My Asus rog strix G laptop's ips panel is showing strange curved border in dark background that gradually go away with time. Please help

When using the display I notice uniformity problems with whites, especially in the middle (clouding) and right side (slight reddish tint in whites), it is even more noticeable when using Windows Night Light or any similar software. How normal is this for an IPS panel? Previous monitors from other brands and models had dead pixels and this one finally doesn't have any, so I plan to keep this one. Here are some photos. First time poster to the forums. Bought laptop in 2020, used primarily for watching videos with occasional gaming and productivity. Went to nap and when I woke up, this is what happened. Should I go to a repair shop and replace the display? I tried fiddling with the display settings and nothing has changed.

I plan to go to the store either today or tomorrow to see them with my own eyes, I don't recall how they look hehe, I want to buy one soon For those who have OLED, how good is it compared to LCD and LED displays?

Hi, I recently found this black/grey pixel on my asus tuf vg27vq and I don't really know what it is. Depending of viewing angle its either fully black, grey or perfectly fine and what color or content is displayed does not matter. Also I found out that it's "behind" display. As shown in the photos depending from viewing angle its either above the mouse, to the left or to the right. Mouse is in the same spot on desktop. I tried everything - tapping, pressure, stuck pixel sites and videos for hours and it only got a little bit better. What can I do about it? Is it a pixel or very unlucky case of dust under display?

VLC allows showing a video in its original soze, or doubling the size. For 480p content, this works on a monitor resolution height of 960 or more. But it seems to only allow this setting in windowed mode. Also, minimal imterface still shows window borders and other distractions. I want "full screen" to work as a blanking mechanism to just show the video in the output setting of original or double, and hide everything else. I must be missing something. For those of you wondering why someone wouldn't want full height video, is that some resolutions don't evenly match others. 480 video in full-frame 4:3 is (you already know). so on a 1080p monitor, a full screem 480p video is not properly represented, pixel for pixel. Somewhere along the line, the image is being stretched or manipulated. I have tried for a couple minutes to zoom in extensively, and look for any abnormalties in 480p stretched to 1080p height, and I couldn't find any noticable distortions. I thought I would, but I'll keep testing. I have a feeling this is more important than we can visually perceive with our eyes. Just because we are completely unaware of the very un-noticable distortions, does not mean we should blatantly ignore them. The very same goes for watching low resolution 480p shows, or movies, at full height 1080p on streaming services. Unless they are cropping pixel at the top and bottom, then all viewers are subject to pixel interpolation--in fact I'm not sure that would fix interpolation eithwr. 480 is just not a multiple of 1080 so the only way to do it right is to have letterbox borders--just having the option would be enough. It may seem picky, but I think this is an issue that deserves so much more awareness. We all spend hundreds or a couple hubdred on high-quality TVs, only for the content on them to be distorted by the video streaming platform. No network will ever give a care about something they, nor you nor I can actually perceive, so it won't change, but I think we should still be aware and understand this issue.

Hello, So i was wondering if it's possible to attach a 30 pin connector of the LCD monitor to the 40 pin socket of the Dell Inspiron 15 5558. Since my monitor of the laptop broke and i don't need a touchscreen for it, an LCD would suffice. So im curious if it would work connecting it this way. Or if i would need to pay double for a replacement touchscreen instead of a normal LCD.

Hello! I want to seek some help and guidance regarding the laptop I bought earlier this year, last July specifically. It was a great deal. I was endorsed with a ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502IU-AZ077T model with a Ryzen 7 4800HS + Radeon Graphics, Nvidia GTX1660 Ti with max-q design GDDR6, 16 GB of ram rated @ 3200mhz and a 1080p @240hz 3ms screen. By the time I settled my transaction with the seller, all went well. The package came 2 days upon payment and as soon as I tested the unit, I notice an issue regarding the display it came up with. I was looking for the 240hz option for the refresh rate, but I was unfortunate to locate it. After some setup and a little bit of modification, I thought of the display drivers, thinking the 240hz option will pop out as soon as I update it to the latest driver, but it didn't do anything. I checked every device information regarding my display, and it is showing a resolution of 3840 X 2160 @ 60hz as recommended. I scrolled through other options like, setting my display on 1080p, hoping the 240hz option will pop out, but it doesn't appear so. I was thinking, did the 1st owner swapped out his/her display panel? or this issue can be solved through another possible way? If so, I hope this community can help me with my issue. Thank you.

So, i recently got this new LCD BenQ monitor. (Model name is in the title) I waited for it to heat up from the cold, and then i finally turned it on. I played a few games for about 20-30 minutes, and then, suddenly, this annoying blue line appeared. I haven't done any damage nor have i spilled anything on the monitor. What could be an easy fix to this problem? (All of the service centres are closed atm because of the coronavirus, so I won't be able to bring it to them for about 2 weeks..)

I've been wondering for a long time now if percentage figures for brightness distribution really matter when purchasing a laptop for professional photo editing. I read a review about a laptop I want to purchase (on NotebookCheck) and it says that it has a brightness distribution of 86% and a maximum brightness of ~400 nits, but I like it because it covers the sRGB spectrum and it is color accurate. Are these figures important, or something that I should worry about? Would I notice any issues during normal use and while editing photos? Does anyone have any experience with the effects of brightness uniformity on their monitor? I'm asking this so I can stop freaking out about the topic and I'd appreciate any answers. Thanks!

