Designing a sine wave generator with a quad opamp chip I have lying around "lm324", and while studying this topic (below: schematic I'm trying to understand, particularly the + and - labels) http://www.learningaboutelectronics.com/images/Function-generator-circuit.png I keep stumbling across the terms Inverting Voltage and +v, -v, and ground. Typicaly in electrical engineering + refers to positive, and ground or - refers to negative. Reading the opamp circuit diagram below, the + and - inputs look like both positive polarity. Where do I get or generate the Vcc for pins 4 and 11 above? While you are at it, where do I get the Mathematic Models to decide on resistor values?

Budget (including currency): | Currency | US Dollar | Budget |$2k-$4k Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: | Main Objective | Have it last for many years with a lot of use and good care. Little need for upgrades since many pcs now, especially mine, are becoming outdated. (Explained below if curious) | Uses | Art Programs (video editing hobby, visual novel hobby, etc), Large Mod Loads (Minecraft with over 15+ mods for world builds, Sims with folders of added custom made content), General Gaming (playing FF14, Valkyria Chronicals, Monster Hunter, etc), Future Streaming (Streaming art and some gaming with 2D model) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): | Explanation if Curious | I explained in my previous post, but incase for those who didn't see it. My current PC is over 10 years old by this point, it's an all in one touch screen ASUS pc, more so for office use than what I've put it through. My dad is insisting to get me an upgraded pc for everything I need as I use it almost on the daily with what I do; as well give the old one to mom for easier use for her work. This new pc will be used for my art career, hobbies and gaming with friends who live faraway. | Parts List | Don't have one, sadly. | When | I plan to try to hit the sales during the year when they pop up to help get everything for hopefully a lower price. Especially Black Friday. So over the course of the year more than likely. Unless I some how strike gold of luck to find all on sale at once. | Resolution | I do like to play with beautiful graphics, it's just a me thing to immerse into the game and I like doing in-game photography. It also helps for when drawing characters and cosplay to see all the details as needed. I at least ask medium quality or for the highest quality. Having it run smooth is my top priority, because it gets absolutely frustrating if it buffers and ruins the fun. | Additional Request | My dad wants all the information possible, if you can make a few separate lists of builds for the range of $2k-$4k it would help a ton. Espeically one for $2000, then a middle one like $2,500 to $3000 and last one for $4000. We want to compare and have a discussion which is the best option. Any advice involving computers and care maintenance help a ton. Thank you a whole ton, hope this isn't too demanding a request.

I recently swapped out my cpu cooler and now I have a spare wraith prism lying around. I was going to find a place to recycle it but then decided it might be a fun project to repurpose it into something else! that led me down a rabbit hole of trying to find a good resource for repurposing pc components and, unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much out there. Does anyone know of a good resource or have any ideas of their own what else I could do? I’m not interested in building another machine out of it. I’d rather turn it into a lamp or something. Thanks!

What project have you all enjoyed doing most as a techie hobby? I've had a lot of fun helping friends/family build PCs and teaching them how to solder on a little radio kit. I'm thinking of getting into voice recording to do some pro-bono work reading some book chapters for Librox. Much love all. Cheers!

CNC Project: RC Scania SO finally the CNC is in the shape to make something Love Trucks , owning a RC scaled one has always been a dream. This is the first ever 3D model i made. New to fusion 360 as well. So took a lot of time and i learnt a lot. Being a little weak on the arts side modeling is difficult for me. The model made is while keeping in mind that i have to machine it as well. So the little details even which could have been easily included were ignored. The very prominent is, this cabin is fixed with the front and bumpers etc ... Biggest issue in copying was that i had no blue-print and of course, Amateur skills Next will be readying the cabin/ sanding painting and after that will start working on the electronics and mechanics. Finishing and stuff like that will be done in the end. P1 P2

So im currently hosting a teamspeak 3, csgo and minecraft server on my old HP 8200 compaq. That works fine. But is it possible to also make a steam cache server on the same server - on windows ? If not on windows, do you think the 2cores is enough for a VM linux server?

