So i have decided to get a new phone, specifically a phablet. I am currently using a moto g (1st gen) and am really starting to dislike the small 4.5" screen. After using a friends Galaxy note 3 i absolutely loved the large screen and have hence decided to get something a little bit bigger. I will need to buy my phone unlocked and off contract as I currently h=hav a phone plan (sim only though). My budget is around $400 AUD. The two phones I have been looking at the HTC One Max ($450) and the sony Xperia Z ultra ($400). I am leaning towards the One because of the front facing speakers and aluminium constriction, and I think the 6.4" Z ultra might be bit to big for me. So can anyone help me choose, or suggest alternative devices?
-
I currently have a 5s. Ive had it for about 6 months or so and it is absolutely awful. I highly dislike IOS 8 and am highly considering buying out of the contract to get the M8, does anybody have a One/had a 5s, if so which do you like better? Also sorry for not searching around, just frustrated and need new opinions.

Having trouble getting CyanogenMod on my HTC One M7...
Vitalius posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hi guys, I bought a used HTC One M7 off a fellow forum member. He sent it to me with Cyanogen Mod installed. However, for varying reasons, I had to flash the vanilla AT&T ROM onto it. Now, when I try reinstalling CM, it fails. It shows a red triangle with a phone coming out of it when I try installing TWRP/SuperSU Installer after the first reboot. This is where I'm stuck as I'm not sure how else to install CM. When I boot to it's Bootloader, this is what I see: I know for a fact that it had CM on it before, so I assume it's rooted. Not sure what TAMPERED or UNLOCKED means. I've tried googling this issue (where the red triangle comes up), but haven't found anything specific to help. Apparently something green is supposed to come up that basically says it's working. Any help is appreciated. -
So I had an HTC one M7 and it's now Dead. Don't have a huge budget right now and was wondering if the older Chip of the one x + would affect the performances a lot. It's the 64 gb model and I know my way around Rooting and custom roms. Just checking With the Awesome LTT comunity Before buying. Thanks for the help.

So I ordered a Mahogany vinyl skin for my HTC One M8 off Dbrand. Having heard of people putting funny requests in their order details, I thought I would give it a go with the following: I think it might be worth adding that shipping took quite some time, 20 days actually. However this is kind of expected as I live in rural Australia and Dbrand is in Toronto. Anyways, the skin turned up today: I know it isn't much, but it humored me. Thought I would share. Now I gotta wait until the weekend to put it on, due to a certain lack of hairdryer. Fisha [spoiler=BONUS CONTENT: MFW this is my 100th post, and first thread] UPDATE: So I just installed the skin, came out pretty good I think: ^Don't mind my mechanics fingernails... The video on the Dbrand website made installing this a breeze, it is excellent. I got it a little bit misaligned, but not enough to bother me. I will however recommend if you are getting a HTC One M8 skin to get the HTC cutout in the back. Without the cutout to line the skin up it was quite difficult to get it straight initially. The quality is topnotch, with an actual wood grain texture stamped into the vinyl, Lovely. Will be getting one of these on all my phones from now on. Fisha

Hi guys... I'm running out of ideas, again. I've been trying to get the S-Off on my m8, but nothing works. I've tried so far: - Firewater say the good old "whelp, this sucks, firewater can not work on your device" - revone ~$ adb shellCOLUMNS=132;LINES=64;export COLUMNS LINES;shell@m8:/ $ suCOLUMNS=132;LINES=64;export COLUMNS LINES;root@m8:/ # cd /data/local/tmproot@m8:/data/local/tmp # chmod 755 revoneroot@m8:/data/local/tmp # ./revone -Prevone v0.2.1revone failed (error code = 1) and I refuse to pay 25 bucks to some random dude on the internet so sunshine is out of the question dev stats asf: one m8 running cm 11, rooted, and the HBOOT ver. is 3.16 (is it posible to downgrade HBOOT?) s-on(obviously) I'm about to call it quits... thanks anyway.

Hi, I am currently in my second year of university in Ghent, Belgium and there are these programs for studying abroad for one or two semesters. For the ones outside of Europe we need to give a top 3 and a motivation for the first choice. My choices currently are: -Taiwan (National Sun Yat-Sen University) -USA (University of Illinois, Chicago) -USA (Baruch College - City University of New York) Since the USA ones are usually the most popular ones, I'm thinking about putting Taiwan as my first choice. But I don't really know that much about Taiwan outside of HTC (i'm a huge fan) being there, so I am wondering if it is worth studying there for (half) a year... So I have some questions: What language do they speak there? (I am fluent in English, Dutch, German and French, do I need to start learning Taiwanese?) How modern is the country? (high speed internet? everyone having 4g and stuff like that?) Are the people cool/nice/friendly? How different is it to normal EU countries? (I have visited most european countries but i have never left the EU)? How is studying there? Any important things I need to know about the country/ about living there? Please feel free to answer any of my questions, even if you aren't from Taiwan Thanks in advance guys!

