I received a Lenovo ideapad touch and it came almost fully charged and completely functional i even installed pop is and then instead installed windows. It did not come with a charger so I bought a Lenovo charger for my specific laptop. By the time I got the charger in the mail it had died originally it blinked to tell me it was dead now it’s too dead to even do that. When I plug in the charger it doesn’t work I tried replacing the charging port and still nothing any ideas?

Hi, recently I dropped my Lenovo Legion 5 Laptop 39,6 cm (15,6 Zoll, 1920x1080, FHD, WideView, 300nits, 165Hz, entspiegelt) Gaming Notebook (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, Win 10 H). The display seems to be broken. It won't even light up a little. My guess, it's dead. I can still power on the laptop but it shuts itself off after around 15 secs. Do these kind of laptops refuse to boot if no monitor is plugged in/the display is broken? Im currently not at home and can't test with an external monitor via HDMI. It's keeping me restless and I really need to know if there is some hope left. Would appreciate it if someone experienced a similar situation and can give me some insight on my problem. Do you guys think the whole thing is broken or is this a Lenovo thingy, where it won't boot without a display? Thanks in advance

Looking for a gaming laptop to take on the road with me for around $2200 usd and need some help! I want something current gen (doesn’t matter intel, AMD or nvidia) Would prefer a 17” display (Resolution is more important than refresh rate) Battery life and weight don’t matter to me as it will always be plugged in and not transported much. There’s just so many options out there and I haven’t bought a laptop in 10+ years. Bonus points if anyone knows of a killer Black Friday deal as that’s around the time I’m looking to purchase

Hi! First post so apologise if I'm posting this in the wrong place but here we go: I have a 2017 Macbook Pro 13 with 8 GB RAM and essentially it's slowing down to the point it's sometimes unusable, especially since I am studying electrical engineering and it plain struggles. I probably should get a replacement but I already have a fully capable PC recently built and don't wanna shell too much on another device which would most likely be only used in at university, because most things I can just use my PC for. I tried the whole remote desktop thing but I don't wanna keep my whole PC on all the time and wake on Lan doesn't consistently work. I could go for a refurbished or cheap new, and no idea if it should be windows or mac, as I like having a mac just in case i need to do mac stuff and I have an iPad so some ecosystem stuff is nice. Ideally, I just want something of good value that will last a bit. Would appreciate any opinions!

I feel like a broken record at this point but, I once again am here to ask for support. Recently, I've been looking for a laptop, I have a pc but I find myself looking for something that I can work on since my pc is mainly used for ''wasting time''. The laptop would be used for coding, 3d design and trading (a lot of tabs..). I came across a good deal on a Dell Latitude 5430 with an i5 1245u, 16gbs of ddr4 3200Mhz, 256GB nvme SSD and it also has a neat touch screen. The processor in question has 10 cores 12 threads but only 2 are performance cores. I haven't come across a similar processor in my past and I was wondering if it's still good aka how does it compare to other processors in that price range. If anyone has any experience or any thought, it would be greatly appreciated. Here's the laptop link https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/latitude-5430-laptop/spd/latitude-5430-laptop/gctol5430usvp?redirectTo=SOC Currently on sale for around 700$

Hey Guys, Back here again after long. I've got a new laptop and been playing around with it for almost a year. So far i have Disassembled it, removed the crummy stock vrm pastes and applied Gelid thermal pads and Kryonaut for the CPU and GPU. The temps have been stable around 50- 55 C although they do shoot up to 100 as soon as I render something in blender or play a demanding game. Nature of the beast, I guess. I'm here again to ask you guys (and hopefully @unclewebb if he's inclined to help again :)) if my current settings are looking alright and I'm not doing something obviously stupid that's holding back performance. Right now I'm only playing around with the CPU Core and CPU cache settings and reducing it by a point each week (to test stability under different use cases as i go about my day). So far its stable at the current settings. Some of My questions I'd like answered are: Do I leave Thermal velocity boost checked on or off? I've seen people say it's good if you have a system with a proper cooler, others say it takes away performance as the computer reaches higher temp thresholds. So, i''m a bit confused about this. What about VRM stress and Ring Down? Is it safe to increase the turbo ratio limits while the cpu is undervolted? Do I need to change anything in TPL window that might help? I have a feeling I can play around with the speedshift min-max to get more juice out for my work? Thanks a ton in advance for your help and insights!

Hey guys, I am looking for something portable, like a laptop, tablet or 2-in-1 that fit my requirements. Which are (in order of importance): 1. Ability to use Desktop chrome (ie. with extensions) 2. Great battery life (Claim >14-15h) 3. 13" screen or greater 4. Detachable keyboard 5. 8gm ram or greater Able to display 4k, 60hz (a nice to have) As an fyi, the Lenovo duet 5 (chromebook) was perfect for me, only downside is that the screen seemed pixilated when I was using it. It is a 1080p OLED display on the 13", so maybe that's why? Not to sure. Any recommendations would help.

