Ever since i upgraded to an I9-990K and the ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula Z390 Motherboard, I can not for the life of me host any type of Server, Minecraft, Mordhau, ARK, Nothing. I never had an issue with my last board but im going to assume it HAS to do with it in some way. I have disabled all network Devices aside from the Ethernet Port i am using, I installed drivers for the Aquantia port and have been using that ( My regular Ethernet port had the same issue i am now ) Ports Are forwarded properly, Windows firewall is not the issue. OS - Windows 10 Home CPU - I9-9900K Motherboard - ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula Z390 GPU - RTX 2080 RAM - 64 Gb's DDR4 Storage - Samsung NVMe 1Tb

For some reason I get random disconnects from my ethernet, the wifi works perfectly fine its just the etherenet. Ive checked the cable, replaced the cable, checked the wall adapter, replaced the wall adapter, tried using a diffrent wall socket, checking the router, turning the routrer on and off, checked the wall adapter at the router side, replaced the wall adpater at the router side, tried connecting to the router itself, updated the drivers, unistalled and reinstalled the drivers, checked that windows 10 hadnt had it set to "turn off to save power" or eco mode or what ever its called. It doesnt even have an option for it! Its really annoying as Im getting random disconnects in a games I play, in discord other people in a call cant hear me for a few seconds and then im back. The network controller is a Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller in a Dell G7 17 7790. Its not anything serious and only happens every few days. but more often when im playing games, and even MORE often when im playing escape from tarkov. But thats likely just because of the game at that point cause everyone knows how touchy it is.

I've had a NAS running windows server for a while now and initially speeds were fine (maxing out the 1gb/s when transfering large files) but now for some reason when copying a file to the NAS it sits at almost exactly 100mb/s (10-12MB/s) and won't transfer any faster (both devices are on the same LAN and using iperf the link speed is ~800-900mb/s) Both drives should easily be capable of faster speeds especially for large files, copying the same file from the HDD it's on to the ssd in the same machine copies at ~60-70MB/s and the NAS can copy that file at over 600MB/s.. any ideas? Edit: and for anyone wondering even copying from the NVMe SSD in the laptop to the NAS is still the same speed.

I have one pc with windows 10 installed in it. i use my additional hard disks in that pc and i directly connect it to my pc using a cat5e cable (i get up to 1Gbps). i want to access the files of my computers (both of them) using my laptop and using the computer near the TV to watch films... (not to remote connect and play, to just open the films in my other computer). Can i do it by just buying a switch (i found a cheap switch "D-LINK 1008a" which is 100Mbps [that is fin for me] ) but i still need the access to my second my pc with 1Gbps cuz i edit 1080p 60fps videos using it (according to what i have seen, 100Mbps isn't enough). what if i do the thing in this picture (directly connect the 2nd pc to my main pc using my cate5e cable and the ports of the mobos [as i do now] and add a 100Mbps network card for both my storage pc and my main pc and hook it up to a switch using some cat5 or cat5e [both of them doesn't have a huge difference in the price in my country ] and also connect to a access point and connect it directly to the pc near the TV, and access all the files in all the pc's using any pc..., so that would be separate ). NOTE : I AM NOT CONNECTING THEMTO INTERNET AND ONLY TO SHARE THE FILES. connect using 100Mbps connect using 1Gbps (i have only done this for now) DO I NEED A ROUTER, OR CAN I DO IT ONLY USING THE SWITCH (only to share files) the 1Gbps should be separate from the 100Mbps one which is connected to other devices (because i video edit and sometimes even photo edit using it, so that speed really matters) can i do the thing in the picture without any problem (even its hard), please guide me or will it cause a problem... please help when i click on network i see this ( in this pic there is only my main pc with the shared files... [ i have switched off the storage pc but when its switched on i see that pc here too (only the shared folders and drives) ] ) - so, will connecting the computers twice (one using the 1Gbps and other using the 100Mbps which is also connected to other devices) cause a problem?? if i am wrong please guide me! THANK YOU!

