  1. I'm using an old PowerMac G4 quicksilver as a case. To preserve the look, I only want to mod the back and bottom. I'm contemplating whether to use the Noctua NH-D9L to exhaust out the back, or water cool with a 240 rad as an exhaust on the bottom This is about how the back would look like: *I'll probably ask the guy who's making those back replacements for something a little different to allow a bit more airflow out the back if I choose to air cool My parts list: CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D GPU: Nvidia founders 4090 PSU: CoolerMaster 850W V850 SFX Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX RAM: Corsair DDR5 32G (2x16G) 6400 CL36 Vengeance Black Any advice?
  2. So I wanted to install macOS Sonoma(?) Olarila on my HP EliteBook 840 G3. I got the 14.2.1 raw image as torrent, the Sha1’s matched. I Etchered it onto an Intenso 64 GB USB 2 AluLine Stick, replaced the original EFI files with the “official” MOD EFI files for Skylake as I have the i5-6300U variant and I managed to get to the menu offering windows, macOS and clear Nvram(?). I cleared the Nvram, it restarted, I wanted to go to macOS but I only got to a black screen showing a circle with a line in it ( just like this but in grey) and Apple.com/startup Secure boot ist disabled and I also tried with some other EFI files on Google Drive and I got the same problem. What should I do? Generic picture:
  3. Any recommendation for a super cheap mini PC that works well enough with Hackintosh? And yes, I expect used stuff, and I'm open to just parts themselves (i.e. no SSD, RAM, etc.), or any good deals out there. I just want something that performs better than a 2014 8GB Mac Mini without breaking bank.
  4. I feel that the right left hand side of laptop little bit heating my hand. it increase by the time so I tried to find it by opening the laptop. I saw a little chip which is like a processor. So, why it's overheating in Hackintosh. why not on windows and linux. It not generate to much heat at a time. The heat increase by the time. In 2-3 hour it goes around 85c degree in inside. Outside around 50c. It could damage the motherboard. Anybody can help me! to find out a solution. Please.
  5. Hi everyone, I want to install ryzentosh in my pc. Sadly, I don't have a gpu now, which I'm gonna get soon. In the mean time, is it possible to install hackintosh in my ryzen 5 3400G apu. My config is as follows: 1. CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G 2. Mainboard: Gigabyte b450 s2h 3. Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 8GB x 2 4. SSD: Adata 120GB M.2 5. HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hello! I am a noob at hackintosh and have only had one of my builds actually work(after using an idiots guide) I am attempting to do it on my laptop, and I cant get past the language select screen where I can't select anything and there is a faint apple logo in the middle. Help, Many thanks.
  7. Hello guys, I'm in a bit of a conundrum, I am in the process of getting hired to offer technical support for a company that mostly works with Mac computers. The problem is that I have never touched a Mac in my life and I really need to learn about it. So, my questions to you are: Is there any comprehensive guide to learning the ins and outs of MacOS? Also is there any way to create a virtual machine in either Linux or Windows so I can actually use the OS (I learn best by actually using the software opposed to reading about it)? Is there any way I can make a Hackintosh with my specs? My PC specs are as follows: - GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - SSD ADATA XPG Gammix S11 Pro 512GB PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280 - Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT PULSE - HyperX Predator Black 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit
  8. Budget (including currency): ~900 EUR Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Software Development (mainly iOS), Gaming (mainly RPGs like Cyberpunk, Strategy Games, a few FPS) Existing Parts: Sapphire RX6800 Nitro OC, Seasonic Focus Plus 650W, RX560 (used as graphics card in current Hackintosh), 32inch 2k MSI PS321QR, 2x Dell U2515H 2k My current Build is a 8700k, with an ASUS Prime Z270-A, 32GB DDR4-3000 and above Graphic Cards. Most of it would be inherited by my wife, who could use a "new" PC for her home office work. I'm also using a 2018 MBP for work on the road and in my companies office, so I'm not 100% reliant on a working hackintosh, although I would prefer to keep one, since the performance gain compared to the macbook is highly noticeable. Safest bet for a well working hackintosh right now is probably some kind Z470 board with an 10th gen intel processor, or are there different opinions/ways to go? My old tower+cpu (and cooler)+ram would probably have to be replaced, since it probably does not make sense to buy new parts for my wifes PC, which will be mainly used for office work (and maybe later on with some kind of affordable GPU for a few games - not sure if such thing currently exists though :D) Thank you for your thoughts, input! :) - its my first posting here, but I always enjoyed reading this board! Cheers, Markus
