So, I made an iPhone backup a month ago on my PC through iTunes so I have the backup file, and from that I would like to pull my photos because I don't want to get another iPhone, there's plenty of tools BUT they only let you "read" and to export your photos they charge insane fees, anyone have any suggestions on how to pull my photos? ALSO: I don't have an iCloud backup because I had 10Gb+ photos and didn't want to pay for extra storage so I can't directly download them from iCloud.com

I have rented a movie on iTunes, and I would like to screen record a section of it for my own personal use (I want to practise my editing skills on it, as I think I could move the order of events that round). I have a few questions about this: 1. What is a screen recorder that can record itunes rented movie footage on windows 10? 2. Will apple know I am screen recording it? Does itunes have a function built in to see if it is being screen recorded? I ask this as I don't want them to think I am trying to record it to distribute it or something, as I am actually only using it to practise editing. I am worried if they find out they might suspend my account or something. P.S. I am in the UK if that matters.

Source: The Verge To those ten people who uses Windows 10S but would want Apple Music because they own an iPhone, rejoice! iTunes for the Windows Store is now available to download for free. It has the same user experience and interface as iTunes from Apple.com but instead of updating itself using Apple Software Update, it will automatically update using the Store app. Unfortunately, iCloud will remain outside of the Windows Store so to those who would want to sync their iCloud contents to their Windows 10S devices, you're out of luck. After launching the app right after installation, iTunes will prompt that it will uninstall old iTunes to be replaced by the new one. Just say yes to the UAC prompt and it will take a few minutes to migrate your sign in info from the old iTunes install to the new one. No mention just yet if Apple will start selling lossless FLAC files. To audophiles out there, which would sound better? The 320 kbps OGG Vorbis format of Spotify or the 256 kbps AAC that iTunes/Apple Music uses? Would the extra 64 kilobits would actually matter when it comes to audio quality given they're both lossy compression. When it comes to features, I think Apple Music wins hands down with their Beats1 radio which is way better than Spotify's radio discovery. Also, Apple Music will display lyrics of the current song playing. You don't have that with Spotify. Also, Apple Music has music videos. Spotify doesn't have that. But if there's one thing Spotify does better than Apple Music/iTunes is UI navigation. In mobile, Spotify is way easier to use and searching for a song would require less taps and scrolls unlike in Apple Music. While both services are cross platform for PC, Mac, iOS and Android, Spotify wins when it comes to playing nice with other platforms other than Apple. Spotify works not only with an Apple TV but also with a Chromecast, NVIDIA Shield, and even on a PS4. Also, the Android version of Apple Music is rated not so good compared to Spotify. And, Spotify has an ad subsidized option, Apple Music only has three months of free trial. While Apple Music has an Android app, it will suck to those who has signed up for a subscription but never owned an iOS device. In order to use Apple Music on an Android phone, you should sign up using either a Mac or an iPhone/iPad and that's the time Apple Music will work on Android. But if there are things Apple Music does better than Spotify is that Apple Music has way more songs, they pay higher royalties to record labels (might not be the case now since Taylor Swift is back on Spotify), and works with Siri.

So i take it iTunes has shut down use in bigscreen because of those people that like to share?

So why is a iTunes tv episode only like 1.8GB but when I rip the episode off a blu-ray in the same 1080p its like 10GB? Does iTunes compress their videos or something? If they do is iTunes 1080p any better than a DVD??? Or does it meet blu-ray quality? Thanks in advance.

According to the article here: https://torrentfreak.com/thor-ragnarok-furiously-pirated-after-itunes-pre-order-blunder-180122/ Thor Ragnarok was released for download to early. After just 10 hours the DRM was cracked and now everyone who wants to see this movie as 1 option. Pirate it. The movie was planned to be released on February 17th. First of all: I don't recommend pirating anything! A quote from the article: But I think this will bring an interesting situation and I wonder what Disney will do in response. If they will keep to the original release schedule it means everyone who really wants to see this movie NOW has only 1 option. It isn't in the cinema anymore and there is no legal way to watch the movie. This again leads into the debate that often the legal ways of watching the movie are so much more troublesome then the illegal ways that it's not weird people pirate these movies. Personally, I hope Disney will respond by releasing the movie for legal download earlier (as soon as possible) so people who do want to see it legally have at least a choice now, but I don't expect this to happen. What I do expect is we will be seeing a lot of lawsuit threats over this which only means even more media attention and therefore even more people aware of the fact you can already download this movie. How do you guys think they should handle this?

