Pc cannot reboot properly I have a pc with an MSI z87 g43 motherboard and recently got an i7 4790k to use with it. I updated the bios to version 1.8 and it works but the pc is unable to reboot properly. If i try to reboot it, it turns back on and the fans spin but the usb peripherals and monitors receive no signal. I always have to turn the pc completely off and back on again and this is making it difficult to install windows on the pc.

So today I treated myself with a used RX6600XT that performed on par and even better than what to expect from it in 3DMark Time Spy. It was tested in the sellers system, the guy put the GPU into the system with brand new driver install so no problem there. I bring it home, put it into my system consisting of: i7 4790k @ 4.8Ghz 32GB 1600MT/s Asus Maximus VII Hero Asus Dual RX6600XT 8GB Before this GPU upgrade I had a RX580 4GB, games ran fine but anything more demanding, set it back, especially because of the 4GB VRAM. After DDU‘ing drivers and installing the latest from AMD, I fire up PUBG, a game that I mostly play, on the old GPU it ran at about 100FPS at 1080p. GPU sat usually at 100% while CPU was chilling at 50-60%. On the new one it runs at 80-90FPS while GPU and CPU sit at 40-50%. I know 1080p is CPU intensive but I should at least be seeing an improvement over the old one, not worse. I also fired up BeamNG.drive where I saw a similar situation. Low GPU and CPU usage as well as low FPS (compared to old one). Old one ran it 70-80FPS, new one runs it at 60ish. For the record, my monitor is 75Hz which is the threshold I‘m looking to achieve. So at this point, I don‘t know what to do. I currently don‘t have money to upgrade to a new platform but that is in the works. I just want to play games at more than 75FPS and it‘s mind boggling to me how an upgrade can actually take you a step back. If anybody knows the sollution, I‘ve already looked at a few other topics regarding similar issues with the same GPU but I can‘t find any correspondence with mine. Any help is appriciated. Regards, tw1st3d

Budget (including currency): $300-500 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details I currently have a i7 4790k, 16gb DDR3 ram, and a gtx 1650. My motherboard is a asus H81I-PLUS but it’s basically trash. I’m looking to increase performance hopefully just by upgrading my motherboard and maybe my ram.. I can play all games well and can even get a steady 30fps on high graphics on Cyberpunk 2077.

Hi! With Cyberpunkt 2077 releasing in a few days I thought it would be a good idea to get every last bit of power out of my 4790k. The problem I have is that my i7 4790k doesn't want to go to any clock higher than 4.4Ghz. I have an MSI H97 Gaming 3 as motherboard (yes it is an H chipset, yes it could OC). I already overclocked the same CPU on the same board a few years ago just to see how far it could go and I could at least OC it to 4.7Ghz. That OC was stable and also did apply properly. I don't know what changed in the meantime but now I want to OC it again since now I really need the OC and it just doesn't want to boost to the set multiplier anymore as if it is capped at 4.4Ghz. If I reboot into BIOS and check the multiplier again, it is still set at the OC I entered and every tool in Windows also reports that same maximum multipier. I already tried to restore BIOS defaults, reset CMOS, various combinations of OC settings. I would appreciate every help on how I can get the CPU to go over a multiplier of 44 again Thank you for every input and please let me know if you need any further information to be able to help me! Edit: I knew someone would say I need a Z chipset board, but no, some H97 board actually could OC a K CPU including the MSI H97 Gaming 3.

Hello guys, I'm new here and I was hoping to get some advice here. I'm planning to buy a 3090 RTX ROG Strix Gaming since I heard this will go out in limited stocks. So I decided that I will buy this gpu first and then after 6 months, I will upgrade for other hardware components such as cpu, motherboard etc. So here is my current specs: i7 4790k Maximus hero vii 32GB ram 1200 watts psu xg279q monitor at 1440p resolution with 170hz Will I be able to use 3090 rtx while waiting to earn some more money to buy my other upgrades?

