"System" task is constantly waking up my dgpu. Every 3s it changes from "gpu 0 3d" to "gpu 1 copy" in task manager which ends us in disgusting battery performance. Hw monitor shows that gpu jumps from 1w to 11-16 wats when system does it. I have done reinstalls, power plans, battery checks. I don't believe that laptop with the most efficent power plan with 42kwh battery can discharge in 1,5 hours if im lucky and having max 1 site open when the producer says that it can do 5h of light tasks. Also i can't test what would happen if i killed system because win won't let me do it. ps the intel igpu is not overworked, 20-30% max load Gpu model: 1660ti maxq system: win 10 laptop model; hp pavilion gaming 15 cpu 10300h

Hi everyone, I would like to know if anyone has experience with the Dell Precision 5560. I recently bought one off of eBay and noticed the idle temps reaching 100C (HWMonitor). The fans kick on, and the laptop cools to about 96-97C. When I have a VM running on it, the fans will kick in after a while, but that seems normal as that is quite some load. I have cleaned the cooling fins, fans and repasted the CPU and GPU (MX4). I have contacted Dell, and they just turned off the ExpressCharge feature giving me that as a reason for the overheating, but that didn't fix anything other than my laptop charging slower. They then asked me to perform a hardware check and send them screen shots of the screen after the tests have run. I haven't heard back from them, and doubt they know what is causing the overheating. I'm tempted to try liquid metal, but am kind of scared as I have no experience with it. Note: the room temperature is between 22C and 24C. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm a newcomer to Canada and need advice on the best time to buy a laptop within a $700-$800 CAD budget. It will be used for basic and development tasks, and I'm specifically looking for anything Intel i5 10th gen/Ryzen or newer, 256GB or more storage, 16GB RAM, and a size of 14 inches or smaller, type-c charging or 256gb/m1 MacBook if possible. Considering the late December/early January timeframe, I'm wondering if it's an optimal time to buy now or if I should wait for year-end deals. Any insights on student discounts and recommendations for reliable stores or online platforms would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

Hello, I'm an aspiring 3d artist and a not so hard-core gamer. I have an Acer Aspire 7 gaming laptop which I bought about 3 years ago. Now the issue is since last couple of months it's giving me BOSD errors specifically -DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR whenever I try to open a 3d application or try to play a game. I tried to contact Microsoft, Acer and Nvidia but they couldn't help me and just suggested me to go to a repair shop. I went to a repair shop but the thing is where I live, I don't think they are very well skilled to repair this kindda mess. So they said they couldn't fix it and just told me to buy a new PC. (NOTE- when I disable my dedicated GPU the PC works fine but as soon as I enable it the PC crashes on the last frame, but what good is a pc without a GPU right??). Fixes I have tried till now- 1. Reset it 3 times. 2. Updated all the drivers. 3. I showed it to a technician (who i think was not so skilled). Please help me out as I currently cannot afford to get myself a new PC. link-https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dxaveU_GNKurJwDLz1-PfJpSWfgHzOSS?usp=sharing ALSO, I had issues with the perfmon command for some reason i was not able to save the performance report even though I opened it as an administrator info.nfo

I got a gaming laptop like a year ago its an ROG Zephurys M16 GU603HM, the issue is that a few weeks ago it started to show some lines in the lower part of the screen I thought it was a glitch or something after a while I realized it was a burned image from whatever is displayed for a long time on the screen, I wanted to know if there is a way to fix this issue, if I should try to replace the entire screen or if its just going to die eventually would appreciate any help. I send a picture i took with my camera of my screen you can clearly see the afected area, other than it usually works fine, It took me so long to notice as I use 2 monitors and the main one (which is the one with the issue I usually have black backgrounds so I couldnt noticed the burns at all)

I also know some models had backlight on the keyboard, could i install that on mine? if there are anymore things i could do (apart from the obvious: ram, ssd, Etc..) let me know.

Hi there, I have a work laptop and my personal laptop. Both are Lenovos and I work with a dual monitor setup, exchanging the thunderbolt cable when I want to use one over the other. I'm wondering if there's a KVM setup that'll work with my existing docking setup (Lenovo), something like two thunderbolt cables going into a KVM then into the dock. Does this exist? Or is there another way of accomplishing this? It'd be nice to toggle between both setups easily. Thanks

Hi guys ! I want to get second M.2 NVMe ssd for my laptop (TUF A15 FA506QM) and have trouble figuring out which would be compatible. Asus support wasnt helpful at all. So I want to get 2 TB ssd like kingston fury renegade or Crucial P5 plus, problem is some people and asus supp say you can fit maximum 1 TB ssd and they dont explain why. (firmware reasons?? ) Also that u have to use 3.0 Pcie ssd (laptop has only NVMe 3.0 PCIe slots) and that you cant use 4th gen one (thats BS no?) really wanna get 4.0 PCIe for future use and I thought its all backwards compatible. Thanks for help !

