hi guys. I can't find a clear answer to this on google so I hope it's appropriate here. I've got a HP all in one that takes a barrel jack for power. looking up its model number it says it needs 65 watts. I can't find the original power adapter but there's a 45 watt adapter in the house for a HP laptop. I'm no electrical engineer, i just want to ask what would happen, would it not power on because the wattage is lower than it needs? or would it operate sort of undervolted? if it tries to draw 65w through the 45w adapter will it overload and damage itself?

So, I am working on a server build at work. We purchased 3 ProLiant servers with standard riser chassis. However we needed more then a single PCI express riser, so we purchased the additional riser kits to add 2 more PCI express slots into our primary riser. We are only running 1 CPU at 128 PCI express lanes(plenty for what we need). Where I am neeeing help is the cabling within the chassis. We are able to get the first additional riser (blue cabling) to work in the chassis it is plugged into ports 7 & 13 ref attached images. However when we try to add the third riser (top riser with yellow cabling) into the server, we keep getting a “Improper Cable Order in Slot 1 or 2 error”. I was just hoping someone more knowledgeable could help explain HPEs weird new changes in gen 11 with these new NVME/ PCI express ports and which ports I should be plugging into with a single CPU configuration.

My laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G6) experienced some kind of issue when upgrading to Windows 11 and crashed completely. I used a recovery USB to restore it back to a blank Windows 10, however, now several features including and most especially the Video Out for the USB-C\Thunderbolt port no longer work. Not sure if this is meant to be over Thundebolt or USB-C DP Alt mode Device manager is showing issues with an I2C HID Device: This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed. If it helps, when I apply my USB-C display to another HP (a Probook I borrowed from work), when the display is attached a "Generic PnP Monitor" appears in 'Bluetooth & other devices' - this does no occur on the machine I'm having issue with. Can someone please help me restore this functionality. I've tried all number of different recovery drives and installing many many drivers, but it doesn't seem to work. Please help!

Getting (not necessarily stable) down to 90/100 fps in cs2 (dm Vertigo) with these specs (HP Omen prebuilt) cpu: i9 11900k gpu: 3080 (10gb vram) ram: 2x16gb Kingston HyperX Fury I'm hating the hp bloatware (and the fact its locking advacned bios settings from me), so looking to build my own PC. Wanting to use some of my parts tho, and wondering what the bottleneck here seems to be. Probably CPU? More info screenshots attached. Also: If I want to have my pc be essentially a custom built (i.e. no remainding crumbs of influence by hp making my life slightly less comfortable :3 ) I figure all I need to do really is change the motherboard ? (& uninstall bloatware)

Hey all! I'm looking for a new laptop and have the chance to buy either of these at the same price [€800 NL] (spec sheets linked below). I'm a student, so use case is normal productivity tasks, some python programming, and taking notes in tablet mode. I like having the chance to maybe connect an iGPU down the line (both have thunderbolt 4). Their main difference is the processor, i5-1335U in the HP and i7-1260P in the Samsung. I'm a bit concerned about the thermals and built quality of the Samsung, but I think the i7 is better on paper. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated! Ok, so I've seen a few similar threads, but no definitive answer... Built this pc only weeks ago with brand new parts, did all the usual set up, updated BIOS, installed drivers etc... all working fine, then the first time I have the system running 3 monitors for more than 5 minutes, main monitor goes black. Odd part is, the pc still recognised the monitor as connected, the other 2 monitors still acted as though the display extended to the 1st monitor, and the 1st monitor was still shown in display settings. When it happens, the monitor's power button doesn't do anything, it remains lit (in white as though it's awake, instead of amber as though it was asleep) and the only way to get it running again is to disconnect the monitor's power and then reconnect. I've been troubleshooting for 2 days straight, attempts as follows: Restarted Unplugged and restarted Swapped cables (same monitor went black) Updated BIOS Windows update Checked event log (nothing significant) Tested monitor with another pc Sfc test (no issues) Memtest diagnostic (no errors) DDU then clean driver install EC reset Haven't had any luck; the screen blacks out anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours after a boot, no consistency. I've run the pc with task manager and other monitoring software open to try and spot CPU, GPU and RAM performance at the time of a black out, but nothing significant there... CPU temps average about 65°C and GPU about 55°C from what I've seen. Curiously, I had no issues when only 2 monitors were connected, but my GPU should be able to handle 4! Hello, So I have an HP z420 Workstation and have been wondering if I could upgrade the GPU. I found the Rx580 to be ideal for my system but, it requires an 8-pin connecter while I have only a single 6-pin connecter. I read some articles that say you can ignore the other two pins and connect the 6 pins only but, I also heard it might cause some overload on the cable and cause some heating or crashes. Please recommend me something other than changing my PSU cause where I live the RX580 already costs a lot, so getting a new PSU would be difficult.

