I have been awarded a large grant - over 45k- to put together a VR based lab in my classroom. I plan on using multiple HTV Vives, HP Sprout computers and a 3D printer (Dremmel) among other things. I hope to utilize the Sprout for 3D scanning and helping to build VR environments with unity and plan to use a backpack pc beside a wireless Vive Pro system in the room with 4 lighthouses, I’m also interested in incorporating Microsoft Hololens 2 for an AR component in my program. Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice? How should I best set up my Vives to run smoothly simultaneously? Am I getting the right stuff or should I consider other options? I want it to be an immersive rich innovative experience for my students. And it’ll be fun for me to mess around with as well.

Hey guys, so recently I bought a HTC one m8 from carousell, the ads claims it is brand new unsealed unit so i thought might be some old stocks that they can't sell, but after getting the phone the screen has 2 small scratches and the plastic middle frame near the speaker is chipped, meaning it's refurbished set and opened before by unprofessional people, so i send back and told them to exchange another unit, after they delayed for a week finally got back the phone today and screen has no scratches and the bezel of the frame is better than last unit, but upon closer inspection, i found out the screen are so cheap looking like plastic film not glass, using reflection the screen looks uneven like there's a layer of plastic on the screen and got ripples all over it like a waves when checking it with reflection, it is probably refurbished screen with super low quality screen replacement pushing the screen i can see the screen literally being bent down like a flexible plastic and scratching the edge around the screen there is adhesive coming out, also checking at the main back camera, the camera lens glass are not even, on one side the glass is much deeper and the other side the glass lens are higher, so as a person with ocd and perfectionist who loves to keep his tech toys in mint condition, of course i could not stand it, but i am tired and fed up with the shop owner's misleading ads and keep delaying to replace my unit, I decided that i will either send to shop to replace the screen or i will diy replace it, i just want to ask if there is any experts here that knows where to buy oem one m8 screen and any tips of replacing the screen, i know i can watch tutorial on YouTube to fix but it is better to just collect every info first before i disassemble the phone, also how the camera lens glass are positioned, because i can literally push any side of the glass lens and it will be pushed down and up like so flimsy, it triggers my ocd so bad that the glass lens are uneven depth

Hello! I'm currently having issues where games like Beat Saber would stutter and the headset would frame skip a lot. I'm not sure what's causing it, I tried having everything closed, reinstalling VR, different USB ports, and check for driver updates. Here are my computer specs: OS: Windows 10 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 RAM: 16 GB DDr4-3200 (G.Skill Trident Z) GPU: GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1650 (secondary) Motherboard: Gigabyte X470 AORUS

Hello everyone. I am an instructor and we are setting up a multi-user vr classroom with 16 htc vives. I was wanting to add wireless to them. My question is has anyone seen anyone set that up with more than four people in one room with no dividers. I had an idea to make two circles of 8. The three channels offset from each other. I think it would work but it is too much money to invest without being sure. The biggest concern I think is the rf signals bouncing off of the walls and interfering with their like channels. Any help at all would be appreciated!

I have an HTC U Play that was gifted to me from a friend in another country. Few months after using it, its charger has somehow gone faulty which stopped charging the phone and would not connect to a PC at all. HTC accessories are scarce here in our country because we dont have a proper HTC retailer here. And we dont have services from Amazon. So I had to go on ebay and order a Type C cable which was listed that it supports the HTC U play. it arrived and charges the phone but its extremely slow. Have to keep the phone in charger for almost the entire day to charge from 40% to 100. I get the 'Slow charging use original charger error' when its plugged in. If im buying another cable i think i will still get this error because it probably wont be an HTC cable. Is there a way to get around this error by using the cable i bought from ebay and get the phone to charge in normal speed like in original cable?