I'm seeing alot of lan problems with the Intel I225-V but they seem to occur with other motherboards aswell. Doesn't seem like I can escape the problem. My internet runs at 25mbs per second but I'd really like to play games without disconnecting which is an issue that some people have. These are my pc parts: -AMD Ryzen 5 5600x -G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2X8) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory -RTX 3070 -Phanteks P500A -Corsair RMx (2018) 850W 80+ Gold https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/MrPenguinMan123/saved/prPjZL

Hello everyone. I have a problem while transfering files to-from my local NAS, only getting upload speeds of 15/20 MB/s, and downloads speeds of 35 MB/s The NAS ( MyCloud EX2 ultra) is conected to the router via ethernet CAT 6 cable. Router: Tp-Link Archer AX10. The PC is conected with a TpLink TX50e, with the latest Intel Drivers for the AX200, no more than 8 feets away from the router, in the same room, getting 1200/1200 speeds on the windows network information. I tried using ethernet, and obviously the speeds where the expected, getting almost 100MB/s download. What can I do? Thanks! ( sorry for my english) PD: Tested with Lan Speed Test, even worst results More Info:

Hello, new PC here w/ MSI B450 Tomahawk Max mobo. I'm trying to connect to the ethernet. All using cat5e cable and they should be good (been switching between cables and they all give the same results). All drivers are up-to-date, I believe, I tried both the ones from Realtek website and the suggested ones on MSI website. There's no power saving or anything similar on. PSU is Seasonic 650W 80+gold. My internet plan is for 1000M. 1. When I connect directly from the wall to my PC, it simply does not connect, and the connection flickers on and off. It can recognize something for like 2 seconds, and then it disappears for 2 seconds, and go on and on like this. When it's briefly on, the lights on the port is: left orange blinking, right green constant. But again, it usually only recognize it for 2 seconds, and it's all off again. 2. I tried to use a UBS port adapter, and it works! However, it caps at 100Mbps. The adapter supports gigabyte, and I have set the speed in both Auto and 1 Gbps full deplex in the driver setting, nothing changes. 3. I have a extender/router from my network company, and when I try to use it (wall->router->usb adapter->pc) using the same cable, it shows that speed is at 1Gbps, but can't configure ip address. I think this is an issue with the company not my setting? At least here, it shows that with the current adapter and the cable, it is possible to reach 1Gbps. Any help would be appreciated. If the issue is with my mobo, I'm ok with using the USB adapter for the time being, but I want to have the full speed. Thanks in advance.

Please indulge me as I make hundreds of mistakes while talking about your hobby/passion/job (or in grammatical mistakes). So I recently wired my house with gigabit ethernet and set up a plex server so I can watch blurays on my tv conviniently, but I was wondering whether my aunt, who lives a mile away, could access these files by accessing my network, and yes plex has remote play, but my upload speeds are a pain (15 Mbps AT BEST) to play anything not compressed, remote play also gives me a lot of headaches for bitrate. So I'm stressing over this idea, if I mounted an antenna access point like the Tp Link CPE510 at both our houses, could I acess those files remotely but with waay faster speeds? So I made this diagram to seek help in setting this up. To clarify, I want them to use my network only for file sharing and plex server viewing, for netflix streaming I want them to use their connection, as their connection is faster and I don't want to downgrade them. Thanks for anyone even having the patience to read this mess.

Hi guys new here, however I have been watching Linus for far to long to even remember. The situation: I want to transfer massive folders to a WD EX4, however its taking days. Its in Raid 1, not encrypted, using ISCSI also. The issue Very slow..diabolical local network transfer speed such as 2Mb/s on AVG peak at 10. Hardware WD EX4 Negear switch My PC cable is all CAT 5e and CAT 6 Seagate Ironwolf pro hard drives. Things I have tried Turning off - Large send offload ipv4 and ipv4v2 and ipv6 Changing speed and duplex from auto to 100mbs full and half and back to auto Turning off Encryption on the nas drives - was not happy as had to re format. Another note on my LAN settings I always have to turn off use proxy server for your LAN .127.0.0.1. what is this and why dose uplay have an issue connecting, I have also tried transfers with this on and off. (This could be from when I set up a server a while ago that is now not in use) why did i choose this....Limitations of money I have built a server in the past to use as FTP and phone back up for when i am out however this is long gone, If i could i would have a server was much easier to use/understand Please guys HELP in some ways I am a spoon, a newbie however in others I am not, just so happens I dont get along with my NAS or network atm.

