I recently acquired an Intel DQ67EP, LGA 1155/Socket H2 Motherboard for building a pfSense/opnSense router. It came with an Intel i3-2120 already installed. The CPU i3-2120 does not have AES-in which pfSense will require after its 2.5 version (I know there are conflicting reports about this but I want it to be future proof). Possible cpu's for replacement are (low TDP a must have). Both cpu's are on the mobo recommended list: Xeon E31260L : 4 cores, 8 threads, 45W http://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/spec/SR00M.html 2. i5-2500S : 4 cores, 4 threads, 65W http://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/spec/SR009.html I removed the cpu fan but the existing cpu is blocked by a passive heatsink. See attached pic. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to remove that metal plate without breaking the mobo or something in the house. And I have been searching youtube, google for the last week. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

So there are white stuff on top of my gpu heatsink. I personally think that it's somekind of corossion and I don't know how to get rid of it. I've tried some metal solutions but nothing works. Have any suggestions? Thx in advance

So my Mobo caught on fire a little while back, and i accidentally left the back bracket for the Hyper 212 rgb on it, i tried on several occasions to call the best buy and see if they could hold it for me, unfortunately the best buy is a bit far away from me, and i worked all week AND they would NEVER answer their phone i spent a good hour every day on hold. So with that, where do i find a similar AM4 bracket to replace it? I dont know necessarily what to look for! thanks for the help in advance

Hi, I have purchased a Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1TB) SSD because I wanted one to store games and it just so happened that the M.2 was on sale. I was wondering, do I need to buy a heatsink for it? I have read that they can get hot under certain conditions however I wanted to check to see if it would be worth while spending the extra £10 on a heatsink. I will be using the drive as a boot drive, to store games, to edit videos/pictures (every once in a while) and to record musical instruments such as guitar. Thanks in advance.

I have this very basic motherboard MSI B450 Pro M2 V2. it dosent have any heatsink on VRMs. I bought it for Ryzen 1600 and it was budget oriented and was sufficient for this processor. but now when I upgraded to 2700x my VRM tempretures stered to rise above 100 c sometimes it cross 120 c with PBO on and everything on auto in Bios. I knew its not good for the long run since I do rendering on it it needed proper cooling on VRM I wanted temps below 80c for it on continues run. so I installed my old P4 chipset heatsink for it. I will go through the process in the video below.

Sorry for not adding the question to the title, but I have multiple questions and Toshiba support wasn't able to answear any of my questions. But for now I would start with the question I want to be answeared asap. So basically I own the laptop mentioned in title, but the problem is I cannot find what maximal TDP can the laptop handle. Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi So yesterday my trusty old gaming pc started acting up. It started with a crash a "blue-screen" and when I googled my erro-code and it said that i had some temperature problems. At first i didn't think much of it as my computer had been running for like 24 hours so i wasn't very surprised so i just rebooted it and kept on playing. Six hours later this happened again so i thought for myself: It has been a few months since i last cleaned the case. So I did. Used and airspray to clean out everything. The radiator to the cpu fan was filled with dust buildup so I cleared that put everything back where it was before. Then booted up the pc this time i entered the BIOS to see if I could turn up all my fans to the max which I did all of the fans are working and the cpu cooler fan is running at 6900rpm but even though the fans were all running at max speed I still could see that my cpu was idling at 80 degrees C in the BIOS. I then turned the pc off and waited a couple of hours before turning it back on again. When I later turned it back on started my pc got into OS and did some stress tests, such as playing games and so on. After like 15 mins of playing rainbow 6 siege I looked at my temps noticed that they were at about 90 degrees C. Immediately turned the pc off as I was scared i was gonna fry the CPU. After this I figured it might be the thermal paste that has gone old as I know you're supposed to replace the thermal paste from time to time. So I went to a pc-repair shop and bought Cooler Masters High performance Thermal compound HTK-002. I removed my heatsink and removed all of the old thermal paste residue with paper towels and rubbing alcohol. Took the new thermal paste but a small "bean" on the cpu put the heatsink back on, spread the thermal paste around for a bit then lightly screwed on the heatsink. Now with new thermal paste, no dust in the case good airflow and all fans working on max my pc still starts at 30 degrees C and in the course of just 30 seconds of idling goes up to 90+ degrees C. What can I do? What have I done wrong? SPECS Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A CPU: Intel Core I5-4690K 3.5GHz GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 6gb RAM: 16 GB ddr3 CPU COOLER: Old corsair hydro cooler with 1 fan on the radiator EDIT: I want to specify that while all of this has happened ive felt on the heatsink and on the rest of the case/on CPU and it has always felt cold to the touch but the CPU still overheats. EDIT2: Also sorry if my english is bad. English is not my first language.

Hi everyone, While cleaning my PC I tried to dislodge my heatsink from my cpu/mb however the processor came with it. It appears to be completely stuck to the heatsink. (Old model) Now I can't seem to get it off. Tried heat and alcohol but to no succes. Can also not clip it back in because the lock collides with the heatsink. (AM3+ socket) Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hey! I was just wondering (if even possible) if I could change this crappy optiplex 9020 cooler. It gets REALLY hot when playing games with a 1050ti. I don’t know if its motherboard has a different size place to screw in the cooler, and I can’t install a backplate having no access to the back of the case, any help (or links) will be greatly appreciated! As the title says heatsink on a heatsink and it be done? My ps4 (first revision) heats like a oven so I have opend it up and saw the heatsink to be quite small for the heat it has to handle. If I use a thermal pad and put a heat sink over it and use a bigger fan dose of help anyway?

