Okay I need to use ProFreeHost to host a website for college. Though in CPanel, everything seems fine when uploaded, then when I check the site online; the HTML & Images seem to load, but for some reason doesn't seem to display the CSS or connect to the other pages, only my index page. I will provide screenshots of the files, code & what it displays online. (Note everything works perfectly locally). (Also note this is my first online site and never used CPanel before) The video tutorials I've seen a pretty bad & CPanels are different. http://sunshineparkfarm.ezyro.com/ Cafe.html Contact Us.html Farm.html index.html stylesheet.css Images.zip

Hey guys. I have a little trouble. I am a company president that provides educational services online. My page consists of people flowing in and clicking at least 5pages until they get to the product. Our product consists of people filling out reports online and then printing them for their personal use or saving them on the server which is cloud based as of right now. I'm having trouble because current server has php 5.1 which is not recommended and when upgrading it many bugs surface or objects are not recognized by the updated version of php. Now, I am having this trouble because of money and time since my computer scientist can do the work but has not had the sufficient time. Anyway, this is not the main problem since it has been working fine until right now. But, now we are going to have 10x of usual traffic (e.g. more users, more clicks, more saving, but not uploading). I have been told that I should move the hosting site since it is shared. I need top notch security, upgrading php and the page to react fast. I need to know which server to use VPS or Dedicated for the insurance of functionality and downtime. Should I get the dedicated for a little bit more? Willing to spend up to $150.00 monthly. Where should I look for that kind of server? Who has had the experience with something like this? A tip would be nice. Thank you guys JV

so i have recently purchased some hardware to start hosting some game ,and voice servers. my question is if i open a port for a server can it be exploited to get into my home network or take control of the server? sorry if this is the wrong section.

I finally got my home server up and running recently (specs at the bottom of my sig). It's been on 24/7 since then, hosting a music bot for Discord, Plex and a VPN, and also serving as my NAS. However it's not being nearly fully utilized by just these things. So what fun/useful things can I run on it? I'm looking at upgrading the RAM from 4GB to 8 or higher so I can run VMs.

I have recently stopped paying monthly for server hosting as I lost my job and couldn't afford it. My minecraft server went down because of this and I want to bring it back up. I thought maybe I could turn my laptop into a 24/7 running server as its basically unused and I could assign most of the ram to the minecraft server. However I want to know what steps do I need to take to make it 24/7. I've written a script to restart my server if it stops or crashes but I want to limit the amount of time it stops or crashes. How do I keep my forever changing ip the same? I just need advice as to if its even possible Thanks!

I'm not that great with networks, but here's my theory. I want to try a Minecraft server that friends can connect to. I've done this in the past with Minecraft and GMOD, but I used Hamachi in both cases. We would just all connect to the same Hamachi network and they'd be able to connect to my server thru my local IP address. Now I'm thinking, if I get my network's public IP, would others be able to connect to my server using my IP and a port? And would I need to do a port forward or not? This is just a test server and I a have a hosting service picked for anything serious, but I want to try this. Would it work and if not, what would I need to do? Thanks for helping.

I have a server on my network that does multiple things, amongst one is hosting a few pages for a website, designed for managing the server remotely and for friends and family to access plex/test to see if it is down etc. I also host a nextcloud server as well. Now I can access all of the pages of the site remotely or if I am connected to a VPN, but I can't connect to it if I am on the same LAN as the server. I suspect it is a setting in the router (Asus DSL-N16) but I am not sure what setting I should be looking for. I have looked around for loopback settings or something that may be similar but I'm either blind or more likely it has another name and I am missing it. more info on the home network: DHCP is handled by windows server 2012r2 DNS goes through windows server 2012r2 router is basically acting as a PPPoE client/modem until I get paid and can buy a long enough cable to build a pfsense router in my rack upstairs. Any Ideas?

Hello, I am looking for a service that provides hosting for a custom domain on the cheap end. (under $3/month) I have decided to go with Domian.com for a registrar unless someone has a better suggestion. I have not yet purchased the domain, so it's not currently a time issue. If at all possible, I would like to have an SSL/HTTPS certificate on the site to get the green lock (secured). Thanks in advance to anyone that helps!

ryzen Ryzen 5 1600 for game server machine
TinyBolts posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Going to make a server, can't find any cheap LGA 1155 motherboards for Xeon-1230, so I'm thinking, would a ryzen 5 1600 with a cheap b250 board work? Games: Unturned and DST, very easy games to run, no rust and nothing like that. -
Hi all, It's been a while since I've posted here but I know LTT is a community I can trust. I'm looking to start a wordpress site and trying to buy a certain domain. I'm currently looking at all the mainstream providers (like GoDaddy, HostGator) but the extra stuff they keep offering me at the checkout is making me feel uneasy. Here's the main stuff I value in a hosting service: Privacy Customer Service Value for money Security I would really appreciate any recommendations for what hosting service is best. Does anyone have experience with better alternatives? I don't think I'm in a position to host the site on my own machine right now since I'm currently between homes. Thanks in advance, Rossyboy

