Hello guys I am planning a new build for the upcoming Nvidia GPUs. I am planning to get a RTX 2070 and the 9th gen i7 CPU, also i plan on overclocking the CPU and GPU. I am very tight in my budget and i need to cut down on case quality and looks. Can you tell me what wattage PSU will i need? Let's say that the 2070 has the power draw of a 1080 and the CPU has the power draw of 8700k. Is 750W good or do i need more? I am not very familiar with overclocking so that's what i am worried about. Also I would like to not use my PSU more than 70%. Thanks guys

My question is that is the I7-8700K in a single PC with a 32GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM enough for Multi-tasking on Dual Monitor Setup and also streaming at 1080/60FPS 12MBPS Very fast preset? Or do I really have to get myself the 2700x? I love the 2700x but I'm just not sure about it patching that good with the 2080-Ti. Since, Ryzen 2700x is only 6% on average slower than the I7-8700K I know that is a low ass difference but when it comes to streaming, the minimums changes for both of them. Since, Intel has the better single core performance they have good gaming performance and same reason why Intel has such good minimums. Plus, I'll be playing on a 240Hz monitor with the 2080-Ti and waiting for the reviews haven't pre-ordered yet just in case you guys are thinking. I'll be most likely streaming games like: -PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds -Battlefield V -Fornite -Tom Clancy's: Rainbow Six Siege -Grand Theft Auto V

This is the graph of my core clock speeds over the last 30 minutes. During this time no foreground application was being used. Should the clocks be maxed out at idle? Also from HwMonitor the clock speeds during this time averages to 4.0 GHz (Max is 4.6) Power Options in control panel is set to balanced. I just need to know if it's normal. If someone could give me their graph from MSI afterburtner, that would be great. Thank you.

Morning or Afternoon, (UK) I'm at a crossroads with a new build and unsure of the diminishing returns of investment with GPU and CPU combo. Current Intel Build £1700 ($2437) - Z370 Chipset, 960 NVME, 16G DDR4 3000Mhz, Hydro Cooling, 650W Modular PSU, 1440P 100Mhz Monitor. Choice 1: 11GB GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti costing £758 (MSRP £629) with an i3-8350k (4.0GHz) (£150) Costing Total: £908 ($1301) Choice 2: 8GB ASUS ROG STRIX GEFORCE GTX 1080 costing £573 (MSRP £529) with an i7-8700k (3.7GHz) £270 Costing Total: £843 ($1208) I'm planning on using my PC for light streaming, Ultra High Graphics in RTS like Anno 1800 and Anno 2205, I might try PUBG not sure. Don't care about RGB, using PC Specialist for the build as you can get the GPU near MSRP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

memory overclocking memory overclocking on z370
Corey937 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So i am trying to get some info on why my 32gb kit of g.skill trident z rgb 3200 cl 16 wont overclock past the 3200 mhz. I can tighten the timings to 15-15-15-30 with a tRFC of 450 and tCMD 1 i cant get the trfc below 450 no matter what and i cant get the ram over 3200. I have tried voltages all the way up to 1.9 and timings at cl20 trying to get over 3200. Do i just have a shity kit of memory or do i need to get a new motherboard? Thanks for the read and i hope someone has some advice for me.- 7 replies

Greetings, kind people of the internet! Everywhere I go, everything I watch, it seems that enabling XMP is a fast, stable, and easy way to get RAM running at its rated speed. Unfortunately enabling the default XMP profile causes the system to become unstable. Things to get out of the way: I carefully chose the RAM for my build from the official motherboard's QVL. The UEFI BIOS has been updated to the newest release, currently 0616. I can manually OC the ram to 16-18-38, 1.353V, and 2533MHz for a stable boot - but this is the maximum I've been able to achieve for a stable boot. I have manually attempted a 17-19-39, 1.36V, and 3200MHz boot, but this was also unsuccessful. In order to restart the system after raising the bar, I have to flip the PSU physically off, wait 10-15 sec, then boot - pressing F2/Del will open up the dialogue stating that a previous bios change may have caused instability. I have successfully run memtest86 at 16-18-38, 1.353V, 2533MHz, without any errors. SEPARATELY: I have successfully overclocked this processor to 5GHz and it is quite stable. Before attempting XMP or any ram changes, the BIOS is reset to default and there is no CPU overclock applied during my tests. Relevant system hardware MB: Asus STRIX Z370-E CPU: Intel i7-8700K RAM: F4-3200C16Q-32GTZSW Any information, tips, or thoughts on what the issue might be are most welcome. Thank you! -CalvinHobbesN7

