Hey guys! I've been trying to create a MacOS Mojave installer USB for my pc. For some reason, I can’t seem to boot it though. I've included below what the file directory looks like on the USB. Let me know if it looks good, or if I’m missing something there. Any other ideas on what may be going wrong would be appreciated! edit: unlike yesterday's post- this Mac is not running Catalina. It’s running High Sierra if that helps. another edit: now I’ve tried again to boot with the usb, but I’m not getting any display. The computer fires up with fans running, and the power button lighting up but now I can’t even see the BIOS or anything. Please help! thanks in advance!

Hello all, I’m trying to turn my pc into a Hackintosh running Mojave but I’m having some issues. I have downloaded the MacOS Mojave installer and used the “createbootablemedia” command on terminal on my Mac (its running Catalina fyi, so this may be why I’m having issues). My issue is that i cant download a working version of clover to mount the partition. Are there any alternatives? Thanks for the help! Also, I'm a noob at Hackintosh and am easily confused with it... edit: when i said a working version of clover, i meant that when i download version 5.4.5.0 my Mac says “Integrity Can’t Be Verified” and doesn’t give me the option to run anyway.

Hi guys,I'm planning buying new configuration for my home server. I'm gonna use it for my "VMed" OS of choice (MacOS Mojave), to run my website, and to edit videos in Final Cut Pro X and myb Windows to fireup some games(like CSGO, not demanding games). Specs: CPU x 2 - Xeon X5690 - 200$ Motherboard - DELL POWEREDGE C1100 5MV6K CN-05MV6K - 30$ RAM - Samsung 48GB (12x4GB) 2Rx4 PC3-10600 - 50$ Graphics Card - Asus ROG RX580 8GB - 300$ SSD - Samsung 260GB - 30$ Hard Drive(s) - 2TB - 50$ Motherboard probably isn't the best choice so I'm looking for for some suggestions. Anyone have experience? Tnx<3

So I'm having a super weird issue with my Radeon VII that I recently got for my Hackintosh. My Vega 64 works perfect and I've had no issues with it, but when try and replace it with the Radeon VII I ordered, it won't let me get into the bios at all which is super odd. My computer will start up and I see no display upon initial startup and I do not get the usual Gigabyte Aorus bios display screen, and only later in the boot process do I finally see output from the display and this only happens once Mac OS is almost fully loaded. I'm sure if my windows SSD was set to my primary boot device it would do similar behavior if trying to boot into windows, but my Mac OS configuration should have no bearing on me not even being able to enter the bios properly. I'm pretty stuck here and confused about what's going on. This system has been really stable for me but this one is throwing me off. Here's my full specs: delidded 8700k @5.1ghz Radeon VII/Vega 64 Seasonic 850w Prime Gold Gigabyte Aorus 5 Gaming z370 motherboard 32gb 3200mhz G.Skill Trident Z Samsung 970 evo nvme Noctua D15s cooler

Hello guys and gals! Long time lurker here, been following build threads on this forum a long time. I decided to make my own thread about my latest custom build. Earlier builds I have done have been with storebought cases, mostly Lian Li cases since I liked their design and build quality alot. Some time ago in 2016 I got a powermac g4 from the early 2000's when a friend of mine cleaned up the house after her father passed away. This macine was immaculate, had sat for lots and lots of years. The harddrive was noisy and the fans were all rattling, but everything was working perfectly-ish. It even came with the original keyboard and one button mouse. I was thinking of using all the internals, except for a new m-atx motherboard for my then i5 4690k/atx msi gaming 5/zotac gtx780/8gb ddr3 1600mhz gaming rig in a huge Lian Li case. But time went by, and the case just sat there, not doing anything. Then it came time to upgrade as the old build (no slouch tho) was beginning to show its age. I then comprised this list of hardware for my powermac build: Cpu: Ryzen 7 2700X Cooler: Corsair H60 120mm AIO Mobo: Gigabyte B450m DS3H Ram: GSkill 3200mhz ddr4 16gb (2x8gb) HDD: 1x samsung 960 evo m.2 nvme (from the old pc) 1x 4tb Seagate 7200rpm (from the old pc) GPU: MSI Gaming X 1080 8gb (bought used from a friend) PSU: 2010 Corsair 1000w semi modular (large type) (from the old pc) And the old Powermac case of course. Here is the old 780 next to the 1080, just to compare the sizes. I was doubtful before going in to this project if I could get that 1080 into the case without problems. First thing I did after cleaning out the old hw from the case was going to the electronics recycling place, to get me a donor pc that I could hack out the mobo tray with standoffs and such to transplant into the g3 case. I decided to try to get the pc as close to unmodified as possible, keeping all the stock look and feel, while modernizing it to be a nice powerful daily driver. First I drilled out all the rivets for the side door to get it separated from the rest of the case, and then removed ther IO panel on the back, to get rid of the strange apple layout. And after a LOT of cutting/measuring/cutting/measuring/drilling/riveting this was the result: I had to redesign it a bit as I hadn't made room for the hinge. But It got done, and I assembled it. More pictures to follow next post

