New to LTT forum so I'm gonna wing it. I just copped an old Acer Aspire XC600 from some guy on Carousell. He says it's been working fine for him for the past couple years. Threw in a 128gb SSD and booted it up and it displayed ERROR: NO BOOT DISK DETECTED OR DISK HAS FAILED or something like that. Checked some stuff on Google and said to boot into BIOS by pressing delete when I turn it on. The kb was getting power and so was my PC, so I tried some more stuff like resetting CMOS to try and fix the BIOS or something and it just stopped displaying out after I used the CMOS jumper 3pin something. I get front panel lights and CPU and PSU fan spin, CPU is hot with power and SSD has a red light on it (is that good). I have no idea what happened. Should I just scrap the components inside and save up for a hella budget sleeper pc in the case? Sometimes when I press power button it beeps twice and according to Acer website that means parity circuit error (I have no idea), but when I turn it off and power again it just beeps once (no problem?). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Using the curent motherboard that I have right now, my cpu won't boost no matter what I tried. I have been told that it was a power limit thing. So I've decided to ditch the current motherboard and upgrade to this, an Asrock B75 Pro3-M. But I have no idea how to identify VRMs. So can someone help me and tell me if this motherboard has at least decent thermals and will make my cpu boosts? Here's its official product page, https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B75 Pro3-M/

So I upgraded from an i3-3220 to a i5-3470, checked all compatibility and it is actually a model available as a step up from my model. So I make the change with no issues, it boots and makes it past sign in, and then I try to open steam. I get wsock32.dll errors with steam and many other programs, I try multiple fixes that don't help. I come to the conclusion based off the info I found that it was a corruption of windows itself and have to reset the computer. What do you think the possible issue is?

I will try to make this really short. So I build my pc in 2012, now it has this specs: Actual pc: I5 3470 2x4gb & 2x8gb ram ddr3 Msi Z77A motherboard Gtx 1050 Power supply is 650w i dunno if it is 80+ or something. So my problem is whether I buy a used i5 3570k or i7 3770k and upgrade my gpu or try to build a new pc in the end of 2019, from almost 0. My plan is to try to buy a 3570k, buy a good heat sink and upgrade my gpu and try to oc to be able to stream game at 720p or maybe 1080p. Also I might buy a 144hz monitor, I want to buy it before the upgrade, but I don't know if I will be able to play games with my actual pc. So in conclusion, first Q' is: should I upgrade my i5 3470 to a 3570k or i7 3770k (best ones for my socket) in 2019? Second Q' is: Can I play in a 144hz monitor with my actual pc, games in low settings but with high fps?