My birthday is approaching and I've decided to get a new phone. Right now my top 2 contenders are the HTC One M8 and the LG G3; my dad has the M8 and loves it, but after a bunch of research I've started to lean towards the G3 more now. What are your guys' opinions on the two phones? PS: I know the One Plus One exists and the S5 as well, but for my tastes the two mentioned earlier fit my taste more, plus the One Plus One is hard to get from what I know.

Besides the M8 Eye( http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/226700-unannounced-htc-one-m8-eye-passes-through-tenaa/ ), the phone leaker @upleaks revealed in his twitter that there maybe another phone in the Eye series, the Desire Eye. Different from the M8 Eye, this phone is probably not a flagship device, and not made of metal, as this is a Desire series phone, not a One series phone. But according to @upleaks's tweet, this phone has high-end spec, "HTC Desire Eye(a.k.a EYE); S801 2.3GHz*4, 5.2" FHD, 13MP/13MP, 2GB/32GB, 2400mAh removable, Sense 6 for EYE, IPX7". Again, there are not much information about the 13MP camera modules in this rumored phone. And from the photos @upleaks revealed, this phone has the same design language as the Desire 820, clean design with smooth color edges, and flash for front facing camera is spotted, while the boomsound speakers and duo camera system seems to be missing on this phone. @upleaks also hinted that M8, B2 (Butterfly 2) will have selfie-specialized functions before Android L update, while M8 Ace (E8), M8 Mini, A5 (Desire 816), M7 (HTC One 2013), M4 (One Mini) and T6 (One Max) will have those functions with Android L update. So if this phone and the M8 Eye is real, which one will you choose? M8 Eye, or Desire Eye? http://pocketnow.com/2014/10/03/htc-eye @https://twitter.com/upleaks/status/517967436633485313 https://twitter.com/upleaks/status/517976674105704448 https://twitter.com/upleaks/status/517975395707023361

There are rumors about the unannounced HTC M8 Eye for a while ,but they are just rumors, nothing is concrete. But now this phone has just appeared on TENAA's website , a telecommunications equipment certification center in China, and revealed some of its specs. According to the photos and information on TENAA's website, the model number is HTC M8Ew. (The “w” moniker likely stands for its compatibility with China’s WCDMA networks.) The M8 Eye looks exactly like the original M8 , a quad-core 2.3 GHz processor with Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2 GB of RAM,16GB of storage,5-inches 1080p display, Duo Camera system, BoomSound speakers etc. Interestingly this phone has various color option: gold, grey, silver, blue, red and orange. Another difference is the 4MP Ultrapixel camera is replaced with a 13MP camera, but it is unclear if the camera is a new one, or the one on the HTC E8, Desire 816, or One Mini 2, with a focal length of f2.2, or the one on the Butterfly 2, with a f2.0 focal length. Interesting, VR-Zone Chinese reported that this M8 Eye is rumored not to have NFC. HTC One (M8) Eye, running Android KitKat 4.4.4, is expected to debut next week, on October 8, alongside with the HTC RECamera. Yesterday HTC announced their new Desire Eye and Re Camera ( http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/229829-htc-announces-a-selfie-phone-and-an-action-camera/) on their Double Exposure Event at New York. But where is the rumored M8 Eye? HTC didn't announced it in their Double Exposure event, but it silently showed up on HTC China's website. The M8 Eye is very similar to the original M8, in terms of hardware. The 2 differences is replacing the 4MP Ultrapixel camera with a 13MP F2.0 camera, and adding supports of multiple LTE bands. Since the focal length of the new camera module is 2.0, I GUESS it is the same camera module on the Butterfly 2. And since it is in the Eye series, the "Eye Experience" special effect featured on the Desire Eye is also available on this M8 Eye, like the new face-tracking technique for video conference calls, or the mode that merge your face with another person's face to create a mutant selfie. The M8 Eye is priced at RMB $3999, or around HK$5,050, or $652, but there are no information of when will it be available in China or world wide. Specs of M8 Eye Listed on HTC China's Website: (in Chinese) http://www.htc.com/cn/smartphones/htc-one-m8-eye/ (in Chinese) http://chinese.engadget.com/2014/10/09/htc-one-m8-eye-official/ (in Chinese) *update: Androidandme.com reported that the One (M8 Eye) will go on sale beginning Wednesday, October 15, in China. http://androidandme.com/2014/10/news/htc-one-m8-eye-shows-up-on-htc-chinas-online-shop-teases-13mp-duo-camera-setup/?utm_source=feedly&utm_reader=feedly&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=htc-one-m8-eye-shows-up-on-htc-chinas-online-shop-teases-13mp-duo-camera-setup *Nextpowerup.com confirmed that the new 13MP camera is the Sony IMX214, same as the one on the Butterfly 2 . http://www.nextpowerup.com/news/14291/htc-one-m8-eye-available-in-china.html

