Hello ya'll, I notice my Lenovo T420 runs extremely hot lately. HWINFO Reports 94C° on some cores, topping out at 100C°. This all while sitting in an ambient temperature of about 23C°. When typing your fingers also get extremely clammy, so do your wrists. This isn't a healthy temperature for a CPU and I am fully aware of that, I guesstimate it'll last a month or two before completely giving up on me. (It already starts stuttering in playback of audio, while the video still plays fine) It heats up to the point of the badges on the wristrests actually loosening up and sliding around slightly. Any other opinions on this? Keep in mind I run the model with the i7 2640M and a NVIDIA NVS4200M and upgraded the memory to 8GB's but kept it running an HDD. I replaced the thermal compound about 7 months ago. This issue arrived 4 months ago, which leads me to believe that has nothing to do with it. I used Artic Silver 5, which is what I use in all my systems. TL;DR: I'm 99% sure it'll break down on me really soon. It had a great run. What do you guys/gals think? It already stutters & slows down, but it doesn't randomly shut down. It keeps running; for the time being. If possible some recommendations for a successor would be amazing, I just do not have an extreme budget for it. (Looking into second hand atm) - Sfekke

Hello, I noticed my Intel core i5-7600k is running around 50 degrees Celsius at idle. When i started a stress test it went up to around 91 degrees. I don't get why. My case is air cooled with 3 case fans 1 stock and 2 noctua) and my CPU cooler is an Be Quiet Pure Rock Fullsize. Do you guys have any ideas?

Disclaimer: I'm a semi noob with computer building Hi, I have a custom built PC which was built for my by PC specialists here in the UK. I was having a lot of BSOD problems and on on their advice I reset the CMOS battery and reseated the ram. Seemed straight forward. However since then I've been getting some concerning temperature readings. It will take 2 weeks round tripping to have the system returned and fixed, but I have work to do so I'm someone can help me find a solution myself. Basically when I render video out of DaVinci Resolve the fans are blasting like they never have before and the liquid cooling unit is displaying a red warning light. It's set to do so when the pump temp is above 45c. Here is a screenshot of my temps I never checked them before the CMOS reset so I don't know how this compares. Do these temps look normal? CPU Maxed at 80c & GPU at 86c After a heavy load the CPU and GPU temps drop to around 40c but the pump itself takes forever to get back to idl temp. I'm talking like an hour In every other way the system seems to be functioning normal. I'm just very concerned by the intense fans and red warning light that I din't experience before. Could there be a problem with he pump? Thanks Specs Mobo: ASUS PRIME X399-A AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti Cooling: H80i v2

Bought it like 5 months ago, started to get hotter on the keyboard and the wind could get to my face. I could have open lots of games before and this would not happen, i am talking gta v + csgo + runescape at the same time. Now with just chrome + fortnite this starts to happen. I opened the back case but everything its in the correct place and i even cleaned it but still the same. As i downloaded speedfan i saw the Cores (0,1,2,3) being at around 83 degrees Celsius (70 degrees while Writing this post) while Everything else is around 30 degrees (see image) I'm definitely not a very computer literate person but i don't Think the temp. should be at 70 degrees idle. I've checked for virus/threats and for update but these is none. My CPU aldready has a thermal paste and the fan/water cooling/pump seems to be working, even though the fans are at 0 rpm according to the BIOS settings (!) What could the problem be?

I Have Fooled Around With Computers And Laptops Before, But I Just Bought A New Laptop And I Was Curious Because I Seen That My i7-7500u Is Running Base At 3.5Ghz. This Is Uncommon Considering It Usually Is Intended To Run At 2.7Ghz With 3.5 Being Turbo Boost. There Is Nothing Running And My Utilization Is At 0%. Is This A Problem?

Guys, I want to buy a good, and warm jacket because the one I´ve been using is getting old. Please post your favorite jackets, if you find a link it would be awesome aswell. If not images will work. The one I´ve been using is tommy hilfiger packable puffy jacket. Its very warm, I use it with -12C with just a thin sweater and it keeps me very warm. This is the jacket: https://www.amazon.com/Tommy-Hilfiger-Mens-Packable-Jacket/dp/B01B41T77U?th=1 I use the water and wind resistent one, and I also had the black nylon one, but feathers are coming out lol. Bought it for 190 dollars if I remember correctly about 2 years ago

So got a new laptop the Aspire V 15 Nitro - Black Edition, when I play games on it the temps reach nearly 100 and I can hear the fans ramp up. I read a forum post detailing just as long if my pc doesnt freeze or slow own it is fine can some please elaborate for me if I'm ok. P.s I have changed the stock thermal solution with an aftermarket one.

Hi, I have a Strix 1060 from Asus and I noticed that it is running at least 50+°C at idle. Atm, my chassi is open so I don't think its to hot around it or something.

Ok, so I have some nasty virus that no antivirus can get rid of that I have tried. It's a browser hijacker and there might be others. I can't reinstall windows from a USB, tried many times (see my post below). Every time I open the settings and press reset, it just doesn't do anything. I restarted my pc in safe mode and tried it, I did the thing where you hold shift and restart it, and it just ignored the shift and restarted normally instead of bringing up the troubleshooting menu. I have no Idea how to fix this, please help.

