First I'll start with my setup: i7 4790k without OC ASUS Maximus VII Hero ROG RAM 16gb G.Skill RipjawsX F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II 4gb 2tb Western Digital WDC WD20EZRX-22D8PB0 128gb Samsung SSD 850 PRO Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600W NZXT. Noctis 450 Case Windows 10 professional 64bit My Cpu is getting really hot 34° C idle and 80°C under load with my Corsair H100i GTX watercooler while using the highest settings. My VRM is idle around 40°C and under load 75°C. After thinking about I hoped my H100i GTX is broken and ym VRM is not getting any air to be cooled, so I send it back and bought a bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 to solve the problem. It didn't. My CPU is now 2-5°C hotter in every situation and the VRM is about the same Temperature but now with airflow around it. To stress the CPU im using CPUID CPU-Z ,for the temperature Corsair Link and Speccy. If anyone got any idea what is happening to my little baby please respond. Thanks.

Hello! so recently my friend moved to another country and gave me his cpu which he barely used for a month, the i7 4790k. Since its a 1050 LGA socket it will not work on my motherboard sadly (I'll list my PC specs later :P) Anyway, I've got to choose between these motherboards : ASUS ROG - MAXIMUS VII RANGER ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER MSI Z97 GAMING 5 which one would you guys recommend for gaming ? I've heard there's no real difference between these, also they this is worth mentionning: they are at the same price in here so might aswell get the best one :P. I plan to overclock it in a few years I might even get watercooling if needed . Also here is my current PC : CPU: i5 3570k Motherboard : Z77A-G45 GPU: MSI GTX 770 2GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB 1600 PSU: CM GX II 650 W Bronze Case: CM Storm Enforcer Thanks alot for your help, have a nice day :).

I need help overclocking my i7 4790k further than 4.62 Ghz at this over clock i am stable, ran p95 for 2 hours never broke 68c I find my self to be a novice overclocker, and am in need of some help to go even further. I currently can start my rig in 4.7 open apps ect. but when i run p95 i lock up. I am open for some changes in what i need to do to go further, i want to maybe get over 6.7 if possible. -Thanks Rigg i7 4790k Corsair hg110i gt cooled Evga z97 mobo 16 gig ram 1600 evga Geforce GTX 970 ftw+ x2 ssd Current OC setting Core speed 4.62 Ghz Multiplier x46.0 (8-46) Bus speed 100.23 MHZ Core voltage 1.35V (note cpu-z only shows 1.275V) This may be a reason why i can not go higher, i do not believe my cpu is utilizing all the voltage that i am allocating to it.

Hi there, Before I start my question, here's my current build: -XFX FX-777A-ZNF4 Radeon HD 7000 Series; AMD; Radeon HD 7770; 1000 MHz; CrossFire; 2048 x 1536 pixels; 2560 x 1600 pixels (FX-777A-ZNF4) -Intel Core i7 i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150) -Asrock Z97M ANNIVERSARY MATX Motherboard Socket 1150 (Intel Z97, 4x DDR3, 4x SATA III) -HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Black -EVGA 500B 500W 80+ BRONZE PC Power Supply -LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x SATA Half Height Internal DVDRW Drive -Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive -Fractal Design Core 1000 Series Micro ATX Case As you can probably tell, my PC is severely bottlenecked, with my GPU not being up-to-date with my CPU. I have made up my mind that I will go for the GTX 970, as opposed to the r9 390 after hours and hours online. What I cannot decide for however, is which GTX 970 to go for. I'm looking for a GPU to buy for Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up. I currently play games like GTA 5, The Witcher 3, Empire: Total War, Total War: Attila, Cities Skylines, War Thunder, Battlefield Hardline, and a couple of other medium-high resource-intensive games. I would like to get at least high settings on these games (if not ultra) at 1080p (single monitor), and get 60 fps. Lastly, I don't really want any fanboys or fangirls on here, arguing that one is superior, due to nothing more than them owning that particular car. They all have their pros and cons, and I'd appreciate it if you'd state the advantages AND disadvantages for going with your chosen GPU. My case is slightly small for GPUs like the G1 Gaming, so please suggest some small ones. I also don't really mind sound, as long as gameplay is sufficient for my needs stated above, and I don't really overclock. I do not have sufficient cooling at the moment, for overclocking, so I'd like a rather good factory overclock. Thank you to whoever replies. Cheers!

