Do you guys think it's a good idea to upgrade from an i5 3570k to a ryzen 5 2600? I would be pairing it with a GTX 1080 and I mostly game and do school work. Also, would the Asus Strix B450-F be a good motherboard for it? Thanks!

Can anyone suggest me a budget board that supports Intel I5 or I7 3rd gen processors which must have 4 ram slots so that I can utilize all 32GB of ram compatibility mentions by Intel. And with 6Gbps port + USB 3.0 will is also preferable. Im in India and I do find some but sellers are not ready to ship here. If you think I'm stupid please ignore ?

I have a Core-I5 3550@3.7Ghz (3.92Ghz Turbo), but according to most forums this is impossible as it is a non-K chip and my chipset technically doesn't support overclocking. But my MSI mobo on the H61 chipset has an overclocking tab and allows me to bump up the ratio(but not the voltage) on the cpu. Did people not know about this or was the wrong chipset put on this board? I'm really confused about this as no-one else has posted this scenario before (to my knowledge). P.S. Will post mobo model name, pics of bios, and pics of CPU-Z+AIDA64 once I get home. But for now you'll have to settle with the Intel product page.

I'd actually like to provide some quick context: My specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k @ 4.20 GHz (85°c full load, 41°c idle) GPU: EVGA GTX 780 6GB SC Edition Memory: 16GB 4x4GB 2400MHz DDR3 Mobo: MSI GD-65 z77a Gaming I have been running stock everything for around 5-6 years now. I purchased all these parts new, back when they first released. I have not touched my system, never OCed, never installed aftermarket fans or anything. Basically, I wanted to upgrade my PC via overlocking (even if it is a small difference, I was bored and curious primarily), so I decided to delid my CPU, purchase a water cooler (Corsair h100i v2), and scrape off that old crumbling TIM. And that's just what I did (AND MORE!), I installed a h100i v2, delidded by CPU, resealed it, installed new case fans (3 instake, 2 passthough, 3 exhaust + 240mm rad with double 120mm exhaust), used liquid metal on both my CPU die, and my h100i v2 (I know not to use it on aluminum), and I boot and find.... my temps are not that good... at all. I overclocked to 4.20 GHz, and I idle at 41C and 85C during AIDA64 stress. I have no idea what I could have done wrong. Any ideas? Some more info: I used RTV silicon sealant on my cpu to reseal the IHS. I left the IHS under pressure of a clamp provided by rockitcool for 17 hours to let it cure and dry. Here is the thermal compound I used on my CPU die and IHS to heatsink contact: see here Oh, and something I still plan on doing is getting some thermal paste (non metal) and reapplying on my GPU die... since it's probably all dried up and crumbled away by now... EDIT: I know, I know, you don't even really need more than 3 fans ever, but it looks cool. Also, it appears that my CPU runs at 4.2GHz non-stop? Is this normal?

Experiment: i have a ivy 3470 cpu and a asus p8p67 pro rev 3.1 what would happen if u but an ivy bridge into a lga1155 p67 chipset motherboard before you updated the BIOS to support ivy bridge so far there are no videos about this and a lack of forums who have the evidence too backup there claims. anyone who would be willing to find out would be contributing to the world -
As the title says I am looking for a nice but less expensive upgrade and I've already got an offer from a friend of mine. He has an unlocked i5 3rd gen and I am asking if it is worth upgrading to that from my actual 880k from AMD. I am also planning on going for the eight gen of CPUs but at the moment I do not have enough money and I will not have any until Q2 of 2018 year.

So the other day at my grandpa's house in the garage, I found an old, (not really, but still) CPU, an I5-3570K (Ivy Bridge). He said that as he had no use for it I can keep it. Should I use it in my PC build as CPUs cost a lot or build a newer Skylake (or even 10nm when they come out) one, even though the CPU will cost a lot. Also, feel I should mention this but, I'm planning on having this thing on a PC that should last for a while (8-10 years) for primarily School and Gaming purposes. Will it be able to last and be good for that much time? Thank you

