The next hot phone is getting Kickstarted! The NoPhone! It's basically an IPhone but better! It even includes an upgrade for a selfie camera. Basically it's a plastic block made to look like a smartphone and the "selfie camera" is just a mirror. source: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nophone-usa/the-new-and-unimproved-nophone

Where's my super suit? Good News Creepers, i mean Tumblers, Yahoo has made some pretty cool layout changes to the site recently, Tumbler is now offering Clever new action button on certain posts Now when users Link one of their corresponding sites on tumbler , it will actually provide a corresponding related button for the action EG:notice the "get involved" button on the top right corner of the picture Currently the site is supporting 4 sites as a trial Kickstarter, Etsy, Artsy and Do Something .. this addon is put out as a test trial, if it catches attention or does really well down the road they probably are going to make available for more sites like amazon ebay or even bittorrent. instructions on how to summon the button: Find something you love on Etsy, Artsy, Kickstarter, or DoSomething. Post it to Tumblr. That’s it. You were done at step two. The buttons give viewers the option of buying or pledging or getting involved on the spot, currently with a link back to the original page for the item in question. You can also set reminders to take an action later, by sending the address you have registered with Tumblr back to get contacted in the future. interactive gif demo Pretty cool addon for those who are interested in interacting with post directly instead of going the other way around. What are your thoughts on this? Post Your comments Down BEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOEEEE... Hey guys, first post on the forum, but I think you will all really like this. So I browse Kickstarter almost religiously, about twenty days ago I noticed an item called, as the name of this post suggests, Guardian Hardware Monitor for gamers and custom desktop PCs. Naturally, I clicked on it, watched the video, and read the description. In essence what this is is a fan controller, LED controller, and hardware monitor rolled into one, and the way they've brought it together looks like it would be incredibly cool to use. So after following it for the twentyish days that I have, I've noticed that they aren't coming very close to reaching their goal anytime soon (at the time of this post $1,583 out of a $150,000 goal with only 34 days to go). So, I thought that I would bring it here to see if I could expose it to a community that may appreciate what it does, and so I could hear all of your opinions on it. Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/919586016/guardian-hardware-monitor-for-gamers-and-custom-de?ref=users Note: I have not yet backed this project and am not affiliated with this company in any way. Also, since this is my first post, could you please critique it so I can improve in the future? Thanks! B_H_C

I stumbled upon this Kickstarter on my ghetto Icelandic "9gag" feed (www.b2.is) the other day and was... I would like to say that I was interested, here sitting in front of my 144Hz 3D ready screen and all, but truly all I felt was; "oh... 3D. Meh" Link to their Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kula/capture-the-moment-in-3d I don't know how you all feel about it, but what I make out of it is that they are either too late, or too small. By small I mean, who the he** buys something like this and actually uses it as they claim it can be used. The only scenario I feel where it could be applicable would be in teachings and amateurs trying to get into movies and stuff. Otherwise, 3D always requires some sort of a larger investment and physically attaching things to your head to actually enjoy the thing. And at that point, I don't think its worth it anymore. Imagine a scenario where you invite some of your friends over, and you have like this tablet like picture-frames that has a constant slideshow of your pictures, but now they are all in 3D. Guests would literally have to WEAR something to see it. Just... doesn't seem real nor practical. I fail to see any situation where this would be "cool", other than the classroom and educational experience, which apparently is not their targeted market? Nonetheless, I think its cool that the 3D market is getting cheaper. Perhaps someday it will be both practical and meaningful to enjoy it. Until then, Peter Jackson, just do 2D please

Hello Everyone, Before I go further just so you're aware this is basically a promotion of a webseries and Kickstarter my friends and I are working on which has very little to do with technology. If you are easily swayed by stupid marketing techniques please keep reading My friends and I recently began working on a webseries called 'My Name Is Mulan' and we started a Kickstarter campaign to help us fund the first season of the series and would greatly appreciate any help that you could give. The webseries is a modern adaption of the classic tale of Mulan and we have talented people from all around Australia working on the project. We recently released the pilot of the series which you can watch below to give you an idea of what direction we are going for. Our Kickstarter campaign can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mynameismulan/my-name-is-mulan-season-one The success of the Kickstarter will be what determines whether or not we'll be able to continue on with this project, so any donations; help with advertising and sharing with friends would be immensely appreciated and I'l give you an internet cookie. If you have any further questions about the series of the Kickstarter feel free to ask. *Sharing and helping us may or may not grant you an internet cookie* *As for the situation regarding some of our casting choices; I will paraphrase Ubisoft regarding the My Name Is Mulan Team. "This show is being developed by a multicultural team of various faiths, beliefs and race." Thank You.

Alright, So I'm not sure If this is against the code of conduct but I just found an interesting looking kickstarter for a game called The Flood in The Flame. It's an indy game developed by some people who worked on Bioshock,Halo, and those plastic guitar games, and alone it looks like an interesting survival rouge like but the kicker is that it has a soundtrack by one of my favorite musicians, Chuck Ragan, So if this is your kind of thing maybe check it out, Don't worry about backing it, it's already funded. I'm interested to see what other games are worth kickstarting feel free to share.