Hey guys, I have an issue at the moment with my home server. During the summer when it gets hot, my voltage regulators would climb over a certain temperature when the CPU is under high load and would cause my server to cut out. This started happening ever since I put a high watt Xeon into the board. It was happening quite alot when I had all of the memory slots allocated in 8 channel. I have since limited it to quad channel only to relax the VRM and it looks to be somewhat stable. I was wondering what is the best cooling solution out there for VRM? Currently not happening because it is winter here in Ireland and it's super cold. Whats weird is that 95% of the pictures I can find on this board don't have VRM heatsinks, but some do? Board is a very uncommon Intel DX79TO. You can see the VREG here above the socket: Here is a board WITH the VRM heatsink :

Hello I have a serious temp issue with my ryzen 5 1600 processor. It's currently overclocked to 3.7 1.272v using the stock cooler. The issue is that it gets too warm under load. The idle temps however are around 32-38c but after only 6 minutes of realbench's stress test it reaches 91c. I've tried reinstalling it with new thermal paste without succes. I've now reached a point were I don't know what to do anymore. Any help is highly appreciated, thanks!

Description I built my friends gaming computer recently. He has been purchasing pieces in sections (system specs at the bottom) and he has found issues with the temperatures getting into the 60's and 70's. In Corsair Link, it shows 30% load but that seems rather high. They have been playing other games such as Hearts of Iron 4 so the original thought is that the CPU was already running warm which could cause it. Playing other games since the incident the CPU fans have ramped up a little but not in a concerning sense. They were doing their normal job. I had him put War Thunder in movie mode on full settings and it didn't seem to be doing anything and we couldn't replicate the issue. The motherboard has an OC button built in but it is NOT activated. He is running at stock speeds. I know WarThunder does not at all utilize all of those cores so it wasn't like it was under 100% load. He had discord up while screen sharing but that was all that open. I plan on installing that bracket as CoolerMaster's website says to do even though the instructions for installing onto an AMD board doesn't state anywhere that a separate bracket is needed. I did as all computer enthusiasts and builders do for thermal paste (a grain of rice or a little bigger). I did use the Thermal Paste provided with the Hyper 212 EVO. I don't think that would made a big difference but I know some pastes are better than others due to their chemical compounds. The PC is resting under his desk and the rear exhaust fan is blowing into the back wall of the desk and there is only 1 fan on top as well that is exhausting. He doesn't have any form of fan splitter yet to be able to control three fans off of a single System Fan Port. His Motherboard has NOT been flashed in any sort of way. He plans to use the OC button at some point as well as upgrade to some form of custom liquid loop but right now with budget he is refraining from making any form of decision like that. The CPU fan on the Hyper 212 is connected to the CPU fan header and the 120mm rear fan is connected to the optional CPU fan header so both are running at the same speeds (I believe) so when they ramp up, the air going through the fins are being pulled out the back. Issues ran into possibly related to the issue during initial hardware install: - Windows 8.1 would NOT accept the provided Aorus drivers CD to update the system. It said it was not compatible or something along those lines - Hyper 212 EVO has a bracket sold separately, I bought it but did not put it on. The box has a scissor support system that comes with that the instructions said to use so I don't know if neglecting to use that bracket really made a difference since the cooler is making full contact right now. - He's running on Windows 8.1. I don't know the details or specs with 8.1, I have never used it so I am wondering if using that OS could be a contributing factor. Possible Answers we came up with: - The Motherboard is not BIOS updated from the CD, it is completely stock from the manufacturer. It could be possible there is an update in there that might solve this issue. - The bracket missing might be a possible factor as well (No full logic as to why since it does have direct contact but with no evidence to rule it out, we added it on). - The hot air being exhausted out the back could be circulating back into the case through the sides since though the front fans are wide open in the room and only the back fan and operating top fan blow air under the desk he is currently using. - The individual cores being utilized for the games are at max capacity and running hot (we do NOT have any reputable programs up that show temps of individual cores (if those even exist without going into the Mobo itself)) - Possible Hardware issue (seems unlikely since most other games run at normal 40-50 degree temps and no other issues have arose) Overall Questions: - Is there any idea as to why the temperatures were ramping up to those heights and the RPM consistently going up and down? I know 1800X's don't exactly run cool but I feel like that is a bit odd? - Is it possible to spread out which cores are used during gaming to perhaps increase performance or is that not possible? I am not sure. - Is the OC button built onto the board a good way to OC the chip or should that be avoided and do it manually via the BIOS? Thank you for your help. ______________________________ System Specifications: OS: Windows 8.1 CPU: Ryzen 7 1800X CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO Memory: 16GB Corsair Vengence RBG 2133mhz DDR4 Storage: - Samsung 850 PRO 512 GB - 6yo 1TB HDD from an HP. I recently jut got a Ryzen 3900X with new RAM and Mobo. I installed it the other day and seemed fine but the CPU is really tosty and fans are ramping, then randomly at times, Windows will lock up. I do understand that this type of CPU is one to get decently hot but my testing is all over the place. I had used a Be Queit! Dark Rock 3 (i think, but definatly not the Pro) and the idle on Windows was around 40-50 Degrees but when randomly, Most commonly exiting any game (CS:GO, Fortnite, TF2, Forza Horizon 4 so far) Windows will lock up fully, I can still open the Start Menu but cannot restart, shutdown, open apps etc, I Have to fully power off by the power button. I have reseated the heat sink, checked thermal paste etic and all seems fine, but idle temps seem high. Furtehr testing (3DMark Time Spy and Forza benchmark), the CPU goes up to 80 Degrees (and fluctuates around there) Just in case, I tested with the given Wraith cooler and the idle temps fluctuates more and is 10 degrees more hotter. What I would like to know is: - Are these temps "normal" with the cooler (Dark Rock 3)? - What cooler would be reccomended (Air or AIO, not planning to OC seeming this CPU gets tosty and im in Australia....... so its already hot enough) or what i have is fine? - Are these temps cause this system lock specifically or it something to do with the games.? New setup details are as below: - CPU: Ryzen 3900X - Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 (i think 3, not the Pro) - RAM: 2x16GB 3600Mhz Trident Z - MoBo: Asus Prime X570-Pro - GPU: GeForce RTX 2080 Founders Edition - PSU: 1000W Corsiar RM1000i - Case: NZXT H500i + 2 additional fans (total of 4 Case fans) (Corsair LL140 RGB)

