so, I decided to play the battlefield 5 beta today. And after half an out i gave up and uninstalled it. i dont know what it is but the game just did not feel right the movement the aiming just felt wrong. I had the same problem with Battlefield 1. I compare the last battlefield game that i played the shit out of was 4 which i would say i was good at. But anyway back to the discussion at hand. normally with most games they click after about 10 mins and i find i can hold my own but this despite not doing badly the game felt wrong. So chronologically DICE after releasing bf4 released battlefront 1 and after that came battlefront 2. what i wonder is that they changed something about the design of the engine or (im not a game designer) just something has changed but there is no rhyme or reason to it, it just feels not like i would say a battlefield game plays like.I had the same with COD ghosts that the game felt off and i stopped playing it really quickly when i felt it was not how i wanted it to feel as an example. what did you think? do you feel the same?

Hello everyone! I've found Samsung U28E590D monitor for 180€. The seller said he's always on the move and apparently for the year that he had it, he didn't used so much. Should I go for it, is it a good monitor for video editing? Thank you!

Hi. I have a question about host bus adapter. What types of code run on these cards?
-
I have been looking for such on the Internet but most of them are from Win XP era and ask dumb stuff like what do you click to minimize a window. Is there an advanced test with algorithm that sees you are good at something and gives you more questions of it. ex: This guy is good at networking and windows but bad at Linux and coding, I will give him more networking and windows questions. Then it evaluates your knowledge in categories and tells you how good you are compared to other people that took the test. To think of it that is too far fetched. I doubt such thing exist...

I work in the IT department for a company and we are starting to roll out windows 10 computers out to kiosk. The kiosk out there are currently running windows 7 with a lock down system so they can only do limited things, like they cant change settings, move icons, pretty much tamper with the computer. We currently have Security Administrator 14 which works well for windows 7 and lower but doesn't work well with windows 10. Security Administrator: http://www.softheap.com/secagent.html Was wondering if anyone had suggestions on lock down software for kiosk or other computers within a company to prevent changes unless you have a password or administration from IT.

Canada's latest attempt at a unified Payroll system has imploded. It's sad to see IT projects fall apart. Either through budget problems, feature creep or lack of knowledge and understanding. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/05/29/canada_phoenix_payroll_system_audit/ So a massive extra cost just to rip it out and start again. I know it's a bit of old news, as this is just a confirmation that it failed by the auditors at this point. But it got me wondering about things like how tiny little companies can get it right or wrong, in comparison to national or global companies getting it right or wrong. I guess scale makes a massive difference. So the advice to LTTs and their "IT" systems? Keep it simple, because the bigger it is, the more you can drop! [edit] I just realised... this one needs to rise from the ashes!

Hi, I'm looking for a laptop under $800. I will be using it as my daily driver and for my study in IT as well. I like to play dota2, csgo, pubg, fortnite and maybe some other triple A titles. I've looked into acer e5 476g and I think it's too thick imo. Can you guys recommend thinner laptops or should I buy y520 instead? Or should I wait till the kaby lake g series laptop, because I want to use it for around 3 to 4 years. Please help me out, thanks.

Hello everyone. I just recently started an apprenticeship at an IT support company and a huge part of the work they do goes down in the active directory. Now I got this position for my knowledge of hardware and troubleshooting but the active directory is completely new to me. So here is my question, does anyone here know a place on the internet that has a guide or an intro to the active directory that is not painstakingly drawn out and text-based. I learn through practice and by doing so a guide that has me try and do stuff while learning to understand would be amazing. All I've been able to find so far are definition guides that tell me what something does but they don't teach how everything interacts and what works with what in practice. So please help. Thank you Robert

Hi all, I want to share something with you all and hear what you think. I started my first IT job at a small firm in a small town, about 6 years ago. Worked there for just under 2 years doing tech support (mostly) and the odd computer setup, router setup and network cable installation. It was just me and the senior guy, doing work for the general public, but mostly on maintaining the internal IT infrastructure. I then moved on to another company, they did tech support and installations and retail for the general public. I only worked there for just under a year, mostly due to conflict of some sorts. I then decided to open my own company, doing support, installations and retail in the same small town. The first company I worked for stopped doing work for the public and focused on doing only their internal infrastructure and maintaining it, so I scored quite a few clients off that. I did this for 4 years and I enjoyed it. The freedom of doing your own thing is unlike anything I've had before. I made a living, but didn't grow much. I had a lot of time to "play" with things, I learned FreeNAS, pfSense, Ubuntu, all the things I wanted to learn, I could. And then, when I "mastered" these things, I could sell them to my clients as solutions. I never got any certifications, degrees or diplomas in my field, all I had was experience. As much as one could get by playing with different things. At the end of 2017 I got a job offer from quite a massive company to be an IT Technician (Junior, for now, hopefully) at one of their branches in a near city. They didn't offer as much money as I was making on my own, but they did offer benefits, such as medical aid, a pension fund, and so on. They also wanted me to get my CompTIA A+ in 1 month, and so I did, and I took the offer, we moved. I did this mostly out of the view point of having the security of a salary and for the benefits (medical aid) for me and my wife's future. I've been here basically a month now. My problem though, is that I don't feel like I'm learning anything here (yet, hopefully). I am not allowed to fix the important things like the routers, firewalls, etc. Those problems are for the SysAdmins, Network Admins, etc. My job, mostly, is remote logging into users' machines and fixing whatever issues they may have. My goal is to be a network admin for this company. Their infrastructure seems so cool, and it looks like I can learn quite a lot here. How fast do you think I can climb this ladder? I am 26 right now, turning 27 this year. I only have my CompTIA A+ right now. Which diplomas/certificates would you suggest? I don't know if anything Cisco would apply here, they seem to use Mikrotik and Ubiquiti for most of the networking equipment. Thanks

