I'm looking to find other people who might own a Laptop equipped with an I7-7700HQ. I've got the Gigabyte P55v7, which has an I7-7700HQ / GTX 1060 6GB / 16GB RAM. Now from what I have been seeing, IDLE temps for this processor span between 40's to high 50's. I'm getting anywhere between 50 - 60 IDLE and for a Laptop (I'm not as experienced with Laptops) if these Temps are considered safe. I haven't tested this current model as I just got it back after going through RMA with another, but suggestions? I am currently undervolting -125. I do have a Laptop cooling pad, and some extra cooling. I'm more interested in knowing if these Temps are considered "safe".

Hi guys, I use memory 2133MHz because it is what my budget allowed and after researching I found that going higher is more pricey although not necessarily faster to be remarkable. I never, however, thought that the higher the RAM speed, the hotter the CPU would be. I read abou5 this on Facebook and I am not so sure this is true, so I came here to be enlighten by the real pros. Thanks for your help in advance.

So, I have recently created a built that includes an AMD A10-9700. I use the stock cooler, but I have applied my own thermal compound (After cleaning off the factory applied stuff obviously). And, oddly enough, the APU idles at around 60c and when in the BIOS, it climbs up to 67-68 and stabilizes itself there. Any good reasoning behind this? Also, this was a problem before I switched out of the factory compound.

I have an i3-6100 and a GTX 980Ti. I use the stock Intel cooler and my graphics card is a reference model. I want to convert to mITX and am wondering what kind of temperatures I may expect with the Elite 130. How good is the cooling? Is there proper airflow?

My notebook have intel i5 6200u(hp w103dx) but i also like to game on it so only way to get playable frame rate is on high performance mode(not even balance mode),I use it all the time while playing. it does produce lots of heat but i have laptop cooler which pumps fresh air from beneath, while playing BF1(campaign only) max noted temp was 74C, now my only concern is i use it like this for straight 4 to 5 hours, will it effect it in long run, will it decrease the performance overtime because it basically running in turbo mode all the time, or worse is there a chance it will totally fry ? I dont want to risk my only laptop. Thanks in adv.

My razer blade stealth 2017 feels pretty hot to the touch. This is my first ultrabook so is it normal for it to reach these temperatures/what is considered "normal" temp? Any help on how I can reduce the heat? In the beginning of the test I ran a game and the rest of it is just using YouTube. Do you recommend sending it to Razer so they can check it out or fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. stealthheat.jpg-large

This issue is driving me nuts, i had this laptop Toshiba Satellite L755 for over 4 years now, it has an Intel Core i7-2670QM processor, Nvidia Geforce GT 525M and 8GB of RAM, i never had any overheating issues or sudden shutdowns, i used to play the infamous game Rust on it without any issues, i traveled somewhere and left my laptop home for like 10 months or so, when i came back and turned it on, it started shutting down, i wasn't running any games, but it kept shutting down, so i formatted it and installed the latest driver updates, and before that i disassembled it and cleaned whatever i could clean, applied new thermal paste after wiping the old one, turned it on, surprise surprise, still shutting down, but mostly when i'm launching a game or doing some heavy work on it with the Turbo Boost enabled, i thought to myself, maybe it's the overheating that's causing this, so i tested the stability of my CPU and GPU using AIDA64, ran the stability test on both of them for 30 minutes, be aware that i disabled my Turbo Boosting before this, the results were incomprehensible, the temperature of the CPU got to around 98-99 Celsius, the GPU was around 85 Celsius, the CPU was throttling pretty hard, but it didn't shutdown, like never, even with that extreme temperature, i concluded as any sane person that the overheating isn't the culprit here, so my second test was to check if my issue is caused by power supply somehow, i went into the bios, looked for something related to the CPU's power consumption and its speed, i set it to minimum, this meant less power consumption and a slower system, really slow, i restarted my laptop, it's slower, but it's not shutting down anymore, and of course i can't run any games because they would lag as hell, so after this i got to the conclusion that maybe the motherboard is the culprit, that when it's under heavy work, meaning more power consumption, something on it fails and triggers a system shutdown. So what do you guys think ? is it a failing motherboard ? a failing hard disk ? i ran some Intel tools and my CPU passed all the tests, my GPU isn't reporting any issues, maybe a failing fan ? i suspect the hard disk. If you guys have any tests i can run that would help me find the cause of my suffering i'd appreciate it, thanks in advance.

does anyone know (who has) a 1080 what my temps should be at idle mine are sitting at about 90 degrees but i dont know what they should be

Hey, Is it a problem if my CPU goes to almost 99° celsius? Does it affect my performance? Should I clean all the dust or stay lazy?

