ram HP Omen 25L and XMP. I AM FREAKING OUT !
ya_freezy posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, a few months ago, I bought the HP Omen 25L with an i7-13700F and an RTX 4070ti, and upgraded the RAM to 32GB. I initially had issues with XMP, as it simply wouldn't activate through the BIOS. Last week, I managed to activate XMP at 5200 MT/s. Everything was working fine this morning. In the afternoon, when I turned on my PC, I noticed that booting into Windows took quite a long time. In the Task Manager, the RAM speed was back to 2000MHz. I've now set it to XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS 10 times, but the Task Manager still shows 2000MHz. CPU-Z and CMD both display different RAM clock speeds. Which one is correct? I'm even considering replacing the motherboard because HP's BIOS is simply AWFUL. Can anyone recommend a good Micro ATX motherboard with LGA1700 socket and DDR5 that isn't too expensive? The RAM sticks are 4x Kingston Fury Beast 8GB DDR5 each, specified at 5200 MT/s. Or is there anything else i could try ? Thanks in advance for any replies. -
I have a Chromebook I got in ~2020 for my birthday (wish I got a Windows one instead) from my great aunt and a couple of months ago I realized that it was really slow when it was plugged in and being used. I have installed ChromeOS dev mode and I am on the dev channel so I can hopefully one day install Linux on it (I still need to find the write protect screw). How could I fix the issue of it being slow? And even better how can I install Linux (Ubuntu) on it and find the location of the WP screw.

The monitor on my recently purchased HP Omen 25L computer randomly goes black, and I've encountered some issues. I have a 4060Ti, i7 13700F, and 16GB RAM, and my power supply is 600W. From the first time I turnd it on, the monitor turns black for a few seconds, and after pressing some buttons on the keyboard it brings it back. This can happen every 10 seconds or up to 20 minutes, usually lasting only a few seconds. The lights on the mouse and keyboard also stop during this time. When it comes back on, it's like my computer restarted - all programs are closed, even though the PC was still on. I've swapped monitors and HDMI cables, both at the same speed. All drivers are updated(I think). I even went to a shop, and they mentioned that not everything was entirely installed. They checked the device manager, where some icons had yellow triangles. They advised updating those, but my attempts failed. I then tried reinstalling Windows, but that didn't fix the issue. I'm seeking help to resolve this problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I have an HP Victus 16 (4H2B4EA#ABU) which I can't seem to connect to any wireless network. I had given it for a warranty claim and now that it's back, it's original issue with the screen is resolved but I'm unable to use the wifi feature. I first tried reinstalling windows from scratch to rule out any driver problems. Then I tried running some BIOS tests which report that the wireless network module is not installed. I took that to mean the wifi card is not installed so I opened the laptop back to see if I could locate the wifi card and it is indeed there and has a cable going to it that's supposed to connect to it. Further, since I mentioned that I got the item back after a warranty claim, the QA passed list provided with the machine says the wireless connectivity was tested and worked just fine. My only guess at the moment is that the wifi card isn't working but if there is something I can try to narrow the problem down, ideally on the software side of the things, please do let me know. Thanks! EDIT 1: Bluetooth is also not available.

Hello community. Good day I am contacting you because I need help, I bought this source EUROTECH FONTE ALIMENTACAO BRONZE FATX750 and it does not work on my HP PC with micro Xeon, when I connect it the red light on the button turns on and it makes 4 beeps. I already removed the static from the board and changed the battery, it still didn't work. What else could it be?

There's a dim streak on the side of my display that's pretty visible when viewing dark images. I don't actually know if it's been here since I bought it or I actually just noticed it now. What could this be?

I know there have been these types of post before, but most of them have been pre-HP HyperX, now that its under HP, I wanna know are the Clouds 2 still better than the BS V2 X. Also the BS are way cheaper If i get them in the Razer Battle Bundle.

Sorry for making an account just for this, I figured someone here would know and HP is out of hours so won't currently help me, not that they're useful anyway. I was trying to get my workstation to boot into BIOS. I tried F10, booting through recovery and CMD but none worked. I pressed the CMOS button assuming this would revert BIOS settings and let me boot into it. I turned the machine back on, pressed F10 and was shown a "Secure Boot" screen. It reads "A request has been made to change this system's secure boot configuration. which may affect the secure boot keys and/or may disable secure boot." "Please type in and enter the below number for authorization" My problem is that each time I've booted I've typed the number and pressed enter, nothing has happened. I've tried in both front and rear IO USB ports and don't have a backup keyboard but I know the keyboard is working. A few HP posts with no solutions can be found below for the issue and some context, I'm not certain how it's happened. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Stuck-on-secure-boot-authorization-number-during-boot/td-p/6026803 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Stuck-on-secure-boot-screen/td-p/6893555 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/Stuck-on-secure-boot-authorization-number-during-boot-using/td-p/6437504 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Unanswered-Topics-Notebook/Secure-boot-issue/td-p/7998868 Attached and below is a photo of my monitor. I don't know how to get past this, didn't request it in the first place and now can't boot without being shown this screen meaning I can't use my PC at all. Any solutions would be incredibly welcomed. Thanks so much.

