I want to use raytracing for where possible, and for this pc to last me at least 5 or 6 years. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am going to upgrade from a HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs1xxx, and I want to buy the price-fluctuating components for my birthday in october, and the rest of the components in november or in december so that it can be assembled at christmas. The parts I may use: CPU: Intel I7-13700k 3.4GHz 16cores CPU Cooler: NZXT Z73 RGB 360mm 2nd-hand (they're not available in the UK to my knowledge) Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI (For future support and good features?) Please help me if what I am selecting is optimal and is compatible, I have been using a HP laptop from 2018 with a gtx1050. Can you also please advise what 4k monitor I should buy for the purposes I have listed, preferably above 60Hz, like a 100Hz or 144Hz? I want to replace the non-rgb included rear fan in the case, with an rgb, should I stick to the same type as the front included ones or get a better one, because I want to put my radiator on the top of the case. Thank you so much for reading this and helping.0

The Problem Been having this problem for a while, and it varies, which is incredibly annoying. File explorer, when freezing/crashing, can not be restarted with Task Manager. Whenever I right click on the task and click restart, file explorer closes and does not re open. I am unable to re open the program using run, nor am I able to use windows+e, or command prompt, or powershell. The only way I can get File Explorer to re-open is either by restarting my machine, or logging out of and back into my account. The cause of the crash varies; oftentimes, however, it's things like: Right clicking on files, internal drives & network drives Creating new files Renaming files (This doesn't happen every time I try and perform these operations) I also have to restart File Explorer every time I boot my computer up. My taskbar doesn't populate until I've unlocked all my drives (which are encrypted with Bitlocker). Often enough, Task Manager doesn't relaunch File Explorer. Steps I've Taken Ran SFC /Scannow multiple times. Fixed corruptions the first time, found no more on repeated attempts. Ran DISM (CleanupImage, ScanHealth, RestoreHealth) Re installed Windows. (This was a while ago now, however the problem existed before and still exists after the re install) Ran multiple virus & malware scans, all clean. Would appreciate some help, if anyone's able to.

I've got a p106/igpu setup and i know nvidia card enabled or not, i can't go over 60 hz on windows or linux. My monitor is supposedly able to support 4k and 120hz... but i just wanna try high refresh 1080p. Ive seen people with uhd 630 graphics get over 60 at 1080p, so i know its possible. Is there something im doing wrong? Z390 motherboard and generic hdmi cable.

hey guys I'm going to study Architectural Technology soon and require a Laptop to use the school I'm going to attend has a laptop they recommend but I have found that they severely overpriced it The laptop they recommend is a Dell G15 5511. I5 11400H, 32 GB Ram, Nvidia RTX3050ti w/4GB GDDR6 so I'd just like to know if anyone has any better recommendation (with a $1400 budget) I will also be using it to play some games (not as important) Thank you so much

Hello all, i have two dell OptiPlex's (a 7010 with 3rd gen i7 and a 790 with 2nd gen i5). I am looking to upgrade their CPUs, but want some opinions first. This is to my knowledge all the cpus that will work in these machines: LGA 1155 cpu list – all processors Intel: Xeon, Core I7,Core I5, Core I3, Pentium, Celeron – FCLGA1155 socket (specifications) – CPU-LIST.COM The 7010 is being used as a server (for Virtual Machines and data ingest from Hard Drives and the like to images on a separate NAS) The 790 is being used for small games, content creation, etc. (will have rx550 i think eventually ) I've never used Xeon so if anyone has experience, please let me know how they perform and how they compare to intel core CPUs. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Summary Intel nuked the NUC. (More seriously: Intel will stop making NUC products and hopes its partners will step up to take over the mini-PC space.) Quotes My thoughts It's a shame given they were doing a pretty good job at it. Hope more manufacturers join the mini-PC space going forward. Building a new PC, with a 13900k, and probably gonna go with 64gb of 6400 DDR5 (not just for gaming this is why). And while trying to find a motherboard, I can't really find a reason why I would go higher than a MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK if I don't plan to OC. Is there something I'm missing here? Thank you