Hello, everyone! I have an ASUS Z97-P motherboard and an Intel Core i5 4690K. Can you tell me the difference between the Intel Core i7 4790K and the Intel Core i7 5775C, so I know what to upgrade to if I want to? This is not a trolling post. I really don't know which is good for what ^^; I mainly game on my system. I'm also a Linux and BSD administrator. So no rendering and stuff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Hey This is my first post here, as the title says. I've already purchased some of these components, and therefore will not be planning on changing them out unless they are overwhelmingly bad or not worth it. (Motherboard though I will not change, this is my final answer Already went through two motherboards (purchase and return and everything and still have a spare H97 sitting around) so I don't intend to change it again I am planning on running Eve Online at 1080p or possibly higher on at least 2 monitors or as many as 5 if I can afford to pick up two more (I already have 3 I'm looking for this system to last a long time, and I also was not as concerned with aesthetics on the inside of the case (except the 980Ti, Angel Eyes is awesome The NZXT Phantom case I'm using has no windows, therefore the only illumination would be the case fans, which are green LED's PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MLRMRB Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MLRMRB/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($329.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.44 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1/USB 3.1 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (Purchased For $236.00) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (Purchased For $85.95) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($84.98 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($688.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: NZXT Phantom (Black/Green) ATX Full Tower Case (Purchased For $118.11) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $79.99) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($17.78 @ OutletPC) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($89.99 @ NCIX US) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $9.99) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan (Purchased For $26.24) Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 86.7 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $16.90) Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse ($79.00 @ Logitech) Total: $2013.46 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-02-02 07:34 EST-0500 -List didn't work, just fixed it -Also, any suggestions on even moar custom green lighting (LED's, etc) would be awesome, I want this thing to glow ^.^

Hey guys, I need your Help! (To start off with: Sorry for my bad english ) I wanted to build my own PC with the following parts: CPU: I7 4790K 4.0 - 4.4 Ghz MB: Asus ROG Maximus VII Ranger / Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 (not decidet yet. which one would u recommend? ) GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 970 overclocked version SLI (power supply, hard drive, case and so on aren`t necessary for the question) Then I saw This Video from Linus: which, as far as I anderstood it, says that I can`t get the full power out of two graphiccards whith this CPU and that both GPUs would only use PCIe 8x instead of PCIe 16x. A few Days Later I saw this Video: where he uses the I7 4790K whith two GPUs. Does it means that I can use two GPUs whith this CPU and the performance increace or is there not much difference if I only use one GPU. Thank you for the help in advance Philipp

Hey there everyone, just checking temp on my processor at max load and getting over 80 degrees i'm not sure what's going on with my loop as mainly this started happening when i added my gpu to my loop, i'm not sure if the heat of the gpu might affect the real temp when it comes to temps off the cpu, I've got a phoyba pump, phoyba block, alphacool st30 radiator, ek 980ti block and phoyba res. i'm running a i7 4790k clocked at 4.0ghz stock and boosted to 4.4ghz, and currently rendering a video i'm getting in a range of temps from 72 - 87 degrees via RealTemp.

So I have the following issue. My CPU0 occasionally spikes to 100% and stays there, out of nowhere. Rest of the cores are fine and don't spike, but just that one core is at maximum, in idle! There are no high temps or anything like that. Whenever the CPU0 (thread1) is at 100%, the computer stutters, lags like hell and I can't really do much, which is weird because the overall cpu usage is at 20%-30%... I have no idea what's causing this, hence why I'm posting here, maybe someone else experienced this? MY config: i7 4790k (not OC). GTX 970 12GB RAM 1 Intel SSD 180GB 1 Kingston SSD 120GB 1 Seagate HDD 1TB 1 Seagate SSHD 2TB Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER I run a dual monitor config. --- If someone else experienced this and knows how to fix, that'd be great.

So recently my computer has been acting weird lately i get temps of 70c degrees on csgo and i get around 80 degrees for my main gpu on all max settings which has never happened to me.I also was playing rocket league and at one point my first r9 290 was hitting temps of 93 degrees and my cpu was hitting 73 degrees which makes no sense to me because none of these games ever made my components this hot.Keep in mind those are temps of all my fans in the case and the gpu fans at 100%.This problem only started a week ago and i can't get rid of it yes i have the stock cooler on it but i never overclocked as i already have a few components for a custom watercooling loop. I've tried replacing the thermal paste on the cooler nothing happened, i tried a different stock cooler on it nothing happened, i also tried resetting mobo settings nothing happened at this point i'm frustrated because i can't figure out whats wrong with the computer any help would be appreciated on how i can fix this issue.

Hey everyone, i'm currently having some problems. I want to upgrade my computer. My current setup: CPU: i7 870, 4x 2,93GHz (not overclocked, stock cooler) Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-P55 USB3 (no SLI support) Memory: 8 GB DDR3 1333MHz (4x2 bars) GPU: GTX 970 4.096 MB GDDR5 Power supply: 650 Watt Be quite SSD: Samsung EVO 840 My problems are: I've benchmarked my current system and noticed that I could have a problem. Actually I don't know. It's just an assumption. So I've used HWinfo64 and RiverTuna for my benchmark. During the benchmark I played GTA V on ULTRA (all settings are on the highest level and texture scaling is on x1.2 or so, except MSAA is turned off) with about 40FPS. Sometimes more, sometimes less. My GPU ran at about 99% utilization, my CPU at 50-60% and my memory at 60-70%. But when i tried to increase my graphics settings (don't ask me. I know that 40 FPS are okay, and even the settings are okay, but i just want more ), i've noticed that my FPS were going down to about 10 FPS and my hardware had the same utilization as before. So my assumption was that my GPU is just too "slow". Don't know how to say. As I've posted my problem in an other board they told me, to overclock the CPU or get the new Skylake generation. My ideas are: Get the a new Skylake i5 6600k with a new mainboard and 16GB of DDR4 memory and don't buy a new graphics card Get the i7 4790k with a new mainboard and 16GB of DDR3 memory and don't buy a new graphics card Get two Radeon R9 390X for Crossfire Now my questions are: Is it worth upgrading to one of the CPUs i've mentioned (without a new graphics card)? Or should i overclock my CPU and get two R9 390X for Crossfire? Of course i would get a water cooling or a big tower. And Would my CPU bottleneck the R9 390X Crossfire? What would be the better solution for me? One thing I should mention is, that I've tried to overclock my CPU to 3,37GHz (just for a short period of time, because of my cooler) and I've noticed a small FPS boost of about 5-10 FPS and an overall better system performance (faster boot etc.). Thank you. Best regards