I'm rocking the system seen in my signature. biostar is awful when it comes to bios updates. they released their agesa 1.0.0.6 or whatever for memory compatibility late june while everyone else had it much earlier. nonetheless i have updated to it, and no i can get my memory to run at 2933mhz no problem. before i couldn't get anywhere above 2133. huge improvement with a nice performance bump in all applications. hopefully one day i can run at and above the rated 3200mhz that my kit is rated for. either way, when i updated the bios, amd ryzen master software started acting differently. instead of not needing to restart upon setting the overclock, it now does. and now with the same 3.9ghz overclock (on stock voltage, w00t!) that i've been putting on for months, i am running 10c hotter at idle and under load. i used to idle at 40 - 45. now its 50 -55. i have turned up my h80i fan rpm from 800 to 1000 to help cool things down better, but it's still higher than it was before. nothing else with the system has changed. is anyone experiencing a similar thing, and is there any way to bring the temps back down without removing the overclock?

Hi, We are creating 3d enviroments and rendering them so we just bought more servers to speed up the rendering, put them in a small room (about 3x5 meters - 190sqft), but it gets too hot in there with the AC that this office building we are in has. We would need about 7-8kW / 25.000 BTU cooling capacity (the current setup would require about 4kW / 15-18.000 BTU, but in the future we are planning to add more servers). I saw some good AC units that is for home use mainly for about a $1000, 7-10kW, but we don't render 24/7, so i think it would handle our server room as well. What do you think? Should we somehow create airflow that moves fresh air into the room, is it necessary, or a simple AC unit is enough? (it would be pretty hard in our situation to create good airflow) Portable cooling systems are too expensive for us, around $1200 is our budget if it's possible to do it with that amount. The other thing is that on the shorter wall (3m - 10ft) are windows, 2m / 7ft tall. We were planning on putting some reflective film on the windows because the sun heats up the room, but then we have less money for the AC. Do you think it is worth it? What would you do in this situation, and in a situation where money is not a problem? Thanks!

overheating Temps in the 90s, normal yesterday
justpain posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi, I'm on: i5-7600K MSI Z270 SLI PLUS 16GB 3200 RAM from Corsair EVGA GTX 1080 SC NZXT S340 Elite CPU Cooler is a Corsair H115i WIndows 10 Ok, so I was using my computer yesterday and it was fine. However, now when I turn it on the CPU Temps seem to jump up to between 80 and 90 degrees Celsius while idle. I have removed my custom overclock and re-applied the thermal paste. I'm even running the chassis open to promote airflow. No substantial changes. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? Update: Pump RPMs for H115i is at zero. That's probably it but I don't know if it's because the pump is dead or if its not reading properly. -
So i've seen a lot of reviews of the core x series processors from linus, bitwit, gamersnexus, and hardware unboxed. the general consensus is that they perform as you'd expect, but they consume way more power and put out a ton more heat than the last gen chips and even ryzen. many 7900x chips get way too hot with even a little bit of voltage added. and the power usage goes through the roof. hardware unboxed's 7900's load power went from the mid 200ws to over 400 with lots of thermal throttling. he said it best where if you plan to overclock, you had best consider doing a full custom loop to keep it from cooking itself. the 7740x is just an even hotter running 7700k. is intel purposely making delidding mandatory? amd can use solder for their processors that cost less and use less power. why is intel being such a money grabber this generation? i'm so glad i went amd when i did.

