Source: The Verge This would be awesome. I hope the future is this way where every flagship Android device is running stock Android with its bootloader unlocked and the phone itself unlocked to use on any carrier of the user's choice. I know several people who once had crappy mid-low end Android phones and had horrible experiences due to bloated skins and switched to Apple. TL;DR - this is a good move and will make service and devices more competitive in the future imo. EDIT: Also sorry if this was already posted but the search function appears to be broken at the moment.

HTC is working on a raw google version of the HTC ONE. It sure does seem like this is the new thing for companies to do. personally the one reason i was slightly cautious of the HTC (and i mean slightly) was because of the operating version they had. http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/23/4360862/htc-one-stock-android-version-launch-imminent-rumor the article is rather small so i didnt quote it because you can read it just as fast :)

Hi. I am using DropSync to upload TWRP and Titanium backups to DropBox. All was fine but then I noticed something that ''boot.emmc.win'' failed to upload. When uploading that file it goes to 99% and then fails. Here is screenshot from SropSync log. http://www.bildites.lv/images/xgukcrf759kzct49dca.png Is that something serious and if I can restore successfully from DropBox because DropSync uploads and then deletes from phone to save space. I have international HTC One M7 with ARHD 62.

Since new flagship phones are coming with quad cores processors, HTC was reported to have an upgraded flagship model HTC One in the works. And it seems this upgraded HTC One may have a 8 core cpu and 3GB ram. Besides, it was rumored to have a feature called "Clear Audio" for clearer calls, and it will support more LTE bands, covering all networks across US, Europe and Asia. Lastly it was rumored to have a stronger, lighter body along with Gorilla Glass 3 screen, and Android 4.4. Except all these changes, other parts remain the same as the original HTC One, 4.7-inch display, UltraPixel camera and a 2,300mAh battery. Unfortunately, there is still no official confirmation of this upgraded HTC One at this moment. http://androidcommunity.com/htc-one-with-an-8-core-processor-reportedly-in-the-works-20130923/ Update: The original Greek site which posted this news, TechCommunity, updated their story, saying (with English translation from Google) http://techcommunity.gr/2013/09/23/exclusive-htc-working-on-an-octacore-htc-one/ (in Greek)

So, I'm looking to squeeze a little more out of my half of the money after my build and get a new phone. Long ago I decided on the HTC One and then discovered they come in red and blue. Red if purchasing from Sprint and Blue if purchasing from Best Buy. My question is, who is going to give me less hassle about changing my plan. We have the Sero Premium plan from years ago when we qualified being an employee. A couple of years ago I bought made an upgrade by buying from the Sprint store.....The people at the store had no idea what they were doing and had us call customer service and activate it ourselves because we wanted to keep our plan. We'll they tacked on $10 bucks but we essentially kept the plan after some convincing. TL;DR It was a hassle upgrading my phone and keeping our plan after purchasing from Sprint store. Can I expect an easier experience from Best Buy? $100 for an HTC one is a great deal and that blue sure looks sexy.

So on rebooting my HTC One m7 CyanogenMod told me that I had an update so I backed up using titanium backup and copied all of the files off of my phone onto my computer. I then proceeded to press update, after it had shut down my phone and a few loading animations played a screen opened up with the following displayed on it: CyanogenMod Simple Recovery <3e> cm_m7-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84P InstallerXNPQ29S Swipe up/down to change selections; swipe right to select, or left to go back. reboot system now apply update wipe data/factory reset wipe cache partition wipe media I tried the "reboot system now" option and the "apply update" option but neither seemed to show any signs of working. It is stuck in a boot loop when I restart it, constantly rebooting back to this menu. I have looked around and this seems to have happened to a few people but I can't find a solution. I am new to the whole rooting thing so maybe I am just missing something here. If anyone knows any way I can fix this I would be very grateful. Thank you in advanced.