I bought used ASUS P8Z77-V-LE PLUS for 40$ to replace my old FOXCON H61MXE-V.I replaced everything, reset bios on Z77,removed the battery and than i installed fresh Windows 10.This Z77 board has the latest bios version installed (O910 3/18/2014). I downloaded the drivers for z77 but i noticed that my download speed was low and going down and down...disabled windows update, installed lan drivers but nothing. I downloaded Speccy and i sow that my CPU/GPU temp were higher than before, especially cpu temp was going up to 50C.In task mennager the average SSD response time was spiking and was going up too 500ms+ but when i did ass benchmark everything was good.Downloaded SSD kingston menager, same problem. Also there were severe stutters in some occasions while i was downloading, opening or installing something, sometimes after restart the pc wont boot or i will just see black screen. In gpuz i could not do benchmark and it was saying that my GTX 960 is running at x8 v1.1/3.0 (sometimes got even to x4) speed but on the old H61 was x16 3.0.RAM speed was increasing for no reason,in speccy one time was saying that was running at 2x804MHz than after restart 860MHz ???? Did memtest but ram was fine, replaced in DIMM 2/4 and the pc wont boot up.I have put it back in DIMM 1/3 than beeping sound, meaning there is no VGA detected.Installed my 2x HDD and black screen at boot. I did new fresh install os Windows 10 but the problems even got worse. Went to bios and i set Pcie from auto to gen 3.0/but there was saying that was x4 again. After applying this change the pc immediately shuts down, power up and again shut down and power but gpuz is showing again x4 3.0.I also set PCI Express x16_3 slot to x4 mode but nothing changed.Uninstalled nvidia drivers with ddu, done that twice but same.Tried to boot with intel hd,than put back my gtx 960...same. In task menager i noticed that cpu speed most of the time was 1.57GHz and than spiking like hell up to 3.4Ghz max.The temperatures were also higher than before +5/10C Got back to my H61,installed everything back,i had some stutters but not like on Z77 mobo and down speed was fine.Tested in Beam NG and Heaven benchmark everything was fine.GPU temperature was rising fast in this tests. Again, installed everything to Z77,(I putted my RAM stick in DIMM1/2 single channel mode)new OS install, thinking that something was badly connected and again, lags, cpu spikes and i could not even open programs because there was some system 32 error, after entering advanced mode-message like this "Windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software etc.... again installed win 10.Service Host:Local system is eating my internet speed, cant do anything. Now i will install again nvidia and other drivers but im afraid that i have damaged the CPU while installation or this mobo was faulty and caused some damage. I noticed some flux on this mobo, asked the guy that i bought form and he told me that everything was fine and that this mobo was not bad,he also told me that he used this for overclocking his I5 3570k and RAM. COMPONENTS: Intel Core i5 3470 3.2GHz/Turbo 3.6GHz Deepcool Gammax 200T CPU cooler RAM: Kingston Hyper X Blue 4GB (1600MHz) combined with Hyper X Black (4GB) 1866MHz --(8GB) FOXCON H61MXE-V NEW USED: ASUS P8Z77-V-LE PLUS ANTEC VP450P-E Real power Kingston SSD UV400 240gb Seagate 500GB HDD Hitachi 500GB HDD I will upload some pictures from HW Monitor later Thx for reading

I just bought a new motherboard along with an i5 3470. It's running fine except for the fact that the clock speed never got above 3.2 ghz which sucks as I would be losing performance and not getting that extra 400 mhz. I've tried using aida 64 stability test to get it over 3.2 but it still never got above it. Any Ideas?

Hello everyone, I really need some help here. I have a feeling that my cpu (i5 3470) is somehow bottlenecking my hd7850. It's really inconsisent because when I play Overwatch the gpu is on full load, and other times I'm just lagging alot and I'm really wondering how this could be, I dont think a i5 3470 should be bottlenecking an old gpu like this. CPU usage is like 95-98% most of the time but overall its pretty slow. Do you smart people on here have any idea what is causing this?

I want to build a computer for my younger brother so we can play video games in LAN/Online and record gameplay and his current setup is CPU: Intel core 2 quad q660 @2.6Ghz RAM:6Gb ddr2 Storage: Intel ssd 320 160gb and 250Gb HDD PSU:500w generic crappy. MOBO: Basic intel desktop board (no O.C. options at all.) GPU: GT640 It is not bad considering he is playing with a 17' inch monitor (not 16:9) with max res of 1280x1024. For the CPU + Mobo + Ram (4GB) I spent $125 **used** but good, the other stuff I already had it so I dont considere it as something I recently spent on. The next setup would be CPU:Intel core i5 3470 @3.2Ghz RAM:8Gb DDR3 Storage: Intel ssd 320 160gb and 250Gb HDD **same PSU:500w generic crappy. **same MOBO: Gigabyte GA-H61 to be honest I don't know which exact model would be GPU: GT640 **same This one would cost me CPU+Mobo+RAM (4Gb because I already have another 4Gb stick) for $ 150 the motherboard it is supposed to be brand new but ram and CPU are used. Basically intended for gaming but not necessarily for high end remember that he would use a 17 inch monitor and he is just 14 years old and he doesnt bother too much for graphics as long as ir runs smoth I have a personal higher end rig since I do bother about everything. the true question here is... does it really worth the change? not necessarily for the $$$.