  9. TLDR: My 2013 Macbook Pro died today. I want to dual boot my desktop PC to run MacOS 11 or 12. My hardware is not the best for a hackintosh. Would love advice/assistance/etc from those with experience. Current System: Windows 10 Home Intel i7 10700k AsRock z490 Extreme4 G Skill Trident Z RGB 2x16GB 3600 MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3070 Samsung 860 Evo SATA SSD (file storage only) Samsung 980 Evo NVME SSD (Windows boot/program drive) Samsung 980 Evo NVME SSD (this is a second drive partitioned into 500GB x2 for MacOS install and Linux install - currently empty) I'm hoping to eventually triple boot my desktop system, but right now want to start with getting MacOS working. I can already tell this is going to be difficult due to my hardware, but I'm hopeful! I want to go with OpenCore for my bootloader. I've been browsing their guides as well as TonyMacx86, the LTT Forum, and r/hackintosh. From what I can see, my biggest issues will be disabling the gpu in favor of the igpu, using the itlwm kext to hopefully get wifi and bluetooth working, and generally correctly setting up the bootloader to make everyone play nice at start-up. EDIT: Specific questions - 1. Would it be better to try starting with High Sierra instead since there is some Nvidia support (even though it still doesn't cover 30 series)? 2. Would a Linux VM to run MacOS make more sense with the hardware issues (e.g. one Linux distro installed that automagically boots into a MacOS VM on startup as suggested in the "Apple Won't Like This" LTT video)? 3. Any suggestions for a replacement laptop (hardware wise) that could run Windows and MacOS? It seems with the Apple transition to ARM there's a LOT of compatibility issues.
  10. Budget (including currency): 0 Country: EU Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: apple stuff Other details: Hi, I have some left over Hardware from my last build: ASRock H110M-ITX 8gb DDR4 2133Mhz Intel Pentium G4650 250w psu and a 2he short depth Rackable case Since I havent really done anything Hackintosh stuff to this date I was wondering whether this build would still offer somewhat performance. The Tasks I do on Mac are usally stuff like backend solutions with docker / kubernetes etc. ( I normally use a Macbook 15" 2018 for that) Maybe someone can give me a little info, which version of macos i can use, whether I should keep the current config or maybe upgrade the cpu and such. Thank you in advance
  11. any of you guys can help me i am planning on making a hackintosh build mainly for music production but on my old spare pc at home i just want to know what could be the problems that i might encounter on doing the hack also want to make sure if the hack would work or not. Here are my specs i5 2400 Acer Veriton S6610g 12Gb Ddr3 1333mhz Ram Gtx 660
  12. I want to dual boot my computer, one for windows and on macOS big sur. I have used OpenCore before but only for macOS High Sierra. HS supports my nVidia GPU but the newer versions don't. To be able to use the newer OS you have to disable the dedicated GPU with the boot argument in the config file called "-wegnoegpu". The issue that i have is when i boot and unplug the DP from my GPU and plug in to my MB it doenst post via my motherboard DP. Is there a way to keep the GPU in the MB and disable the GPU in macOS?
  13. Long time watcher, first time poster so please be gentle haha Currently trying to setup a QEMU based Hackintosh based around Foxlet's github (link) and I managed to get it working through my GUI, but i'm trying to passthrough the GPU and it spent the past 3hrs spitting out errors and refusing to boot. I managed to sucessfully execute the shell script and recieve an output on the display BUT: *big ol display error* I've checked through and confirmed all the PCIE devices in that IOMMU group are pushed into VFIO_PCI, so I don't think it's a config error I think there's probably something wrong with the parameters in my booting script (unhide spoiler for code) I'mma be real with y'all, I am waaaay in over my head. Like I understand this sorta stuff, but I am not Anthony. Anyone got any idea of where I'm going wrong, and what could fix it? I'm at a dead end...
  14. is it possible to install macos big sur with i7 3770 gigabyte h61m-s2pv rev 2.0 16 gb ddr3 hd 4000 intergrated and gtx 960 4gb discrete if it isn't can someone help with the latest version of macos that natively supports my machine sorry I'm new to this stuff
  15. So I am planning to build a Hackintosh. However, I do not have a macbook to build the bootable USB with the image file (or something similar with mac idk lol). I do, however, have a Mojave image. I was thinking if I can load this one on VMware and have build the bootable USB from there. I am open for other suggestions
  16. My parents gifted me this asus zenbook with a ryzen 5 4500u and I would love to run macOS on it. Is it possible to get proper graphic acceleration and a functional vm??