So I use remote desktop to connect to my server when I am not home; but when I do there are a lot of "hard faults" going on in the memory; This goes away after a while, is there a solution to this problem? the system also doesn't respond while this is going on. I really can't find where this problem is coming from Information about my memory (if that would be the issue) 16GB DDR3 ECC registered ram (supplied by micromemory, the ram is fine and has never had issues. (as far as I can tell))

I have done research on enabling gzpi compression on asphostportal shared windows hosting and here is the proposed solution: <system.webServer> <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false"/> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"/> <httpCompression directory="%SystemDrive%\inetpub\temp\IIS Temporary Compressed Files"> <scheme name="gzip" dll="%Windir%\system32\inetsrv\gzip.dll"/> <dynamicTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true"/> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true"/> <add mimeType="application/javascript" enabled="true"/> <add mimeType="*/*" enabled="false"/> </dynamicTypes> <staticTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true"/> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true"/> <add mimeType="application/javascript" enabled="true"/> <add mimeType="*/*" enabled="false"/> </staticTypes> </httpCompression> <urlCompression doStaticCompression="true" doDynamicCompression="true"/> </system.webServer> But this is currently not working and I am not getting http response header, Content-Encoding gzip. Can someone help me with this? Thanks

I need help building a host server. I'm not sure which components to buy. The server should host a website, a teamspeak server, a gameserver (csgo, ttt, minecraft - only one at a time) and a nas. My upload speed is 12 Mbps, but in a few months it should be at 50. I already host a server so I know how it's done. Setting up and managing it isn't an issue. Btw, I'm not richierich, so the whole thing should be affordable and the power consumption should be acceptable. Maybe I should buy two servers, one for the website, the NAS and the Teamspeak to run 24/7, and another for games that I can turn off when I do not need it. Idk I hope someone can help me. Thank you in advance

Hello, Can you guys help me with this? I own a domain example.com, I used it just to redirect to my social media sites. I have a subdomain like google.example.com redirecting to google.com (using the URL Redirect Record) and it works great for what I want. But if I try to go to https://google.example.com it says "This site can’t be reached". I know that redirects like these require a SSL certificate. And I need to have the hosting where I can install it. Does anybody know of a free web hosting where I can use it to install a SSL certificate from Let’s Encrypt. I won't be hosting anything really, I only need it to redirect subdomains using https. Or is there a another simple way I can do this?

I'm not sure if this belongs in the networking section of the forums but it's gaming related so here it is. My friends and I like to play games that require one of us to host a private server to help keep it exclusive to us. Minecraft for example. We all live in different locations with differing internet speeds with one of them having somewhat slower internet compared to the rest. I was wondering if it mattered who was the host of the server. Would the person with lowest internet connection benefit if the person with the internet were to host? And would the person with the lowest internet connection benefit at all from the person with the highest end computer hosting or would that only affect server lag stuff?

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I want to have a few Virtual Machines on my server for ISPConfig and WebHosting, and also a KVM Machine with GPU Passthrough for occasional gaming. I know that for the VM with GPU passthrough, I will probably use KVM with Virt-Manager as I saw in my research but for the rest, I don't know if I should use VirtualBox or Virt-Manager. I did some research and didn't have any appropriate answer. This is why I am coming here. Thanks a lot

Looking for any advice/recommendations for a server host. The goal is to be able to host a Minecraft server for a couple friends to play on and a Rust server simultaneously. Is this a bad idea?

I've been wanting to build a simple website for fun with an actual domain and Namecheap stands out to me as a cheap offering. I also want to use said domain instead of the freedns I am currently using for connecting to my home servers. Is Namecheap "too" cheap? Their offering looks good but is it worth paying more for a potentially better product from a competitor? Also, is it even possible to use the domain for both a website on their platform and also point it back to my home server (I know a domain can't point to two IPs but perhaps there could be a redirect based on port?) https://www.namecheap.com/hosting/shared/

Hello all, I have my own domain, and a fast internet connection with a static public IP address. My domain has A-entries in place for WWW and MAIL (mail.mydomain.com) and it has MX records for mail as well. My question is, can I host multiple HTTPS websites on my single IP address? I already have a site with a Let’s Encrypt certificate that works, but when I go to mail.mydomain.com it just takes me to my website. How would I configure my network to take you to the mail site when you go to mail.mydomain.com? The website and mail server website are running on different servers. Any help is appreciated. This stuff is breaking my brain a bit.
