So I recently upgraded my cpu from a i3-6100 to a i7-7700k on my B150M-A D3 motherboard. I upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS and bought some DDR3L 1.35V ram (because it’s the only compatible RAM with my cpu and motherboard) so everything should technically be okay. But the problem is that every time I open my computer, my disk goes up to 100% in my task bar (cpu is also really irregular, it can jump from 5% to 45% back and forth) and does this for about 10 minutes but goes down when I’m not doing anything. The other big problem is that when I’m doing something demanding, like playing certain types of video games, my cpu and disk goes up to 100% in my task bar and, for example, my video games will lag super hard while having something like 4-5 FPS which isn’t normal at all because with my old cpu everything was super good. I reinstalled multiple times my GPU drivers and in some games like Overwatch, For Honor, League of Legends everything is going okay. My cpu goes up to 45% while playing those games(which is unusual compared to my old cpu but is still working, I guess). But in other video games it’s really chaotic, like mentioned before. My cpu average temperature is around 40-45 degrees (Celsius). I recently installed my cooler and thermal paste so I don’t think it’s the problem. Also my cpu is running at his normal clock speed(not overclocked) at 4.2 Ghz Last thing, I recently noticed that ,sometimes, my computer turns off and restarts out of nowhere by itself. I ran multiple antivirus and there’s nothing, in this area as well. •What should I do now?? I tried everything that have been said online and nothing changed. Any tips? Which BIOS setting should I apply to make a difference to my current situation ? Do I need to do a new Windows install, will it work if I do it?? And also if I put my old cpu back, is it going to stay like that or will it go back to normal? Specs: I7-7700k Cooler master hyper 212 B150M-A D3 motherboard Gagabyte gtx 1050ti 16GB SP DDR3L 1.35V HDD 1TB (My disk is half way full, like 450 Gb full) EVGA 500w bronze power supply

Hey guys, so i have a bit of an outdated gaming pc (i3-6100 and a geforce 1050ti, 2x 4GB RAM). I dont really know alot about PC's but my fps is way lower than what its supposed to be and it has been like that for a while. I ran malwarebytes and deleted 9 PUP's. But no help there. My gpu usage is 35% in CSGO and about 50% in other games which is quite low. I know csgo is a cpu based game but i see people with the same specs get atleast 180 fps on 1920x1080 while i play with ~120 on a 1280x1024. When i change the settings to high/medium/low there is no.fps difference. Anyone that can help me out ? I changed my nividia power settings to high already, didn't work. (Btw i see some.people with the same GPU get 90% in csgo?)

Hey people I started building my budget gaming PC Last year on a budget of around £400.00. I originally brought the I3-6100, GTX 1050 TI, 550w Ps, 2x4GBDDR3 and a 500GB hard drive. Since then i have acquired a GTX 1070 OC, 16GBDDR3 and a 240gb SSD. Now i have been playing some AAA titles like GTA 5, PUBG even in CSGO and i have noticed some crazy FPS drops. Does anyone have a clue what i need to try and make the Frame Rate stay stable as its so frustrating!!! I feel like a New CPU might be the answer as i think its seriously bottle necking..... Any HELP???

Hey I am not sure where to ask this and I hope I got this right I'd need some info I am currently looking to upgrade my rig (i3-6100 +gtx 1050 2gb + 8gb ram) And I decided to go for a good cpu that'd allow me to stream/render/edit easily Several people kept suggesting i7-7700k My motherboard is compatible (h110m-c) with just a simple bios update Budget: 370€ / 450$ Main question: is the cpu too powerful for the gpu Other Questions are: 1) is it worth the upgrade if i want to stream games 1080p? 2) will it bottleneck(im quite sure everything would bottleneck somehow) but would it be really bad? 3) should I go for it and later on (in few months) upgrade my gpu aswell or get some other cpu now 4) if it will bottleneck, what other good cpu for content creation/streaming do you guys suggest? Thank you for reading/helping and if my questions are dumb is because Im frankly new to this

Not entirely sure this is right area, but hey if it's wrong it can be moved. Basically, currently have gtx 1050 and i3-6100 build with pretty crappy ram. It's an upgraded Dell Inspiron 3650 basically. But I'm getting new parts in the mail, enough to essentially only keep the hard drive and graphics card for new build. At the moment from gameplay and benchmarks, when the ram isn't raining on my parade in games like Player Unknown's, it seems like the cpu is the bottleneck. Yet I'm upgrading to i5-7600k and corsair vengeance lpx 2400 ddr4 8gb ram, and I'm quite sure the bottleneck at that point will usually be the gtx 1050. I'm just wondering by how much I can expect it to be a bottleneck, or if I'm oddly completely wrong.

I'm currently planning my first pc, my GPU is a GTX 1050 ti, which of these CPU would compliment my GPU without bottlenecking it?