Last week HTC revealed their new Eye series phones last week, the M8 Eye and Desire Eye. So what would be the next phone in the Eye series? According to the latest leaked documents, it could be the One (E8 Eye). According to GSMAreana, import documents from India were leaked, which a phone from HTC called "HTC One (E8 Eye)" was listed. The leaked documents showed there are several hundred units of E8 Eye being imported into India, and the phone is priced at INR 27,275 (about $445). The One (E8) is priced at INR 27,275 (about $445) in India. Besides NFC (listed as dropped on the pic above), there is still not much info about the spec of this E8 Eye. Since the phone is in the Eye series, we can safely assume that the Eye experience featured in Desire Eye and M8 Eye will be available on this phone. But since the Eye Experience will eventually come to the original E8 via update, personally I don't understand why HTC need to release this E8 Eye. http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_e8_eye_leaks_via_import_documents-news-9895.php

Hello everyone, I bought an htc one m8 on the verizon edge plan (so paying full price for the phone over the duration of my contract) a few months ago. I took a train ride yesterday and had the device in my front pocket of a tighter than usual pair of jeans. I pulled the device out after arriving at my destination to take pictures and discovered that the glass over the rear facing camera was cracked. I went to the best buy where I bought it and they said to go through htc. Htc said that they do not cover this common flaw under warranty and want me to send it in so that they can give me an estimate for the repair price. At this point, I don't know what to do. I use my phone a lot and can not send it in without having a replacement (I don't have any other verizon compatible phones lying around). I also don't have much money for the repair being a college student and I am still paying verizon for the phone every month which will total nearly $700 by the end of the contract. What would you suggest? I know Linus had this issue and tried going through the support as a normal customer. Does he have a thread on this somewhere and I missed it? Thanks in advance

Hey Guys, I don't want any suggestions or something, I was just wondering what is most popular in the LTT community. Greetings

Hi everyone, I am in need of a new phone since my HTC Sensation is showing its age now. I have some specific requirements that just don't seem to be fulfilled by any phone that I have found. I need: 1) screen of 5 inches or less (maybe 5.2") 2) decent processor (snapdragon 800 or higher preferably) 3) wireless charging and NFC 4) decent battery life 5) decent camera 6) dual front facing speakers 7) at least 32gb of storage or microSD slot 8) Android (but no Samsungs) I have only found the Sony Xperia Z3 that ticks all these boxes, but that's still a bit of a compromise in the size department seeing as I don't want a large phone. The Z3 compact would have been perfect if it had wireless charging or at least had a case that adapted it to wireless charging like its big brother, the Z3. (Maybe there would be third party cases to add this functionality?) The only areas I am willing to compromise in are size and the speakers. Thanks!

I have an HTC One M7 that is currently running CyanogenMod. I would like to revert it back to stock with sense and all and for that I need an RUU. My carrier is Vodafone and I am in the UK and I have not been able to find an RUU for this specific carrier. I have looked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276 and I could not see any RUUs there for my device, only OTAs which are the wrong thing I am pretty sure. I have looked for a while for one and cannot seem to find one anywhere. I was wondering if anyone here knew where I could get he correct RUU for my device?

First off sorry if this was meant to go in the phone section. My missus has a HTC One X and recently the screen just went black the phone itself still rings but can't answer the phone because the black screen, I can send it in for repairs but they are going to flash the phone but she doesn't have a back up of anything and there is no SD card it's all saved on the phone memory, so because of the black screen I can't unlock the phone to connect it to the PC because it's not recognized and I can't put it into developer mode to push/pull the data off using ADB. Does anyone know of any way I can the data from the phone?

Does anyone know the date (if there is one) for the HTC One M9 or if it's even coming out? I'm planning on getting it when it comes out as I've heard a lot of good stuff about the M8 model. Thanks in advance for any response .
