Hey, First post on here. Just got in some used parts for a budget pc I wanted to build. specs: i5 9600k, msi gtx1070, 1tb m.2ssd (wd black), 550w psu, 16 gig G-skill, z390-H motherboard. All used parts, m.2 is new. After setting up the system I went to power it on and... no post. I have troubleshooted for some time now with no luck, and concluded that I needed a bios update. Asked the previous owner of the motherboard and he had used the same ram, and an i9 from the same gen. Would this mean that bios update would do nothing? VGA light comes on after a couple of minutes, so think there could be a GPU related problem instead? Attaching a photo of the CPU as its the only thing I feel looks off (middle top right). Have tried without gpu as well without any luck. Mono was shipped in normal bubble wrap and no anti static could this be an issue even if I get lights to everything? The screen also detects me plugging it in and out but no HDMI detected. have tried different screens and cables there swell. Anything helps, as I have built a fair few systems but never encountered a no boot sitch...

Hi. I have i5-9400. I believe it has LGA1151 socket. I was going on Ebay, searching motherboards that have "LGA1151" in the title, and surpsisingly not a single one passed the "pc parts compatibility website" check (I've tried multiple PC builder websites from Google) Here are the motherboards I'm considering buying, are any of these compatible with my CPU? - ASUS H170M-PLUS - GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2H - ASRock Q77M VPRO My RAM is DDR4MHz 2666 24GB for 2 slots. Thank you!

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3jvcVw this is my current build it's not horrible it runs great, But I was looking into a better CPU maybe probably one to match my motherboard and one that wouldn't bottleneck my pc or GPU. LGA1151 is my compatibility and that's it, I don't know if I should buy a new motherboard or just a new CPU, to help my temps and 3060 ti.

Hi, so I'm running a Corsair H100i RGB Platinum on an I7-7700 (in a Z270 mobo) right now and I just received my 12700K and the mobo. Now I know the key differences between the CPU's and the sockets are that the LGA1151 is 75mm x 75mm and LGA1700 is 78mm x 78mm and for the CPU's, the IHS is lower on the new 12700K. All that considered, the bracket behind the mobo that hold the cooler is at it's smallest configuration right now (at 75mm x 75mm), so I'm guessing that by putting it bigger it would fit LGA1700, so that's one thing clarified for now. The other thing is that I ordered the retrofit kit from Corsair and it's expected to ship in two weeks, so no way I'm waiting that long lmao. Other option would be to buy a new AIO but that's the last thing I wanna do. Is it possible to mount that AIO to my new LGA1700 mobo while making sure it's fine? Worse case scenario I can trim the standoffs or something. Thanks!

So I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but my friend gave me their acer pre-built with a i5-9400h, socket FCBGA1440. I was wondering if that would be compatible with your typical LGA 1151 motherboard if someone wanted to upgrade the motherboard?

motherboard Defective motherboard Asus Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon
Tintarul posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi guys! First time posting on this forum. I have an Asus Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon that fails on CPU detection. Please help. Symptoms: CPU led lights up The fans are spinning Motherboard powers on No image, no post code The processor heats up a bit for 2 seconds and then cools down Components: Asus Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon socket LGA1151 1x 8GB DDR4 No bent pins No connected peripherals, no HDD and no connected GPU x8 CPU power pin Intel i5 gen 6 What I've tried so far: I changed the processor with i5 generation 7 (both processors are tested and works just fine) I tried to start the board using only 4 power pins (on left and right side individual) Disconnecting CPU power while motherboard was still on (nothing happens) Resetting CMOS using reset pins while motherboard wasn't plugged in and then removed battery for 5 mins. Turning on the motherboard without RAM (same result) Turning on the motherboard without CPU (same result) I changed the PSU 3 times I tried to put pressure on the processor using my hand Motherboard worked just fine 2 days ago, then stopped working for no reason -
I just got a b365m motherboard, and some ripjaws 8x2 ddr4-3200 ram, and I want to get an Intel Pentium G4560, would that be compatible?

Hi, I have an Asus Maximus Formula IX motherboard which says it says it supports 6th/7th gen CPUs. I heard there was a bios update for several Asus mobos, allowing them to support 9th gen CPUs. I have also read that in some cases you can you 7th gen CPUs with 6th gen mobos and maybe 8th gen at a push. So can I use anything other than a 6th/7th gen CPU with my mobo? Mobo: Asus Maximus Formula IX (Latest Bios from 2018) Current CPU: 7th gen I7 7700K

Hey Guys, I Just Have A Quick Question. I Have A Stock CPU Fan That Came With A Prebuilt (Cooler In Picture). It Works Extremely Well But I Wanna Do A Corsair Build When I Switch My PC Into A Bigger Case. Could I Just Swap The Fan For An Aftermarket 92mm Fan?