Hi All, So basically, I plan to develop an environment for a college project, and want to make it into a VR experience. I've had experience with Google Daydream and such and want to move into the HTC and Oculus world. Which do you think is better? Oculus Rift or HTC Vive? I plan to build the world in Unity. I know its pretty simple to set it up in Unity (cameras and controls), but I'm not 100% sure quality wise which is better? I'm not to crazy about the controllers on the Oculus Rift.. They're kind of weird.. But in any case, has anybody had any experience with either? Which is better? Cheers, Steve

I have an HTC U Play which is around 3 years old now (as i remember) and Im having this touchscreen issue with it where sometimes its taking the inputs from the wrong places of the screen, sometimes it swipes back on forth between pages on its own and sometimes it doesnt take any input at all. The reason I say its strange is because I have never dropped this phone, so I can ensure theres no physical damage atleast. And the issue goes away when I press the power button and unlock it again, sometimes goes away for few hours, sometimes for a couple of minutes and sometimes it doesnt fix at all. Sometimes the phone requires one or more restarts to get the touchscreen to respond properly again. I thought something from the software side was corrupted so I reset the phone and with no apps installed, it still had the issue. I tried updating the phone as well and that didnt help either. I also noticed that the Issue has a greater tendency of happening when trying to use the phone while plugged into the charger. What could be the problem? Is the touchscreen in my phone giving away?

During some rough housing one of the lighthouses in my apartment was knocked to the group and took a pretty hard hit. Initially there were some bugs in tracking but it still worked like 90%. Unfortunately the tracking problem has progressed to the point where standing still my model moves 5 to 15 meters in any given direction. Is there anyway to diagnose the issue to double check if its my lighthouse to blame? More importantly, do I need to drop another $200 on a new lighthouse?

Hello, for the past couple of weeks i have been facing issues in my phone (HTC U Play) when downloading and uploading files. Uploading and downloading in most apps like Whatsapp failed due to some reason. Most of the issues have resolved on its own or either by updating/reinstalling. Whatsapp works ok now after reinstalling. None of this however worked to Instagram. I can upload photos to it, but when i select a video and moves on to the page to type the caption, the app crashes and closes out by giving the error saying "Instagram has suddenly stopped working". i tried uploading the same video from another phone and it works. It would be grateful if you can give any suggestion to fix it. Thanks.

Hellow everyone i am trying to get into vr, and i was wondering should i get teh oculus rift, or the htc vive or vive pro because the regular vive seems to be out of stock everywhere. I am looking for a very good vr experience with games such as beat saber, minecraft, and war thunder being some of the main games i will be playing.

I have been plagued with some minor stuttering and slowness with my HTC 10, and I recently got a program to help monitor system resources. What I found was that my RAM usage never went above about 2GB. The HTC 10 has 4GB of ram, and now my phone has been crashing and I can't even type sometimes because it lags and doesn't input keystrokes. I have also suffered from a pretty short battery life, needing a couple charges throughout the day to stay afloat if I'm using it moderately.

I'm just trying to sync my music library, but Windows won't register that my phone is connected. The phone charges though. Any idea what I should do?

I have a old HTC that runs on Android 4 (lollypop?). I have installed laptop OS's before, but haven't done the exact same with a phone. I am planing to manually delete all system files from the phone, and then install a custom Android 7 (nougat) OS. My question is, is this safe, I would rather not rely on Kali Linux or Ubuntu as a fail safe.

Hello yall! I currently have a HTC One M8. Its getting very old now, but I'm not really aware of what phone is out there. I'm so in love with the quality of the screen (you can't see the pixels, colors are so vivid, never seen a screen comparable), its sturdiness, its perfect weight, its size, its stainless back, etc. But especially the screen and its for that reason I haven't changed yet. My bf has the new Pixel 2, and its nothing like the M8 imo. Its too lightweight and for some reason I can't keep it in my hand lol, i'm having a hard time having a good grip... Anyway, the M8 has served me very well many years, but its time to change. Its getting laggy, camera/light sensor is broken... I paid 250$ used for it and I'd like to find an other deal like this. I'm not willing to go with iPhone. I've seen the new iPhone X, its screen is amazing, but paying over 1k$ makes no sense to me. Is it me or HTC is not sold anywhere now? I can't recall having seen a HTC in a phone booth for a while. My brother had an M8 and thats why I felt in love with it. Sorry for my bad english.. TLDR: Looking for HTC One M8 replacement. Must have same or better screen/sound quality and sturdiness. Not necessarily looking for the most powerful phone, but I'd like it to last me an other 4 years. Want it to be a good overall phone. I'm not very aware of what is out there. Also not looking to pay more than 500$. Very willing to buy used. Won't pay phone monthly. I'm in Quebec, Canada. Thank you