Hi folks, First post so apologies for any faux pas! I bought a Z440 as an upgrade platform for a sweet £69 gaming PC, however... I have added some DDR4 ECC RAM into slot 1 and added my RX 580 (confirmed working) into it as no on board graphics. When I try to boot I get the following message: It sticks here and doesn't move any further, no additional messages etc. It won't let me into the BIOS to change anything as it goes to this screen and is non-responsive. There is some fan spin on power up, but they stop when it gets to this screen. No beep codes, it just gets to the message and dies. I have tried disconnecting all USBs (as apparently that can help), no effect. I have tried Ctrl + S to get into the menu on this screen, no effect. Grateful for any help, have I bought a dud?!?!

HP pavilion aero 13 be1000au Hinge?
HendryyyyyVarrrr posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hello, I looking for a new laptop to buy, and i saw hp pavilion aero 13 be1000au. I kinda want that laptop now. But i keep finding people on the internet complain about HP laptop's hinge being bad So, if any of you guys using this laptop, is it still bad? Thank you! -
Hi! I have a 15.6 HP Envy x360 laptop and the hinge broke recently. Got a replacement in today and went to repair it, however after literal hours trying to get the screen off without breaking it I'm at a stand still. I don't know if I messed up already but there seems no way forward without using force or physically cutting or breaking something. Both sides of my screen is stuck about 1 inch from the top of the screen. I finally got it separated enough to see whats stuck. There is a metal piece that is still attached to the shell for most of the screen and then it's attached to the screen for the top inch. It looks like its attached to a piece of plastic specifically that was clipped to the metal piece. At the very top it seems almost melded into the plastic piece. I can't find any pictures or videos online that's showing this so if anyone has any experience with this laptop or any like this I'd greatly appreciate it.

Budget (including currency): $130 Country: Canada My Hp laptop (Probook 445 G8) I just got from eBay has an inferior 250 nit 45% sRGB screen 1080p (hp part no. M47408-001). I want to upgrade the screen with one that is compatible within the service manual. I want the 400 nit 100% sRGB 1080p screen (hp part no. M47409-001) found on page 9 of 90 in the service manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c07012041.pdf Problem is I don’t know the model number that Samsung or LG or AOU or whoever assigned to this screen. The suppliers like laptopscreen.com and blisscomputers.com don’t have product specifications for the screens they carry other than resolution and whether it a 30 or 40 connector. I called them and they have model numbers only and only know if it is compatible. If I order I could get a worse screen than what I have since there are 9 screen variants. They need a model number if I want a screen that performs to my specs. I called HP multiple times and they don’t know and if they did they won’t tell me. They do sell the screen on hp.parts.com for $588 when I know that screen costs $100 elsewhere online. Does anyone have the model number for the the 400 nit 100% sRGB 1080p screen (hp part no. M47409-001)? It can be found on the back of that lcd panel in an HP Probook with that screen.

There's two images that show the issue really well 1: Discolouration along the sides - not major issue, can be wiped off, but gets really bad in ~6 months to a year and can no longer be wiped off and becomes permanent 2: Screen scraping - Screen gets scraped in an upside down T shape, the horizontal line is close to the line where the screen would meet the top border of the trackpad, the vertical line hits the horizontal right where the trackpad's top left corner is. Diagram below image Red line marks where the scraping occurs, it gets around 1cm wide after a year and is very scratched up Laptop is stored in the front pocket of my bag, image below: Section image: Padding between the section and me I ride the bus, sometimes use my back as a support. There aren't a lot of books in the other pocket but occasionally it's packed full and has no space, I have to cram stuff in sometimes. It appeared today after the weekend of not using it and I had very few books in there so not sure if that's the cause. Would love a solution as I don't want ANOTHER one of the laptop screens scraped and damaged

I was given an HP ProLiant ML330 G6. This is the first server that I have ever messed with, and I don't know what's going on. I believe I have everything connected correctly, but it will not power on. Do you have an idea of what it could be that is causing that? Also, I don't even know what I'm going to do with this thing. Do you have any ideas as well?