Hello, I use iTunes as the main music player on my MBP. Lately I noticed that not all tracks from a particular album are displayed. The tracks that are "missing" still play fine (when i click to listen to an album it plays all the tracks on the album. I just can't see the bottom tracks.) I don't know if this is relevant but my iTunes library is located on external storage. For example: the image below is what i see in iTunes. As you can see the album appears to have 11 tracks. It has 18 tracks however. (the issue is not limited to this album in particular. A lot of albums in my library seem to be like this) How can I solve the issue?

I have been looking around for a remote control software that allows full access to itunes not just what is shared in itunes from my library or access to just the media controls. What I am trying to do is set up itunes/apple music on my server box and allow anyone that has access to it on my network to be able to do what they want from creating playlists, changing tracks, searching apple music. The idea is to use vban on voicemeeter to stream it to various devices on my network essentially to create a whole home audio jukebox that users can alter. I already have vban and itunes going on my machine but that means if someone wants to do anything to the playlist they need to get on my machine which I don't want them to do. The only thing I can think about doing is maybe setting up a VM on my box installing itunes and voicemeeter on that then using vnc or something to take control of the machine. I really don't want to run a VM just to do this just to save on system resources. Does anyone have any other solutions that may work? Update: I ended up going the VM route as I couldn't find anything that allowed search in itunes. Everything I was able to find with search was for spotify or google music and since I already pay for Apple Music Family I didn't want to have to pay for another service just to do this. I set up Hyper-V on my Server2008 box using Win8.1 as a guest. Installed Voicemeeter Banana, VB-Audio Virtual Cable, iTunes, Teamviewer Host. VB-Audio Virtual Cable is acting as the speaker out for Voicemeeter as the VM doesn't have any audio devices. Teamviewer is set to accept incoming lan connections exclusively. Teamviewer portable is being served from my NAS with all the configurations set just to simplify it for everyone, all they need to do is open it connect and type the password to gain access to the "Jukebox" machine. Voicemeeter Setup Set Voicemeeter Input as your Default Audio Device Set A1 Hardware Out to the virtual audio cable. I had best results using KS: VB-Audio Point Enable VBAN turn on the first outgoing stream, Source: BUSA1, set a stream name, Set ip to 192.168.1.255(this will depend on your network but setting the last digit to 255 will allow anyone to pick up the stream), Sample Rate: 4100Hz(This is the default sample rate of the virtual audio cable) To Recive audio on your machine use voicemeeter banana or VBAN-Receptor In Voicemeeter banana open VBAN, Enable VBAN, set an incoming stream to on, Stream name should be the same as you entered on the VM(case sensitive), Enter ip of the sending machine, and set the destination to Virtual in #1 or #2 I have not used VBAN-Receptor on my PC yet but have on my phone, all you need to do is set the stream name and the ip.

Now, before all your Apple haters stone me, please let me explain my situation. My Sister and Mother both have iPhones (I told them to get Android phones but they didn't listen). Apple is stupid. When you backup your phone through iTunes you can't download the backup. I would like to put both of the phones backups on our Synology DS415+ NAS. Is this possible? Or do I have to locate the files in my AppData folder, transfer them over to the NAS and then every time I need to restore I have to pull the file off of the NAS and put it back in the computers AppData so that iTunes sees it? If it was up to me, I would blow up both phones and by them Android phones. But since they are my family, I am sort of obligated to help them. If someone has a solution for this, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys, I'm currently running iTunes with home sharing enabled on my server(server2008r2) to stream music to my other computer(win10) in the household. The problem is that on my main pc, my itunes keeps dropping the connection when connecting to my server's itunes. I've already tried the following: 1) Reinstall itunes on both server and my main pc. 2) Revert back to an older version of itunes for both pc. 3) Uninstall, ccleaner, remove any firewall settings related to apple, restart, install fresh downloaded itunes. 4) Use wifi and wired connection. Odd thing is that my home theatre pc do not have this problem.I'm running almost identical setup on both software wise. Only thing I can think of is to format my main pc which i prefer not to if possible. Any ideas? If you need any additional info please ask and I'll try my best to provide it. Thanks in advance!