Hey guy's i got an HTC one a couple of weeks ago, and i am loving the phone specially the camera. but couple of days ago i was out taking picture's at night and its then when i noticed the blue tint issue (it's not completely blue but almost purplish), at the time i was taking the pictures thought i messed up something in the settings but after a couple of tries nothing changed. later that day when i came back home i checked the internet for solution's, i read somewhere that the new 4.3 update should fix that, but it didn't (for me atleast your experience may differ) another thing that is worth noting is that the battery life is really not what i expected but then all smartphone's bleed their batteries depending on the level off usage. so right now i am really thinking of returning my phone and getting another one, but is it worth the trouble or will the other phone suffer from the same issue, and is this issue software or hardware related? if i missed anything just ask, will be more than happy to provide it Thx in advance.

Source: The Verge If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess. Never got hands on with a M7 but its reputation speaks for itself. I'm happy they're finally ditching capacitive buttons since I personally prefer software buttons. Here's to hoping there's a GPE version too!

I am traveling to Germany for six months and I am looking for a phone that will work with a GSM sim card in Europe and will work on Verizon when I get back. I was looking into the Nexus 5, but I do not think that it will work even though it has CDMA. What about the HTC One or the Galaxy S4 will either of these work? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks. Or is my best bet to not worry about it and sell whatever phone I get when I come back? -James

Hey, I'm using a HTC One running ViperOne 6.0.0 as my ROM. Everything works great, loving it. However, a few minutes ago I re-enabled the developer options on my phone and activated the " show visual feedback for touches " option, just to try it out. However, as soon as I touch the screen now the phone just reboots. Making it pretty much impossible for me to go ahead and disable the option again. Just wondering what I must to do fix this problem. A factory reset? Thx in advance.

Hey guys. I'm thinking of getting a 2nd hand HTC One. Problem is, i'm a little worried that i might get the purple tint issue with the camera over time once i buy it. I need to know how many are really affected by this issue that i don't think HTC has any answers right now? It'd be better if i had a checklist of what to double-check before i make my purchase? ie. heating the phone up real good and check the camera(purple tint issue) Much thanks.

After releasing the HTC One, (one of, in not the best phone for the year 2013), but then having a fight with Nokia over selling the One mini and One max, its safe to say HTC has had a pretty mixed year. But it seems like they may be working on a solution to that first problem with Nokia. Many sources are supporting the possibility of HTC releasing a follow up to the One, the One Two (or One 2). We have even seen possible 3-D mock ups, which on its own means nothing(because anyone can make a mock up) but tied in with the other rumors from people in the industry and a judge from the Nokia vs HTC case shows this could be a possibility. Most sources (including the 3-D mock-up) show a screen size between 4.7 and 5 inches. Based on the design of the original One a resolution of 1080x1920, and ppi of 441 is to be expected. Continuing with the design of the original One the phone is believed to have 4 mp rear facing camer, a 2.1 mp rear facing camera, and if you talk to those at slash gea.com there could possibly be a dual led flash like on the iPhone. The processor is most likely to be a Snapdragon 800 processor or an 805, and if it is an 805 it would be able to export 4k video. The storage may be anywhere from 16 gb up to 64 gb, with the possibility of seeing micro sd expandability. We also expect to see the dual front facing speakers seen by the original HTC One. Alsothe metal finish we saw with the original One is expected. Lastly, we expect it to run android 4.4 kitkat out of the box, but remember to take these rumors with a grain of salt, you can see my sources below. Some interesting info from Ubergizmo shows that the One 2 may not even be a single phone but a line of multiple phones, and this may have been done to reach a larger market share both in China and the US. But again remember to take this info with a grain of salt. A suspected release date is in Febuary or March of 2014, which lines up very well with Mobile World Congress and CES, but these are just speculations. Also the price is speulated to be around $600. Remember these are all just rumors, and no info that we have now should be taken as fact, between now and the release of the phone many rumors may change. So are you interested in seeing a sequal to the HTC One. Personally, as an owner of the original OneI hope this phone comes out and does very well, and offers up some benefits and improvements to the original One. Also if you could make your own HTC One Two what specs would it include. So I got a developer edition HTC One with an Unlocked SIM and Bootloader with 64GB of storage for a whooping 650$. I got the phone yesterday and now I can see that there are gaps between the top and bottom speaker grills. And there is this static sound when playing music. Its like a soft hissing in the background. Anyone else have this issues? And ideas to solve the hissing problem? The gaps arent a huge concern for me but the hissing is just annoying. It just happens when playing a music or a video but call quality is fine. The gaps look like this:

