I'm trying to repurpose an old HP Z210 Workstation but I cannot get windows to install. If I install windows in UEFI mode it fails at the final part of setup (failed to upgrade computers boot configuration) If I install windows in Legacy mode it fails to boot (INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE) I've tried installing windows via hyper-v to the physical ssd and moving it over as well, then I get inaccessible boot device in UEFI mode as well (though It might be defaulting to legacy mode) The BIOS has basically 0 options, I can switch it from AHCI/RAID to IDE mode but I've tried both and neither worked. There's no option for Secure Boot or CSM/UEFI modes.... I've also tried resetting the BIOS to defaults with no luck. I found a document talking about installing UEFI windows 7 but it basically just says to make sure it's in AHCI mode and do the normall installation steps... I've also tried multiple ISOs including stock LTSC 2015 & 2021 (and windows 7 sp1) images both of which I know work. Any ideas on how to get windows going?

So I recently bought a victus 16, specced with RTX 3060, i5 11th gen. Generally on my 2060 laptop I used to get around 120 FPS, but on this one after like gaming for 2 minutes the FPS goes from 150 to under 70. The temps are well within range (60 celsius), fan is on full as well. This happens not only on valorant but also on League, witcher etc. But putting it to furmark the FPS is a constant 106 at 82 celsius. This whole thing makes no sense, I changed power ports, fresh windows, reinstall the games, tweaked with the Nvidia software. Nothing helps. A 3060 pulling less than 80 on League of Legends on low is laughable.

Hello to everybody I am looking to find a replacement panel for my HP E27 G4 as well as a potential guide. I would like to know if it can be repaired and potentially where I can get the parts. I have looked in HP's HP PartSurfer for parts but I can not find the part(attached) I have attached the image of how the monitor looks now and the 2 pages from HP. I live in Cyprus ( yes its a country in Europe) so something within Europe would be best Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

HP Z420 Workstation: CPU: INTEL XEON E5-2670 RAM: 32GB ECC Memory GPU: NVIDIA K600 SSD: 128GB Boot Drive HDD: 8TB Archive Drive CMOS Battery: New --- HP Z420 Workstation powers-on just fine if I Press the CLEAR CMOS Button and then plug-in the power cable (system turns-on automatically). When turned-on in this way, the system seems to work normally, and I was even able to install Windows 10 and download all of the Updates with no problems. However, when I try to re-start the system (to install the updates), the system just shuts-off and will not turn-on if I press the Power Button. The Green Light on the Power Button does turn-on when the Power Button is pressed - but nothing else happens. If I want to turn-on the system, it seems that all I can do is unplug the Power Cable, press the CLEAR CMOS button on the motherboard, and plug-in the Power Cable. How can this be fixed? I do have 2 other HP Z420 Workstations that have their own separate issues and can be used for parts.

Good day people, My Omen 17 laptop (specs below) doesn't use the Dedicated GPU to its full power when I turn off Optimus. I have done it both directly from BIOS, and from Omen Gaming hub. However, it works after rebooting the machine (once or twice?). And when Optimus is on, it never switches to my dedicated GPU, ever! Now, what do I mean by “doesn't use its full power?” I've checked my GPU usage, it in fact shuts off the iGPU in discrete mode, but my RTX 3060's base clock is capped at 810MHz as opposed to 7100 MHz during load. But still, its usage stays around 95%. I get around 20 FPS in games that I usually run at ~130 FPS. (E.g., Dying Light at maxed out settings) But When it gets fixed after I reboot, everything works as intended. So, at least my GPU is not dead. I've tried updating all the drivers, and played with the settings quite a bit. I tried installing Windows 10 Pro and see if it fixes it but during the installation process, my SSD doesn't show up in the list LOL! That's what kept me from doing it. I guess I have to format the SSD using another machine or use another SSD to do it. Or I can also try running Windows from an external HDD and see if it fixes it. I don't have any other ideas right now. So, what I'm asking you guys is, Is there any other way or troubleshooting option that you know of? Any kind of info helps! TIA --- OS: Windows 11 Home, 22H2 Laptop Model: Omen 17-ck0720nw Processor: Core i5-11400H GPU: RTX 3060 Laptop – 6 GB GDDR6 RAM: (2×8) GB DDR4-2933 MHz [Rated 3200MHz, but XMP option hidden in BIOS] Display: 17.3” FHD IPS (1920 × 1080), 144 Hz, 7 ms, 100% sRGB

I have an HP Envy x360 from work. When I restarted the machine it started updating the BIOS without asking me first. First of all I thought BIOS updates were kind of dangerous as they can brick a system real quick. Is this behavior normal? It’s never happened to me before.