So I got accepted into the engineering school of my dreams recently and now that that process is over, my next question is what do I do about a computer? I plan to bring my Windows desktop (i512400f/16gb@3200/3070ti 8gb/2tb nvme SSD) for gaming (and am open to using it for CAD and such (we use Solidworks and MatLab at this school) if I don't wanna use the computer labs) but what I am stuck on is for a laptop. Personally speaking, I hate Windows on a laptop. I can live with it on a desktop but Windows laptops (I've used 7/10/11) have never worked out for me for a variety of reasons, so I much prefer MacBooks even with their downsides. I am aware that I won't be able to run my software natively (though a VM could work) and think between my desktop and the school labs I will be fine. I am thinking about a 15inch air (24gb/1-2tb) in partnership with my Windows desktop, but am curious what other people think about it. If I went with Windows I would probably go XPs 15 or an HP Spectre (and maybe dual boot Linux on there). What do you guys think? Any specific recommendations?

Hello every one so I have hp omen 15 with i7 10870h CPU which consume 45 watt and rtx 3070 which consume 140w. The issue is when the the gpu boost to 1980 mhz with 100-115w the CPU consume below 20 watt and my fps become really bad. I try to undervolt the GPU to 1560 mhz which give me good performance but all my games crash even some times shutdown the laptop. Also I noticed that when ever I try to use dlss games automaticly crash. I formatted my pc multiple times and installed drivers but nothing changes. I also check if my gpu have problem but all things seems fine so what should I do?

My Asus x515 laptop crashed this morning "IQL not valid" or something similar. I reset the power (as the battery broke off the board a year ago I just unplugged the charger). The machine would light up the power indicator and no activity on screen or from drive and fan. When holding power it turns the light off and then comes back. Any help please tried different ram. This is my only laptop and can't afford to replace Thank you for reading

The core clock of my gpu is different depending on which display I am using. If use my laptop's screen, the mhz reaches a consistent 2000mhz+ which is the standard performance for rtx 4050, however, if I use an external monitor the clock speed gradually declines then it reaches to the point where it won't even reach the lowest bare minimum which is 1605mhz. Regardless, the cpu performance seems to be stable and curiously, the usage percent of the gpu on either display seems to be similar. Is this normal? need your help guys.

Well, after going on drunken tirades about how smartphones are terrible because they are capable of so much more than developers are willing to do, I decided to completely throw all of my phones away (not really, I just put them all in a closet, never to use them again), because they arbitrarily cannot run games and apps they easily are able to. I already knew fully well that what I wanted in a phone was a laptop, as smartphones are basically pretending to be them anyway. So anyway, because I absolutely hate phones now, I need a way to connect to a cellular network without them. How do I use a laptop to do this? Laptops with cellular built-in are extremely overpriced, to the point of making anything Apple or NVIDIA makes seem like the Costco hot dog in comparison. Why would I pay $2000 for what is a relatively basic $450 laptop just because cellular apparently dramatically increases its price? Remember, laptops have way more space to fit everything than phones do, so putting cellular features in a laptop is actually way easier than trying to cram every feature that phones have into their tiny size. I get that cellular hardware itself does technically cost money, but fitting it in even an Ultrabook (and I don't even care if the laptop is small) should not be difficult if phones can do it! I understand a maybe $50 price increase, but this is like a $1500 just because of cellular! How the hell is cellular hardware almost the price of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 if phones are able to fit this and much more in a tiny package for $900? What the hell? I feel so stupid for being unable to comprehend this! Can someone explain like I'm five? So it was clear that the only way was to buy a cellular dongle to connect to a cellular network so I can call an Uber on my laptop. Except how do I go about buying one? I know they exist, but where? I could try asking my carrier if they have any. If you all know of any, please link them! As for the laptop itself, you know what they say about buying used... Cannot wait for a GTX 1080 Max-Q with 2 TB of storage!

Hi All, As the title states, I have noticed that when playing Satisfactory that my laptop gets a higher and more stable framerate while on BATTERY rather than the power brick. I have adequite ventilation space, Vents are not obscured, and I am using the included charger for my device. Please advise! Specs: Lenovo P15v Gen 3 AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H Nvidia RTX A2000 64 GB of DDR5 4800 MT/S Game is running on a 1 TB WD PCIE 4 NVME drive Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64 bit (Build 19045.3570) Thanks again all

I recently bought an HP EliteBook 840 G6 from my local electronics recycling centre. It has a BIOS admin lock on it that's preventing me from changing settings I have already tried clearing the CMOS several times but HP Sure Boot will always make a backup of the BIOS even if the CMOS is cleared. I can't get in contact with guy who originally owned it since ERA doesn't keep those kind of records. There is also no error code when you enter the password wrong 3 times so bios-pw.org is not an option. I don't have a soldering iron so I cant reprogram the bios chip. I was able to get into windows through recovery mode but I still need to reinstall it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need this laptop for school.

Noticed some very weird behavior of my laptop cpu after a clean install of windows. While benchmarking the cpu usage refuses to stabilize and power usage fluctuates between 12 and 17 watts even though the system has a 15w power limit. Intel xtu also shows the cpu power limit throttling while well below the 15 watts target. does anyone have a clue what could be the cause? Temperatures never exceeded 75°c during testing. lowering the power target yields the same fluctuating power and cpu usage. before the clean windows install it would be rock steady at 100% and 15 watts update: Increasing logging speed in intel xtu makes this even weirder. the cpu drops to 10watts for brief moments, only to then spike to 20 watts for a third of a second or so and then stay stable at 15 watts for a few seconds only to drow to 10 watts again. hwinfo shows the same tdp fluctuations update 2: this behavior only happens when the laptop is plugged in. When it is not plugged in it runs perfectly stable
