Just saw this news: http://hexus.net/tech/news/peripherals/109202-htc-vive-gets-substantial-price-cut-799-599-599/ So tempting. I've been wanting a Vive for a while but I'm finding it hard to justify the price - especially having never used one. A couple of weeks ago, I used a PSVR at a friend's house and it was awesome, re-igniting my desire to buy a Vive. Now I'm twitching over the buy button... What does everyone think? Take the plunge or wait for the next version (which could be soon)?

My HTC Vive controller refuses to properly connect to my computer. The LED glows blue but after multiple repairings, it turns green and shows up on the SteamVR interface. Once it turns green SteamVR tells me that it cannot detect the controller. No matter where I move the controller it is not detected. I believed the cause was a hardware fault as the controller has hit the wall once before and I have seen that the ribbon cable can easily detach. After opening the controller and attempting to fix the issue I found that the ribbon cable was still connected and that nothing was out of place inside the controller. But it still refuses to connect and only shows a blue LED light. Thanks in advance.

Guys, Please tell which phone should I buy for normal use for a little bit for gaming and for normal use I told you before mainly I want an easy carry phone which not so big and so small please give your suggestions

HTC's U11 was one of the better Android handsets launched earlier this year. Hey ppl, I just found that cool looking tech page of the company Tobii, wich are famous for their eye tracking devices, on wich they paired a HTC VIve with their eye tracking technology. This add-in was already discussed in the news section, but now it's launching and there is a brief review published. I'm not really into VR - I tried Vive for a couple of hours in a local VR arena and I have to say, that the cable is really annoying and the screen resolution is too low for my taste. It looks like that in this headset generation at least one of my concerns might get solved. The Tom's hardware article is unclear on launch dates, but it appears that this add-in is launching in the US on 25th September (Microsoft Store). Price is 299$, but that product page has no useful info other than the release date (after adding it to the cart). I would like to add that my local reseller in Slovakia - Alza.sk/Alzashop.com (Alzashop is their effort to go international) - has it listed for preorder for 447€. Expected shipping date is 21st September. All kinds of useful info can be found in this article at Tom's hardware. What is more useful is a brief review posted on a website uploadvr.com. The things that matter, of course, are the picture quality and latency: This is a good sign. The lack of A/B testing worries me a bit, but if the latency was terrible, they would notice. For more info, visit the article. And one interesting tidbit for the end of the post. The F.A.Q. section reveals that the battery supports hot-plugging: So, what do you think? I think that it's great to see some progress, but we'll need to wait for more thorough reviews and see how well it performs and what the final price will be. For now, even 299$ is too much when you add it to the cost of the PC and headset. This is also an opportunity for @Slick to appear in front of the camera. I think that this is a good review material. Hey guys! i want to get a new phn right now..or within the next month...my budget is around $480 or just touching 30,000 INR...My top priorities are batter life ( above 3300Mah : Moderate gaming and advanced multi tasking on Simulations and projects creation) , screen 5.5" ( no need QHD) RAM 3-4( doesnt matter much) ,, efficient processor cuz i will do multitasking and a decent camera..i would take expandable sd card option!!

so HTC U11 has been getting lots of heat for having ads on the keyboard, no headphone jack, gimmicky squeeze feature so their plan is to make shills to defend HTC, this is still going on "There are many arguments one could make to discredit or devalue HTC’s new product, from its hardware decisions to its gimmicky “squeezing” features — and HTC knows this, so it found a way to at least combat it on online boards, comments sections and other social battlefields. Oculus Rift? HTC Vive? This is not a post where I am trying to get advice for something I will never get, I have the money, I just want to know if I am making the right decision. I am interested in getting an Oculus Rift because there is a really good deal* at the moment for it and the touch controllers in a bundle for £399 (also $399 USD). So Oculus / Vive owners; Also I have read about the screen door effect** is it a huge massive issue? Or do only some people notice it? Is it worth it to invest into virtual reality, is the resolution of the headset worth it? Do you have any issues with your particular headset? Are they good products?... Were they worth the money?... Would you recommend?... Please comment and be honest, and even if you do criticize your particular headset, is it still worth getting? what happened? There are a few places where advertising is acceptable. Your phone's keyboard is definitely not one of them. The TouchPal keyboard, which HTC ships as the default system keyboard on many of its phones, has been updated to display ads. The fault lies in a recent update to 'TouchPal Keyboard for HTC,' also referred to as 'TouchPal Sense Edition,' which HTC has included as the default keyboard on a wide variety of phones. It's even bundled on the company's latest flagships, including the HTC 10 and U11. Understandably, people are not happy at all about ads on their keyboard. for a flagship this is unacceptable HTC's response to all of this both company are at fault -Judging from HTC's response, it seems likely that TouchPal added advertisements to the keyboard without HTC's knowledge/approval. The app listing in question is published by TouchPad, after all. HTC has announced its new subscription based VR service at CES today. It seems to be kind of like netflix for VR games, with the added bonus of social media interaction and personalization. https://blog.vive.com/us/2016/08/05/introducing-viveport/ With it comes a new website that allows you to sign up for a free trial when it becomes publicly available. I have a HTC vive running on a gtx 1080, I like VR alot but I have a question. I have some non Vr games like amnesia or outlast I was hopeing to play on vr but I dont know how to do it. I dont want to spend 40$ on vopx or whatever its called and there is another software but I a having huge probelms trying to set it up.. Please help me lol