I recently got two Sapphire HD6970 cards, but they're the blower style cards and they're loud af and they barely fit in my case anyways. I had an ATX motherboard laying around, new in box, because I bought it 3 or so years ago, not realizing my case only fit a micro-ATX. Having recently installed a Linksys WRT56G in the shed to get some internet there, I started planning to move the Folding rig to the shed. There it can be as loud as it has to be without bothering me. Mounting an ATX board to the wall: I used these little hammer-in M3 size nuts to get some mounting points: Mounting the Gigabyte Z77 board on the wall with the i7-3770 and RAM already installed: Using spacers behind the board to get the right distance from the wall, this is the result: Next up is the power supply, it gets a spot right underneath, little protection pads to avoid scratching the cover: Whatever gauge wire I had laying around to strap it in: Screwing some 120mm fans to the wall to get some airflow across the parts: An assortment of SSDs: Hooray, it is alive. Up next is mounting those heavy 6970s Ready for business. Tested and working correctly.

I've been wanting to overclock my 3570K for ages now, but I can't figure out how to do it in the BIOS for this motherboard. I can't seem to locate and set an explicit "Core Multiplier," and the closest thing I found doesn't do anything when I boot into Windows. I have a £120 budget for a short term CPU upgrade. I can buy a Z68 mobo to overclock for £30 if someone finds a unlocked CPU for £90. I was originally going to get a 3570k for £85 and a Z68 for £30 to overclock. What's the best CPU I can currently buy, used or new i dont care, that's 1155. I already have a 1155 H61M mobo. Hi There, I am looking at getting an intel 3770 either non k or s as an upgrade to my core 2 quad. They sell at really really amazing prices here and I can get the cpu, a good motherboard and ram for the same price as a 5th generation i7 chip here maybe even less. If this a good choice though or has the chips lived out their usefulness? I just wanna hear what everyones thoughts is on this decision. I havent gone ahead with the purchase and probably wont for another month.

I'm looking to update my motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Right now I have an i7 3770k in an Asrock Z77 Extreme6 motherboard with 2x 8GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance lp DDR3. Lately I've been starting to get intermittent problems that I can only explain as gremlins so I think it's time to move on. I'm not sure if I want to go with the 5820k or the 6700k since both processors are roughly the same price. My primary usage scenario would be gaming at 1440p/4k (depending on the title) and browsing the web on Chrome (ram hog I know) at the same time. I am also really getting into overclocking (not ln2 or anything, in the grand scheme of things it'd probably count as moderate). I've compiled a couple of possible upgrades on pcpartpicker, I didn't include a CPU cooler because I'm going to use my H100i until I can afford to build a custom waterloop. I was planning on doing a new PC build this year, starting with updating from Ivy Bridge (3770k) to Skylake (6700k). I'd then update my GPU setup in the summer when Nvidia Pascal comes out. I will be able to get the motherboard, CPU, and RAM for Skylake within a month. But, if what I've heard is true and the next series of Intel CPU's is coming out in June, should I wait until then, or would I be fine with Skylake? I am aware that I won't be seeing much of a performance improvement between my 3770k and a 6700k, I'm mostly interested in some of the updated features and a new setup in general. -
Hello Community! I am planning on building a pc with some older Chips/Mobos. I am looking for an i7-3770k or one of these two old xeons: the X5650 orthe E5640. I know the old xeons take a HUGE lot of wattage when overclocked but that doesnt matter... So now I need either a X58 single socket motherboard or a z77 one. But I don´t really know much about those older motherboards so I wanted you guys to maybe help me what motherboard I should choose and why. Most important for me are at least 1 PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (best is if it has 2) , USB 3.0 and gigabit lan. Maybe we could also start a small discussion about what you think is the best of those CPUs. I really apprechiate all of your help!

I'm looking for a used (new to me) laptop to buy off of ebay. I want a thin (under .9") and under 4 lbs. It needs at least a i5 prossesor and 4 gigs of RAM. Its battery needs to last over 5 hours. The prossessor needs to be either ivy bridge or haswell. Any suggestions for a model?

Hi guys. So my Asrock z77 extreme 4 motherboard died on me last Thursday and I can't find anyone selling z77 boards. The decision I made is to upgrade my rig to haswell or skylake. Is it better to upgrade to a 4690k or a 6600k, any thoughts?