This is like my 10th post about lists and asking for help, sorry for the spam... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Helpful stuff: • Link to cables I made: https://store.cablemod.com/configurator/#cfgload:5b10cc5dd34fd2.86913376 • Link to PcPartPicker parts list(with the Cablemod cables): https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MadeInChina_O69/saved/bL8nnQ Is this all the cables I need from ? • 24 pin ATX - for mobo • 8 pin ECT - for mobo(cpu) • 2x 8pin PCI-E - for gpu • SATA power - for ssd(for font window) • Triple SATA power(if included with PSU) - for hhd, kraken cooler • Duel+ Molex power(if included with PSU) - for NZXT Hue+ and NZXT usb hub ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Questions: • Is this all the connections I will need to have all my stuff powered in the pc? • Whould I benifit using modmesh? Or nylon? • If I stay with coustom PSU cables will the cables match the rest of the build? • Would the hue+ and included “smart” device in the h700i beable to controll all the rgb and if fans? • Do the fans connect to the mobo or “smart” device? If they connect to mobo will it be controlled by cam or asus? And will I have enough headers if not is there a good fan splitter? If connected to “smart” device how do I do that?

Hey all. Awhile ago I won a MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard from a giveaway. (Which costs around 175 Euro in my country) I have a few options and I want people's opinion on what I should do. I could buy a 8700K (Between 320-350 euro in my country) or I could sell the motherboard and wait for Ryzen+ or, well, any other new cpu coming out. I'm not in a hurry or anything, since it is just a secondary pc build. So it could wait for a bit if necessary. If I do buy the 8700K. What cooler do you recommend me getting? (Preferably an AIO, 280mm because of my case) My case: Mastercase Maker 5 Any questions is welcome ofcourse. Thanks in advance!

i7-8700k Low profile air cooler I7-8700K
Omegasamurai posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey guys, This is probably my first post? Iunno. Anyway, I'm upgrading most of my computer for the first time in a while, going from my super trusty I5-2500k (yea it's been a while) to a coffee lake I5 or I7. Since the last time I really upgraded my PC was back when I was in college, this will be the first time I can really pull parts together without a shoestring budget. In looking at the options, it seems like picking up an I7-8700K is not a bad plan for the sake of future proofing and versatility between gaming/content creation/etc. My one reservation is that I've been hearing things about the I7's thermals that make me a little apprehensive. I don't need to overclock right now; I'm sure I will aim to do that in a few years but I'll address that then. What I would like is to get a low-profile-ish air cooler that will handle the CPU at stock easily. i.e. I don't want to have to worry about thermals, RAM compatibility, it being a pain in the ass to install, etc. I haven't looked into this super hard, so if someone else has asked a similar question already just point me in the right direction. -

Hey guys, I was gonna build a new system with an i7-8700k. I already have the EKL Ben Nevis Tower Cooler in my current system. Is that one enough for the i7-8700k or should I get another one? And if I should get another one should I get a liquid or an air cooler? Thank you already

Before I spend hundreds of dollars (not anytime soon, just for the upgrade route of my rig), I've currently got an I5-7400 Installed on this board So i wanna know, is the i-7 compatible with this board?

Hi, So recently I've been getting into overclocking cause my CPU (i7-8700k is liquid cooled, not delided). I followed a guide online and pushed the CPU to 5Ghz following the 1.35V was according to some Forums a decent voltage, however, I've switched off all of my CPU and Memory overclocks (my GPU is still clocked, it's a 1080ti at 2088Mhz). The problem I'm running into is whenever I start my PC with any settings (from my testing) changed in the BIOS as soon as I press the power button everything lights up for approx 0.5 seconds, switches off then back on again and it loads perfectly fine. I have no idea why this is happening and if it should be happening at all, if I turn everything back to default it starts normally without a hitch. Leading onto my other question: the recommend voltage for 5Ghz is apparently 1.35V (I don't know if this is false or not), however, leaving the voltage settings on Auto in the BIOS, when I check CPU-Z and Corsair Link (they show similar results within 0.001 of each other) they're both hanging around 1.392 to 1.4v range, this is higher than what I've seen is needed for 5Ghz, is that right? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Heya peeps, I'm planning a semi big rebuild of my current rig and had a couple of questions. I have been reading a lot to figure out whether I should buy the I5-8600K or I7-8700K as I will likely only be gaming. From what I understand very few games benefit from hyperthreading, so would the slighly higher clock speeds of the I7 be enough of a cost benefit in your opinion. Secoundly I'm planning on buying the "Be Quiet! Shadow rock LP cooler" and i was wondering if this would be enough to run the I7 at fx 4.8GHz - 5GHz? I hear the performance is good but I don't have enough overclocking experience to figure out the thermal output of the CPU at those speeds. I thought I might aswell rattle of my future rig, in case anyone has some advice ASUS Prime Z370-P I5-8600K or I7-8700K Shadow rock LP Samsung 960 EVO SSD M.2 250GB (mainly as boot drive) transfer from current rig GTX 1070 Dual OC thingy 32 GB DDR3 kingston RAM (don't quite remember exactly which) Thanks a lot for any answers

I purchased a CPU grom Newegg. It was not an OEM listing, however I received a OEM i7-8700k. After many phone calls(and hours of research) I have not gotten a solid answer of whether my CPU is new or used. It has marks of the heat spreader(which were gray). I managed to get most off, leading me to believe these marks were from uncleaned thermal-paste. What are your thoughts? Does this product seem new to you? What should I do?