My specs: MOBO: MSI Z270 Gaming M3 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 windforce OC 3GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance CMK16GX4M2A2133C13 (2x8) CPU: i5 7600k 3.8Ghz 6Mb PSU: Corsair CX750M 750W Cpu Liquid Heatsink: Corsair Hydro h100i V2 My problem: The CPU liquid heatsink fans go at full speed after a couple seconds the system has been started and they won't stop running full speed. When this happens the "corsair" led start flashing. If I go into the bios I can press on the DC button to stop them so I think the connection with the mobo Is fine. I've also cleaned from dust and replaced the thermal paste, nothing changed. I've installed and uninstalled multiple times the pc drivers just I can't find online actually working drivers for dissipation. As you can notice from the first photo i attached to this thread the mobo doesn't recognize that in that usb slot there Is the heatsink cable.

Howdy! I've had this computer for 2+ years and it has been working fine. Brought it back to the house one day and I boot it up and notice the fans are running real fast, restart the system and I get the above error on the American Megatrends page. I've made sure my cpu heatsink is secure, one screw is missing but it has ran find up to this point, and replace the thermal paste. After applying new thermal paste it ran okay but after a restart it was back to overheating, 70+ degrees Celsius in BIOS and 90+ when on home screen. All fans are working. Would super appreciate any help. Cpu: i5-7600k Heatsink: Corsair hydro series h100i v2 Motherboard: ASUS Strix H270F

Hey there. I want to replace my current heatsink fan with a fan with RGB. My current cooler is the Arctic Freezer 33 Esports one with an Arctic BioniX F120 on it. Now my question: Do I have to use a specific fan with specific static pressure, RPM etc. or does any fan work, as long as it supports PWM? And I'd appreciate any recommendations! Edit: And would a Corsair ML120 Pro work for this heatsink? Thanks in advance, Meridian.

Hello people. I was wondering if any user of a Gigabyte Rtx 2060 Gpu has been able to find an aftermarket air cooling solution for this card as it does not seem to be compatibñe with ani of the Arctic Cooling accelero Heatsink and Fan combo, nor with the Rajintech MORPHEUS Heatsink... Has anyone found an alternate to the stock fan/heatsink? Any help will be much appreciated. Best regards. Mike.

I bought a XPG SX8200 Pro SSD which came with a heatsink. The heatsink is red and my build has a white theme so it would look really ugly. Is it ok to use this SSD without the heatsink or would it overheat? Thanks!

Hi there, apologies if your first post being a tech problem is considered bad manners. I've got a ROG Strix b360-I motherboard, I've previously tried to mount two heatsinks and had no luck with a cheap push-pin one but was able to mount an old stock intel one that pushed through from the rear side. I am now trying to mount a cryorig C7G but am having the same problem that from the cpu-side I cannot get the screws to both line up with the mounting holes and all go through. Never had such problems before and it's too specific a problem to easily find guidance on it. Any thoughts? EDIT: attached image with cooler on wrong side to show how it lines up but they do not go through.

Iam a latitude e7440 owner.(i5 4310 cpu with hd 4400 onboard gpu) While searching on the net to make my device run cooler i came across with this topic; Dell Community Forum The heatsink on the first message there apperently a redesigned one to not touch the what appears to be the northbridge(my source; that topic- chip on the right in my pic.) My laptop has the old design one which has the surface area to cover both chips. I tested to see if newly designed heatsink really helps cpu temp. by repasting mine but leaving the northbridge chip without paste thus decreasing the contact with heatsink and that resulted in avg. 3-4 degree celcius lower cpu temp. At the end my question is that if dell left that northbrige chip too hot in favor of lower cpu temp? I am worried if i just buy the redesigned heatsink and some time later some other problems comes up becauae of an overheating northbridge chip.

Hey guyz Sorry for my bad english.. I have a x58 base system.. having an x5670 overclocked at 4.2ghz at 1.38v and 8 gb ddr3 ram with thermal take smart 650 watt psu.. i really want that higher .. like 4.5 ghz.. but i cant.. i have a masterair ma410p cooler which is a mid range cooler.. and can't up the voltage more than 1.4v which is still a little bit toasty.. the only thing i m thinking of is to take apart the whole system and clean the heatsink.. i m not talking cpu cooler because i already changed the thermal paste and all that good stuff.. i m talking about the heatsink attached directly to the mobo.. near cpu socket.. i saw tech yes city cleaning that and changing the thermal paste of that thing.. btw i have a asus p6t.. any help would be appreciated.. i just wanna know that is that any chance i could gain more performance by cleaning that heat sink? Because i have to take the whole pc apart for that.. -
I have an old hp I'm putting together as a simple internet browsing machine for my parents. I bought a new heat sink from amazon that is supposed to be quiet. However, I'm not 100% sure it will work. I'll have to swap the actually fan from the aluminum it came with to fit and this isnt the issue. The issue is that someone on a different ltt board said that I could potentially fry my board. I have absolutely no experience with this stuff so be very descriptive please. Both use the 4 pin plug but that's all I really know. Attached a pic of mobo incase there is a number you can pull an answer from. Thanks guys (and or girls).

I am upgrading a sff optiplex 745 and recently replaced the processor with a core 2 quad q6600. I think the cpu is running a bit hot, or at least hotter than it should for the load i am putting on it. What would be a good but cheap heatsink that would keep it cool, and fit into the super small case.

So I am about to buy AMD Ryzen 5 2600X and it will come with a heatsink for this CPU. I got a water cooling system for CPU in my pc and I am too lazy to take it out. Will I be able to use AMD CPU with not the heatsink that comes with it?