Hello friends, I think I'm a little late.. even so, I have a very important query for me. Since I have a z370 mother that a pin came out, and it is a VCC voltage pin, more specifically, (and thanks to this post) I discovered that it is number 26 of the AJ row. Ok, this pin was in contact with the 25th pin (another VCC pin), and the PC went into a reboot loop. My query is if the mother can work without one of these pins, since it has another 4 more online supplying this voltage... and if the contact between two VCC pins can cause a problem in some sector of the motherboard, or in the processor? is that I do not want to ruin either of the two things.. I hope I have not arrived so late that no one has been left, and I sincerely hope that someone can help me with this matter, since I see that there are many people with good technical knowledge on these issues. Below I attach some images of what happened to me

Hi all- I am planning on making a NAS for my home. I have most of the parts already laying around that I want to use. These are the current parts I already have: CPU: Intel Core i5-9600 3.1 GHz 6-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i 33.84 CFM CPU Cooler Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Storage: Crucial MX500 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Crucial MX500 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Red Plus 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Western Digital Red Plus 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Western Digital Red Plus 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Western Digital Red Plus 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Western Digital Red Plus 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Western Digital Red Plus 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive Operating System: TrueNAS Scale The parts I still need to pick out are a power supply, a motherboard, a rack-mount case (either 3 or 4u), and an HBA that is compatible with TrueNAS. Does anyone have any recommendations for these parts?

So, I ordered a 13700K last week, as well as the rest of the parts to upgrade my PC. It was expected on Saturday, but got delayed. I didn't think much of it. Come Tuesday, there was still no update, so I got in a bit of a argument with Amazon and they said that the CPUs from that batched failed quality assurance? They said to wait a little while longer. And promised it would arrive Wednesday. Come Wednesday afternoon, still no update, no tracking, they just listed it as delayed on Saturday... So I had them order a new one, and I MIGHT still get the first one eventually. But this new one has still yet to ship or update tracking.... Any ideas on what's going on? Any insights from a insider maybe? Update: I am currently speaking with Amazon again, as the 2nd CPU.is not going to be delivered on time either, and I have currently not received any reimbursement that they were speaking of. I'm trying to get to the bottom of why these CPUs are not shipping, I even emailed Intel with the details to see if they could provide any insight.

Budget (including currency): 350-400 USD Country: México Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Premiere Pro, 4k Editing and Halo Infinite Other details My build so far: i7 13700K, Gigabyte 850W Gold PSU, 16GB DDR4, Noctua Noctua NH-D15 for cooling. I want to buy a new GPU, currently I'm using a 1660 TI from work but I have to disconnect it from the office pc to take home and its becoming tedious. I want one that doesnt make a bottleneck with my cpu, but I cant afford a highend gpu just yet. Im torn between AMD and Nvidia. I've seen the reviews from the 4060 series and they dont look good. I've always used Nvidia and I don´t know how AMD works with the Adobe Suite. I'm looking to buy a 6700XT of save a little bit more to buy a 4070. Any advice here? (Can´t buy an used one cause customs always take my ebay stuff and in facebook marketplace they sell a 1660 like a 3060TI) 6700XT - 415.40 USD

I've decided to experiment with Intel Arc for dedicated recording! I bought a Ryzen 9 7900x with terrible onboard encoder with the intent of buying an Arc A380 for dedicated recording. My main GPU is an RTX 2080 Ti. I just installed my A380 and I'm surprised that the only option in OBS that uses it is Quicksync H.264 How can I use Quicksync AV1? Or at least HEVC?

Budget (including currency): $800 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 5, Game Development, and 3d Modeling (not super important). Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I just need a parts list that follow this, I am hoping to run these things smoothly without choppy/laggy experiences. As well, I need at least 16gb of RAM. EDIT: I don’t really want anything RGB

These are the options for Ivy Bridge CPUs that I found: Intel Core i5-3570 (VT-d, but locked multiplier, no Hyper-Threading) Intel Core i5-3570K (unlocked multiplier, but no VT-d, no Hyper-Threading) Intel Core i7-3770 (VT-d, but locked multiplier, Hyper-Threading) Intel Core i7-3770K (unlocked multiplier, but no VT-d, Hyper-Threading) Intel Core i7-4820K (unlocked multiplier, VT-d, Hyper-Threading, misleading name) Intel Core i7 Extreme-4960X (Extreme Edition, unlocked multiplier, VT-d, 6 cores, Hyper-Threading, misleading name) I want to have both VT-d and an unlocked multiplier, but Intel makes you have to get on to the more expensive LGA 2011 platform to do that. Should I sacrafice VT-d or the unlocked multiplier, or should I just not compromise anything for my next build? As for if I will have Hyper-Threading, that'll depend on the first factor before I decide.