My new HP laptop keeps rebooting into the HP diagnostics tool (f2) without ever pressing the f2 key, after hard shutdown by pressing the power button and smashing the escape button sometimes gets me into the startup menu from here I can select the boot menu, and boot to windows no problems. How do I stop my laptop from going into the diagnostics tool on every reboot?

I got a ZBook Fury 16 G9 with an i7-12800HX which I've been using daily for the past 2 months. It performs well and I've been quite happy with it. Running Cinebench R23 on it when I first got it 2 months ago, I was happy to see that the CPU would not get hot enough to throttle, staying at a maximum 89C. I would get scores in the 16k range. Recently however it has mysteriously started exceeding that temp and routinely hitting 96-100C, with throttling reducing performance. Now I'm seeing scores in the 14k range. I haven't made any software or hardware changes. The fans pretty much are as clean as they were when I got it. In the mean time, I've had to resort to using ThrottleStop to set lower power limits in order to keep temps down, since the CPU cannot be undervolted. Anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? Any help is appreciated!

My G8 HP i3-10th gen is refusing to boot after i changed from hdd to sdd. I think the BIOS are the problem but i've tried to recovering them via the HDD and USB but still the problem persist. It turns on and off then on again and remains blank. I've done the hard reset method and it boots up fine with the old HDD but the moment i shuts it down or restart it, it doesn't come back to life. Not sure if the hardware is the problem or what. Also, it no longer remembers the BIOS on the original SSD. Please help people.

HP Z400 setup what should I know about it?
Decoder Tech posted a topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
Hello, So I got some good deals on a HP Z400 6dimms motherboard, 12GB of ram and a Intel w3570 CPU need to got a few more things but I noticed that they said it uses a proprietary PSU. I tried to modify my existing PSU and realise it got frayed in my last build so a no go there. Besides I need a new PSU and a modded extension cable for it is there anything else I should know about this platform? -
I recently bought an HP EliteBook 840 G6 from my local electronics recycling centre. It has a BIOS admin lock on it that's preventing me from changing settings I have already tried clearing the CMOS several times but HP Sure Boot will always make a backup of the BIOS even if the CMOS is cleared. I can't get in contact with guy who originally owned it since ERA doesn't keep those kind of records. There is also no error code when you enter the password wrong 3 times so bios-pw.org is not an option. I don't have a soldering iron so I cant reprogram the bios chip. I was able to get into windows through recovery mode but I still need to reinstall it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need this laptop for school.

Hi everyone, I have the choice between 2 high end gaming laptops, the hp shadow elf 9 plus (hp omen 17 2023) with an intel i7 13700hx and nvidia rtx 4080 and the lenovo Y9000K 2022 (legion 7i gen 7 2022) intel i9 12900hx and Nvidia rtx 3080ti. I can't decide if buying the omen is worth it (15-20% more) just for the rtx4080. I plan on playing AAA games like starfield, the witcher and cyberpunk ( and other incoming games !) in 1440p. I have no issue regarding the portability but I want a rather future proof laptop (5 years at least before it becomes obsolete), about the design, I like both of them. Thank you for helping me decide between both of them.

Hi everyone, i'm currently living in china for the next year and unfortunately, my laptop didn't make the trip (it was quite old and died (motherboard out)). So while i'm here, i'm looking to buy a new laptop and I ran accross the mechrevo Brand with a laptop name 蛟龙16pro (jialong 16 pro)(www.mechrevo.com/content/details4_4822.html), I think its specs fit my needs ( gaming and simulation with 3D rendering) ( amd r9 7945Hx + nvidia rtx 4060/4070 + 32gb Ram and 1 To ssd). But I have no clue about the brand in itself or the product as they don't have any offline stores near where I am. So I was wondering if any of you knew something about it, its reliability, pc build construction like, good heat dissipation, fan noise etc ... It's concurrent is the Hp omen shadow 9 with Intel i9-13900hx and rtx 4060 16/32gb of ra and 1to of ssd. If you have so infos about it, or if the omen is just far superior, please feel free to tell me, ty.