Hello! I want to upgrade to 10GBit at home (well, the connection from Gaming Rig to NAS). The question now is, would I loose any performance on my Gaming Rig by doing so? I have: 1x i7-8700K 2 x 1080Ti 2 x Samsung 960 Pro 1TB, in RAID0 I want to add one 10G NIC (ROG AREION 10G ?) I kinda know that there is an "excess" of PCIe Lanes on the Z370 Chipset for the drives and other stuff. But will those be enough? Or will I loose any performance? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am looking to upgrade my system, I've already chose most of the parts, but I am worried about the cooling. I do not plan to manually overclock it, I just want my CPU to stay really cool so there won't any issues. Do you think Cooler Master H60 is good enough for i7-8700k ? Do you think I should invest more money to get a H110 ? If I would overclock what cooler would you recommend ?

So, I recently decided since my X99 5820k bit the dust, that it was time for a slight upgrade. It isn't much, but I decided to hop to the Z370 platform and grab myself an i7-8700k. Now, I know these things are typically hot, so I didn't think much when I saw it sitting at 50 degrees when idle. And then I realized that nobody else was reporting said numbers. Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 Processor: i7 8700k PSU: Corsair AX1200i RAM: 2x8 GB (16GB total) G.Skill Trident Z RGB @ 3200Mhz M.2 SSD: Samsung 960 Pro - 512GB CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Pro 240mm On stock settings, with MCE disabled, I was idling at 40-50 degrees. CPU was exceptionally unstable with MCE on, unless I increased the CPU voltage to 1.28v. I'm currently running stock settings with MCE _OFF_, and am hitting single core turbo speeds of 4.7, as advertised, but regularly hit 90 degrees when doing so. At first I thought it may be a cooler issue, but the loop was moved from one PC to another, and thermal paste was properly cleaned, removed and reapplied. I've tried reseating it multiple times, as well as reapplying different types of thermal paste I have laying around. No go. I tried a mild overclock despite the temps of an all core 4.5 Ghz at 1.30v, which I know is quite insane on the voltage... but I couldn't manage to get it stable under that. It pretty much pegged 100 degrees the second testing began. I know these things run hot, but this is ridiculous. Is this even normal? Also worth mentioning, this is a replacement power supply as my previous AX1200 (not i) decided to go homicidal on all my X99 stuff. It literally fried the RAM, processor AND motherboard. Talk about crap luck. In a stable configuration, this is what I am getting in OCCT reporting: https://1drv.ms/f/s!ApZn2e3A5zhUgexAg4A0fhgsNU7gwQ Any suggestions? Does it look like the replacement power supply could be bad? did I just have the worst luck ever in the silicon lottery draw? I may know things about components and all, but my knowledge of reading and diagnosing things based on voltages and whatnot? Slim to none. Interested to get some responses.

So, some months ago I discussed with you folks about what kind of streaming setup I wanted. In the end, talking with more people and etc., I decided to go for a dual pc setup. The gaming pc will use an i7-8700k, and the streaming one probably a r7 1800x now that prices have dropped alot. I will start by assembling the gaming pc, and using that until twitch gives me for options, and then I will upgrade with the streaming box. So, I just bought the 8700k yesterday after snatching a minor amazon deal(315 euros clean, less costly then the 7700k lmao), and I'm now looking for a motherboard. I'm posting the full build here, but many pieces are not final; With all that being said, what I don't need on the motherboard is; crossfire/sli support(I know they almost all have it but just in case, I'll specify that I don't need it), wireless networking options. What I would - like-; an heatspreader for a possible nvme ssd, an even single USB thunderbolt 3, an heatspreader for a possible 960 evo& the likes, nice rbg? I guess? since I spend this amount of money I might aswell have a nice sight, some nice VRM cooling what I need; good audio on board(although later I will buy a mixer when I have 2 pcs, but for the moment that I don't, I would like to have good surround sound/soundstage, clear sounds, etc., I have good headphones for it, -beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 250 omh- so why not), a nice amount of USB ports including at least two 3.1 for mouse and keyboard(I need at least 4 usb ports, would highly prefer 6 total), I've heard that are motherboards that are capable to improve your connectionwith some technology(specifically latency, while playing online games, and while I have a 100mb connection, soon upgrading to a 1gb one, latency isn't guaranteed by high speeds), good vrm(I'm not going to do heavy overclock but I would rather have a mobo with nice vrm than a bad one), good build quality; I don't want any cheap plastic parts that might break under pressure or stuff like that If you have any suggestions in mind or have any questions, please feel free to comment. Thank you and sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes in advance!
