Hello everyone, Will upgrading my i9 9900k to an i9 9900ks improve my framerates and cpu power? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
-
Whenever I play Rainbow Six Siege on max graphics (with only tapped render scaling) at 1920x1080 144hz, I get great framerate, avg about 150. But when I check my thermals, it says my CPU is at anywhere in between 88-96 degrees Celsius. From what I am reading, this is not normal. What should I do? My setup is a PC I customized from HP, it an Omen Obelisk: CPU: i9 9900k water cooled GPU: RTX 2080 RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (added afterwards) + HyperX 8GB (came with) Power Supply: 750 Watts Other stuff (don't know a whole much about pc hardware): Intel Optane Memory M10, 1TB storage. If you need anymore info, just ask.

Hi! Just finished building and setting up my music production and general game dev - rig. I ran a userbenchmark test and got the following score. Is this score good for my hardware? I have everything at stock speeds (no OC, UV etc). UserBenchmarks: Game 131%, Desk 165%, Work 154% CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K - 123.4% GPU: AMD RX Vega 64 - 132.5% SSD: Samsung 970 Evo NVMe PCIe M.2 1TB - 358.3% RAM: Crucial BLS16G4D32AESB.M16FE 2x16GB - 105.4% MBD: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER Thanks!

So here we have a build, that is working, but not as expected. Be quite silent base 801 (3x140mm fans) Corsair rm550x Asrock z370 pro4 I9 9900k Be quite shadow rock 2 cpu cooler Ddr4 16gb 2666mhz cl15 kingston hyperx Evga gtx1070 sc Ssd: samsung evo 860 500gb, toshiba tr150 480 gb Wifi card on pcie Rme hdsp 9652 on legacy pci Initially i had i7 8700k in this setup, all working perfect. Swapped for i9 9900k with latest bios 3.30. Aaand i got a BSOD every time. Random bsods. Default bios setting doesn't work like it should for i9. Lowering manually processor speed in bios oc menu to max 4.2 ghz on all cores and bclk 100 helps. But i can't get more than this numbers. Wtf? I9 in default turbo should get 4.7ghz on all cores. Performance test also showed cpu performance lower than usual for i9 = 15000+, instead of 21000+ Temperatures of cpu and mb are fine. 30-36 celsius in idle. Cpu in cinebench 80 celsius short peak. First i thought psu is not enough. Pulled out every component. leaving i9, one 8gb ram stick, system ssd alone. Even in oc till 5ghz, 550 watt should be enough, as i9 5ghz is about 250-270 watts. Sooo, loaded bios defaults... No result... Bsod every time till cpu frequency lowering to 4.2ghz. Where should i start? Change motherboard, psu or have i "bad" i9 chip? Asrock z370 pro4 have 10 phases, but those really are (4*2)+2. Now I'm thinking motherboards vrm not getting right voltage for i9? Can it be?

hey LTT forum today i come to you with a need for help. just yesterday i started to assemble my new pc: H100X water cooler S340 NZXT case 16 GB 3200 Hyper X RAM 240GB NVME SSD 1TB HDD MSI Aero 1080 8GB i9-9900k cpu z370XP sli gigabyte motherboard when my pc turns on all my water cooling and lighting works however my pc isn't posting and in 15 seconds it turns itself off. could this be down to my z370 motherboard not recognising my cpu? if so what can i do to update my bios either at home or at a pc store.

Hello, I am new to pc building, I am building a $3,000 pc and I need some help. I don't know a good config for my pc. I already bought am Asus Rog Z390-E mobo, and I wanted t do some overclocking. Should I go with an I7-9700k and an RTX 2080, or an I9-9900k and an RTX 2070. I also was planning on putting 32Gb of 3000Mhz Vengeance RGB Pro ram in the system. Btw, this is going to be strictly for gaming.