Working through both LAN and Wifi
tobeornottobealttfan posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
Hello everyone, I use spacedesk while using conference calls to duplicate my laptop's screen so that I can annotate better. Now my WIfi has terrible latency and so connecting through it is a terrible Idea, So, I have to use an USB cable and android's usb tethering, But when I do so, my computer is accessing the web through my phone's internet connection which it gets through tethering (even though it is connected to the WIFI). So what I want is this- The computer will maintain connection to my phone using the LAN (usb tethering connection) + it will access the web through the WIFI connection. Can anyone help me achieve this? Thanks in advance. -
Hello everyone, Recently I encountered an issue with my laptop trying to access my LAN devices, servers and switches. When I go to the IP of my NAS '10.0.0.20' I get hit with firewall blocked this type message in chrome. I allowed all of the IPs I am going to be using in windows defender firewall and bitdefender but I still get the same issue. Also I have tried my lan desktop and my brothers wifi enabled laptop and they do not have issues accessing the servers so. I have also tried pinging a device on the router and it comes back as "General Failure" (I checked my DNS server because I thought it was that and I flushed it in cmd and changed it to 1.1.1.1 to make sure that nothing setup with my DNS servers and VLANS were messing with it because I have subnet blocking enabled for the one wifi network)

After a lan party I carried my pc home and it won't boot. The pc lights up in all its rgb glory and the fans start spinning but no input signal on the monitor. The keyboard doesn't turn on either. I've checked with another pc and ruled out the graphics card, keyboard and monitor. I've also tried clearing the CMOS but that didn't help. So i kinda need help on figuring out what to do next and figuring out what the problem with my pc is.

Hello everybody, I have a bit of an issue with my home network. It is set up as follows: Fiber into an ISP provided ONT/Router from ZTE. Directly to it have run three Gigabit ethernet cables to the following: PC, NAS, second router (TPLink TL-WDR3600 N600) The second router cable is not plugged into WAN, but into one of the LAN ports, just as my Smart TV is connected. I have disabled DHCP on the second router, set a different IP from the one on the main router and i can access its web interface and ping is reliable to it. The TV that's connected to it, via ethernet, has Internet working fine, it can do 4K streaming no problem. However, the WLan on the second router has no internet when you connect to it (my phone says it's connected "no internet") From what I can tell, it is acting as if the "switch" part is working fine and dandy, but the "wifi" part doesn't get internet. The router can ping any device on the network fine, but if I try to ping an external IP it gets timed out. My question would be: Am I missing some setting on either routers or is this second router aging disgracefully and acting up? PS: Apologies if I missed out on a similar discussion, my search throughout the forum earlier didn't seem to fit my case or was too old a topic to revive..

In a network, if you have a central switch near your demark and router, and another switch a couple hundred feet away that will have like, 6 or 8 pcs on it, what would you use to connect the switches? ie, a 24 port in your network closet, and an 8 port at a block of cubicles a ways away. Can a single Cat 5 or 6 run between them handle that traffic?