My System Info Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 Operating System: Windows* 10 Pro (10.0.18362) Physical Memory: 8123 MB Current Resolution: 1366 x 768 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-5010U CPU @ 2.10GHz Processor Speed: 2095 MHz Processor Graphics in Use: Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 Shader Version: 5.0 OpenGL* Version: 4.4 OpenCL* Version: 2.0 * Microsoft DirectX* * Runtime Version: 12.0 Hardware-Supported Version: 11.1 * Built-in Display * Display Type: Digital DDC2 Protocol: Supported Gamma: 2.2 Connector Type: Embedded DisplayPort Device Type: Built-in Display Maximum Image Size Horizontal Size: 13.39 inches Vertical Size: 7.48 inches Supported Modes 1366 x 768 (60p Hz) The Question.... Can I Extend or increase my Display's Resolution beyond 1366x768? Will it break something? Story Time I know that 1366x768 has 1049088 pixels and 1920x1080 has 2073600 pixels so it sounds totally impossible but here's where it gets interesting. VMware Workstation Pro 15, if you install Windows 10 (I tried it with Mac OS Mojave, Yosemite and Snow Leopard and it didn't work, although it works great in other Linux or Windows based OS) it let's you choose custom resolution in the Display Settings -> Display Resolution. It let's you choose from 800x600 to (are you ready?) 5k and guess what? if you select even 5k it works. Granted it don't have the pixels required for 5k Output and man it was an ordeal to switch back from the tiny display. But 1920x1080 it's something else. The display is not crisp and sharp but it's usable to say the least . If you take a screenshot or record the screen inside the VM, it comes in the Crispy Clear 1080p. It works like a charm (More or less) So, if I have to make a tutorial or something, I just switch to the Windows 10 VM and it just works. Going beyond 1080p is not at all worth it. Although I have tried both 4k and 5k and used a screen recorder inside the VM and took some screenshots, it just works as intended. (just waiting for them to add 16k support and then I will dethrone Linus *Evil Laugh*) Now I did some digging and found out that many people have managed to increase their screen resolution beyond native. I understand it will be relatively blurry but 1080p is usable and if I can somehow get it for my Main Host OS Windows 10, it will be amazing. I will still try everything out there but just wanted to ask you guys if I might somehow destroy my PC (It is the only thing I have, no secondary) Let me know if I can do it to the Host. Thanks a lot guys in advance and for reading the post. Cheers

Hello My laptop screen is broken in the bottom part of it in a rectangular shape without screen impact When I was programming in Windows 10 one day, a pink tint appeared on that part of the screen, so I eventually rebooted to see if that problem disappeared and it didn't At some later time, the Windows 10 taskbar moved from a pink to a green tint after showing it after logging in Later, I discovered that part of the screen had a pink tint on white stuff and a green tint on gray stuff I later booted to Arch, did the updates, rebooted and played some Minecraft (probably with a green tint) And finally, I opened the laptop's screen today, and that part of the screen now has a white image with kinda pink tint on the gray background of GNOME Terminal with more of that pink tint at the left side and a green line at the very top of the broken part (but the area of the Minecraft hotbar gets "burned in" after some time when it gets rendered) I don't think it's an iGPU issue, because OBS records the screen clearly and I don't think it's a screen impact, because the shape of the broken part is unusual for a screen impact and the screen doesn't get worse when moved around (unlike the TV in my flat which had a screen impact and got eventually replaced by another TV) You can see the laptop I use in my profile and see a gallery of the broken screen by clicking this link: https://imgur.com/a/vetTTxw

Smallest LCD display for DIY HUD in ski goggles
steffen_anywhere posted a topic in Hobby Electronics
Hey guys, since quite a few people here are into quads, might as well ask here. I'm looking for the smallest LCD you can find to use with a raspberry pi. This is just out of curiosity, since it'd be cool to know what is out there. Because why not build your own wearable i.e. connected ski goggles or something along those lines... Anything around 1-2 inches diagonally would be interesting, maybe FPV goggle replacement screens, but I don't really know too much about those, hence why I'm asking the RC people. Thanks for any hints -
Hey LTT. Just this morning I woke up to find my phone screen covered in this black and bluish something that almost completely obstructed the screen. I think the LCD screen might've leaked or something but I'm no expert on things like this (the smudges are below the top screen, and the touchscreen still works fine). Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Thanks a ton in advance! Pics: http://imgur.com/a/27VTJ EDIT: By the way, it was working just fine last night, and it hasn't been dropped or anything since then.

Hi, after reading plethora of monitor buying guides, I've decided to buy one of these three Benq models. What I need are good counter-arguments, i.e. why not to buy one of these three, perhaps 'coz of some useless or adversary feature, so that I can pick a winner. My favourite is EW2770QZ, 'coz of the Brightness Intelligence Plus Technology. EW2770QZ, BL2710PT, GW2765HT. My use case: my priorities are America first, productivity second. Games are irrelevant, but I kinda like movies, but not shaky ones, I mean, the action movies..., I mainly read PDFs, browse the web, do some programming (lots of letters), obviously, my main concern is eyestrain and eye fatigue, as well as sleep disorders, I will use a recent AMD card running on Linux (Fedora, maybe elementary or Ubuntu), never on windows or apples. My requirements: 27" QHD matte screen Pivot not-glossy design & thin bezels would be nice FlickerFree IPS (considered VA, but BenQ has no 27" VA) blue light filter anything else worth mentioning? Could you help me (not to) pick a monitor? The differences seem too subtle for me to decide. P.S.: There is a lot of 4k fanboys out there, so I'll just point out that the usefulness of 4k has been comprehensibly evaluated by myself and eventually rendered grotesque, absurd and utterly useless. I just don't buy it! I think QHD on 27" is overabundant (a.k.a. plethora) for my purposes, 4k on 24" is just absurd and I have no money (nor see the need for) 4k on 28". It'd require tremendously strong argument to persuade me, though provided there is some, I'm happy to change my mind.