I have a Pentium G3258 , and I need to upgrade sometime in the near future. I got a Sony RX100M4 for Christmas, and completely overlooked the fact that editing video at 4k IS NOT A JOB FOR A DUAL-CORE PENTIUM WITH NO HYPERTHREADING. So, I was wondering: which LGA1150 CPU is the best value? I'm considering the Xeon 1231v3, Core i5 4690k, or the Core i7 4790k. I already heard that the Xeon is almost on par with the i7, even though it's priced about the same as the i5. However, I'm running an overkill setup with 3 monitors(4th coming in a few days), 1 of them is running off the the CPU's graphics(it's analog, and I'm already using my GPU's VGA port), and the Xeon doesn't have on-board graphics at all. So, would it be worth saving up for the i7, or should I just go for the i5? According to CPU Boss, it doesn't look like the i7 is worth spending an extra $100 compared to the i5. My video editing primarily consists of After Effects, but I heard that even people with i7s don't get the best performance when editing 4k. I might be able to surrender my analog monitor if I can get an especially good deal on the Xeon, and PCPartPicker isn't giving me prices lower than $240.

Hey everyone i know that this question seems kind of stupid but i really don't know which to go for It will be primarily for gaming and some mild streaming for my friends nothing professional. I'll be playing most of the eSports titles (LoL, CS:GO) some WoW and so on. A caveat of my choice is that i want to go for a m-atx build. i just like the idea of a very powerful gaming machine that is "mobile". The issue here is that the Z170 + i5 option is like 40/50€ cheaper than the Z97 + i7 combo. is the newer chipset/ddr4 worth the i7 to i5 "downgrade" ? Also i do intend to do a custom WC build on it next year (not sure if that's important) Thanks in advance, and have a good weekend rest of the build: PSU: Cooler Master V750 80+ Gold (already owned) CASE: Thermaltake Core V21 CPU COOLER: CM Hyper 212 EVO (already owned) HDD: WB Blue 1TB 7200 RPM GPU: EVGA GTX 980 (already owned) RAM: 8GB Hyperx Fury DDR3/4

Hello I am new to these forums, but i thought i'd ask you guys before upgrading my computer. I am mainly playing games, and toy around with music programs from time to time. I am currently running: MSI p67a-c45 motherboard GTX970 Asus Strix i7 2600k PSU 750w EVGA with a really old benq 1080p 24" monitor. I'm thinking about upgrading to an SLI configuration, I'm able to purchase a cheap GTX 970 Galax Mini from a friend. Upgrading to a Z97-a Motherboard Getting an i7 4790k OR a i5 4690k And purchasing a new monitor, either an: Asus mx299q with a resolution of 2560 X1080 or a Samsung S29E790C with the same resolution but with a curve. Please help me or come with new suggestions! I am waiting for the upcoming black friday sales, and I think i can get a few of these things cheap. Should i go with i5 or i7 on this kind of resolution? Is it a good Motherboard? Should I SLI GTX970 strix with a Galax mini? Thanks alot, and i hope i didn't write this in the wrong section.

So, i've naively gone ahead and purchased these items with minimal research. I don't really know what motherboard I need, or cooling fans, or power pack i need to be compatible with, and maintain and operate these components. Most importantly it seems, is that I need to purchase a motherboard that is actually 'compatible' to 'host' these components. Here is a list of things I have: CPU - Intel i7 4790k GPU - Palit Geforce GTX 980 Ti RAM - 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600MHz SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SATA III, 2.5" SSHD - Seagate 4TB SATA III, 3.5" Seeing as i've already bought them, even if they're somewhat crappy, or not 'ideal' i intend to integrate them into my build (this will be my first build ever). The parts that I 'believe' that I need include: Motherboard Power Supply Unit Blu Ray Disc Reader Case Cooling Fan(s) So, with this in mind, and my list of things needed probably not containing correct terminology; could someone please come to the rescue, and save me before I spend all my money on more components, only to find that they're incompatible with each other. Like, that would really suck... In Advance: Thank you for you help, it's much appreciated. Yours Sincerely, Some random guy… or girl (you don't know my gender), going by the alias "Saladiman". (I suppose the man without wo in that alias suggests that i'm of the male gender… oh well…) PS: I should probably shit up… I mean type up… I mean bu..ton.. up.. I don't even know what I mean... PPS: Please help me