  17. Two entries of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X have been spotted on the Geekbench database. One of these entries shows the AMD processor was running on an iMac Pro and it was clocked at 6.0GHz, which is quite the impressive figure. The Geekbench database entry identifies this system an as "Acidantheria Mac," which originates from a former Hackintosh outfit called OpenCore Computer. Source 1: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/4190448 Source 2: https://hothardware.com/news/ryzen-9-5950x-hackintosh-score-geekbench Source 3: https://www.techpowerup.com/273426/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-16-core-zen-3-processor-overclocked-to-6-ghz-and-geekbenched Source 4: https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/joao-silva/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-running-on-imac-pro-overclocked-to-6-0ghz-spotted-on-geekbench/ There seems to be a mixed bag of opinions on this entry. Whether it is legitimate, and simply an extreme overclocking result / entry with exotic cooling; or not legit and perhaps an error entirely. Either way, it is interesting stuff as it means at the very least there is a possibility of better overclocking results on Air/Water with Zen 3 and the upcoming 5000-series. Something important to note, is that apparently the current LN2 record for a 3900X is 5.65GHz, therefore surpassing that by 300-400MHz is still quite an impressive feat (even if on exotic cooling).
  18. I have been building my first PC over the last several months and for the most part things work, but i have a few different issues with stability that i am having trouble tracking down. While i am running dual OS in Windows 10 and Mac OS, i don't believe it is a software/OS issue, i think it may be hardware. Specs are below: - CPU: 9900k (no OC, noctua D-15 cooler) - MOBO: Z390 Gigabyte Designare - Memory: G-Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 CL16 4x16 at XMP - GPU: Asus Strix 5700XT - PSU: Corsair HX Platinum 750W - Storage: - Windows 10 Pro on intel 660p 2TB NVME - Mac OS Catalina on Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVME Issues i have seen: - When running a GPU intensive game or benchmark in Windows it will run for about 10 mins and then shut off, after a few minutes it will reboot on its own and say that the bios was reset. Games are Ghost Recon and Destiny 2, Heaven benchmark, esports games or other less intensive games run fine. I have tried the following: - Updated to all the latest drivers and windows updates, removed all drivers and re-installed - Cleared CMOS - Since GPU temps were very high prior to crash, over 110C on thermal junction and over 90C overall i suspected that it was part of the thermal issues that Asus had with the strix model and RMA'd it, recently received a replacement and the temps are slightly better, but still have the same crashes, thermal junction still at 100C but overall at 75C. - I was able to increase the time before crash by underclocking in MSI afterburner to 1805 and 12% less power limit, but still crashed - More aggressive fan curves and fans at 100% - Tried with one 8 pin power cord with pigtails to connect to both 8 pin connectors on card as well as 2 cords with pigtails unplugged - card is in slot 2 and can't really try 1 or 3 due to the size of the cpu cooler/running into the bottom of the case - I don't have access to extra hardware to test other components - Wifi on Mac OS generally does not work if 2 monitors are attached to GPU. Wifi on Windows comes through the integrated Wifi on the MOBO and works fine, but is not compatible with Mac OS. I am using Fenvi FV-T919 card and when not using 2 monitors i get 30-50 mbps down, but as soon as i plug in or turn on a second monitor it either has no connection, or has <1mbps down. If i remove or turn off one of the monitors, it immediately goes back to 30-50. I have tried: - putting the wifi card in various 1x or 16x slots available - different wifi speeds, 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz - i do not have easy access to ethernet or i would just use that, but it does work if plugged in directly to MOBO 1 gig ethernet I assumed that the issues are not related, however i am starting to think it could be an issue with the MOBO slots? or something with power delivery? since both the wifi card and GPU are in PCIE slots on the MOBO? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, i want to make sure i try to eliminate any other potential issues before i go through another RMA on the GPU
  19. Hi I'm trying to install Catalina 10.15.7 using OpenCore 0.6.1 on the following hardware: - Asus z370-a (latest BIOS) - Intel i7 8700k - Rx590 8GB - 2x 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 - 240GB Corsair MP500 PCIe3.0 x4 NVME SSD This machine is currently running Mojave 10.14.6 via Clover 4910 but I want to perform a clean install (wipe the current SSD). I followed the guide on Dortania to create the USB installer including all kexts, config.plist, etc config.plist However, upon booting on the USB installer and selecting "macOS base system (external)" I get a (kernel?) panic (see screenshot) I don't know how to troubleshoot this. Could you please help? NOTES: The following settings are apparently absent from the BIOS and thus I couldn't change them or check whether they are set to what they should: - Parallel port (-> disabled) : there is no parallel port on this MB - Intel platform trust (-> disabled) - Execute disabled bit (-> enabled) - EHCI/XHCI hand-off (-> enabled) : I believe there are only XHCI controllers on this MB Thank you very much in advance for your help Best, -a-