Hey, Havent been active on here for a while but I recently upgraded to an i7 4790k in a good deal, in overclocking I have it stable at 4.6GHz and 1.3v, I can push it up to 4.7GHz at 1.4v and 4.8 at 1.55v. This seems rather high to me, and 1.4v is the upper limit of my cooling, despite a custom water loop (rather bad CPU block which needs upgrading, I also have suspicions that the IHS needs lapping). Are there any tips for overclocking the 4790k that I might be missing? Because the voltages seem rather high for the respective clock speeds.

Good morning, I have had the same i7 4790k since 2017 and just recently upgraded my GPU from an R9 380 to a 2070 super. I did achieve some performance improvement obviously but maybe not as much as I would like. For example: Warzone on Ultra @ 1080p I am achieving 80-110 fps and sometimes it drops into the low 70's. I was wondering if the CPU is holding me back since it is quite old and if so what would be some good suggestions on upgrades? My Build

I have just upgraded to an rtx 2060 as of yesterday and i downloaded fortnite just to see the improvement in fps over my previous gtx 1050 which got around 60-100 fps with drops. There was a little bit better performance around 140-150 fps on pretty much all low settings, but there were frequent drops below even 60 fps whenever like anything happened. i also tested maple story 2 which is a game with horrendous optimisation and my fps only went up a little bit too, like 10 fps more, from 20 -> 30. Im wondering what the issue is with my pc, my specs are: rtx 2060, i7 4790k, 8gb ddr3 ram (1866Mh) ssd for booting and both of the mentioned games and hdd for stuff. I am sorry this is so vague i just really feel there should be better performance, is there maybe some sort of bottlenecking going on? any help appreciated.

Hi, I've been rocking a gaming pc with the following configuration since the last 5 years. i7 4790k 8x2 corsair vengeance ram Nvidia gtx 760 by asus Gigabyte z97d3hp motherboard 120 gb ssd coupled with a 2 tb hdd (both WD green). Most of the games that I've been playing on this machine have been in working fine until a few weeks ago. All games were played at 1080p. Just cause 3 - low to med settings, 40-50 fps. Gta 5 - med to high settings - 55-60fps. Injustice 2 - low to med settings - 60fps. Rise of tomb raider - med preset - 60fps. Assassin's creed odyssey - low to med - 30-45fps. In the last couple of weeks I've noticed some serious amount of lag with all these games JC3 - low settings 18-28 fps (unplayable) Injustice 2 - low to med 30-40 fps Rise of tomb raider - med preset - 24-30 fps AC Odyssey - lowest settings 7-26fps (unplayable) Gta 5 - unable to connect to servers Both Nvidia and the Intel HD drivers are upto date and and I have a 40mbps internet connection (rockstar server). Arethere any options to fix this issue other than giving windows 10 and all the games a fresh install as I already did that back in December.