So i was bored and i decided to benchmark my CPU because i wanted to see how well it did and while i was benchmarking it, it woudnt go above 60° C and it wasnt thermal throttling. This was a little odd since ive seen videos where with its stock cooler its usually around 80° .. I left it running for 10 minutes before i took the picture so i stopped it thinking it was a bug, started it again and it never went above 60° . Heres my screenshot, Now i probably made myself look like a fool from this but im not the biggest in tech, i started getting into tecnology like 6 months ago and so far i love computers and all these extreme tech stuffs.. I built my own computer around two months ago and its so much better than a laptop. Even if it had almost the same specs as my laptop, it still beats it

I’d like to enquire about if Intel’s i3-6100 (LGA1151) stock cooler could be exchanged for i7-4790K (LGA1150) stock cooler for better cooling performance, and more precisely if they sockets would fit?

My current build is: i3-6100 @3.7 8GB DDR4 2400mhz 240gb SSD 1TB HDD Asus GTX970 Strix OC Gigabyte 1151 socket B150 motherboard Corsair VS550 power supply I feel like I should upgrade the cpu because it might be holding the 970 back in some games and I want to be able to do more with my computer "streaming", I currently game on a 1080p monitor with a target of 60fps. I've been looking at the Ryzen 5 1600 with a B350 motherboard or an i7-7700, also considering an i5-7600 but am not sure what is the best to go with or if I should be looking at upgrading other parts of the pc first.

So i recently got a new computer knowing that my i3-6100 will bottleneck my 1060 6gb gtx graphics card. However im planning on over clocking the speed of my processor, so my 2 questions are; 1. what clock speed would you say is safe for long term (as in i can leave it at that and it will be fine) 2. and what cooler would you recommend me buying to keep it at safe temperatures so my CPU doesn't die on me Im willing to buy a fan cooler up to £40 and maybe a bit more for a liquid cooler even though i have never used liquid coolers. P.S. Also what thermal paste is best to use? Thanks, Jack.

Alright well, it may seem like a really dumb question but do you think it could? I have had an i3-6100 for a while now and I am thinking of upgrading and I don't really want to buy another cooler. I assume that the answer is no....

Ok, so i was benchmarking my build, when i noticed my CPU never got passed 30% usage in MSI afterburner. So i decided to lower the resolution and immediatly 40-50% CPU usage and double the frame rate. My conclusion is the GPU is the weak spot, am I thinking this right? I need a pinch here. Hey there, A month or so ago, I built a gaming PC for my little brother. I went out and bought these parts: GPU: RX480 4GB Gigabyte CPU: i3-6100 RAM: 8GB crucial DDR4 1.2V CL15 (CT8G4DFD8213) MoBo: Asus H110M-D PSU: a no-name 450W HDD: WD blue 1TB We have some really weird issues with this build. I tested Battlefield 1 performance and it was great. All settings Ultra and framerates were close to 60. The thing is that, in every other game that my brother bought or had already, it fails spectacularly to play them. For example GTA V is only playable in low settings, and still it cannot achieve more than 45 fps average. Same thing with Fallout 4. It only runs with lowest setting, and still has its glitches. Same with Wolfenstein old blood. Drivers were installed through amd's official site. Card was also tested with cryptocurrency mining software, and it performed great, with temperatures never exceeding 74C What the heck have I done wrong?

If I go for the G4560 I have the chance to buy a RX470 (currently on sale) which is a great combo for gaming. I play ranging from eSports games (LoL) to AAA/GPU demanding games. This all sounds pretty great but I've read that AVX isn't supported by the 7th Gen Pentiums which apparently plays a big part in rendering. If I went for the i3, I'll have to stick with a GTX 1050, not as good for gaming as the RX470 but it would kind of get the job done (would have to obviously lower the quality a lot). I would be rendering around 5-15 minute videos, but it all depends so max 30minutes. I've also read that AMD GPU's are great for edtiting/rendering due to OpenCL, which is also in Nvidia cards but not as evolved. Is there a big difference? I was waiting for Ryzen but sadly the R3, line of Ryzen that would interest me is only going to be released on the 2H and I've already got half of my parts laying around collecting dust and I don't have the ability to wait for half a year. This build would probably be upgraded in 5-6 years as a whole(GPU,RAM,STORAGE), the CPU in maybe 2 years, after two summers of part-times since I need to start saving up for college. Thanks in advance to whoever answers!

New build. My intentions: Playing mostly eSports titles; Overwatch, R6 Siege, as well as more creative games such as Planet Coaster. My current plans are to get a i5-6400 and get a RX480 later on as my budget is tight. However, the alternative is that I can get a i3-6100 and get the RX480 sooner. However, how much of an issue will the less powerful i3 cause, would it be more beneficial to buy an older Haswell i5? I'm aware the 6100 has hyper-threading and therefore is a "quad core" in theory, but it's all about getting the most bang for the buck on 1150 or 1151. Many thanks.

I am getting a gtx 960 2gb and a i3-6100 budget build. I managed to buy these parts on sale, spending about 350$ CAD on them new or barely out of the box. So now onto the next step into building my FIRST PC WOOHOO. I'm looking for a mid tower but if there any cool mini cases that don't cost too much that would be nice. So anything under 60$ CAD would be cool, but I am willing to squeeze a 70, maybe 80$ case but that makes me cringe. 16 year old budget problems... Do you guys have any suggestions? Oh and a 500w power supply should do fine with the parts I have, right?

Is it still possible to overclock the i3-6100 on some motherboards because i remember that Intel said they were cracking down on motherboard manufacturers and telling them to disable the overclocking on no "k" chips.