I have a HP 15s laptop which I have been using since past two years. Recently past couple of weeks the speakers have started creating crackling or static sound while operating. This happens at almost every volume level. I am not able to understand why this is happening, the laptop hasn't been physically damaged. The speakers used to sound good until past three four weeks but now they have this crackling sounds when watching a video on YouTube or any other platform. I have reinstalled and updated the audio drivers and also tried window's and HP's troubleshooting utility but it never showed any issues. Can anyone please share some troubleshooting methods which I can follow to remove that crackling sound in the background.

So I have an HP Z800 in storage, an absolute banger of a PC, and there's a slight common issue with it, relating to the power supply, basically all it's power allows is a beep, and a blink, then it goes off. I'm looking to replace it with a normal PSU, and I've done some minimal research in the area of PSUs and so far from what I can see, all I'll need to adapt a normal PSU to it would be a passive adapter such as this: HP Z800 ADAPTER. However, I'd just like to confirm if this is a good idea, and whether I am digging myself into a bigger hole of issues or not. I've seen a few tutorials (mainly on this forum) for adapting another HP model psu to fit into the case of the Z800, but I'd prefer not to do those as I don't have much experience or knowledge of such complicated a subject Thanks in advance and sorry for the simple yet annoying question! Attached I've put the pinout of the official HP PSU, given it's unusual nature. (Credit to @Bun_E_D's post for the reference diagram)

Will Noctua NH-D15 fit the HP omen GT13-0005no?
FastByte17 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello everyone, My friend has a Hp omen GT13-0005no and he wants to upgrade the cooler for better temperatures. I was wondering if the Noctua NH-D15 will be a good choice and if it will fit width wise and if it will interfere with the RAM slots? Another option I was looking at was the NH-U12A. Thank you -
Hi guys, I have an old gaming laptop (Hp Omen 17 w204-nl) wich gpu is pretty broken. I was wnadering if I could use it to host a Minecraft server, or maybe a small nas. The system specs are a Intel Core i-7700HQ, 16gb of ddr4 at 2400Mhz (dual channel) and a semi dead gtx 1070 (bas if you try to ask for gpu power the laptop will just turn off, that's why I'm thinking making it a cpu based server will work). It is also left with only it's hard disk, as I took out the nvme ssd. I am now moving house so the final setup isn't ready yet, but the plan is to connect the laptop via a Ethernet Cat 6 cable to my future router (I am going to buy one of those gamig router) and I will have a 150mb/s connection in the new house. The server will be running bas at all times and I won't use the laptop for anything else, do you think it could work?

I'm having trouble with my HP Envy x360 (es-1000ny) laptop. Whenever I close the lid, the screen won't turn back on. Sometimes the screen flickers or shows strange bars, which makes it impossible to access the BIOS. I have to shut down the laptop and close the lid before restarting it. This process can take multiple attempts. I've already tried reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, and changing power and battery settings, but the issue persists. Interestingly, I didn't have this problem when using Linux.

Hi. I got an Omen 16 laptop almost 3 months ago and I recently noticed that it occasionally makes a short high pitched noise right before shutting down normally. This started happening shortly after I turned off fast startup in windows. I was wondering if this is normal or something I should be worried of since I've never heard it before that? Everything else seems fine otherwise Thanks

