Is it a bad idea to hide cables under a rug? If it is a bad idea, should I put Gaffer tape on the cables then put the rug on top of everything? The cables are 2 50 FT HDMI Cables and one HDMI Cables. If your curious how I got the HTC Vive 50 FT away, I used these parts:https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4knypp/ive_been_using_this_50_extension_to_vive_in_my

So i was wondering is it is possible to use Second Life with Vive. I know that Oculus was working with Second Life to make it work together. But never really seen anybody do it or heard anybody has actually done it. I would love to be able to "walking" threw my own buildings, build while experiencing the scale of what i am building and fight in raids on other sims. It is time for me to get a PC again and thinking of getting also a Vive to use for Second Life so i wanted to know this: Does anybody who has a vive ever experimented with it? How was the experience? How is the operation of the controles? Was building easy or just a hassle? What made it worth it or what didn't make it worth it?

Rumor has it, HTC might reveal their HTC Vive 2 at CES. The new vive will connect via wireless, a refresh rate of 120Hz vs 90Hz on the current model, and two 4k displays. CES will be held on January 5-8 http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20161228PD202.html

Hi all, I am having problems launching the virtual desktop application in steam for my HTC Vive. Every time that I try, it just throws the following error "The invocation of the construct on type 'VirtualDesktop.Engine.DynamicSettings' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception" (see picture). When I try to report the error to the developer it fails to do so. I have searched online for a solution but have been unable to find anything. Has anyone else had this problem and know of a way to fix it?

Building a new rig to replace my Metabox (Clevo) gaming laptop from 2011. I started off working on specs to run the HTC Vive nicely and keep me gaming at max settings on regular games for a good number of years to come. Then I got attracted to all the glowy lighting options and glass sided cases and ended up throwing an extra AUD$500 into making it look pretty. Parts were delivered yesterday, but I wasn't home to receive them, so I'm picking them up from the post office today. Won't have time to start building it until Sunday anyway though. Until then, I'm still trying to decide on fan and radiator configuration and placement within that case, so if anyone has advice on that aspect, feel free to jump in. Case comes with two 140mm fans (1 in front and 1 in back). Cooler comes with two 140mm fans for the radiator. Thinking of installing them on top of the radiator to pull air up through it and out the top of the case, but I'm open to having the radiator in the front instead if I need to for space or aesthetic reasons. Mobo and GPU both have ASUS Aura RGB lighting, so I was thinking I'd put the three 120mm Corsair RGB fans in the front of the case to give an even spread of lighting, or alternatively, put one of them at the back and only one or two of them at the front. I wonder if I can fit two 120mm and one 140mm fan into the front?

If you're wearing the Vive and looking straight forward, can you see black bars at the edge of your vision? if not when do the black bars appear, if at all?

I have been awarded a large grant - over 45k- to put together a VR based lab in my classroom. I plan on using multiple HTV Vives, HP Sprout computers and a 3D printer (Dremmel) among other things. I hope to utilize the Sprout for 3D scanning and helping to build VR environments with unity. Would it be wise to buy a backpack pc? What other PC's would you recommend I use - would want it to have good power and last a few years. I’m also interested in incorporating Microsoft Hololens 2 for an AR component in my program. Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice? How should I best set up my Vives to run smoothly simultaneously? Am I getting the right stuff or should I consider other options? I want it to be an immersive rich innovative experience for my students. And it’ll be fun for me to mess around with as well.

I recently purchased the Sennheiser GSP 300's which btw fit amazingly and sound great with a decent mic and I want to use this headset with my HTC Vive for its better microphone and audio than the normal vive mic and earphones however the 3.5mm jack connector on the vive is headphones only not mic and headphones so the only other solution I can think of is buying a USB type A (which the vive has 1 spare of) to headphone and microphone ports, does anyone know of any good converters or any other suggestions that could help. Thanks

I know it's just another post about which VR setup I should get, but I hope I can get some decent advice from you guys. I've been saving up for a while to get a VR system, and as of now, I don't know which setup to go to. I've read pros and cons of both systems, but nothing really seems to stand out to sway my decision. I'm all about the "active" game where you have to get up and move around a bit (I will be playing beat saber a lot as well), and my setup space is good for it. I've read that the Rift has tracking that's just as good as the Vive's when you have a 3rd, or even 4th sensor, although 4 seems unnecessary. Currently in my pc I have an 8700k and a 1070 8gb so I'm not worried about that aspect of it either. Would it be worth the savings to get a rift with a 3rd sensor, or should I pony up the extra cash for the vive? What kind of setup does the vive have for audio if you don't get the duluxe audio strap... I'm particular to the vive, mainly becasue that's what I've used in the past, and I fell in love with the experience, but I am open to the Rift if it's just as good...

I'm looking for a good storage/travel bag or case for the HTC VIVE. I'd like it in foam inserts. That also helps keep dust out. Looking everywhere. Need advice. Prefer supplier in the UK or Europe if possible.