My mom has a 13" HP laptop that so far has killed 3 Sata SSDs. The laptop isn't used very often either. After the first SSD died she gave it for repairs and they swapped the Ssd which died soon after. So she gave it to a different technician. From that point the laptop wasn't used very often barely 15-20 times since Oct 2022 before it failed again. I'm visiting her on my holiday, I took it apart suspecting MB is causing the dmg but I didn't find any sign of dmg to the MB. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?

Sometimes while doing CPU-Intensive tasks, such as gaming, the built in keyboard on my HP ProBook 440 G3 will have extreme latency when i stop pressing a key. For example: If i hold the W key for about 20 seconds, after i let go it will sometimes register for anywhere between 1-30 seconds while i am not even touching the key. Nothing i do during that time gets it to stop registering either. This makes the keyboard almost impossible to use while gaming or doing anything else CPU intensive. I have tested this with plugging external keyboards into my laptop, and not a single one has the issue, so it must be the integrated one. But all of my drivers are up to date and there is no obvious problem with the keyboard other then this, so it must be something software level. Is this a known issue? If so, is there any possible fix?

Hi, guys I thought I should probably ask someone with more experience than me so... (Some backstory) I bought a HP Pavilion 590-p0044 on eBay for about $80 and I'm doing some upgrades to it to make it better. It came with a ~180w PSU that's rated 80plus Gold (If I remember correctly) and I wanted to upgrade it to a 400-500w PSU as I plan on buying a Graphics Card in the near future and I don't think the current PSU is going to be able to handle it. (btw I plan on getting an AMD Radeon RX 580 which uses ~185w so I'm defiantly going to need an upgrade). I just wanted to know if I could use any off the shelf PSU or if I can only use the upgrades at HP/eBay sells (Parts: {400w PSU[L04618-800] $70-80} and 500w {PSU[L05757-800] $65-150}). My PC's specifications are... AMD Ryzen 5 2400G w/ Radeon Vega 11 Graphics 8GB DDR4 Ram (I have an extra stick of 8GB DDR4 but it's in another PC at the moment) 500GB SATA SSD 2TB SATA HDD @ 10KRPM Windows 11 Home Images Below are closely similar to the PC I own.

Budget (including currency): $500 USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Counter-Strike 2, Dark and Darker, Productivity in General Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Existing PC that would like to be upgrade - HP Z220 SFF Workstation PC Specs: CPU: Intel Xeon E3 1225 v2 (4 cores, 4 threads) GPU: Integrated CPU graphics PSU: OEM HP PSU 240W Storage: 1 TB HDD (I know an SATA SSD is needed to improve PC performance) Memory: 2x4gb DDRM RAM (8gb RAM total) @ 1600 MHz (I know this should be upgraded to 16gb or 32gb total) Motherboard: HP MOTHERBOARD (655840-001) Would be playing on 60 Hz @ 1920x1080 Native for any game that is not CS2 (CS2 I play on 1280x96 4:3 60 Hz), already have a monitor to handle this case usage. No peripherals are needed. When am I going to buy? When the price is right for me. Hello, I am looking to upgrade my HP Z220 SFF Workstation to play CS2 + Darker and Darker at 60+ FPS. I have been doing some research and was wondering what is the best part for both CPU and GPU for this setup. I was wondering if I could put a low profile GTX 1070 or RX 580 as a GPU, I wasn't too sure if 4 cores 4 threads for my current CPU would be a bottle neck or would need an upgrade here. Ideallly I'm just looking to upgrade only CPU, GPU, and Memory. I do not want to move my components to a new case or motherboard or PSU.

Hello, I have recently downloaded Fortnite on my HP ENVY x360 Convert 15m-es0013dx laptop and when you try to launch it says, "The installed version of the Intel graphics driver has known issues. Please install the latest driver version. Would you like to visit the following URL to download the driver? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics Installed: 30.0.101.1340 Minimum required: 30.0.101.1404" When I try to download the driver is says it will remove the OEM customizations if I download and install the graphics driver. I have checked HP for driver updates and it says I don't need any. What can I do? My OS is Windows 11 Version 23H2

My friend gave me an HP Pavillion 15-ec1008ca that she assumed had a fried mobo (belonged to her brother). I'd say she's somewhat right. I got it to boot by removing the battery, but the display is dead. Any way I can make the ribbon cable connect to a monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort? Also, I was just looking into SPI displays for Raspberry Pi. Would that work on laptops?