With my itunes and steam library nearing a Terabyte each, I am finding the need to move it off my main computer with its little USB3 WD Passport backup drive onto a NAS configured with backup. My goals are to: 1. Provide a network backup location for each of my devices. 2. If possible to have a single itunes library location I could access with each of my iTunes authorized devices. My hope is that when I am downstairs I won't need to run up to my main computer to launch itunes in order to watch apple tv down stairs. Instead I could just launch itunes from my tablet, laptop, ect and stream through homeshare. 3. If possible to have a single steam/origin/battlenet/game library location for all my PC devices. The systems I game on are my main 2 computers and my hope is that with the RAID 10 + SSD Cache and the 10GBE connection, the performance hit would be minimal. Plus I wouldn't have duplicated data across multiple computers. 4. Provide remote access to all my documents , pictures , ect 5. Provide data redundancy and backup for all of the above. This is how I envisioned my network when I was done: Now for the questions: 1. As far as I can tell, iSCSI isn't intended for multiple computers being able to access a single LUM. Most of the itunes/game libary solutions I have seen use iSCSI/LUM to do it. Is there any way to make this work? Or am I limited to created different LUMs for each device and duplicating the same data over and over again? 2. Any advice on the setup of my NAS? The breakdown of drive setup is just from what I have gathered from my own research. The primary array is 4x4TB WD Red 5400 RPM drives in a RAID 10 which is then syncronized daily to a 8TB WD Red drive. I was planning to add 2xSamsung 850 Pro SSDs for cache as I heard it makes a big difference for gaming off a NAS. 3. Any advice to optimize my network as given in the above diagram? Again, this is just what I have gathered from my own research.

Recently I've been having trouble copying over some new music onto my ipod touch. My iTunes version is 12.4.3.1 and my iPod's firmware is 9.3.3, both the latest versions available. My issue is that the last 3 albums I've tried to copy over to the iPod have failed to do so. The syncing arrows show up on the iPod showing that some sort of syncing is going on, and iTunes itself shows the 'preparing to update iPod' and the blue progress bar moves along and eventually disappears. It does appear to hang a bit but 'completes nonetheless. But when I check on the iPod itself, the albums do not show up under the artist it should. Viewing what is on the iPod when it is connected to iTunes shows that the albums are "there", but they are greyed out and have circles beside the songs. On top of this issue, iTunes has somehow managed to delete every single album cover artwork which is just mind boggling on its own. Is my only option to wipe the iPod and copy back my entire music collection??? Hope you can help. Thanks Edit: Running Windows 10 64bit

When I click on "Music" iTunes gives me the option to look at these two people's libraries...I'm on my school network, but I have sharing disabled. Any ideas? I have never met these two people before but have blurred out their names for privacy reasons.

Source: http://9to5mac.com/2016/05/17/two-apple-engineers-traveled-to-a-customers-house-to-troubleshoot-itunes-deletion-bug/ Last week, a blog post from James Pinkstone in which he described how iTunes Match deleted 122GB of his personal music collection went viral.Apple confirmed the issue on Friday and rolled out apotential fix with iTunes 12.4 yesterday, but Pinkstone today has shared a new blog post detailing the extreme lengths to which Apple went in order to track down what exactly caused the problem in the first place. Great, good on Apple for making sure what actually happened as it seemed like a very uncommon but disastrous (atleast for some) problem. Say what you will about Apple, but I will have a hard time believing that other companies would've sent two engineers across the country to fix this issue

Hi folks. Question for you guys. Between my tv shows, movies, music, and apps, my iTunes folder is about 150gb in size. If I use the compression option in the file explorer on my PC, will there be a loss in quality in my files? I know there is usually a loss in fidelity when you compress audio and video files. But going this route, does the same loss in quality apply?

So I got The Force Awakens on iTunes on my laptop. --I know iTunes is bad --I wanted HD instead of SD, otherwise I would have bought an actual DVD --I don't know if the Google Play store lets me buy a movie and download it locally bla bla bla so I chose iTunes I tried to play it in HD, but it said this: "To play this movie in HD, you must have a PC with a built-in display or have it connected to a display that supports HDCP." It plays in Standard Definition just fine. My laptop is a Dell XPS13 9333 -Core i7 4650U with Intel HD5000 I am using a MiniDisplayport to HDMI adapter that is HDCP compliant. My TV is a Samsung Series 6 UA32F6400AM. *Supposedly all HDMI TVs support HDCP *The user manual for this TV does not mention HDCP anywhere *The settings of the TV do not mention HDCP It seems like something in the hardware chain is not supporting HDCP. WHAT THE HELL IS IT? IS IT THE DAMN TV? I checked all this stuff out BEFORE I bought the movie - I was sure the HDCP would be fine. pls help

I have a massive issue with iTunes and I don't know how to stop this. For some reason every time I sync my Iphone to my iTunes it keeps duplicating the same images. How do I stop this from happening as it begins to eat up my storage space. I also think I might have the same issue with Dropbox when it syncs but I need to check on that again. So any Apple people out there?