  20. Hello! So I've been running an Opencore Hackintosh on Ryzen for about 2 years and, for the most part, it's been working fine. Recently though, I've run into some issues with internet drop outs and my Adobe applications are sketchy AF, so I'm looking for a more stable solution. I remember watching the "Run macOS on any PC" video from a few years ago and was hoping to get some assistance. Current build specs are as follows: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (plan to upgrade to either 3800X or 5700X) GPU: R9 380 4GB (plan to upgrade to 5600XT or 6600XT) MoBo: ASRock Phantom Gaming 4 SSD: WD Black SN750 1TB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (Time machine backup) + Seagate Barracuda 2TB (overspill/mass storage (currently empty)) I managed to get my current system up and running first time, so I'm not a total novice, but I'm looking for an easy-to-follow guide of how to get macOS running in a VM on Linux with support for Adobe apps, Ableton, and other productivity tools. I am not planning to use this for gaming at all, and I do not want to use the Linux side for anything. Ideally, booting directly into macOS would be ideal, but not essential. My main goal is to get as much performance on the macOS VM as possible while also running stably and to keep all my data from my current system. A few questions: Do I need a dedicated GPU for each OS? Will hardware acceleration work in macOS? Will I be able to restore my files from my Time Machine backup? Is there a better alternative to what I'm proposing? (I realise it's been a good few years since the LTT video came out, so maybe there's a more stable/easier way???) I'd really appreciate any guidance or suggestions! Thanks in advance
  21. Hello! I need a bit of help. I recently enrolled in a software development course, and I just found out that they recommend devices with MacOS or Linux for the program. Problem is, I just built a brand new Windows PC. So I would love some help trying to figure out how to setup my machine so that I can boot into Windows or MacOS/Linux. This may have been answered before, but I just want to figure out the best route to go. I think could figure out Linux simply enough, but MacOS seems like a different story. Now, I have an old macbook and I was wondering if I could just steal the hard drive from that, and install into my system, and update the OS. Any help would be appreciated, I feel a little bit out of depths here.
  22. Hi, My macOS VM s getting stuck before booting and I am unable to understand why. I have attached log file. Any help is much appreciated. VBox.log
  23. I built my PC in November of 2019. Parts were (originally): r5 2600, asrock b450 pro4, (2*8)16gb 3200mhz crucial ballistix, gigabyte windforce rx 560 4gb, 256gb nvme ssd, 2tb hdd. It worked just fine and I successfully used it as a hackintosh just out of curiosity. I have since upgraded from that gpu to a powercolor rx 580 8gb. I have not tried to hackboot with the 580 until last night. I wanted to check that catalina would work with the upgrade so i uninstalled by game drive and boot ssd and installed the mac hdd. I did this because i thought it would be more simple than dual booting through bios. after i plugged the hdd in it wouldnt post. fans spinning and lights on, no post. i reset the hardware back to my boot ssd and game drive and it still wouldnt boot. I panicked and borrowed my friend's pc (r3 3200g, msi b450m pro-vdh max, evga gtx 960 2gb, (2*8) 16gb gskill 3600mhz stock but running at 2666mhz for some reason) so i could troubleshoot and make sure i didnt kill my parts. First I put my 2600 in his system. Booted just fine, so the processor wasn't dead. Next I put my 580 in his system with my 2600, boot successful. I then put his 3200g in my motherboard and booted just fine with on board graphics. so my motherboard, cpu, gpu, and ram are still working. I went back to my original config and didnt boot. It seemed to be a bios issue, so I went into the bios with the 3200g and set everything to default settings and tried my 2600 again, unsuccessful. I popped out the CMOS battery and left it out overnight so it would have plenty of time to discharge (I know that probably wasnt necessary but other people online said it could take that long). I put it back in this morning but still didn't boot. Any ideas? The next step I was gonna take was updating the bios. Considering how risky that could be, are there any other options that would work?
  24. It's finally made!! Linus WE WANT THIS!! 64 CORE Threadripper 3990X Hackintosh!