Hi there, I'm from Australia, and I'm hoping for some guidance on increasing the storage on my MSi GX70 Destroyer laptop. When I bought the MSi GX70 laptop in 2015, it came with 1x SATA 2.5 HDD slot and 2x mSATA SSD slots: 1x mSATA slot: has a Plextor 256GB mSATA SSD (came with the laptop, still being used) - at least 10 years old 1x empty mSATA slot: I installed a Samsung 850 Evo mSATA SSD (still being used) - almost 10 years old 1x SATA slot: I recently installed a Crucial 1TB 2.5 SSD (brand new, installed 19th of November 2023) The 2x mSATA slots are on a "MS-16F33 MSI GT70 GT60 SSD Board Adapter" - is there an M.2 or SATA adapter that I can replace the board adapter with? mSATA SSDs from trusted brands are way out of my budget, and I've had no luck with M.2 to mSATA adapters, which leaves me with 2x options: Bite the bullet and buy Samsung T5's then open them up to retrieve the Samsung 860 Evo mSATAs inside Find a board adapter to replace the MS-16F33 that came with the laptop I would really appreciate help on this, thank you

Hi, long story short, I have a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop that's been with me for over 10 years. Throughout 9 years the laptop has never failed me once, until now. Whenever I press the power button, the laptop will power on but never shows the Lenovo screen and pops up the Windows' The status indicator will blink at a constant rate and I'll have to wait longer than 30 minutes or never to show up at all. The occurrences are constant, and the Lenovo screen pops up are completely random. Here are all the components replaced on the laptop: - LCD screen - Wifi card - Battery - Daughter board - Subwoofer - New Thermal Paste - RAM (even replaced the stock RAM) - HDD (Replaced to Samsung EVO 870) At this point, I've already did everything: - Fresh copy of windows - Removed all the apps except important files and document - Set BIOS to default - Even after pressed the system recovery button it'll also never boot - Disabled all startup apps I checked the last BIOS time in Task Manager and it shows 4.5 seconds which is contradicting of what I observe. Any tech tips can help? I am really ran out of ideas here.

I’ve been using my rx6700s g14 for just over a year now with no problems but about three months ago all of the sudden I was getting horrible performance across the board in games. It looks like the GPU is having random dips in utilization from around 90-100 all the way down to 10-20. I’ve also noticed that the CPU is only at around 20% utilization. Is that normal?

I have got a problem with my laptop (Lenovo LOQ 16APH8 82XUOO57MH) on every other boot. Every single time I boot after shutting down my laptop using windows 11, the laptop tries to boot, the screen goes off and I can't press anything to change this. If I then shut down the laptop using the power button, and restart it, it boots up fine. I have noticed that on that first boot every time I can not go to the boot selector screen, the second boot always works in regards to that. I think this has happened because of a driver update, because I did not have this issue at first. I have searched online for potential things to troubleshoot, but I could not find anything that seemed to help me. Also on the first boot it does NOT show a loading circle, but on second boot it does. I would gladly appreciate if anyone wants to help, because this is an annoying issue.

So recently, due to water damage, I have been looking for a new laptop. For freelance and school reasons, I need it to be pretty powerful. Based upon the pricing of what is available to me, these seem like my best options: HP OMEN 16-u0380nd i7-13700HX 16.0" RTX4070 (€1800) ASUS ROG Strix G17 G713PI-HX070W (€1850) Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16IRH8 i7-13700H 16.0" RTX 4070 (€1950) Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16ARX8 AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX (€2100) Due to some benchmarks I found online, I'm not sure whether or not the upgrade on the CPU is actually worth it. (Of course I prefer the 16" laptops, but I'm fine with choosing a bigger form factor if I get more performance.) Can someone help me choose, or are there any other suggestions you can give me?

this is currently on sale for 500 Euro. Is there something equally good? I dont need the touch screen, I dont need the yoga flex option. I only need the lappy for surfing and youtube, and g suite in the cloud. Hey there folks, so while sick mother nature decided to kick me while down and make me have a coughing fit so hard I spilled my tea over my laptop. A old ThinkPad from 2018. Now I am looking for a budget replacement. It shouldn't be to heavy so I can carry it around to and from Uni and it be great if I could use it for some light Indi gaming. If there was support for a dock it be great. I was considering another ThinkPad as I got my last one used at this store, and I have no issues with getting another refurbished device, but I am simply overwhelmed by the amount of options and don't quite grasp what CPU name means what or is better. I would be deeply grateful if you could give this sicko a recommendation.