Hi, first of all, i didnt know where to post this, so if i'm in the wrong category im sorry. But now to my question. I am going to buy a htc vive next month and just thought about it using a hdmi cable. As my Graphics Card (EVGA 980TI Superclocked 2.0) only has 1 hdmi, 1 dvi and 3 times displayport, i dont know how to connect my vive to my computer. I have 2 Monitors, The first one is connected with hdmi, the second one with dvi. (none of them has dp) So now i have some kind of a problem. I dont know how i am supposed to use the vive without a free hdmi port. And i dont think it's a good idea to plug in, plug out all the time. And now to my actual question. Would it be a problem (perfomance) if i just bought an hdmi-displayport adapter and use it that way, or would that decrease performance of the vive, or anything else?

Can i connect Asus Fusion 500 headset to my smartphone using an otg cable (only asking because i am planning to buy it for playing games but it would be nice if i could connect it to my phone). I currently have a HTC Desire 650 but i am planning to buy the HTC U12+ when it comes out some time this summer.

My HTC m8s phone's frame is slightly bent and it is really scratched. I am looking for an aluminum frame (housing, body or battery cover, whatever you want to call it), and i was wondering if i could use the HTC M8 frame on it. Are there any differences in sizes, i looked at a spec comparison and they have exactly the same screen, but there is like a 0.1% screen to body ratio difference. Thanks

Good evening Since no one helped me over at Tom's Hardware, I'm gonna try my luck here. A couple of weeks ago, my Lenovo A536 got stuck in boot loop and then got into recovery mode, which I haven't been able to leave, and my attempts to flash the OS only bricked it completely. I've been looking for a new phone since then. I don't want another low-end device, so I'll increase my budget. After many hours spent on comparing various devices, reading reviews and going through benchmarks, I was decided to buy the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which by their words should be available in my country by the next month. However, yesterday I've stumbled upon HTC U Ultra. According to what I've read, it's an unsuccessful flagship from the last year. It scored about 170K points in AnTuTu, 50K more than RN5 with its 120K. At about 8000 Czk (400$) in a reputable store, it is slightly more expensive than RN5, which when launched should be available from 6500 Czk (325$). I can't decide which one to buy. There are a couple of things I'm concerned about in case of the U Ultra. I have BT headphones, which support connection through 3,5mm connector in case I ran out of battery, so while I'm not happy about the connector's absence, I can get over it. What I'm more concerned about is the battery life. I don't expect the quad-core SD 821 to be very power efficient, so I don't know if the 3000 mAh battery will be sufficient, especially after some time. Another thing is OS updates. One of the things I like about Xiaomi is their support even for older devices. According to an article that I've read a few days ago, they're still updating phones up to 6 years old. On the other hand, almost every time I see a post by Huawei on Facebook, someone is complaining that once they release a new generation of smartphones, they almost immediately stop updating the previous one, and for example, the A536 I had before only received two small updates over the two and a half year I had it, so I don't know if I can trust HTC in this case. As for the rear camera, I found a few photos taken with both devices, and I think I like the pictures shot by RN5 a little bit more. I honestly don't care about the front one. Which one do you think I should buy? 400$ is a little bit more than I first intended to pay, so if you think the U Ultra is not that much better for the extra money, I'd rather go for Redmi Note 5. Thank you for all advice. PS: Feel free to unleash the full power of your inner grammar nazis upon me. I'd like to improve my English, so if I made any serious mistakes, feel free to smash them over my head.