I've been experiencing a perplexing issue with my HP Envy 15 (es1000ny) laptop, The main problem is that my laptop screen refuses to turn on. Here are the details of the issue: Flickering on Boot: Initially, when booting up, the screen would flicker briefly but then remain completely black. I used to resolve this problem by opening and closing the laptop lid multiple times, sometimes just a few times, and other times it took 15 or more attempts. However, as of yesterday, the screen has stopped displaying anything altogether. Power cycling works: When I turn the laptop on and off numerous times - sometimes it will start working normally. Without touching the lid or anything. Yet after rebooting - it stops working. Consistency Across Systems: The issue persists across all states, whether I'm in the BIOS, running Windows, or using Linux. It simply refuses to show any sign of life on the screen. Odd Behavior: What's even more perplexing is that I noticed that, even when the laptop screen didn't work, I could boot into Windows and set up an external monitor to duplicate the displays. Surprisingly, the touchscreen remained functional, allowing me to move things around on the invisible screen. Failed Display Cable Troubleshooting: I've attempted to resolve the issue by fiddling with the display cable and reconnecting it to the motherboard, but this hasn't changed anything.

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent purchase, the HP 800 g3 mini, which I plan to use as a NAS system. My primary goal is to create a backup for my Mac data, potentially replacing iCloud for remote access on my iPhone. Additionally, I'm interested in backing up Apple photos (although I'm unsure about the process), and running Plex. While I'll be the main user for backups, a few other individuals occasionally access my media server. After trying out unRAID, I was impressed by its user-friendly interface and have decided to stick with it. As of now, the system boasts a 6th generation i5 processor, 2x DDR4 8GB RAM, a newly added 1TB NVMe, and a 250GB SSD. I'm considering swapping out the 250GB SSD with either a 2TB or 4TB SSD, or perhaps even an HDD (though I'm uncertain about the best choice). Given the current prices, I'm leaning towards 2TB for now, though the idea of future-proofing with a 4TB option is tempting. In terms of software, I'm already running PLEX, Deluge, Sonarr, and Radarr. However, I'm still figuring out the rest of the setup and would greatly appreciate any suggestions. i don't know much about this stuff took me a couple of hours of YouTube to figure out how to set up Deluge, Sonarr, and Radarr so please dumb it down for me. I'm also interested in running Home Assistant if that's a possibility. Thank you all in advance for your assistance and guidance. Your help is much appreciated!

Hello! Recently I discovered an issue with my and some other people HP gaming laptops, including Omen and Victus lineups. I have an HP OMEN 16-b1000, with i5-12500H and RTX 3060. Hardware side: - HP laptops lack cooling solutions and thermal interfaces, so they are thermally restricted. - Many recent HP laptops have special separate board with IR thermal sensor, which pointed upwards, to the keyboard. Here is the official HP guide with covers it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZebpxQZP4JI&t=839 at 13:59. - Overall CPU and GPU temps are still ok, they are not thermal throttling. Software side: - HP laptops monitor case temp and dynamically lowering PL1 value for CPUs. Without any software running, default power limit in the long run for the i5-12500H (and most Alder Lake-H CPUs) is 25 watts, despite it being a 45-watt spec CPU. AMD ones are similar, but they handle these better, with better power efficiency. This is VERY low. CPU performance is like 50% of the estimated. - HP gaming laptops are designed to work with always running Omen Gaming Hub (OGH) software, which is very slow, bloated, and still gives a low number of settings and customizations. - Even with Performance mode set in OGH, with fans running 100%, CPU PL1 still drops to 35 watts. Again, not even 45 watts. What I tried and discovered: - I did a good cooling system maintenance, replaced thermal paste with Honeywell PTM7950. CPU and GPU temps are much better than stock, but this case throttling issue is still here. - Local service center by the warranty replaced my 230 watts PSU to another one, and issue is still here. - I tried to disconnect the IR board ribbon cable, and the case throttling stopped! So, it's confirmed. But overall laptop always was running very hot, CPU always at 97c, fans not maxed out. It's not designed this, and I'm afraid of losing the warranty. - ThrottleStop with sketchy settings and OGH running in the background is able to override this, but it's a third-party tool, so cannot be considered as a reliable factory solution. - This is an example of how CPU performance lowers, and how much it affects: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgX8mxD0tTE - Multiple people in the HP Omen official Discord could confirm the same issue. The recent case I met is Victus with Ryzen CPU, so it's correlated to HP do its laptops. - HP support doesn't provide any solution. I ask you to help me draw attention to this issue, as I find it is pretty disappointing and even close to scam, to get an expensive laptop with hidden CPU throttling, with lower-than-expected CPU performance from a multi-million-dollar US-based company.