Hi guys, I'm looking forward to get either a HTC One or a HTC One mini with a new phone contract. Now, I struggle to make my choice. And what makes ME hesitate are probably not the same factors as what would make YOU hesitate. So I am trying to say what and why I am thinking about one rather than the other and so on... - So forget about size, they are so close to each other. And if you want to take into account size, I prefer the smaller one. - Storage... Hmmm.... Years ago I had ALL my music on my iPhone, today (having a HTC 8X) I only have the music I listen to on my phone... So 32Gb on the One, 16Gb on the mini... How much does Andoid uses? Any android users? - Performance. My GF has gotten a Mini a few weeks ago, and the little I have used it, it runs very well. (No games or so, simple usage) So, what do you guys think? Are the performance advantages of the One important enough in a day-to-day usage? - Battery: Probably a very important point, anyone has one of both phones? Any experience on this? - Screen: Well, as long as the DPI are high enough, it's alright. In my opinion both phones have high enough DPI, so don't really consider it... The 720p screen gives an advantage on battery life, so here again the Mini would be at an advantage... - What have I forgotten??? - Yes I am only looking at these two phones, don't bother trying to bring me to something else (other android, iOS, WP, ... ) Thank you for your opinions

Currently trying to decide between these two devices and it is proving very difficult thought you guys could help me out. HTC One Superior Camera Boom Sound (Stereo front facing speakers) Superior Build Quality Beats Audio(not sure if good or bad as Linus suggests using Apollo in his review of Sennheiser momentums) Sense 5 (Linus seems to like it a lot, with new Android 4.3 KitKat coming as an update i believe it will be a very good software choice) 16Gb Superior Pixel Density and good colour representation No expandability (SD card slot) Non removable battery battery life moderate (may need to carry battery pack) Weird button placement (HTC logo in the centre) position of lock button Galaxy S4 Many camera features (picture in picture etc) Removable backplate expandable storage (up to 64 additional gigabytes) replaceable battery touchwiz hard home button Multi window multitasking group play etc Superior Battery life (with bigger battery) Display quality very good (but over saturated) 'Cheap' construction only 10 gb useable of built in 16 (because of large OS) Speaker quality not very good I've put together a short list here based on my research so any recommendations you have especially if you own the device would be welcome. * at the moment i am leaning towards HTC one but i am remaining open

My HTC one screen turns off when I tilt the phone down and turns back up when I tilt it back up. It seems to depend on the angle at which I unlock the phone at. So if I unlock the phone while on my bed facing the phone down it wont turn off. But if the screen is facing the ceiling when i open it , it turns off when I tilt it down. Is there a setting which I have to change or is this a hardware problem. I have been using this phone for a week now and was brand new when I got it(yes with the screen protector and all). I unlocked + rooted it following this guy's video(It was necessary as i had the US model and in India it wouldn't let me upgrade it from 4.1.2). Please do help me. I am a complete noob when it comes to android as I just moved over from my nokia 3310 a week ago(I am not that big into phones). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKQlRK5_CoY

So I've downloaded a light sensor app (Auto Screen On), which means I'm able to use a flip-cover for my phone. If the LTT forum has any, I'd like some suggestions for flip-covers for my phone. I'm not particularly looking for anything sturdy, just something that would protect it from the odd scratch here and there. I'm not prone to dropping phones. Also, I rarely ever carry cash, so a flip-case with some slots for cards would be ideal, too. I dislike carrying my chunky wallet and it'd be easier for me to carry my cards and phone in one package. Also, for those who currently use Auto Screen, did you find that the app impacted battery life at all? The reviews on the Play Store haven't suggested any difference in battery life, but I just thought I'd check before I go and buy a flip case that becomes annoying because I still have to unlock my phone.

Okay, so I have a HTC One in black, and am debating whether or not to sell it and get a Google Nexus 5. With it being almost confirmed as having the 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 inside it, and a 13mp camera, it's looking pretty tempting. I've just grown so attached to the build quality of my HTC One with it's premium feel. Should I root my HTC One to get stock android or sell it and get a nexus 5? I did have a Nexus 7 so have had experience with Nexus devices before.