I am a new Information Security Tech and I am looking for a more secure operating system and have turned toward Linux. I looked at arch but I am not as comfortable with code as I would like to be. So my question is, has anyone used the Parrot OS and would it be a good operating system to use at home as a daily driver? I would also be using it to better familiarize myself with the tools of my trade. One last question, If you do not like Parrot, can you suggest a security OS that minimizes coding? Thanks in advance for the info.

Hi all, just looking for some advice and experience on this. I'm heading to University next year to study Business and IT, and will need a new device for it. I'm a Windows man, so I'd only considered those devices. Through my current job I can get a Lenovo X390 13,3", i5, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD with 4 yr warranty, 3 yr ADP. I can get this for $600-800 AUD cheaper than same config on Lenovo website. This laptop would be well suited for what I need. However one of my colleagues mentioned that if they were buying a laptop, they would get a MacBook and just run Parallels on it, the Virtual Machine software. I can see a number of benefits with this: (Arguably) better build quality of a MacBook, The versatility of having access to both MacOS and Windows at the same time, which for IT; programming, developing, testing; could be very useful. Me personally learning MacOS Better resale value at End of Life (unsure on the difference) The only barrier to this is of course the price of MacBooks. A similar spec MacBook Pro to the Lenovo could cost me $600+ more, and I'm unsure if the benefits justify that amount. Hopefully some people in a similar situation or setup could provide their opinion, or any other alternative ideas people have. Thanks

Hi everyone, Maybe i should introduce myself : I'm a French Student studying in the University of Rouen, in Normandie (France of course) more particullary in the Networking and Telecommunications departement. I'm 20 and really passionate by new technologies and want to continue my studies in network security (in a first time), and i'm currenlty writing this because i think you could help me : To validate my degree, i have to do a 12 weeks training course in a company which is relied with networking (or at least computing) but to have a better résumé and mostly a better experience, i want to do this training course in Canada (Or US). It could help me to improve my english and see how company works in another country. But i don't know which company could accept internship, i'm currently searching, and this is why i'm here. This community seems good (the few posts i've made have received goods answers with pleasant people) i wanted to know if some people could tell me some names i should check, or any other information that could help me ! To make my Visa in a good lapse of time, i've to find a company before december. Thanks for help Sincerely, Blanchard Maxime PS : Please note i have added some links (unfortunately in French) of my University's Website, and the educationnal program of my degree. If you need further information, i'm available at any time. Email : maxime.blanchard@etu.univ-rouen.fr

Original Source: Barnacules Twitter: The title says it all to be honest. Microsoft's Director of Sales - Eric Ligman, has just green-lit (not Steam) the permission to make over 240 e-books available for Free, and for anyone to download. Some of them might not be an enjoyable read, but there is some interesting books in here for IT professionals such as a book on: "A Deployment guide for Power BI in CSP" (CSP being "Cloud Service Provider") Personal thought - I wouldn't have thought books like this would be available to the average person. Either way, if they may not be useful to you, they are completely free and to quote the person who posted the links; "Knowledge is Power". I'm currently in the process of going through them myself to see what is on offer. All the links are listed in the Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/uePSydH2 Anyway, My thoughts are, this is awesome. Some of them maybe pointless to me, but you can't really argue with free stuff. Your Thoughts? please leave them down below! EDIT: As @Julian5 Just mentioned, you can't see what books they are, with is a downside. If you want them, time to fish through over 480 links - some of which are just online versions. EDIT No 2: Just found an official Microsoft Website offing downloads with titles, but I'm not sure if all the books in the Pastebin are there. Feel free to check them out! https://mva.microsoft.com/ebooks EDIT: UPDATE 3: I can confirm that the books in the link in Edit #2, are available in the Pastebin, for example, "The fundamentals of Azure" is available through the pastebin and the Microsoft eBooks site

I was wondering if RAID 0 was worth the risk for the performance. I was planning on buying two Intel 535 series 120gb ssd's and running them in RAID 0 for my boot drive. Is it worth it? Or should I just stick with one ssd?

I suddenly started having trouble loading both windows and Linux operating systems on my computer, even after swapping out hard drives. The computer will post and I am able to navigate the motherboard bios just fine, but when I try to load an operating system it fails to get past initial boot screen. I have an ASRock FM2A88X Extreme6+ motherboard. I have re-flashed the bios twice, and reinstalled the operating systems on different hard drives several times and still no difference. Please help, any information is appreciated.