Welp it begins! Backers are starting to demand refunds, unfortunately its not a investment so they don't have the right to demand and receive a refund. Interesting galactic spin on Sim City / Civilization style game. Watch the video for some info and some of the work they have done themselves without backing. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ideologic/interstellar-incorporated-monopolize-the-galaxy Will definitely get made knowing Ben and his dedication. He has also written a couple of Sci-Fi novels with one on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Ring-Eternity-Mannequin-B-Ranson-ebook/dp/B00956VV5S

Called the Legion Meter and set to cost $49 for anyone wanting to get in on the ground floor, the device plugs in in-between the USB outlet and the charging cable just like a dongle and then sets about working its magic. The upshot is a simple one; with the Legion Meter installed, your devices will charge faster. In fact, they could potentially charge twice as fast, which is an improvement not to be sniffed at. For devices that normally wouldn't get enough juice from a standard computer-based USB port to charge, the Legion Meter will actually allow them to charge as if they were plugged into a wall outlet. That means iPads in particular will be able to charge anywhere there’s a USB outlet, which is impressive enough in itself. For those that like to know what’s going on, the Legion Meter has an on-device display that tells you what it’s doing, and how much power it’s outputting. Here's their Kickstarter video https://d2pq0u4uni88oo.cloudfront.net/projects/915182/video-369844-h264_high.mp4 SOURCE: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/plxdevices/legion-meter-charge-your-smartphone-92-faster

Kotaku: "Lasertag With Swords" Means Pretend Jedi Can Finally Keep Score Kotaku Uk: "Lasertag With Swords" Means Pretend Jedi's Can Finally Keep Score Idk if this has already been put up on here, i looked but didn't find anything, but this look awesome and Linus/Luke need to get it for the new channel to play with. It is basically foam lightsabers that register when you hit the other person so it can keep score. There are even different game modes: ONE HIT TO WIN IT: Self explanatory. Land one successful body hit, and you win. COUNTDOWN: Land three hits to win. METERED DAMAGE: The stronger the blow, the more damage your opponent takes. ETERNAL STRUGGLE: Identical to Countdown, only you can earn health back over the passage of time, or by blocking several blows. HOPELESS: The name says it all. Identical to Eternal Struggle, only you can earn health back more quickly, and with even fewer blocks. Also, the lower your health gets, the less damage you'll take. Its already 150% funded with 11 days left if they get to $200,000 they will come with sheaths!! (for some reason this got stuck as italics, idk why)

The Verge: Kickstarter’s next campaign So kickstater has made 3 major changes to it's platform: "The rules for creators have been simplified from about 1,000 words to less than 300 "Previously banned products are allowed back on the platform." "Projects can now opt to "Launch Now" and bypass Kickstarter’s approval process." It seems like they are making these changes to better compete with Indiegogo, which is less restrictive the Kickstarter. Though before a person can launch or get feedback their project is checked "for rule violations that could take as little as five minutes. That check will now be done by an algorithm that looks at keywords in the campaign, the creator’s track record on Kickstarter, and other metrics to create a profile of the project and compare it to similar projects that have been approved, rejected, flagged, and removed. If the campaign passes the algorithmic check, the creator can choose to either launch without a human review or request feedback from the Kickstarter team." This will greatly speed up the approval process and make things more efficient. How do you guys like the changes? Do you think they will help or hinder kickstarter? Do you think they shouldn't have changed?

Hi guys, I recently started actively backing kickstarter projects and I have found a game that looks pretty awesome and unique. It is called "Insignificant". You play a 2 inch tall player in a world full of regular sized things. Imagine if the guy from Shadow of Colossus were in a world made for the Colossi. It is made like Elder Scrolls to an extent. Loot exists. It is RPG in nature with stats, leveling, and proficiencies. An example of loot is that the main character has tin foil for armor and a needle for a weapon. That is just one example though. That is the type of open world RPG this is. I hope you guys like it enough to pledge. :D Thanks, Vitalius

So, basically if anyone has played Starcraft and felt bad Blizzard hasn't released a MMO, well don't be more, Upheaval arts has got you covered, SCU is a free game playable by anyone who owns the free (Starter Edition) of Starcraft II, and yes, the intro is playable as of right now in SC2 launcher. Now, this game is independant from Blizzard, and is running a Kickstarter to get funded, so here it is http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/747939120/starcraft-universe Screnshots seem amazing, characters are fun to play, and ti seems really promising, so I would like if you guys could check it out. (For all SC fans, if they hit $1,000,000 dollar mark, they will recreate the whole Koprulu sector, oh yeah!)

Hi guys, Patreon is a website for content creators to have a venue to make their content profitable in some way, except that it is not technically profit as you do not pay for the content. Essentially, the way it works it as such: You make an account. Enter your details (information for paying the pledge such as CC information) along with whatever you want to add to your profile. You find an artist you like who does something you are interested in such as making videos to teach you a foreign language, creating music, drawing pictures/paintings, making comic books, or reviewing movies and such. Then you pledge to donate $X per piece of content they produce (a video, a song, a painting, a comic, a review, etc). At the end of the month, however many pieces of content they have made decides how much you pledge (you can create a hard cap on the total you give per month) and it is charged to you. You can offer to pledge anywhere from $0.25 per piece of content to whatever crazy amount you decide. Say they produce 5 [insert content]. Then you would be charged $1.25 at the end of the month and it would be given to them as a donation type thing. You receive the content regardless, so it is not exactly a subscription service. It is more like a hybrid between donations and subscription. This is a donation platform to enable you to directly give to content creators rather than having to go through other means such as simply watching their videos on Youtube. The idea is that you pledging money will make them more motivated and give them more time to create the content you want. You can cancel your pledge any time, so if you feel they are not creating what you want, you can do so. A friend of mine over at his website recently made it known to me and I thought it was pretty cool, so I wanted to share it with the forum. Thanks, Vitalius

What do you guys think about this? These guys are trying to start a new cloud storage service. The guys in the video seemed a little presumptious, stating that their gonna "change cloud storage forever". Who knows tho, it might be a good idea. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/clintgc/space-monkey-taking-the-cloud-out-of-the-datacente?ref=category