Basically, this is an attempt to look at the major releases of Windows and determine the exact right hardware that each version of Windows will run the very best on. Some versions of Windows may technically support more powerful hardware, but you shouldn't need the most powerful hardware possible (except in certain cases). This is hardware that can support everything that runs on a particular version of Windows well enough for the vast majority of Windows enthusiasts. Also, this won't cover every Windows version, I will get to other notable versions after going over the main 9/10 versions of Windows. So I will first start with these 8 versions: Windows 1.0 (MS-DOS 3.2) Windows 2.0 (MS-DOS 3.3) Windows 3.0 (MS-DOS 5.0) Windows 95 Windows 2000 Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 Because of the fact that some versions of Windows run equally as well as previous versions, there are only really going to be 5 computers (at first). Also, because having a bunch of computers takes up too much space, the first three versions of Windows will be done with 86box. 86box is able to emulate various IBM PCs from 1981 all the way to an Intel Pentium II/AMD K6-2 running at 266 MHz. Anything faster than that cannot be accomplished by any emulator or hypervisor software. VMware actually can run Windows 2000 acceptably, but we are still looking for something better than acceptable, so that is why I created this thread.

Hey guys so I recently build a new pc and I finally finished it. Now I noticed fps drops on 1440p max settings in diablo4 when teleporting in the cities. this is my hardware: gpu: rtx 3080 CPU: i7 13700kf mainboard: MSI MAG B760 (ddr5) ram: 2x 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5600 DIMM CL36 Dual Kit (SKU: CMK32GX5M2B5600C36) so using 4x 16GB modules first I had some issues with the ram, my bad since I didn’t check the qualified vendor list, but I’m getting Kingston ram now which should work better. So currently I’m using 2x 16gbs since the full 4 sticks were unstable with the xmp profile enabled. i read about the heat issues with the i7. I’m using a noctua nhdh15. The cpu goes into thermal throttle sometimes and reaches 100 peak but goes back under 90 Celsius pretty fast. I think this is my fps drop issue though.so I read about undervolting and tried the cpu lite modes but immediately saw a decrease in cinebench score. Next I found out about the undervolting protection and that I can disable it in the microcode selection „no uvp“. But the cpu lite load still affects my performance. So is it even possible to tame this cpu in my setup? I’m confused I never had such cpu issues before. Feel like vendors are making it harder and harder to build a pc.. or should I use the voltage Offset instead? Thanks

Budget (including currency): $3,500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CP2077, Starfield, Witcher 3 Next Gen, heavily modded Skyrim, anything with good graphics Other details: I haven't built a PC in about 8 years and I'm finally giving up on buying laptops. Planning to run a 144Hz 1440p most likely, unless 4K is the way to go? Want to hit ultra settings on anything I can throw at it and have some longevity on upgrades. Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow Black ($155) GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC ($1700) or Gigabyte RTX 4090 AORUS Master OC ($1800) CPU: Intel i7 13700K ($390) Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT 360mm ($220) Mobo: Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ($255) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 ($130) PSU: Corsair RM1000e ($180) or Corsair HX1200? ($295) SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB M.2 NVMe ($60) (As you can tell) I like Corsair, but I'm not glued to it if anyone has better recommendations. Just seemed like a neat theme to have. So, I'm between $3,090 and $3,305 before tax, and I have some wiggle room. Planning to purchase within the next week. I'm getting everything at my local Micro Center (I believe they price match). Micro Center usually has a few bucks off here and there when you buy multiple items, so maybe another $50 off of the total.

What benefits there are by using amd apu+amd gpu or intel apu+intel gpu and more specifically what technologies are enabled by this setup? Also, is it worthy or not compared to a build using a nvidia gpu?