Today at CES, HTC showed off their new replacement strap for the HTC Vive. The new strap, called the "Deluxe Audio Strap," seemingly mimics the (imo) superior Oculus Rift strap and also provides built-in audio. It has an adjustable dial in the back to fine tune the fitting. The lack of proper built-in audio at launch was the reason behind a lot of the Vive's criticism. No price has been announced yet, but it will be available in the second quarter of this year. In addition to the new strap, HTC has also unveiled the new Vive Tracker. The Vive Tracker is an accessory that can be attached to any real world object to be tracked in virtual space. This allows for 3rd party objects to easily be added in the game. For example, a tennis racket or a gun model. As a VR developer myself, this is incredibly exciting news. We get a more comfortable device and open the door to many accessories. I've already reached out to Valve for a dev kit, so follow me if you'd like to see an unboxing and review in the near future. I recently got a HTC VIVE setup 50 FT away from my computer. By doing this I have created a mess of cables. The cables are 2 HDMI Cables (one for vive and one for monitor) and an Ethernet cable which is used for the USB. Can I but the cables under a rug? How could I better organize my cables?

Is it a bad idea to hide cables under a rug? If it is a bad idea, should I put Gaffer tape on the cables then put the rug on top of everything? The cables are 2 50 FT HDMI Cables and one HDMI Cables. So i was wondering is it is possible to use Second Life with Vive. I know that Oculus was working with Second Life to make it work together. But never really seen anybody do it or heard anybody has actually done it. I would love to be able to "walking" threw my own buildings, build while experiencing the scale of what i am building and fight in raids on other sims. It is time for me to get a PC again and thinking of getting also a Vive to use for Second Life so i wanted to know this: Does anybody who has a vive ever experimented with it? How was the experience? How is the operation of the controles? Was building easy or just a hassle? What made it worth it or what didn't make it worth it?

So I'm in the market for a new phone in the £200/$250 region (happy with HQ second hand or new condition) and have since narrowed my search down to two phones: The HTC One M9 And the LG G4. The LG G4 is a better speced phone, from what my research has uncovered, as well as having a better, bigger screen and a far superior camera from some shoot outs I saw. But the HTC is a more sexy phone, I think, with a really nice design and better front facing speakers, as well as being a slightly smaller phone which is a bonus for me. I can't decide and want to hear anyone who reads this's opinion on the matter, or if I've missed an obviously better phone at this mark, which is well possible as this is my first android buy, coming from Apple. According to Gfk's consumer survey the Playstation VR is set to outsell both the Vive and Rift combined, in the UK. Source: MCV This is great news for VR, and great news for sony. I think the way they managed to integrate more social features and even games where people can play on the screen against somebody wearing the headset really came through and helped them here. I'd be interested to see how psvr stacks up against the other headsets in other markets. I would imagine the picture is broadly the same as the uk.

I have to choose between a Samsung galaxy a7 (2015) and Htc One M8(16 GB). I'm a normal kid, happen to do everyday normal stuff like gaming,chatting etc. I don't edit an videos on my phone or do any large processing power consuming act. 16 Gb internal storage + 16 Gb SD card works just fine with me. I'm more leaning towards a larger screen size but really does not really matter at the end of the day. Really appreciate this awesome community's feedback

For people spectating, could I use the mirror audio feature to have audio coming from my TV? It is important to note that the TV is connected to the PC, but not the speaker. Could I still setup the mirror audio feature.

Mods so that you can play in VR count as well. And If you have any recommendations for payed VR games that would be nice as well. Thx for the help