I constantly hear my cooler's fan (stock AMD cooler) ramping up and down during gaming. I never see any frame drops though, and according to HWMonitor it never thermal throttles always at full turbo 3.9GHz (stock 3.7GHz but its never here) and some times goes out of spec in to 4GHz land. But what really worries me is that HWMonitor states a 90+ Celsius on package and I've never seen it lower than 80. AMD Overdrive more or less tells the same story but with thermal margins being 2-15 degrees at all times but again no throttling. the only place I've seen reasonable temps in is the bios (41) but for obvious reasons I take that with a grain of salt. its not the mounting or paste either as I've put new paste on and made sure the heat sink was on properly but at best it was 1-2 degrees difference, so nothing significant. So am I missing something? Should I get a new cooler (aftermaket at this point)? Or am i just worrying for nothing? EDIT 1: Forgot to mention I have 4 case fans and the CPU is an Athlon x4 860k with a gtx 980

Hello My computer is in a decent sized room but it heats up the room to 100+ degrees fahrenheit and i am sweating and cant handle it anymore i was wondering if you could help me find a solution to cooling my room that isn't over 500 USD (ik i am poor)

I seem to have a well big problem; I am using the system in my signature and I was travelling today with my PC and after unpacking I hooked everything and when I the PC started the fans started spinning like crazy and I started to panic the CPU temps were 85+ I immediately shut it down and left it for an hour then when I powered it back on , the motherboard showed me a CPU temperature error so I went into the BIOS same thing so I decided remove my cooler and remove the CPU and put it all back, but I don't have any paste and I was using the one pre-applied on the Kraken ;however, I did it anyway. After starting the PC again initially I did not see the CPU temperature error or hear the fans ; however when monitoring the temps in the ASUS Suite the CPU was hovering between 50C-70C for like 15 minutes and now it is down to 35C which is pretty similar to what I had before travelling. Although the fans keep ramping up every minute for a couple of seconds and then stopping and I don't get why they spikes What I need is advice should I get me some thermal paste (all I can get for the next couple of month is some weird brand called Manhattan thermal compound idk how good it is) and reapply ? OR just stick with what I did and hope nothing goes wrong ? I really want to OC my 7700k to at least 4.5GHz but am afraid to do anything because of what happened. Please Help.

hello, i got a question about the amd athlon x4 880k. I got one of them in my pretty new system (3 month old) and i wonder if its normal that the temp of the cpu is about 50C under 30% load. and today aftert playing gta v it went staight up to 85C. the heatsink im using is the stock one that came with the cpu.

I am at the moment mining with two GPUs, a 1080ti and a 1080. I want these cards to last as long as possible so after looking into things I think I understand that heat is the main cause of cards dying early with Bitcoin mining, so i have a fan curve set up to keep both of my cards at 60c. So what else can cause my cards to have a short life.

Hey guys, hopefully this is the correct place for my question..if not i'm happy to move Quick question; various people mention some heat issues with the Asus ROG GL502vs/m series. However, they often mention them in connection to benchmarks that will obviously push your system to its very limits. So, does anyone have experience with the Asus GL502VS-GZ223T and can tell me whether the heat, under normal load and/or normal gaming, is an actual issue? I'm asking because most reviews on amazon are really outstanding and they seem to have fixed the power supply problem with shipping a more capable/adapter (230w i believe) too. Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany, Muckel

Hi all, I'm going on break soon and have plenty of time to enjoy myself to game after a long hard quarter. I have a dell xps 15 , and I'm playing quite a lot of low spec games like visual novels and psp/roms ported games. However these games comes at a high cost to storage space. My original C drive space is 200g, but I mainly wanna save this space for school work applications and don't wanna clutter it during school with games and other distracting applications. So I knew when I was younger, I put starcraft 1/halo 1 on a usb 2.0 stick and played them together at LAN parties, but is this a viable solution to play games? Should I be getting a external hard drive dedicated to games? Is there a speed threshold I should aim above now like usb 3.0+ or thunderbolt? How about heat? Is cooling an issue, I've noticed my usb devices get quite hot with data transfers. Thanks!

Hi there. So I was just wondering if the exhaust of my pc/cpu water cooler, which is right next to my monitor, would damage my monitor. Here's my setup, so you can see what I mean: https://goo.gl/photos/v9SSBjBTNrjxJHkq9 my CPU reaches about 60 when gaming or rendering videos Thanks in advance.