I'm searching for a new computer that can handle my work, that goes from light usages such as consuming content to a little heavy such as 3D programs like AutoCAD and relatives. No big chunks or macOS system. I'm an usb-c charger type of guy. For consuming content, I mean playing movies with a decent screen resolution and a high peak of brightness, so it would be nice to have a resolution more than an FHD, and technology like OLED or WLED, hoping to find a screen with a 120hz refresh rate. As for the little heavy part, I'm graduating in dentistry, so I need a laptop that can handle 3D models of facial scans and so on, and, maybe, a bit of gaming sometimes, using Xbox GamePass. In other words, I would like to buy a laptop that would not limitate my ideas and creativity, that can need even a screen with touch input, with a good longevity investment. My choices by now are very poor and problematic because I'm stuck with laptops that have everything, but lack one or two points. Here they are. Dell XPS 17: I'll buy it maxed out, so with i9 and 4080. This means that I'll get a nice specs laptop, nice speaker, good upgradability, good battery life thanks to its 97wh capacity, with touch input screen, but not so bright or colour accurate as I want, and also stuck at 60hz. Nice investment though. Galaxy Book3 Ultra: Best consuming content laptop, thanks to its OLED panel and 120hz refresh rate, even if it's not touching capable. Nice workspace thanks to the Samsung environment (i got an S21 Ultra), decent graphics as it is configurable with a 4070, and poor upgradability (only SSD is replaceable). The problem here is the less powerful GPU compared to the 4080, and less battery life. Surface Laptop Studio 2 (upcoming don't know when): If everything is right, it should be packed with i9 and 4060. Given the fact that it would be my best choice if they choose to equip it with a 4070, I'm forced to ignore it because a 4060 is very less powerful for my needs. But it’s wonderful for its screen clarity, touch input and speakers. Oh, and it even has the nicest camera compared to the previous two laptops, and a trackpad with a haptic sensor. Damn it. Do you all have any further suggestions to give me? I’ve run out of ideas, and I don’t like so much Lenovo or others. Maybe I could give it a try to ASUS, HP, but I’ve not seen a large battery in their laptop. Let me know guys, hope to receive a lot of ideas from you. Many thanks to you all.

So, apparently 2 of our employee manage to bypass our Admin password and install torrent software to Company's PC. There are two local user: 1. Administrator with password - they supposedly don't know. 2. User with password - they use this one. Even though they already sign the User Agreement for company PC. They confess that they ask 3rd party (outside of our organization) : ex employee and their kids to do it. Either they know the Admin password or they find a way to bypass it. From Google Search this what I found: https://itoolab.com/windows-password/how-to-bypass-admin-password-windows-10/#:~:text=Method 1%3A Bypass Admin Password Windows 10 Using Lusrmgr&text=msc” in the Run bar, admin account without any software How to prevent them next time from doing it again? Should we just use M365 Business Account to log them? Thanks

So, my DxDiag is attached, for reference. So, I run into this every so often, but whenever I run an update or that needs a restart or anything else that needs a restart, Windows shows, "Restarting" screen goes black, keyboard LEDs & StreamDeck XL turn off, then back on, but screen is just stays black and nothing happens until I have to hold down the power button and shut it down and then restart it and runs fine after that. I tried checking Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Security & I couldn't find anything, updating NVIDIA's graphics, Windows Updates, and then some to no avail. Has anyone run into this, found the problem, and fixed it? I can't think of anything else. DxDiag 3-12-23.txt

Ok, so. My HPLV2011 Monitor doesn't change correctly the resolution I want, and always displays on 1600x900 and for example, if I want to use 800x600 (for some reason) I will see the screen like a tiny rectangle and around all in black or the classic black stripes at the sides on 1440x900, additional info: I use an adapter to pass from HDMI on my laptop (Win732bit) to the VGA monitor. I hope is a driver issue but if is the adapter I will cry. I will answer your questions as fast as I can. ->>> I want the screen to be scaled to the full screen and not see empty/black spaces.