I have an Intel Xeon Platinum 8176 that I'd like to turn into a keychain. Every tutorial I've been able to find is either for super old CPUs or they put a hole very close to the edge of the PCB which I have had bad experiences with. I have previously made my first SSD into a keychain, but it snapped off my keyring very quickly. I'm also open to other projects I could do with this chip.

Hi! For my entire life i have been using a 5$ multimeter and i am sick of it, i want to throw that junk away, but sadly it's my only one. Because of this i have been saving up my pocket money (i haven't had lunch for a month) to get a new one. Yesterday i was searching multimeters on my local electronics shop website (dac.ge) when i came across this specific unit Sinometer DM88. I think it has all the functions i need for the time being. The Webpage: https://dac.ge/?en&act=product&prodid=2097 75GEL is around 28USD. I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Hello everyone! Alright, so I have a cheap instrument amplifier that I'm fixing up and making a new case for. It's a three knob amp, with one each of volume, tone, and gain. For some reason, they are all B100k pots. I'm already replacing the volume pot but I'm not sure about the gain. Should the gain be a linear or log (or even anti-log) pot? I think I found one post somewhere that said log, but I wanted to ask the only forum I've actually gotten help on before. Thanks everyone! (If this is the wrong place for this, let me know and I can move it over.)

I would like to see a video on universes clash of Marvel vs DC (2 motherboards in 1 super case modded out) fighting to control the entertainment universe as we know it...using 2019 best pc equipment. Using Jarvis vs bat computer design for the motherboards modding if possible as an added feature. holograms would be cool too. arc reactor bat signal holograms. If the video does more then 3 million hits or then give it to one of the actual movie actors of that universe through movie trivia(while doing coffee shots) of the opposite movie universe. if its a tie they actually have to flip for it. or say the alphabet backwards, lol!!

Okay so I really need a good way of handling and storing my money (PKR) since alot of it has been disappearing these past weeks. So I thought to myself why not create a safe-atm thing with an arduino which'll also brush up my programming skills that I haven't used in a long time. The plan is to use an old steel box and add a fingerprint scanner hooked up to a pro micro (uno for prototype). The problem is that I want to enter an exact amount such as 4710 and have it output the exact notes like in this case 1000(x4) 500(x1) 100(x2) and (10x1) notes. The programming is easy but I can't figure out the mechanical layout. I've thought of using a pile of mixed notes with a color sensor (as all our notes are uniquely colored) at the top which makes the servo roll back the notes that aren't needed and rolls out the notes as they match those needed and after the money is out another servo can add back to the pile the discarded notes. The problem with this method is that it will require the pile on exact heights for the motor to properly pull/push therm. what should I do? Also as for the depositing of money, rotating the motor backwards is a very simple solution but what can I do to sense the presence of a new note? Thanks!

So I want to start a hobby business building or upgrading PCs, and I need it to sustain itself. I only make $175 a week and only during the summer. I mean, I’m 13 so... My parents would technically own the business but I would run it. Like I said, I don’t need to make a living off of it, i just want to do it as a hobby. But of course, I don’t have lots of money, so I don’t want the expenses to be too high. My main concern is what do I do about UPS (United Package Smashers) when they get to my customers computer; can I file a claim against them and win? Or is that 1k down the drain? Also, should I get a warranty for all my parts incase I accidentally break a part?. And last thing: What’s the cheapest way to run a website without having to deal with the absolute shatty templates like the one Google My Business gives you?

Hey! I thought I would ask here, since I'm kind of out of the loop on this stuff and I'm trying to do something new. I'm a digital artist so far, not professional or anything, just hobby, and after seeing people on youtube animate, I kind of want to do that too. I tried Adobe programs, however, that was really confusing and I have no basis in it, so completely lost at what anything is or how to do anything. Is there some animating programs that are a bit simpler for animating sakes? Mostly hobby and to start at something and eventually grow and get better at it. thanks for your time!