Hi everyone. I've been wondering whether I should start overclocking my stock i7 3770k or upgrade to Intel's new Kaby Lake CPUs this year. I know games are more GPU dependent, but I've been worrying about the more CPU bound games to come in the future. This article from techreport.com shows a 29 fps increase from the 3770k to 6700k in Project Cars: http://techreport.com/review/28751/intel-core-i7-6700k-skylake-processor-reviewed/6 What do you guys suggest I do? P.S. If you suggest I overclock, what cooler do you recommend I get? I currently have an Arctic Freezer 13 CO cooler installed, but I'd still want to maintain lower temps when overclocking.

Hey folks, I'd like to upgrade my PC for several reasons but not sure if it's worth the pretty penny. I currently have a 3770K w/16GB RAM and I stream daily and want to get into making Youtube videos and such so I'll be using Premiere and After Effects etc. I'm finding some games running slow (not at 60fps) while attempting to stream at moderate settings (720p 30-60fps 2500kbps). I'm thinking it's probably the processor showing it's age? Another reason I'd like to upgrade is to be ready for VR and the HTC Vive since it looks like the minimum requirements are quite high. On the streaming scene it seems like the common processor is the 4790K and people seem to have less lag issues than me. I'm just ranting now. Any suggestions? Thanks, --Marc

I currently have a build that works decent for what I use it for but I really could use overall better performance and power. Especially with video editing which is one of my major duties at my work. After running some tests I know my bottleneck is my CPU since it's an older Intel Core i3-2105. The specs of my build are as follows Intel Core i3-2105 16GB G.Skill 1066MHz RAM 2TB Seagate Desktop SSHD 500GB Seagate Barracuda HDD Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB 500W PSU Antec P70 Case I'm wondering if someone could help me figure out the best quad core CPU that will give me good overall performance but also do well with heavy strains of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. That being said, I'm sure that my current CPU will bottleneck the GTX 970, so I'm going to save up now to buy a new CPU before Christmas. I was firstly thinking about upgrading my current processor to an i5 3570 (non 'K' version, because my MOBO doesn't allow OC of the CPU), or an i7 3770 (non 'K'). I wasn't sure which one to get, since the 3770 is £60 more expensive than the 3570 (in the UK). Note that both, the 3570 and the 3770 are 3rd generation Intel processors (code name: Ivy Bridge). But then I was told that I should upgrade my current motherboard so that I could have a Haswell processor, and that it would be cheaper to get too. So I started digging around the web, and found the i5 4690 and the i7 4790 (both non 'K'). The i7 4790 would only be superior to the 4690, when rendering videos, editing videos, and streaming (none of which I do much of). So I narrowed my search down to the 4690, but then I would need a new motherboard. This is what my question is. What motherboard should I get which will be not too expensive, and deliver good quality? (I'm looking to ideally spend no more than £40-£50 max.). But wait... Should I stay with my current MOBO, and simply buy the i5 3570, or should I upgrade my MOBO (to a cheap Haswell MOBO), and get the i5 4690, or should I upgrade my MOBO to a cheap Haswell MOBO (with overclocking for the CPU) and get the i5 4690k? Note: I was also told that I should also upgrade my PSU to a good, reliable one, but I think I'm going to refrain from that for now. Should I buy a new PSU too? I'm looking to cool a 3570K with a heavy overclock on it, would really like not to go with air cooling for various reasons (especially not a massive 140MM tower). Case is an NZXT S340. Not much info, but not much is necessary.

I currently have an i7 3770k with 16GB of DDR3 RAM and a cheap MSI motherboard (which doesn't support SLI). I currently have a 970 but I would like to upgrade to 970s in SLI but to do this I would need a new mobo. I have looked around for an LGA 1155 mobo but the only ones I can find are low end mini ATX. Is it worth the upgrade to an i7 6700k, with the Asus Maximus VIII Hero and some DDR4 RAM which will allow me to add another graphics card. Also, I could repurpose the old CPU and RAM for a family computer. Bear in mind I like in the UK so the pricing of parts is more expensive and they are less available.

I'm running an Intel i7 3770k 3.5GHz cooled by a Corsair H100i configured in push with Noctua NF-F12 fans. At 30%-40% load my temps range from 48C-58C. I've read that Ivy Bridge runs a little hot but Is these temps high? Thanks. Edit: I'm using Task Manager to view load and Speccy to see my temps.