Firstly I'd like to say hello to everyone this is my first time writing here so thank you for hearing me out ahead of time. I'm currently running a i7 4790k Stock at 4.0Ghz Paired with a 1070 ti, and 32GBs of Kingston DDR3 Ram and a z97-a motherboard and I've been noticing random hitching in games like a slight freeze followed by a loss of anywhere from 5-15fps (sometimes even 20+ but rarely) this is after maintaining up to that point a near constant 60-144 (based on whatever game I'm playing at the time). I had been looking around at other people who have had the same issues such as staying above 60fps in Fortnite with Ultra settings in 1080p with my setup or same with Hitman 1/2 and some came to the conclusion that it might be a memory issue and upon looking into it and removing 2 of my 8GB Kingston DDR3 games it gave me a much much more stable feeling without the hitching however I lost a good chunk of FPS anywhere from 15-30 on some games but even in the lower 40s for games like Hitman it sill had less hitching and next to zero freezes I wasn't sure if this was something I should expect so I booted up CPU-Z to get a look at what was going on and turns out with two sticks of Ram it was only running in Single channel so I figured okay slot 1 and 2 must not be the correct one so I removed one slot from 2 and put in three and again it felt smoother but I had even more of a loss of framerate and upon inspection I found out it was because I was only running 1 8GB Stick and not the second one and yet again it was also in Single Channel mode (before you ask I tried slot 3 & 4 and slot 2 and 4 and neither worked at all the computer wouldn't even post with them setup like that.) So now here I am dealing with the hitching/freezing and low-ish FPS again with all 4 sticks back inside the computer and with that being the only way to set it to dual channel the freezing/hitching happens at any game settings so I'll see it on medium/high/Ultra and even low settings but it'll be less frequent while still happening. Please someone help me figure out what could be the issue I've always dealt with this since this computer was built originally about 5 years ago and since then I've swapped out harddrives, GPUs and fans originally thinking those might be the issue and to an extent it did help lessen it but the issue still remains and the gameplay hitching makes a 100-200fps game feel less stable than just playing something on console and its really getting quite annoying. Below are some examples of the dual 4 stick and the single 2 stick channel setup and how the games felt CSGO: Random half second hitches and overall less responsive with nearly double the FPS (Dual) CSGO: Smooth as butter no hitching or massive framerate dips. (Single) Fortnite: 100-144 fps feeling sluggish and when attempting to fast build at the most un-opportune time I'd get the random freezing or huge framerate drops (Dual) Fortnite: 80-130 fps feeling far more stable with less screen tearing and a greater response time even when dropping into the low 50s near end game with lots of build on screen. (Single) Hitman: Unable to maintain 60fps in high or ultra settings with V-sync off and even with it on still dropping to lower 50s and sometimes 40s (Dual) Hitman: Still unable to maintain 60fps even dropping to the 40s at times but the screen tearing without v-sync is minimal and the gameplay feels more fluid with less hitching and freezing (Single) Battlefield V: Drops to lower 50s with Ultra settings and for some random reason into the higher 40s in High settings with hitching when loading in and when in huge battles (Dual) Battlefield V: Drops again into the 40s but this time on Ultra settings and it felt better than it did with High settings in the Dual Channel 4 Stick setup I hope that the info I've provided can help us finally diagnose this issue if you need anymore please do tell me what and how to come back getting you this info and I'll do my best to do so. Thank you all again so very much in advance.

i have a i7 4790k overclocked to 4.48ghz. Why when i run cinebench it says my processor speed is only 4.08ghz? the stock speed of this cpu is 4.00ghz so its not just telling me the stock speed i assume. The stock turbo speed is 4.4ghz. its not even using the stock turbo speed. i would obviously get a better score if cinebench would use the full 4.48ghz.. Whats goin on here?

Hey guys, I just bought a i7 4790k and want to run it on my MSI Z87 G43. To make this possible I have to update my BIOS and ME. (Update: BIOS and ME update was successfull, but now I get Windows Error Messages at booting) I didn't know that I also have to update ME, so I only updated BIOS to the latest version 1.11 (aka 1B) via Live Updater not with USB drive...my bad. But after this update my system doesn't boot. I get stuck at MSI loading screen or get Windows 'stop code' error messages. So I know want to update BIOS and ME together and placed the 3 files in my USB drive root folder but when I'm in the Click BIOS 4 and go to M-Flash I get the following error message.. Please help me in this issue. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I've updated my mainboard to the newest version and put on my new CPU. Unfortunately my system does not boot. I can go into BIOS and see that my CPU is detected correctly, after that I get errors only. Eirher the MSI loading screen gets stuck, or I get blackscreen after the loading screen or I get a windows error message. I am not sure what the problem is. I thought the black screen is because I have no gpu and use onboard only but why the stuck loading screen and error message?? Please help me guys!

Hi all, Yesterday evening I was gaming and suddenly my pc slowed down real quick and I couldnt perform any actions anymore so I decided to restart my pc. During the restart after the gigabyte logo the pc shutdown itself so I couldnt get past the gigabyte logo screen. After the shutdown i went into the bios I saw my cpu clocking itself to 0.2ghz and it had a temp of 91c. I have no clue what the cause of all this is. Have been using this machine for 8 months without any hitch. Als the fans on the radiator are spinning and in the bios it shows 0rpm for the cpu fan. And my cpu is set to base clock speed without any OC. Any help is greatly appreciated Specs: I7 4790k Corsair h100i (not the v2) 16gb ram Msi GTX 1080 Gigabyte B85 HD3 Things I have tried: Put the cpu fan cable coming out of the cooling block to a system fan header. Tried to reseat my cooling block on the cpu. (Sorry for any mistakes in the spelling. English is not my first language.)

