can't find an LGA1151 motherboard with enough USB ports to suit what I currently use. The spec I'm currently looking at is an Intel 6700K and an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW GPU with 16GB DDR4 memory. I've looked online for ages and the only motherboards I've managed to find that fit the builds white theme have less than 8 USB ports which is kind of something I would like since I'm using all USB ports on my current Asus M5A97 Le R2.0 motherboard. If there's nothing that exists at a reasonable price then I guess I might have to look into some USB hubs. Currently making parts list on PC Part Picker (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Useless_Mango/saved/#view=dXkcf7), just need motherboard sorting. (P.S. I know that PSU might be a little overkill). I've currently got my eye on the MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X LGA1151 motherboard but if there's anything better out there for a reasonable price tag then that would be great.

Hello I am Ryan and I am new here but not new to building PC's. just need to know what type of ram the Asus B150 Plus takes. I can't find any consistent information on this. I am looking for people who own this motherboard and can tell me if it uses ddr3 or ddr4. I know skylake usually uses ddr4 but I have found several that conflict each other. I am searching for a good mobo to put inside my build. It needs to have lga1151, DDR4, and a red/black or black color scheme. I am willing to spend €140 at max.

I plan on upgrading from Sandy-Bridge to Sky-Lake this month (hopefully). i plan on selling off most of my old parts, my current PSU is a "OCZ ZX 850w 80+ Gold", i have had it for 4-years and had my computer running around 14 hours every day. (I have OC's of 3.7ghz on my i7-2600 (auto voltage), but normally just ran at stock speeds). I plan on buying a i7-6700k and overclocking it (it will have water cooling + I have good air-con). Do you think i should buy a new PSU? Do you think my OCZ would work smoothly with overclocking on Sky-Lake? (I heard something about capacitor stress with low quality PSU's?) In regards to motherboards, should I look for one that boasts about its overclocking capabilities and capacitors? or just get any one for its features and aesthetics?how much ($AUD) would be an acceptable OC'ing Board? for RAM I'm currently looking at the Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16. these will work well when i overclock my CPU? (I also plan on changing the bclk) You don't need to worry about RAM coolers these days right? bonus question: most Sky-Lake mobo's only have <6 sata ports, I have a bunch of storage drives (movies, saved stuff, uninstalled games), how much ($AUD) should I be spending to get a sata pci-e card (only needs around 4-ports)? -any input is appreciated -Sorry for bad english and grammar.

I'm planning on upgrading from my AMD CPU and motherboard to an Intel i5-6600K. The motherboard I have has some trouble keeping the chipset cool and i'd like to eliminate this problem. Any boards out there under $150 USD that don't have this problem? Thanks

I brought the Asus ROG Z170 Maximus VIII Hero Skylake ATX Motherboard and it says LGA1151 socket but when trying find a cpu cooler for the motherboard looking in overclockers.co.uk and newegg.com it does not say they have LGA1151 socket coolers why is that? Hi everyone! I'm planning to build my first computer and I don't have a huge budget (700€/800$)... My questions are: Is it a good idea buying an i3 skylake planning to buy an i7 in a pair of years? Does skylake worth? Does it worth buying a good mobo, so I could upgrade my rig without changing it?

I'm making a new build and i was hoping if anyone can help me decide which motherboard to pick. the build right now includes: -CPU: Intel I5 - 6500 (so lga1151 socket) -GPU: Msi Gtx 960 4G -Memory: HyperX Fury ddr4 2133MHZ 1 slot 8GB so the MOBO needs an lga 1151 socket and needs to support ddr4 rams. i was going for the MSI H110M PRO-VD and it seemed like the right bang for the buck, however i was also looking for something that could support Wlan and bluetooth. I thought that i could add a wlan pci 1x card but i can't really pick one. Can anyone suggest a good wifi/bluetooth pci 1x card or a better mobo that includes those features? So i was thinking of changing out my motherboard (MSI H170A Gaming Pro) because its so fiddly to update and not compadible with certain types of GTX 980TI brands (im looking at you 980TI G1 Gaming from Gigabyte) and i need an excuse to tinker and maybe learn something about pc. hi so i bought a corsair h70 core cooler at weird stuff for like $8 and im saving to do a intel skylake build someday. the problem it it says it supports only lga 1156 lga 1336 lga 2011 am2 am3. so my question is that would it support LGA 1151 or 1150? is intel like AMD and the brackets stay the same over the years? or is it like all 115x series cpus have the same brackets? help?

Hey everyone. After 12 years of getting stuck with laptops, I think I have finally decided to get a desktop computer. And actually, I want to build it myself. I consider myself as a good general tech-follower, but when it comes to GPUs and CPUs and chipsets etc. I was completely illiterate, until today. Now I think I generally know a bit of everything just enough to build a basic PC from scratch, because I have been reading and wathcing stuff for a very long time. I also want to compensate myself for all the years I have spent with older hardware. I am excited about a superfast PC like never before! Well, do you think the parts I chose are okay? With only minor improvements over Haswell in gaming-centric programs, I've witnessed many an argument as to whether Skylake is worth it, perhaps for the new features or the broader upgrade path. I still see almost everyone going with socket 1150, since it still has an upgrade path to high-end consumer CPUs like the i7-4790k, which performs on par with the flagship 6700k, although this could be subject to change with the release of superior Skylake processors. With that in mind, how long do you think the Skylake platform will last? Do you think the extended upgrade path is a good reason to pick Skylake, or should people stick with 1150 just as they stuck with 1155 when 1150 was new? Regards, Aereldor.