Hey Smart people who might know the answer. I have two issues relate to thunderbolt. The first one; You see my personal computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad which have thunderbolt. When I bought it. I also got there Thunderbolt dock and it has worked perfectly for years. For some reason, after an update to the firmware by Intel. It keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting like three times in a row every hour. This is really annoying. I can't finde a solution to this and Lenovo says its a intel thing, that they don't have control over. How do I fix this? Now the second issue, the long one; At my new work i have been given an HP elitebook G5 which also have thunderbolt. This is perfect for the few time i will work from home because i can just use my normal setup, or so i thought. You see at my work. We have usb-c dock and it works perfectly even thought it is connect via the thunderbolt port in the laptop. And yes i have check it is thunderbolt, even the bios says thunderbolt. But when i connects it to my thunderbolt dock at home it will only change and connect usb device. I can't get a display output. I have try to update drivers, didn't work. So i contact HP support which just said, that their device are not compatible with any other accessories then HP accessoires. Which isn't that helpful. So i asked Lenovo which said that their dock use standart Intel firmware for comparability across device. which is true, i have never experience a thunderbolt laptop (including macbooks) not being able to connect and get an display output, except for this HP. In fact I can't even get a display output via HDMI. What's going on? Any idea to solve this? Btw i have asked the IT department at my work and they don't know what's wrong. And yes it also works with the HP thunderbolt dock. We have tested. Hope some knows the answer.

Hello everyone. I have a really big dilema and I don't know what to do. So, here it goes. I've recently got my hands on a HP Compaq 6200 Pro SFF and I want to upgrade it and use it for office work and light gaming (E-Sports like Valorant, CS:GO, LoL and so on). [!] Current specs: Pentium G620 4 GB RAM 120 GB SSD no graphics card 240 W PSU (non-changeable). I already got an i5-2500 (after research, looks like it works fine with the PSU, correct if wrong) and 4 more gigs of RAM. The question is: which graphics card is best suited for this kind of PC (low profile card)? After some research (and within my budget), I was thinking of getting a R7 240 or a GT 1030. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any information is much appreciated. Thank you!

Basically, I shut my PC off, and unplugged it, so I could move it to a different location. When I plugged it back in everything seemed normal until I went to play a YouTube video. It took an abnormally long time to load, and when it finally did, there was no audio. I looked at my sound output menu, and saw what you see in the attached video. My audio interface was popping in and out of the menu, like it was recognized for a second then lost in a continuous loop. This still happens every time I try to plug my interface in. The interface is a Presonos AudioBox USB96. It's also worth saying that the Bluetooth has been acting weird too. My wireless earbuds disconnect randomly and reconnect a few seconds later. I've tried updating the drivers of the interface, but it's already up to date, and when I try to update anyway, it loses connection before it can even get close to finishing. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling every audio and USB driver. I've tried updating the CPU and GPU drivers. I've tried using Windows troubleshooting, and HP's BIOS hardware scans. I even reinstalled Windows 11. Nothing seems to work. Any advice would be much appreciated! Problem.mp4

Hi, i own a gaming laptop, hp omen 15, upgraded to 16gb 3200mhz ram, 1660 nvidia. The laptop gets charged with oem 200w charger. Is it normal that the charger gets very hot, i can touch it, but its spiking hot. I game with it plugged in. My laptop reaches about 73c max. Should i remove the internal battery, or is it a way to lower the temp?

I just switched my cooler from a dying intel 120 aio to a corsair i100 240, the mobo is an HP fmb-0902 from a z400 workstation, and has a xeon w 3540 or 3520. Once I did so, it proceeded to hit 100° within 30 seconds, so I repasted it, and nothing, tried adding washers to the backplate, and being careful to not overdo it, nothing, I over did it, nothing, went back to the same cooler, now that's not helping either. The best I can do is stay in the os long enough to see its on fire and power off. I'm suspecting the vrm could be old and crapping out, thus overvolting the cpu, but that's my only guess I have left. Any guesses would be nice, and if you'd like more info, then I can update my post or something as well. (Other specs. 24gb of 1333mhz by Samsung/SEC chips pc3-12800u-11-11-b1. Evga 3080 ftw3 hybrid lhr. Inatek [yes, actually called inatek] usb3.0 card. Realtek 2.5g lan card. Tplink wifi6e/bluetooth card. Apevia atx-wr680w psu [which I know sucks, and cpuld be the problem even]. HP to atx 24 pin adapter, and a stolen resistor from the old front panel header because hp hates you. Chipset is also an Intel af82801jir I think? It goes by x58 express on HP's website)