In February last year I built up a new iCore 7 system to use for After Effects/Premiere/Maya and recreational gaming. You can view the parts here. (The ARC-1220 raid card is from 2008, pulled it from an old video editing Xeon workstation and it's running the four Hitachi GST Deskstars on a RAID5) It's running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. All the parts are sitting in a massive server case I got years ago. The system has run more or less rock solid till now. A few months back I moved across state, apart from moving I don't really transfer this system around, it is to massive to bother. After the move the system still did it's job and everything seemed peachy until this month. I started noticing issues while playing Overwatch and running Discord, at first it was weird little things like switching the audio device used from my Scarlett 2i2 to a HDMI audio device, or just have audio stop functioning all together, then it would do things like when I booted up my computer Overwatch would crash on launch but would be fine on a restart, at one point I had to repair the game install. Then it started doing BSOD and memory dumps. And at some point it kept giving me errors that Nvidia shield had stopped working and if you clicked 'close program' the error would just pop up again. At this point I couldn't functionally use the system so after a few days were I just left it off and binge watched cartoons trying to forget about my computer I pushed up my sleeves and started some serous trouble shooting. First I tried uninstalling the GTX 970's drivers so I could do a fresh driver install, but I keep running into issues and ended up manually removing them in regedit, while that seemed to fix the Nvidia shield issues I kept getting memory dumps (non-stop dumps) I tried doing a Windows repair and a Windows rollback but that didn't seem to work, so I went for the old Windows 7 re-install, I figured maybe I got some kind of nasty virus. ...and I was getting memory dumps in the Windows installation program that loaded off the DVD. Have you ever had a memory dump in the menu of the Install a fresh copy of windows screen? I've never got one before this. I removed all the non-essensial parts, pulled out the Raid card and the Intel 750 SSD and plugged in just one monitor and just a basic keyboard and mouse. I pulled the GTX 970 in case it was bad and popped in a Radeon HD 6500 that was in a duel core internet connected potato. Then on several attempts to install I got an error that windows was unable to expand the installation files after copying them to the SSD (I was using the Samsung 850 PRO for the OS drive) I flashed the BIOS with the latest available from the ASUS site but that didn't seem to help. After some more googling I made a bootable Memtest86 flash drive and went to test the system memory. I got A LOT of errors. I was able to isolate a good pair that ran through Memtest86 4 or 5 times over about 12 hours without getting errors. After that I was able to install windows and things seem to be running better (but I still haven't added the Raid card or the Intel 750 or the GTX 970) However it seems really weird that something like memory would just randomly fail after working stably for 9-10 months. Looking over my components I have no idea why I have poorly reviewed 600w power supply for this system. I feel like I must have been drunk or something when I added that to my build, it's not even that cheap. Over the course of the trouble shooting I had a very real fear that the CPU or motherboard was damaged and the bad RAM still seems really odd to me, RAM shouldn't just go bad should it? Unless there is some kind of voltage issue with the power supply or mobo. So I looked into some more stability tests that would let me push the voltage, CPU and motherboard and I settled on Prime95, before I got that though I got CPUID HWMonitor to keep track of my system. When I started running Prime95 I noticed the CPU temps getting up to 77 C after only a few minutes of testing. I looked up the TCase for my CPU and Intel lists it as 66.8 degrees Celsius. My reading suggested running Prime95 for at least 12 hours to get a good idea of stability but if it pushed my CPU ten degrees past the recommended temps in only a few min I just didn't feel very comfortable running it overnight. While I don't think Overwatch would ever push all 12 threads to 100% use I do process video regularly (but it's animation so it's short chunks) so my computer will regularly be at 100% CPU capacity for little 10-20 min chunks of time. Is it possible that some kind of CPU malfunction could have damaged the RAM? Is ten degrees over recommended TCase specs in the first few minuets actually something to worry about? Could my PSU just be having voltage issues because I have to much stuff in my system for it to power? Is it possible my CPU heat sink got bumped in the move and now it's not cooling to spec? Is my cooler just not powerful enough? I really need a stable After Effects rig for freelance work, and I also need this to be a stable Maya rig for school work so let me know if you have any incite, at one point I was considering pulling the PSU, Mobo, RAM and CPU and replacing it will heavy duty Xeon stuff with ECC support just for piece of mind, but after more trouble shooting that seems excessive. But I am still thinking of maybe getting a new PSU and a new CPU cooler, do you think that is a good idea? If you actually managed to read all of that, thank you, I would appreciate any advice.