Hey Guys, I Have A Quick Question If You Don't Mind Helping Me. I Have An HP 580-023w. It Has The Stock Motherboard With The LGA1151 Socket That Is Kind Of Tough To Get Out. So My Question Is: If I Bought Something Like A MasterAir G200P Or Some Non-Stock Cooler For That Socket, Would I Have To Take Out The Motherboard And Replace The Back Plate? Or Could I Save The Trouble And Screw It Into The One Already On It?

So have a cheap motherboard form Asrock with a Intel i3 4130 CPU but i did not have a CPU cooler for intel LGA1150 / LGA1151 But i did have the AMD Wraith prism cooler that came in the box with my Ryzen 7 2700X, but that is for AM4 Sooo F*** thack i will just print an adapter for the motherboard to accept the AM4 cooler on the intel socket motherboard and i dont think that the stock AMD cooler should have any problems in keeping the I3 4130 cool. Printed in PLA (And yes i know ABS or PETG would have been better) but kinda just gonna YOLO it at the moment at see if it works. The print file i used is this one from thingiverse. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4361016 But the designer of the file did not set the correct dimensions for the object so have to scale it up to get it to the right size. So print settings for the item in Repetier Host 0.2mm resolution 0.4mm nozzel 100% infill Scale by 9.75 to get it to the correct size. The adapter is mounted with small screws through the adapter and secured with plastic washers and self locking nuts on the back of the board. Anyway, not yet sure how its gonna hold up, dont have any ram to test it with, but if it works.... YAY!! and i not well POOP!!

Hey Guys, So I'm Pretty Savvy With PCs But Not Really In The TDP Aspect Of Processors. So My Question Is: I Have An All In One With A Desktop Grade i7-6700T. It Is Rated At 35 Watts. That Is There Compatibility With Something Like An i5-10400 Or i5-9400? They Are Supposedly 65 Watts Base TDP. The Power Supply On It Is Only A 180w Max But I'm Unsure Due To Different Websites Saying Different TDP. I Stick With Ark But Just Wanted A Second Opinion.

My parents have a standard Xfinity XB3 Dual-Band WiFi 802.11ac router with 2.4 and 5.0 bands. My room is a floor and 2 walls in the way of their router and my internet tests run my download speed at just under 200mbps. I need a WIFI motherboard as I have no ethernet wall ports in my room. Just 30 year old wanna be fucking phone jacks, LMAO. I'm a first time builder switching over from APPLE. I have chosen the i9-9900K (DON'T ARGUE AMD, I KNOW WHAT I WANT), and do the Wifi Motherboard must be Z390 and LGA 1151. I plan to overclock the CPU as much as I can get away with using air-cooling (DON'T ARGUE WATER COOLING, I KNOW WHAT I WANT), but only to the point where I am not sacrificing the lifespan of the CPU too drastically. I need your help to find the best Intel Z390 LGA1151 WiFi AC Motherboard that has OverClocking headroom that can support many case fans, and most importantly, that will have a reliable WiFi Connection considering that it'll need to reach a router 2 walls and a floor towards the router. Price is not as big a concern, though going above $250 you'll really need to sell me. Must be ATX form factor. Must use 802.11 AC wifi. I was originally thinking of the: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX LGA1151 Motherboard but I've seen a few concerning customer reviews that claim of spotty wifi connection. But I've also considered the: Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC I'd like to hear other considerations that check all my boxes listed above. Last week, I was getting my motherboard cleaned in order to sell it in my local second hand marketplace in my country. Of course everything was really dusty, the CPU socket seemed like it had the most dust on it. So while I was cleaning it with a microfiber cloth, I think I accidentally slightly misaligned a few pins. They look like they would still touch the contacts of the CPU, but I don't know and don't want to risk it at all. What's my best way to unbend these pins? I can get a magnifying glass as I've heard those things help out a lot in identifying which ones are bent. Please help!

I just recently upgraded my set up. I got an i3 9100f since it is a great value and highly rated, and to match that, a Z170A Gaming pro carbon because it also has lga 1151. I also had to upgrade ram to be ddr4 for the new motherboard so I got 8gbOLOy Dimm ddr4 3000 MHz, not brand name, but I believe it had decent reviews on amazon and I am pretty sure it is properly installed in slot 2. Any how, the indicator light says that there is an issue reading CPU. I zip tied my fan to it, since there are motherboard capacitors in the way of the bracket for the fan. I am almost out of zipties so I'd prefer this be resolved without dismounting my fan, if possible. I also upgraded my case and added a couple drives, but I doubt they are involved. Anyhow, I boot it up and all of my rgb turns on and the fans start, so it runs, but it must be failing POST because the monitor does absolutely nothing. I haven't cleared CMOS yet and if you think it is a very possible fix, I will do so gladly, but there is stuff in the way right now. Also, I have a 500w PSU. EDIT: I have decided I want to update the processor unless you can find a relatively cheap motherboard with a built in usb c slot like this one and four ddr4 slots that can at least kind of support 3000 MHz. I live in the USA