I am currently a high school student and I am looking for a new laptop. I do activities and have hobbies that require a decent laptop but I have a budget constraint. Use Case: -Debate (requires heavy multitasking) -Light 3d Modelling for 3d printing for DIY projects -Occasional Gaming -Studying and Homework -Light Video Editing; 1080p video about 10 minutes long on average Requirements or Preferences -1080p screen, I don't need anything higher but I do want something Full-HD -Doesn't have to be an ultrabook but shouldn't be too thick -A decent battery life, something 5 hours+ should be fine -Anywhere from 13" to 15.6" will do. -Dedicated GPU would definitely be appreciated (if not needed) Target Specs: CPU: 6th to 8th Gen Core i5 dual-core or 3rd to 5th Gen Core i7 or i5 Quad Core GPU: Something like a GTX 1050 or GTX 970m or something, I'm okay with going a bit lower over here. RAM: At least 8GB, more isn't needed but expandability would be nice Budget: About $500 *I am perfectly fine with buying used. Something like a couple of years old high-end laptop will do just fine Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

How is everyone doing? Any new things happening in life? Things you're excited about? Things you're looking forward to? New job? New hobby? I recently started a second MSP job on top of my current one to help buy a motorcycle. Anyone else doing anything stupid? Fun? Crazy? Weird? Interesting?

I am trying to figure out how to make an action camera mounted on the outside of a vehicle to a computer inside of the vehicle, I am planning on using this Vehicle for Airsoft and the camera is going to be in a custom enclosure. I can run cables to it if needed. I was thinking of using this camera: https://tinyurl.com/4K-Action-Camera I also am trying to figure out how to make the camera stream to a screen while recording. If you have any suggestions they would be appreciated, Thanks

I have a RFID-RC522 hooked up to an Arduino so I can read RFID tags. I would like to be able to use the NFC in my iPhone to be read by the reader and have it do something based on the programming. Is this possible or do I need to get a NFC reader? Apple has the API released to use the NFC in an iPhone called Core NFC so I should be able to code the NFC on my phone.

Hello one and all, I am currently working on a home server / NAS system for the family. Specs are not a problem, but what i am having trouble figuring out is what OS to use. I am hoping to be able to use the server as a server, and not just a NAS, hosting test servers etc. for hobby work. The Main function of the server is going to be network attached storage - is it possible to use an OS such as Windows Server or just a standard windows OS to host a NAS in the way that FreeNAS would? Or am i going to have to ditch the hobby bit and just use FreeNAS? Thank you for reading this and i would be interested in finding out what home server's you've got if you've got one. So far i've been given a £300 budget, along with anything i can spare for a couple months in order to build the box. Thank you and Kind Regards, ~Lucas Madden

Hey, so I used to be really into the RC hobby when I was younger but I switched when I was probably 15 to computers since both are expensive hobbies, computers can be useful for more things, and so I left the RC hobby. I'm really interested in getting back into it but I'd feel weird driving an RC car as a 24 year old male by myself. I was wondering if anyone on here was in the greater Boston area or knew of any groups in the area I could talk to?

Hello everyone and greetings from Mexico. My name is David, currently i am 19 years old and I am studying big data at a local univeristy called "Tec de Monterrey". Lately technology has been one of the topics i enjoy to talk about and I have considering starting a cannel in which i can explain terms in a funny way or to show gadgets i find in stores or online that i consider interesting. First of all, i wont copy the style of anyone making videos out there, because that wouldn´t be fair and it is not my intention, i want to have my own personallity and being recognized for myself. The thing is, because i am a student i don´t have a job and my Budget is very restricted and second, college consume most of my time. In a couple of days i will end my current semester and finally will have some free time. If anyone out there could recommend me a video editor software, i would appreciate it. My laptop has the following specs: Intel core i7 6500u at 2.5ghz, 8gb of ddr3l ram, amd r5 m335 gpu and 1tb hdd (i will ask an ssd to my parents for christmas). For camera i have two, a Panasonic HDC-HS20 (records at 1080p) and a Canon SX170 IS, also my iPhone 6 if that is considered a camera. But what worries me the most is not being capable of buying products due to my limited Budget, so if anyone could help me with ideas of what i can do to get started without breaking the bank, he or she will have my total grattitude. Thank you for Reading and have a nice day.