Hello all. Have any of you used either or both of these. Would you recommend? Or something else? I'm leaning more towards the Asus since it's under 1k. Would seem to fit what I need and from what I saw it is well built. The acer one seems good too cause I could potentially do some light gaming. Meaning I probably wouldn't game too much on it. But the power might be good too. I Had posted before about recommendations on a laptop that would be somewhat compatible to MacBook air M1 in terms of build and screen quality. Keyboard, trackpad and snappiness. Since I laptop for work and school. Mostly data stuff. Like excel, sql, power bi. Thanks everyone for any input. Acer x 14 ASUS X14

Heyy A few months ago, I used to play Fortnite on my laptop with medium to high settings using DirectX 12, consistently achieving around 100 FPS. However, a couple of months ago, I started experiencing frequent crashes. Initially, downloading all the skin textures helped, but the problem resurfaced after a week or two. The only solution was reducing my rendering mode to "Performance - Low Graphical Fidelity," which now gives me around 200 FPS. Recently, I attempted to play with higher graphic settings again, but even in the menu on DirectX 11 (still a older api than 12), I now get only 45 FPS even in just the menu. It seems like my laptop has out of nowhere downgraded itself and I want help fixing If anyone has insights or suggestions on how I can identify and rectify the problem, please share. If additional information is needed, please let me know, and I'll do my best to give it Thank you for your help! Specs of Laptop

Hello all, Have not shopped for a Laptop for a long time. I have no clue anymore what chips are good and what brands are top in qualify. Last I remember the XPS13 was top notch. But anyway. I need a laptop. I was thinking of just getting a MacBook Air M1 at Costco for $799.99. (Since that's what I recommend my family when they ask lol) But don't feel like learning excel and productivity shortcuts again. Could I ask this forum for recommendations at a sub $1,000 that will compare to the Air M1? Looking for a snappy pc, mostly doing data analysis. Excel. Not looking to game on it. Also want the keyboard to be great. Same for track pad. Hopefully build quality is good too. Lots to ask. Maybe not possible on a the windows platform. Edit: what would be something comparable not necessarily at the $800 could be more. Thanks.

Greetings Everyone! My sister's laptop for some reason drains too quickly, charged at 100% and it'll die in around 20-27 minutes (Microsoft estimation) which is pretty accurate if not quicker. I tried resetting the battery using the pinhole at the back of the laptop but I think that just made it worse and is now stuck charging at 24% although it seems the battery drain estimation is more accurate now. I also did the acer care center checkup on the battery and it says "Battery Life has degraded due to longterm use", does that mean the battery is dead?? Or do I just have to calibrate something any help would be much appreciated thank you!

Hello everyone. I'm having trouble making this old laptop working again. I wanted to give it a cleanup and reinstall Windows on it, as I've done a million times with other PCs, even much much older ones, without trouble. I don't think most people will recognize the model because but: -Model name: CX9114W -CPU: Intel Atom x5-Z8350 -RAM: 2GB DDR3 -Storage: 32 GB eMMC Firstly, I tried a system reset from Windows. I don't remember how the exact option was called, but at some point it asked me if I wanted to fully delete data, as to start fully new when the process finished. It didn't ask for any sort of boot drive or gave any warning at all, but told me that it would probably take a long time to finish. I didn't mind that, and it started going. After some time, an error appeared, saying that Windows installation failed, and told me to try again. But when I reboot... the same error window appears over and over, there's no way for me to boot. No biggie, I thought, I'll take my Windows 10 USB drive and install fresh. Opened up the BIOS, I can see it as a boot option and when I tell it to boot from there... nothing. In fact, it tried to boot from the broken Windows again. I would try to remove the storage device or anything but it's soldered in and there are no ports (I opened it to check that among other things). One other piece of information about the laptop is that it has an "EFI Shell" (Which I had to look up because I never encountered that before). I couldn't seem to try to get into it again after breaking Windows but I haven't really tried that much for that. Maybe that part is important somehow? I there anything I can do? I tried messing around with the BIOS settings to check if anything would allow me to boot the Windows installer, which has worked for me in the past, to no avail. I'm getting desperate now and have no idea what I could do. I hope anyone knows the answer or has gone through a similar situation. Thanks.