I recently got some 12v 4-pin rgb led strips, and everything was all fine and dandy with them on my motherboard until the pins shorted and blew the circuits for them. My MSI mpg gaming pro carbon has 2 jrgb headers, one is now completely useless, the other displays no blue and is greenwashed. any suggestions on a 100-250$ motherboard I should get as a replacement? atx form factor, wifi is optional, m.2 slot not needed but could be nice in the future, 2+ SATA port, 8pin cpu, 24pin motherboard, pciegen4, etc im still new to specking out computer parts, so I’d like some help please and thank you!

I've been putting some time into looking for some different ways to upgrade my current system, ive made posts here before and i have got a path straight for me but one question that has been boggling my mind lately is that my current Motherboard(MSI Z170A PC mate) might be able to support a CPU that results in less bottleneck than my current one does. My current setup consists of: MSI Z170a PC mate. Intel i5-6500 some 8gb corsair vengence ram (forgot ram speed at point of writing this.) Gigabyte RTX 2060 OC 6GB corsair cs450m PSU I purchased the RTX 2060 a while back knowing about the bottlenecking but it was the first purchase in a full upgrade. Now that i am able to buy the rest i was thinking about going with a Ryzen setup possibly 3600/2700x. But the CPU recommended from intel is the i7-8700k to minimize bottleneck, the problem is that i don't really know if my current motherboard will support the architect of the i7-8700k. (My current cpu and the 8700k are both LGA1151 socketed.)

Hello, I thinking of doing an upgrade to my computer. The part that I want to upgrade is the CPU. I currently have a I5-6600k and I want to up grade to I7-7700. The one question a have is to do with the socket. The I5 (my current one) is a LGA1151 but the I7 (the one want to upgrade to) is a FCLGA1151. I'm not sure if it the same socket or if its different. And another quick thing i do you think this is a good upgrade for me. I play a lot of simulation games (ETS2,ATS,BeamNG,etc) Sgm613

Hi, I want to upgrade my PC's cpu and my motherboard is an ASUS B150M PRO GAMING and it has an LGA1151 socket. I think it's chipset supports 6th gen Intel cpu's. It already has an Intel i5-6500 and it bottlenecks on some games. I'm thinkin' an i7, but i don't know which one i should get. Reply with suggestions. Thanks!

I was wondering, for a gaming focused channel starting out on youtube for £350 for the first pc what one is better. Most people would opt AMD due to the cheaper price-core ratio but intel has a higher upgrade path, and more games and software work better with intel (Games like CS:GO). I was just wondering because a friend has £500 but needs to get everything including a desk, microphone headphones monitor ect.

So is there anyway that I can flash my b360m bazooka mobo so it can support the 9400f chip?I don't own any 1151 chips whats should I do ? Is there some kind of way that i can post without a compatible cpu driver? If not any suggestions? Thanks

I need to find the physical dimensions (height specifically) of the the LGA1151 socket with a CPU installed as I'm dealing with some low clearance heatsinks. I was able to find this LGA1150 socket application guide which showed this information: However, I can't for the life of me find the same guide for the LGA1151. Does anyone have an LGA1151 mobo and CPU sitting around that they can put together and measure with calipers? In short I need the dimensions form the top of the motherboard to the top of the CPU's heatspreader/lid. Thanks in advance!

I had recently found out the PSU on my X99 system gave out, and probably took out the poor ASUS X99 Deluxe II motherboard with it .... fingers crossed, hoping my 32GB of DDR4 RAM is still alive. For that reason, I am prepared to get a new CPU + Motherboard if things turns for the worst. I am deciding on which CPU to get: i7-8086K, i7-9700K, or i9-9900K, paired with a motherboard that is comparable to the X99 Deluxe II in features, and overclocking capability (e.g. no crappy VRM system). I thought about going with the X299 platform, but it might be too steep in price. Plus, 12+ cores seems a bit excessive for what I really need (difference between WANT and NEED). Considered Ryzen as well but...these considerations: My EK custom loop currently does not support socket AM4 / TR4 / LGA 2066 (might need to get a hold of EKwb to send me an adapter kit) 32 GB (8GB X 4) of DDR4-3000 CAS 14 G.Skill RAM; not sure how nice Ryzen will get along with those JUST got a quick phone call update: Confirmed X99 motherboard is toast, but RAM is still good. What Z370 / Z390 motherboard would you recommend to pair with the i7-8086K / i7-9700K / i9-9900K ?