I'm starting a new skylake build and i'm having trouble choosing a motherboard.I was told that AsRock has great boards with lots of featurers,Asus has the highest performing ones (i read that they have some memory issues and bootloops),Gigabyte have great build quality and amazing sound system and MSI are good and looking great too.My budget is about 200-250$(for the motherboard).I will oc my cpu,use the pc mainly for gaming and i am looking for something sorta "futureproof" (can be easily upgraded). Every recommendation is welcome (if its supported by facts-motherboard comparisons its even better)

Hey guys so recently I started to build my rig when suddenly all my parts lighting turned on but didnt boot. I then proceeded to fix it until I removed one stick of RAM and it worked. Just wondering how this fixed the issue and also if there is a fix or do I have to replace the ram. The ram is a g.skill ripjaw v 3000mhz ddr4 16gb with the rest of my specs on my profile. Thank you

So I was about to pull the trigger last night on the devil's canyon cpu with one of the gigabyte mobos that I saw was on sale, then I decided to wait until today too see if newegg put up any new sales pertinent to my tastes. Well, you can probably imagine my surprise when I woke up and saw that an entire new generation had been announced the next morning. This leads me to my question: I want to get a new mobo and cpu soon to upgrade from my terrible asrock and i3, and I also want the best thing I can get, so I was wondering which would be better, the haswell 4970K devils canyon, or the new whatever K skylake gpu. I really don't want to have to get rid of my ram and spend more money on more ram, but if the performance is worth it then I will do it. If I get the 6th gen cpu, I would have to upgrade to ddr4 or ddr3l, but regardless I would have to upgrade something I wasn't really counting on. I guess what I am asking is which is better for an upgrade right now, while keeping money in mind: the new one or the not so old one? I have a 7870 ghz edition that I don't care to update yet, its being bottlenecked as it is so I want to upgrade that after this. Please help I REALLY don't want to spend more than $500 Also will the Devil's canyon be cheaper once skylake is available for purchase?

The much awaited 100 series motherboard is here at goldfries' lab and it's a beautiful one from ASRock. If you've watched my video coverage of ASRock's showcase of Intel 100 series motherboard in Computex 2015, you'll probably guess it correct when it comes to the board's color scheme. The Extreme series has always been the "Blue Ranger" of ASRock's boards but with the 100 series the boards in Extreme series are now in black and brown which is quite similar to the Z87 Series http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-reviews/asrock-z87-extreme4tb4-lga-1150-motherboard-review/ . Starting off at the upper corner, the distinct difference between this and the previous generation boards is the covering over the I/O area. That aside you see the usual combo of 2 large heatsinks covering the 10 Power Phases. The ATX12V connector is at the upper corner as always and with sufficient clearance between it and the heatsinks so it's all good in that asepct. Next up is the RAM - the Z170 Extreme4 comes with 4x DDR4 DIMM slots supporting up to 3500+ speed with maximum capacity of 64GB. It's of a 2-phase power design. The USB 3.0 port is next to the ATX power connector and speaking of which, the Z170 Extreme4 comes with USB 3.1 support. And here's what I love about ASRock boards, I have both the Z87 and Z97 Extreme4 models and now I have the Z170 Extreme4 in the lab and all of them come with this awesome POWER / RESET button with debug LED. That aside, you'll see that the board comes with many SATA ports, supporting up to 3x SATA Express devices. Not only that, it comes with Dual-BIOS as well - just in case you love meddling with weird BIOS configuration to bring the best out of the board. Moving to the other corner of the board we see 3x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots. The PCI-E slots run at x8 / x8 for Dual-card setup while x8 / x8 / x4 for Tri-card setup. The board supports both AMD CrossfireX and Nvidia SLI. Right under the first PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot is the Ultra M.2 mounting point that supports M.2 SATA 3 6GB module and M.2 PCI-E Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32Gb/s) What I don't like about this design is that the Ultra M.2 is right under the slot - meaning it will be running VERY HOT should one put the graphic card under intensive use AND it's difficult to access should one design to swap the storage device. The Z170 Extreme4 comes with Purity Sound 3 - 7.1 Channel audio system with Realteck ALC1150 Codec. Notice also that there is a cover on the audio processor area (refer to previous photo as well) and what this means is that there's very little room to do cable routing under the PCI-E components. As as for the I/O panel - it comes with a host of USB 3.0 ports, including even the USB 3.1 Type A and USB 3.1 Type C ports. they're the USB ports located next to the audio I/O ports. Note also that the Z170 Extreme4 comes with a CMOS reset button and even a PS/2 port to support legacy input device. Unfortunately Intel's latest range of processors are still not available at the time of this review, therefore there will be not images for the UEFI interface. I will update this article in the near future once those processors reach the lab. The Verdict The ASRock Z170 Extreme4 is a feature-rich board, retailing at around RM 835. It's certainly not a budget board but you get quite some neat features on it, like USB 3.1, Ultra M.2 and multiple SATA Express device support. Recommend badge? Yes or No, that will be decided once I test the board with Intel's 6th generation processor but one thing's for sure, things definitely look positive here based on my experience with my Z87 Extreme4 and Z97 Extreme4 boards. ASRock's range of 100 series motherboard is expected to hit Malaysian shores next week. Availability in other countries vary, please check with your local contact. This was posted by forbes and they provided the above screenshot as proof, which makes it pretty much confirmed news. It pains me to see this as I hoped for the possibility of using those 6-cores in older boards including my own Z170 one. There is no word on Z170 to be precise but one can logically assume they're not going to be supported as well. It's probably either due to some architectural changes in Coffee Lake over Skylake & Kaby Lake or it's just Intel being assholes again and creating artificial limitations so people buy more CPUs Thoughts? UPDATE: TechPowerUp just posted pictures of Intel's Coffee Lake i7 and i5 CPUs and they look like this: Note what is written on the side of the boxes: "Requires Intel 300 Series chipset-based motherboards".