Hi. I use custom build silent hackintosh for Lightroom + Photoshop and Hugin for panorama stitching, no games, VR etc. just mail, web browser and photo editing software. The question I have is, which graphics card would be the best for my setup? I narrowed down my choices to AMD (nVidia is not supported in latest macOS) and Sapphire Pulse has good opinions when it comes to noise, but I'm open to any suggestions. Other than performance for the video editing I worry about noice levels and a lifespan. There is a lot of graphics card out there used for mining cryptocurrency, which means they were working under 100% load all the time. No idle, no turned off for the night, just 100% load or even more if OC. Each graphics card would be faster than my integrated graphics. It's an old build (2015) based on i5 4690K and MSI motherboard H97M-G43 Intel LGA1150 H97 Micro ATX Motherboard (4x DDR3, 6x USB3.0, 8x USB2.0, GBE, LAN, HDMI, DVI, DP, VGA). Maxed out memory - 32GB. No graphics card, stock fan and procesor without OC, on factory settings from new in the Fractal Design Define R5 case. SUPER QUIET! I use this computer with 27" Eizo CG 277 monitor (2560x1440) and 21" ViewSonic for portraits (pivot mode @ 1200x1600). I don't plan switching to 4K for now. Recently I tried to upgrade my storage - SSD 850 EVO 1TB by adding M.2 970 EVO also 1TB as a boot drive and I failed. Still trying to sort this out (I ordered PCI Express adapter) but it could be not that easy as I'm thinking about dedicated graphics card, because recently I started editing some videos as well. I use DaVinci Resolve 15, very slow. I considered passive cooling with Palit 1050 Ti but nVidia on mac is not supported that well. So I have to narrow my choice to Radeon. RX 580 with 8GB of RAM would be the fastest option I can consider, but also louder than anything else. I'm not sure if I can benefit from that speed using my config (mother board has one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E1, supports x16 speed) and one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (PCI_E4, supports x4 speed). I'm going to try and find out where my SSD will perform better. I can go for RX 580 4GB, which is cheaper than 8GB, but still pretty fast, RX 570 8GB (slower, should be quieter, same price as 580/4GB) or RX 560 4GB. There are even 2GB options, but that could be a bottle neck for the editing. I guess RX 480 should be also pretty good. Each of these cards is much faster than my built-in Intel Graphics and macOS use acceleration even to draw the interface, so the improvement should be overwhelming no matter what I choose. Price is not that important - all of these cards are available as used on ebay for £80-140 which is very acceptable. Thank you for your advice, vipR

So I bought an iPhone XR, which is my first foray back into the world of Apple in a while, and damn being in the ecosystem looks like a dream. So, having been out the hobbyist world for a while, I wanted to know if a hackintosh system is still achievable without much performance loss (if there even was any before?). My setup is the i5 7600K, GTX 1060 6gb, 8gb of RAM (I know, pretty measly), and, of course, the crown jewel: an NZXT H440. Further, are Hackintoshs still temperamental machines, or are they pretty stable these days? Many thanks, Xvantok

Alright so I've been eager to get into macOS so I installed a VM on my Win7 laptop and now I wish to dual boot it with Mojave. I am not gonna be using win10 as its updates are uncontrollable and it doesn't run well on my laptop anyway. I am gonna be using the same disk with different partitions. I went on to download macOS Mojave from the App Store to create a bootable USB but ended up using the macOS Mojave patcher to create one. Its formatted as macOS extended journaled but oooopsiees I didn't knew about Clover at the time. Now I am wondering if I can "squeeze" in Clover into the hence created bootable Mojave USB so I could save my 3 hours that went into it. P.S Don't worry about my EFI partition cuz for some odd reason windows created it to be of 300MB lmao and I can follow with some tinkering and terminal shiz. Have a look at my partition layout and my awesome Snipping Tool skillz.