Hi, Sorry if this has been already talked about, but i couldn't find anything similar (also, I dont really know if this belongs here, sorry if not). So, I happen to have my 4k 21" iMac from work and my gaming pc but no monitor to pair with. I was thinking of ways to use the iMac as a monitor for my PC but this model does not support target display for doing so. so i was thinking of streaming via parsec or something similar from my PC to the Mac. Would it work if I connect the two of them together via the native ethernet ports? ANd if so, Would it be better than just streaming via LAN being both hardwired to the router? I made a quick scheme to help understanding. Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Guys, Got a big Problem here: I use 10Gbit every day and I need it. Since last week my switch does not give out 10Gbit anymore. This worked fine before but since last week I have only 1Gbit instead of 10Gbit on the PC. Here are my Specs: CPU: I7-10700F GPU: RX 6600XT Mainboard: Asus Prime Z490M-Plus RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3200MHz Network Adapter: Asus XG-C100C Network Switch: Asus XG-U2008 My internet provider supports 10Gbit and so does my modem. If I connect the cable from the modem directly to the PC, I get 10Gbit but if I connect it to the 10Gbit port on the switch and then connect another cable to the other 10Gbit port and connect it with the PC, I get only 1Gbit on the PC. If the Port on the switch is blinking blue, it receives 10Gbit data but if its white, it only receives 1Gbit. Check the Picture All Cables are compatible with 10Gbit, Drivers are up-to-date and i didnt change any network-settings or cables. Hope you understand my broke English cause im from Switzerland Thanks Artyimeus

Fios gigabit service with G3100 router started showing weird behavior since almost two weeks ago on my Windows machine. It was struggling loading Youtube videos and when it could, it was streaming at 144p. I Couldn't send emails etc. When running speed test [right in google search] the Download speed was fine (around 900 Mbps) but Upload was around 0.3 Mbps!!! Although when visiting speedtest-dot-net webiste, it was showing that the upload is also fine (around 900 Mbps). Verizon said all is fine on their side. All other devices on the network were fine, no matter wired or wireless (they are phones and Macs - no other windows machine to test) I did all the common troubleshoots. Checked and there was no recent related windows update! Then manually updated intel ethernet driver and non of them worked. But when bypassed the router and connected the ethernet cable right into ONT box, everything was working fine again. So, I thought it might be just the router acting up but that was not probable since all other devices were good. Anyways, I changed the router to a new G3100 to rule that out and not surprisingly the same issue persisted! Eventually I ran into a comment in a Verizon forum that mentioned: "... This is probably an Intel Ethernet NIC issue. Go to your adapter settings and disable IPv6 TCP Checksum Offload. Then test again." So I did that and that solved the problem. I wrote it down so if someone has the same issue maybe they land on this topic. Although not sure if that's a good long term solution. (Any comments on this?) It still bugs how it got started, maybe Verizon pushed a firmware update? I couldn't find the list of their firmware versions and release dates. System: Dell workstation with Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I219-LM controller OS: Windows 11 Enterprise 21H2

Question is pretty much straight forward. I'm currently running an ethernet cable running from my Powerline adapter to my PC so I can get fastest internet speeds available on my line. The router and other equipment is located downstairs on the main floor, where all of the required cabling comes inside my apartment. I can't move that hardware upstairs to my room. I now have a different router (a Cisco EPC3925, supplied by a previous ISP) that I want to use as a LAN. The reason being, I've got a Quest 2 and would prefer to use Air Link. Now, knowing that the downstairs router does broadcast Wi-Fi, it's not a viable solution for me, as the two devices are too far apart and the experience would not be the best. I wanted to connect both Ethernet cables into my PC, and still have access to the broader internet, whilst being connected to the Cisco to use Air Link simultaneously. This has worked before, as I tried it out multiple times, but it's a hit or miss. The reason why I say hit or miss is because sometimes my PC recongises the Cisco router as the "main" router and cuts me off from Internet entirely. It completely disregards the connection that actually connects me to the internet. Is there a way I can set my 100Mbit Ethernet port as the one for Internet exclusively and the 1Gbit port for LAN only?

Hello all, as the title suggests, I'm currently scratching my head trying to find any quality settings regarding streaming my Series X to my home office Desktop PC. I currently have the console in the living room, connected via ethernet, and my desktop PC also has an ethernet cable connected, run through the floor and the basement, etc. So far, I've been really impressed with the low-latency and nearly synchronous native audio and video, however, it is very artifact-y and lacking in color. Are there any settings at all in the Windows 11 Xbox App to improve the video quality of the stream? Would these settings perhaps be on the Series X console itself? Or... am I s$%t outta luck and should be looking for an active HDMI cable instead? (Not really in my budget rn.) Thank you!