Hello Guys, I wanna upgrade my 8 ddr3 1600mhz ram to 16gb 2400mhz ddr3 ram. (https://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-240-Pin-Desktop-F3-2400C11D-16GXM/dp/B00DH9M3C4) My cpu is a i7 4790k and i know that every ram speed above 1600mhz is an OC. And the ddr3 2400mhz ram runs at 1,65v, while for the i7 4790k it's better if it's not higher than 1,5v it states on their website. Will this be a problem for my pc? Will i need any special cooling? (Motherboard is msi z97 gaming 3 if that matters) Thanks, MoblietzS

Hi all, I am Ocing my i7 4790k and I just want to make sure im doing things right, and everything seems safe. I've added the stress test results I got, would you say its safe to push it a little more? had it running for 20 mins and no crashes or anything. I still had msi afterburning, Microsoft edge with 9 tabs open, battlenet, steam and hw monitor all running as well while the test was going.

Hello, first post and first time I've ever had to reach out for help because I couldn't find a solution anywhere else. [This is a last ditch attempt at some help and guidance. As I type this I am formatting a usb to give a reformat a chance, even though I have just upgraded and installed for the first time win 10 pro.] Ok so the story begins, I have been using windows 7 ultimate for way too long, I have decided to upgrade to windows 10 pro for pretty much no reason, my PC ran great. I just recently (beginning of 2018) bought and installed a EVGA gtx 1080ti ftw3 hybrid. (To replace my old msi gtx 960.) So I went with this gpu in particular because I also plan on buying a i9/mobo and some ddr4 ram. And I figured too much gpu is never a bad thing... So I installed this on my win 7 ult and it worked great. At the time of install I also installed a new evga 850watt psu. I enjoyed that set up with out any major issues or problems. The type of FPS I saw on that set up was: CSGO I would be hard locked at 299 fps (cap was set at 300.) Far cry 5 with 100 avg fps bug-g (pubg for the uninitiated.) 100 to 120 fps... And of course I know my cpu is bottle necking my gpu, but I never looked at any stat other than temps after installing the card. (and the temps never broke 40C.) And I had no problems so I didn't really have the reason to... So Friday 6/1/18 I got my win 10 pro CD/key in the mail and decided Id do the reformat. So before doing the install I prepared a windows 10 bootable usb tool with the microsoft tool. (I don't have a CD/DVD rom) Still on my win 7 ult set up I downloaded the latest bios from MSI. (my mobo brand.) direct from there website and prepared a 2nd usb tool to install thos. I installed the latest bios, no problems. Booted to win 7 ult no probs. Didn't play any games because I wanted to continue and install win 10 pro. So I restart my pc and have it boot from the win 10 usb. I installed windows with out any problem, during the win 10 install I deleted all partitions too and started "fresh." Win 10 pro installed with out issue. One thing to note, is all 3 displays I have worked, and it appeared as if my gtx drivers were still installed. (I found that strange, but just let that be for a bit while I installed other stuff.) So I successfully have a fresh windows 10 pro. First thing I did was partion my 2nd ssd and a 3rd hdd drive. No problems. Then after that was done, I installed the latest chip set for intel (got them from msi web site.) no problems. Then I installed Intels rapid storage tech drive. No probs. Then I installed Intel managment eng driver. No probs. Then I installed realtek for the on board audio. No probs. I did NOT install the intel vga driver, because I don't use onboard display/VGA. When that was done I decided Id restart to safe mode and run ddu and install fresh gpu drivers. (latest drivers. 397.93) since I found it strange that it looked like my drivers carried over. I did NOT install the geforce experience. (I just simply don't want it.) The new 1080ti drivers seemed to install just fine. I went on to download some other apps and install them. I installed steam, then discord, to my 2nd SSD no problems. Then I got into a CSGO server and my fps was 30-40. I was like wtf mate, And got out right away. (I have checked across all my games and the problem is universal.) I did some research and have now tried now 100 different things to get this to work. You name it I've prob tried it... The only "fix" that I have read that I haven't tried is to do with disabling HPET. (I didn't see any logical reason why this would be related to my problem.) I have tried disabled anything to do with xbox. I have max performance set up and vsync is disabled in nvidia panel. Ive set the game and steam as high priority in task mgr. I have tried going to csgo file directory and going into property's of the csgo launch file and checking disable full screen optimization. I have tried going into win10 settings and turning everything off that was a preinstalled app, and in the power options I have it set for high performance... I don't know what else to try or do, I'm now at a loss. I mean everything is off that I could turn off in win 10 settings. Even simple things like the window snapping and storage sense... of course besides the power plan. oh and I have tried right clicking this pc and going to propertys/advanced/performance settings/advanced and choosing programs as the "best performance." I did not change anything to do with the paging size. Any help is much appreciated, I will still proceed with my fresh reformat, but I wanted to post in case the problem persist so I can find a solution quickly. (I imagine it will, since this WAS a fresh install. I deleted all the prior partitions.) I am puzzled as to why its not performing anywhere near its capability. Please help me, I will do what ever you want.