Hello everyone, I have a weird set of problems. It involves iTunes, my iPhone, and my computer (and Windows). Recently, I reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC. I had all my important stuff backed up, and there were no issues... Except with iTunes. iTunes reinstalled fine, but I had a bit of difficulty getting it to recognize my large(ish) music library, located on my E:\ drive. I managed to copy all of my media back, however, now I am starting to see small issues. First Issue: When I sync my computer with my iPhone, the changes I made to music, apps, etc. don't change on my computer. Examples of this are stuff like, when I "love" a song in the Music app, or give it a rating, the next time I sync with my computer, it takes what I did on my phone and replaces it with the stuff on my computer. What it should do is merge the changes I have made since the last sync, like if I "love" Song1 on my computer, and "love" Song2 on my phone, then both should be "love"d on both devices when I sync. I would like to point out that it seems to be only the songs that I purchased from iTunes that have this issue, and stuff that I get online (such as game and anime soundtracks and stuff you can't actually purchase anywhere in my area, etc.), but it seems kinda fiddly. Second Issue: Sometimes, when I add new music to my iTunes library via clicking and dragging MP3 files, it doesn't sync to my phone on the first try. Alright, so I thought it was my phone's fault, as in it didn't recognize my iTunes on my computer since the reinstall. So, I restored my phone from a backup, but still the little irritating issues persist. This is really annoying. Extra details that would probably help someone: Windows 7 Home Premium was what was freshly installed, fully up-to-date. Both iTunes and iOS are the newest release. iTunes is installed in my C:\ drive, but my iTunes media folder is on my E:\ drive. I have about 2000~ songs that I have downloaded, not from iTunes. Thanks for your help!

Hey guys, I've got a TON of FLAC files that need to be converted to ALAC. They are for my girlfriend to use on her Macbook Air, and subsequently, on her iPhone 5s. She uses iTunes, which doesn't reliably support FLAC (Apparently there used to be hacks to get iTunes to import them). What I need, is a Windows based program, that is free, that can batch convert a bunch of FLAC files into ALAC. I searched online, and the best recommendation is always DBPowerAmp, but this program no longer seems to have a free version (Please correct me if wrong and post link!). I found a few others, such as FLAC to Apple Lossless Converter: http://www.any-audio-converter.com/flac-to-apple-lossless-converter.php But I have no idea how good this program is, or if there are other - better - free alternatives. Please help a brother out!

I got an iPad Pro and I had to download an app that had on an older iTunes account. When I switched back to my other account to download my iBooks for school they said I had to wait 90 days to download! Is there a way to work around this because I need these books for school!

Importing iTunes and WMP playlists to MusicBee issues.
EdwardERS posted a topic in Operating Systems
More details here : https://www.reddit.com/r/musicbee/comments/3xq1my/after_importing_playlists_from_wmp_the_source/ In short, after I import the playlists it looks like MusicBee can't find the locations for the music. I can manually search for each individual song after clicking on it, but it's a long and tedious process especially because the search window opens on the C drive no where near where my music folder is on another lettered hdd. I would think this player would scan for the matching music files to the playlist, maybe it does, but I'm confused about what directory setting I need to alter. I swear I've added all my desired music files into the library through the "Scan Folders For New Files" option, but it's not helping with the playlist tracks getting un-greyed out. I actually uninstalled MusicBee, then reinstalled it. Somewhere in the start up process I clicked on some options and I got it to work for the iTunes playlists. The WMP ones are still broken. I'm using the 2.5.5804, so I'm wondering if because Windows Media player hasn't been updated in so long for Win 7 that the .wpl format isn't supported by this program anymore or if this release is broken. Seems to work okay with making playlists, but importing outside ones are sketchy.- 1 reply