Short Problem Description: UTP extender to RJ45 outlet is causing my PC to not be recognizable by devices and the router on my local network even though I have internet on the PC. Long Problem Description: So I have a UTP extender/cable going from the router thru the wall to a RJ45 outlet that I use to connect to my PC, which is great. I have internet on the PC, but the PC is not discoverable by other devices on my local network. I have several laptops, raspberry pi and a phone that I previously could have connected to PC via the local network (I want to do file transfer between my devices without any apps, SMB for my phone and mapping the drive for my laptop). I have set up correct network options as I've done this previously with a direct LAN connection to the router: Network and Sharing Options 1, Network and Sharing Options 2, Network and Sharing Options 3, Network and Sharing Options 4 So the only variable is me changing my residence and the UTP extender, as a result from that my IPv4 Address now starts with 94. instead of 192., which is weird since all other devices (excluding my phone, which seems to be the standard) start with 192. and can connect between each other. Odd part as well is that even though I have internet access my router is not detecting any devices that are connected to it via LAN, my PC does not seem to be connected at all to the router. New IP address Connected Devices to my router while looking at it from my PC (no IP starting with 94.) I have tried various solutions that were online, playing around with enabling certain Services, Static IP address etc. without luck. I feel that this is related to the change in IP address and that somehow the UTP extender has made the PC be "outside" the local network even though it is not. Since I am obviously not skilled with local networking feel free to ask any questions that can help you help me Thank you in advance!

So I have the money, can book a flight, and I have the wife's approval to go, the only problem is, my computer is built into my desk. If I manage to snag myself a ticket, what should I do? I live about 12 hours away, which isn't impossible to drive but about 3 times the cost of flying with Flair. Should I pack up the whole thing and bring it? Should I just bring my monitor and peripherals? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated LTT Team or otherwise

Hello lovely guys from the LTT forum, I have been looking for a solution to this problem everywhere but I ran out of places to look, so you guys are my last hope. I am currently experiencing a lan issue on Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 for about half a year now, where the speed of my wifi chip is significantly faster then the lan chip. Current speed of my provider is 1Gbps down and 50Mbps up, I am getting around 300Mbps down on wifi and around 6-10Mbps on lan. Interesstingly Upload is identicall on lan and wifi. I know that I am using a high quality cat 8 ethernet cable which I recently bought and I also tried reinstalling my network drivers several times. My dad who is on the same network is getting 1Gbps to his pc even through a switch. I also tried every port on my modem, no difference I even tried the switch from my dad to see if it might have some magic built into it , but no luck there. Would be really nice if there might be someone out there who has been experiencing the same issues or has any ideas to solve my issue that I have not come up with.

Hi peeps! Since I put my HNT miner on top of my block and connected it with a LAN cable my router seems to have been going through a rough time of constantly going on and off and losing signal, which is why I am looking for a new router. Can you guys help me and recommend me one. I'm looking for one thats in the range of €50/$52 with 4 LAN ports that also has a great WiFi speed so my family can use it flawlessly. Thank you in advance!

So I spent all day trying to figure out why I was only getting 90mbps until I realized goddamn Spectrum was throttling me. I did my tests directly from the modem. Once solved, I put the router back in line an I'm back down to 90mbps. I switched to an older router and same thing. My router is capable of 1.8gbps. TP-L AX1800. What gives?

So I wanted to try and start a Terraria Server with my friends because I felt that it would be easier if my friends got on when they wanted to and not need me to do it. So I followed a guide that pointed me to the ip for my network provider (Frontier) and I went into the Firewall Section, then into Port Fowarding, logged in and basically followed what the guide told me So after I followed that step, Immediately after my Lan connection stopped working. Thankfully my rig has wifi that I can use but it makes it a pain as it can randomly disconnect and my ping can be very explosive. From my troubleshooting, I figured out that the Lan cable works with a separate computer I have from a lended friend and the connection works just fine. I decided to reinstall windows 10 in the hope of fixing the issue but it has done nothing. I'm left very confused on where to go from here so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have also followed the process of opening CMD as an administrator following the process of Netsh... to try and I guess reset the ip but it hasn't done anything after I've restarted.