There is finally a GTA mod that's worth playing where the screen isn't warped looking because of vorpx. I also figured out how to increase the resolution (the tray tool doesn't work). EDIT: Most of the steps in this guide are no longer relevant since the last update to the mod. Just follow the steps Luke Ross gives in the link below. I'll leave my steps up just to keep the information up about how to mess around with the settings file. Might be useful to someone. Mod download link: https://github.com/LukeRoss00/gta5-real-mod Here are the steps I used to get it running smoothly and to increase the resolution a bit: Step 1: Start game, go to settings. Step 2: Under gamepad tab, change Targeting Mode to free aim. Step 3: Under Camera, set the Independent Camera Mode to OFF. Step 4: Under Camera, set First Person Vehicle Hood to OFF. Step 4: Under Camera, set First Person Third Person Cover to ON. Step 5: Save settings and shut down game. Step 6: Copy contents of zip file to GTA V steam folder. Step 7: Go to Documents, Rockstar Games, GTA V and make a backup of settings.xml Step 8: Copy the settings.xml file from D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\Settings\High to the GTA V folder in Documents and overwrite the file. Step 9: Open the settings file with Notepad, find the line that controls the refresh rate and set it to 90. Step 11: Save the file and open the game again. Step 12: Go to the in-game settings, change Vsync to off then save & exit the game again. Step 13: Open your Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3d Settings, click on the drop down menu next to DSR and check all of the boxes. Leave the DSR smoothness at 33%. Step 14: In the settings file, set the resolution to 2560 x 1440 Step 15: Save the file and open the game again. Load the story mode and make sure that the frame rate is 90 fps with the Oculus Tray Tool. *You can increase the pixel density a little more by first unticking read only in the settings file again with the game open, going into the advanced settings in the game, and increasing the frame scaling mode. Set the file to read only again when you're done and make sure that the refresh rate didn't get set back to 60 again. If the game crashes whenever you open your desktop: .Go to documents\rockstar games\gta v .Right click the settings file, untick read only if you need to and click apply. .Open the file in notepad, change windowed value to 1. .Change PauseOnFocusLoss value to 0. .Save the file. .Right click it and change it to read only again. (You might also need to make sure your resolution setting in windows is bigger than the resolution the game is running at.) And that's it. I've been playing this all weekend and I hated all of the GTA V mods that came before this. It's finally playable so if you've tried older mods, don't dismiss this one.

I recently purchased a HTC vive an I am planning on mounting the base stations to my walls which are plasterboard (drywall). The provided mounting screws seem quite long and are too long to use with the plasterboard (drywall) anchor shown below. They don't seem too heavy just was wondering if anyone has mounted them to plasterboard (drywall) and if they had any success?

So the htc vive lists some minimum specs, which i have or beat. the question is if my hardware can reliably run the vive at a usable fps and performance? I am new to VR so i dont really know much about it, other than people claiming i need a ridiculous PC to run it. I have a i7 6700k, RX 480 8GB, 16GB ram, sata SSD Thoughts?

I need help with 2 different problems using my new HTC Vive... first is with my base stations. I have both directly across from each other and they are on different channels, one has the lights go on and the other only has the letter but the small bottom light is green second I need a way that I can have my monitor plugged in through HDMI into the motherboard and the vive plugged into the Graphics card with HDMI, my graphics card is an EVGA 1080 ti so it only has one HDMI output. any advice is needed.

This post is for listing games you've discovered that have hidden VR options and betas. Usually these are activated by adding -vr to the launch options for the game in steam or by activating a beta mode for VR. To get it started: .Euro Truck Simulator .American Truck Simulator

So I want to upgrade my PC and I always notice that my processor is at 100% on task manager and my RAM is always around 90% and my VRAM is mostly 100% when in texture heavy vr games. These high figures don't really surprise me since I always play games with recommended specs higher than my own so my question is, what part of my pc shall i upgrade. Graphics card : GTX 1060 3gb RAM : 8gb ddr4 2133 Mhz 2x module CPU : I5-7400 (I think ill edit when i check) HTC VIVE non pro two light boxes and touch controls.

I was thinking of getting the Vive Pro headset to replace my og Vive, is it worth it? I have read that is does have more pixels compared to the original Vive, from 1200x1080 per eye to 1440x1600 per eye. I've also heard that it is more comfortable to use(which is a big plus). I am comfortable with the current price tag which is $800 for the headset replacement on the Amazon page, I'm just not sure that it is worth it. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Hey. In the past 2 weeks i had a problem with a spider inside my Vive. Its on the right side next to the lens (Picture bellow). Sometimes i see it inside but most of the times it's hidden. I saw spider web inside too. I tried making the insides hotter so it may come out(Of course, it didn't). Any advice?

Hello! While I know my way around computer hardware, I'm no expert in up to date performance charts or more advanced stuff like virtualization that's why I turn to LTT forums! Basically, I need to build a VR station to power 2 HTC Vive Pros with room scale tracking for VR experiences and games in events. I know it is possible to run 2 HMDs using virtualization or some other fancy trick, but is it really cost effective vs 2 distinct PCs? I'm mainly focused on cost optimization in the short and longer term. I think most builds for 2 headsets use separate graphics cards? is the GTX1060 future proof? let's say I want to invest now and be assured I can still run VR experiences and games smoothly for 2 years... whats a good choice? Regarding the CPU, I feel like the recent price drop on Gen 1 Threadrippers looks fine, am I looking in the right direction? Looking for your precious advice!

Hey there, lately I got really excited for VR with I found more games and finally have a PC that could run it (8700k + GTX 1080). However stopped myself just before I bought it - because it got me wondering whether purchasing one now is the best idea. I got sort of scared about new one coming out soon or similiar. On the other hand I can currently buy a new one for approximately 649$ (converted from CZK) and I am pretty sure the price of a newer version would be nowhere near this (with taxes and so on) - and I am not willing to pay much more for it. So what would you guys say? Buy it or wait? -- I would still probably wait the two weeks for steam summer sale just in case they throw a deal, but the question stands...