The family printer has been having problems forever, and it just gave up its last breath. (It is an EPSON XP-760) I know asking for a good printer in this era is laughable, but I really am super tired of bullsh*t printers. My question is if there is a colour printer that is reliable, has good driver support, a usable UI, and non-expensive ink/none at all? Subscription services and all that stuff are a no go!

Hi guys I'm looking to buy a new laptop, I've seen two laptops both with pros and cons HP Omen 16-wd0006ns: CPU: Intel Core i7-13620H 4.9ghz (it has fewer cores) RAM: DDR5-5200 MHz, 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Link: https://amzn.eu/d/eTqkFJd OR HP Victus 16-r0032ns CPU: Intel Core i7-13700H 5.0ghz RAM: DDR5-5200 MHz, 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB Link: https://amzn.eu/d/36sXLO3 I've also came up with a third option: HP Omen 16-b1020ns CPU: Intel Core i7-12700H 4.7Ghz RAM: RAM DDR5-4800 Mhz, 16GB (2 x 8 GB) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB MAX-Q Bônus: The screen is QHD 165hz with 300 nits while the other two have a FHD 144hz 250 nits. Link: https://amzn.eu/d/b9IGac6 Due to specs it should be obvious since they cost about the same but my question is in terms of build quality, I've seen some reviews saying that the omens have a far superior build quality comparing to Victus and that worries me about the laptop longevity, what do you guys think I should buy ?

We are a small tech repair shop and I had a client contact me about upgrading their GPU on their 3 month old HP gaming desktop they bought from new. They currently have a 1660 Super and it came with a 350W PSU. They would like to upgrade it to a 3060Ti GPU, this requires (according to HP) that the PSU is also upgraded to a 550W PSU (which is fair) and the configuratior on the HP website says it is possible to buy a new PC factory fitted like this but support say you are not allowed to upgrade it without voiding the warranty, and their sales department say you must buy a new PC to upgrade a 3 month old computer. The PSUs in the current Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02 PCs is not a standard ATX PSU, it is a custom HP PSU, and there is no information out currently (that I can find) of the model number of the 550W PSU to be able to purchase one, and even I was able to find the part number HP say it would void the warranty if anyone except HP fitted it and they dont offer a service to fit it. The HP website usually provides part numbers of different build variants but there is no information currently. Their support provided no information and told me to buy a new HP PC before cutting me off. You could (under UK law) purchase a new PC with the configuration you want, use the serial number to get the build BOM to get the part numbers and then return it within 7 days using the Distance Selling Regulations (UK), this seems extreme and still doesn't get rid of the warranty problem. I really feel this could be a good video for Linus to bring companies like this to light or as a warning that buying a branded computer is not always a good idea. You should be able to upgrade your GPU on your own computer at any time and you should be able to easily buy standard parts to fix them too. Happy to share my research and experience and supporting information if required. Thanks, Andy

Hi all- I am looking to buy a new printer for my house. I currently have an Epson XP-830 and the thing has been nothing but constant problems. I have never had a good print since it was new. The printer gets used a couple of times per week so I do not suspect the ink dried up or anything like that. The printer is constantly out of ink which makes no sense, I swear there is a timer internal on the printer and it just tells you its out of ink because they want you to buy more. The cost for a new set of ink is $50-$70 which seems expensive since I feel like I am constantly replacing it. When I print something, it always gets "scan lines" through it or random splotches of ink all over my paper. We had an Epson Artisan 710 before this printer and that one also had plenty of problems. I hate printers but I still need to keep them around. 95% of what we print is black and white so I do not think we need a color printer. I would be open to seeing options for both color and black and white though if you guys have suggestions. The only good thing about the printer we have now is whenever you need to make a copy of multiple papers there is an auto-feeder on the top of this printer. It is a nice to have, but not mandatory for a new printer. I would say 60% of our prints are shipping labels for things like ebay (black and white), 35% of the prints are text documents (black and white), and the remaining 5% are color photo prints. I have thought a number of times about getting a thermal printer for the labels, but they are so expensive! I think my best option is to go with a black and white laser printer, and maybe a thermal printer?, but I am not sure. What do you guys think?