Doing a build with taxes and i am still up in the air for what CPU or CPU's I want. Looks like $550 is going to be my limit for just the CPU. I have a budget set of $1800 for the computer and another $400 for Monitor/Mouse/Keyboard. I will be using this for basic tasks, running a few VM's at one time, Plex Server with some on the fly transcoding which I am going to try to use a GPU to get most of that done to take the load off the CPU looking into a RTX 2060 or a Vega 56. I will be doing video transcoding with handbrake 3-10 videos a day. I will be running ICS for my internet connection so this PC will be always on. I already have a 360mm rad that I will be running in custom loop for cooling. I will be doing occasional gaming nothing crazy but would be nice to unwind with some first person shooters and racing games once in a while. I will be running a 1440p monitor. Been looking at i9 9900k, ryzen threadripper 2920x, Also been looking on ebay at used dual Xeon's would like E5-26xx v3 so i could use DDR4 memory but if I can get a better clocked E5-26xx v2 I would go that route as well. I care about single thread performance, multi thread, and power consumption as it will be on 24/7 365. Thanks for any thoughts any if you have experience with any of these CPU's please let me know your thoughts and any benchmarks you have done. I love to see real world cinebench scores for Overclocked chips to see what they are capable of. EDIT: I most likely will be getting the CPU new from Microcenter so keep this in mind on pricing. Or ebay if i go with Dual Xeon's

Hey, I'm having an issue with my new build I have a and intel i9 9900k (I’m not over clocking yet), (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz Corsair vengeance RAM, a Nividia 1060, 600w power supply, 1TB m.2, 4TB HDD all on a MSI Z390 A Pro board (in a cooler master cosmos 2 case) The issue I’m having is my CPU temps won’t stabilise and just keep rising does anyone have any suggestions, I’ve currently tried replacing the thermal paste, checking the connections and as a last ditch option I even tried swapping the fans directions. I've included a picture of my bios

Hello, I do not have much knowledge in this field, and I'm trying to build my own gaming/streaming PC for the first time. My budget is around $2000-$2400, not including a monitor or a keyboard. I have chosen about half of the components needed to build my PC and I'd like to see some feedback / suggestions. CPU: Intel Core i9 9900k Motherboard: Asus rog maximus xi hero GPU: Rtx 2070 Super (maybe upgrade to 2080 super) RAM: Corsair vengeance lpx 32GB(2x16GB) 3200MHz (maybe Corsair vengeance RGB Pro 32GB) CPU Cooling: Noctua Nh-D15 chromax.black (I prefer this huge air cooler to other liquid coolers) Storage: TBD Power supply: TBD I also have a few questions / concerns about this build: 1. is my overall build balanced? any component to upgrade to pair well with my CPU and GPU? 2. Will my huge Noctua nh-d15 cooler fit with my Corsair RAM? The reason i'm trying to buy LPX instead of RGB Pro is to have smaller size RAM to have enough space between the cooler and RAM. 3. Any suggestions for the amount of ssd/hdd (which one to use or to mix it) and a power supply (amount of W)? Thanks in advance!

Hi i was just going through the product and then this question came into my head is it really worth buying i9 9900K for 50000 Rs (apprx 704.68 USD) and not buy i9 9900KF which is for 38500 Rs (apprx 542.60 USD). I know i9 9900k has got integrated graphic but is it that important, that is my question. Please comment below so that i know the importnace if there is any.

Hi everyone, I am in desperate need of help. I got some new RAM and a new mobo and now my Windows 10 install appears to have corrupted itself (again). I have gone through all my motherboard settings (Fast Boot, UEFI vs Legacy, etc.). My RAM is fully detected, installed properly, and functional. I have tried to boot from a recovery USB (still freezes). MemTest86 completely locks up when running. I am really at my wit's end as to what to do short of wiping my drive and starting fresh. Would any of you fine people have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Honestly, if I just need to wipe the drive and start fresh I will do that. I just need to know if I'm overlooking something here. Here's what I'm working with: Mobo: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC CPU: i9 9900K RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2400 MHz GPU: GTX 1070 PSU: Seasonic Platinum OS Drive: Adata XPG SX8200 Pro

So, this new CPU, the 9900ks, gotta ask, who is the target consumer for this? what kinda gaming rig would need this power, or any rig for that matter? is it worth it? what kinda mobo would you need to stuff this into to make sure if you wanna crank this thing and use its full power? This versus the R9 3900X? Game's nexus gave me a solid break down but id like to hear more opinions tbh.