Hello my Friends, today i Overclocked my i7 4790k from stock 4,0 to 4,8GHZ with my H97 Mainboard, the Question is, why it is possible, i just adjust the Mulitplier and it worked. with 4.9 GHz the Cinebench Run will Crash and everything above Windows don't wanna boot. i thought Overclocking Via BLCK is impossible with H Mainboards

It even takes a long time to get into the bios sometimes. This is an asus maximus hero VII and an i7 4790k MRC Fastboot is already enabled. My bios is one update away from the newest. I'll probably update it later, but from what I've read on forums, it seems that doesn't fix it. Not sure where to go from here. My MSI z97 pc mate was really quick to boot so not sure why a much more expensive asus mobo would have this problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it normal for this motherboard?

I can't believe I made this mistake, but I was hasty and ordered the wrong ram. This is the compatibility message I get in pcpartpicker: The Corsair - Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum. Now, I've heard that 1.65 volts actually works fine with most haswell chips and that I can ignore that. Does anyone have experience with an asus maximus vii hero, an i7 4790k and 2400mhz ram at 1.65v and can confirm that? Haswell is apparently not supposed to exceed 1.575 according to pcpartpicker. I'm getting some seriously mixed information on this. If not, I'm guessing I'll have to set the timings and voltage manually. It's going to just automatically reduce the voltage when I start it if it's not compatible right? My hardware is new enough to do that right? I don't want to fry my CPU here just to try it. Anyways, I'm ashamed of this mistake and will not repeat it. Better ask some questions before I make any other stupid mistakes today Any tips or answers to my questions will be appreciated. Hi. I'm starting to notice a slight problem in GTA 5. My GPU usage stays below 70% (mostly at 60-65%) all of the time. GPU doesn't get maxed out. This was okay when I tested it a few weeks ago, but when I decided to start it again, I noticed this problem. Even though the frame rate stays above 60 most of the time (80-100 mostly), at very rare times, it does stutter when a lot is happening on the screen. Frame rate doesn't improve when I lower the resolution. Any ideas as to why this is happening? CPU usage is also perfectly fine.I tried WD2, and R6S and in those titles, gpu was maxed out. Now, yes, I know, I am getting above 60 fps and maybe you'll say I'm being greedy. But still, I'm just curious. Is it my fault or the game's fault? Any suggestions? I also have the latest amd relive 17.11.4 driver installed. But this was also happening before the update. Thanks for any advanced helpMy specs:i7 4790k at stock speed16 GB ddr3 1600 mhz ram.Sapphire Nitro Rx 480 4 GBAntec 500W PSU