This is my first attempt at an install of not only a motherboard, but also a CPU. After getting it all set up, I opened up Speccy to see how the temps were, and it's reading 75-85 on idle. (I read 91 at one point) Since this is my first attempt at something like this, not exactly sure where to begin troubleshooting. What I know so far: 1. I applied a generous amount of thermal paste, so I don't think the problem lies there. (More specifically, what I assume is the paste that comes already on the cooler, in addition to some third party thermal paste on top of that.) 2. I struggled a bit get the CPU cooler on, but all the screws I believe are tightened down all the way. 3. System door is open, so air intake shouldn't be a problem. 4. I am using the stock AMD cooler that comes with the Ryzen 7 2700. 5. All my fans are running at max with the fan speed options on my Stormtrooper Coolermaster case. If anyone could help me with this i'd be very grateful.

I have A8-7650K with hyper 212 evo on an Miniitx board and even with case off it idle at 50-60C?? anyone know why? then when i am in game I have very bad fps lag drops is it because of the temp of the cpu? here is my pc: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/96Mtnn

Recently i switched form an i5 6600k to an i7 6700k. But when i use heavy CPU programms the i7 reaches extremly fast 70-80 ºC . I don't understand this because i have an Corsair h110i GTX. And even when i change the profile to max in Corsair link the temperature remains on 70-80 ºC. Any suggestions or ideas why this happens?

Looking to build a powerful small machine for media editing (Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop... in that order) and occasional GTA V gaming. Problem is, daily temperatures here in Bangkok range from 26 - 32C (79 - 90F) and humid! I've gotten my build this far based on what parts are actually available in Bangkok (http://pcpartpicker.com/list/YfT3wV): CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H170N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Aegis 32GB DDR4-2133 2x16GB Memory Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Power Supply: Super Flower Golden Green HX 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case Videocard: ???? Geforce GTX 1070 My questions: 1) Based on the Cooler Master Elite 130 case and Bangkok climate - 26 to 32C (79 to 90F) - do you guys think it's possible to stock cool the CPU? a) If stock cooling is possible but not in this case, maybe I should go with a different small case to allow stock cooling? Any suggestions based on size, cooling and price? I don't care so much about looks or windows, etc. b) If stock cooling not possible, which liquid cooler can you point me towards? Maybe the Corsair H60? Price and cooling are more important than noise. 2) I'd like a Geforce GTX 1070 but I'm lost as to which model. Looks like EVGA and Gigabyte are my top 2 contenders from Amazon reviews... but which model specifically? I'm using a single 2560x1440 Dell monitor with both HDMI, Displayport inputs. GTA V is my only game, otherwise, it's most important that Adobe Premiere work well. I'm mainly concerned about price and Premiere but perhaps cooling is a factor in Bangkok? Muchos thanks in advance for your help!!! FBP

Hey guys, I have an Asus Strix 970 that is running hot. Everything is Stock on it. Not overclocked. While running Unigine Heaven Benchmark it will reach up to 90c+! And it ramps up to that very fast, within 10-15 seconds. The case has adequate cooling, and the card is hooked up correctly and all that. Fans are spinning up just fine, they are getting to %80+ and it's still getting hot. What are some ways I can remedy this issue? I was thinking about taking it apart and putting some Arctic Silver 5 on it. RMA is not an option. Currently I just make sure to have the Temp Target be the priority, so the clock speed will dull down. That will keep it safe for now, but I'm looking for more of a fix, because the card will clock itself down to 800-900mhz. Would a Bios Flash fix something like this? I have 2 of the same card, and one card doesn't have the same issue, they have different Bios' so I was kinda thinking about putting the good cards Bios on the Hot card. What ya think?