I own this motherboard not too long and I use a i5 9600k at 5ghz in it. I started feeling "not enough" the i5 9600k even though it is easily handle the 5ghz. My biggest concern is that the Z370 chipset would not able to handle the i9 9900k, also I don't know how good is my motherboard's VRMs, the motherboard doesn't read the temperatures, so I can't mesure under stress, even when I playing with my i5 9600k. I want a 8 core/16 thread CPU, but I used to have a Ryzen 7 2700x and I wasn't satisfied. I was thinking that I should go with a Ryzen 7 3700x, it has 8 core/16 threads and a good IPC for games, and a lots of strength for rendering. But I don't want to lose too much money, I don't know how sell today the i5 9600k and I don't know which is the better solution, sell my CPU + Motherboard and buy a new combination or just upgrad to a i9 9900k without changing anything else, if it's possible. What do you think? Any good thoughts? Thank you for advance...

I built my computer 2 months ago, and i have been noticing (using coretemp) that my VCORE is consistently jumping around like its on speed, even on idle as shown in photos. EXAMPLE look at VID: my specs are - msi trio gtx 2080 ti, i9 9900k, corsair h100 RGB, ROG Strix Z390-H Gaming MB, 32gb ram, evga 750 W g2 gold

Have been asked to make a system upgrade recommendation for a new workstation in the office. Main requirements are: Generating light maps and running real time global illumination in large high detail Unity3d scenes. Rendering scenes in a variety of video resolutions including 8k (8192 x 4096) Editing the 8k Pro Res 422 files in Adobe Pr CC So far I have narrowed it down to the R9 3950X, i9 9960X or maybe 3rd gen threadripper Intel seems to have the advantage with 8k in Adobe but with the potential price difference and the 3950x is said to have significantly higher clocks; I'm not sure if this matters much overall. Is there any clear advantage between the two I'm missing here? Also is there any argument in favour of a TR chip instead like the 3960X? Just for context here are the likely specs for the rest of the build: 64/128GB Ram 2080ti m.2 boot drive

Hello, I'm fairly new to overclocking but I managed to get my i9-9900k with a Corsair H115i to run at 5 GHz on all cores with a voltage of 1.32. No crashes whatsoever after running AIDA64 for an hour and OCCT for an hour and it finishes Cinebench without problems. Temperatures don't go over 75C. However whenever I run those stress tests my core clock hovers between 4.4 and 5 GHz according to HWMonitor, whenever I stop running the stress test they immediately go up to 5 GHz again. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my settings or something? Any help would be appreciated Specs: MSI Z370A Pro Intel i9-9900k Corsair H115i

I wanna start off by saying this is my first post ever? Maybe my first post in a long time? I don't really know. I came upon a i9-7900x it does not say that on the heat spreader though, It says confidential 3.3ghz. I wonder if it's worth more or less due to it being a sample or something like that. Is it binned better or anything like that? Any input is greatly appreciated!!

So, this question might have been asked very often, but I still haven't found an actual answer. Is it worth buying an engineering sample CPU off of ebay? I've seen a nice 9900@4.40GHz for 290$ with free shipping. (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.de%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153792563829) Also, would the MSI Z390 Gaming Plus support this chip? I don't really plan on overclocking (I heard they OC better so I might try it), but I'll surely lock all cores to 4.40GHz in throttlestop. Now, by looking at performance, I know it's basically a 9900T eating up 65W instead of 35W, but it still costs less than a 9900T.

Source: https://hothardware.com/news/intel-core-i9-10980xe-cascade-lake-x-51ghz If any of this is even remotely true (within +/- 300MHz), this will really shake up the CPU marketplace yet again. Because if the 18-core parts are allowing these insane all-core overclocks. In theory, less cores often means better overclocks. Translating to these Cascade Lake-X parts actually being worthy competitors to Zen 2 (3000-series). The 10920x displayed more than satisfactory performance against the 2920x, according to a leaked benchmark: While this is a 2nd Gen Ryzen part in the above chart, here is 3rd Gen Ryzen (3900x) performing only slightly better than the 10920x (3% better): https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14734945 @ 4.10GHz There is also another 3900x entry showing a 12% better score: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14512679 @ 4.29GHz So I guess we will have to wait and see if leaked benches with these Cascade Lake-X parts with an overclock appear, to do a better comparison. As the chart above the 10920x is @ 3.8GHz. We could extrapolate performance, but I doubt performance scales linearly in Geekbench with overclocks. EDIT: Did some quick maths: In the WCCFTech chart the 10920x's score is 44,046 @ 3.8GHz (Supposedly). Meaning @ 4.1GHz it would score around a 47,550 and @ 4.3GHz it would score a 49,800. This is looking really good for Intel, because they are claiming 4.5GHz+ overclocks with these parts.