Hi everyone I am looking to do some music production on my PC at home. I have learnt Logic Pro 9 through my school on macs and I would like to use the same software at home. I, however run windows so the version my school gave me does not work. Could someone run me through, step by step how to set up a VM with hackintosh (if that even is possible) because I have looked online and all of the guides are not very clear (to me at least). I have never set up a VM before so any help is welcome. Thanks :)

Parts list I am seeking a solution to my missing drives in disk utility during install. I am following the vanilla guide here. Platform is Z290 Kaby Lake. I have tried both HboxHfs-64 and HFSPlus in clover setup. I have tried the SSDT key fix here. I do own an NVMe drive but it is not the target and none of my other 4 normal drives show up. AHCI on everything. Here is my config.plist https://pastebin.com/Z89rhtuH

so I want to hackintosh my PC. But I don't have a mac in order to download the macOS Mojave installer to create a usb boot drive so i can install it. The logical flix is to use a virtual machine, but after 2 months of trying to so it i can't go on any longer. I managed to boot into a macos vm, after about 2 weeks of it not working, for no apparent reason, but it was so slow and buggy that i couldn't physically use it to download the installer. Finder kept crashing, app store wouldn't load, etc. tried different VMs, tried so many things and i can't get it to work. Is there any way i can download an instaler without a mac or a VM? I'm just so fed up of trying and it failing again and again, i thought i'd try and find another way. Any help very much appreciated.

Hello @all :) I have build an new pc with an dual boot of Windows and MacOS. At this point everything works fine exept one problem with my sound. I use my pc to work on music an media stuff, but when I connect speakers on my system, I get like an electrical sound disturbance. It's no matter if I connect it on my onboard-audio or on my thunderbolt extension card. But first here is my system: Intel Core i5 8500 (6x3GhZ) Gigabyte H370 HD3 16GB Corsair DDR4-2666 ASUS ROG Strix RX Vega 64 8GB OC Intel M2 SSD (1TB) Gigabyte Thunderbolt Alpine Ridge Thunderbold Card Thermaltake 700W Smart RGB psu The biggest thing is that I have to use my Apollo Twin MK2 interface for making music, but the sound problems are the biggest on this interface. I also tried an USB-Interface, but I get the same problems. I tried to connect it to another power source, so It's no grounding-error. When I play grephic intense games, the disturbances starting to get heavier and louder! I think there can be a problem with my GPU, but I dont know how to fix it! Do you have an idea? Thanks in advance! Greetings, Andre

Hello, I'm trying to do the "Hackintosh" VM thing with VMM like Linus and Anthony did in their video. I've followed literally every one of the steps in that video. However, I hit a roadblock when I had to "define" the VM. when I typed in the command "virsh define hackintosh.xml" it comes back saying "Domain MacOS (which is what I named it) defined from hacking.xml (also just what I called it)". This is where my issue arises. In Virual Machine Manager I can't see the VM that should have been created. Any help? I've tried: Reinstalling VMM undefining my other VM that should've been created Redownloading the Hackintosh-KVM files from the github. Remade the osx_amd_i440fx.xml - deleting the stuff left over from the author. Literally watched LTT's video like 15 times total EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm running an Ryzen 5 2500 and a RX 580.

DUAL GRAPHICS CARD non SLI SET UP Hey everyone! So I'm new here but I needed to ask an important question! So, Effectively I just can't stand apple anymore, mostly due to cost vs spec and lack of good customer care, and have decided to move over to PC's. I do a lot of music production and I exclusively use Logic Pro X and honestly prefer MAC OSX software to windows, HOWEVER, I also LOVE gaming and have wanted a gaming PC for quite a while, So after doing my research I've decided to go for an Intel i9 9900k, Z390 Meg Ace, DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x16gb ram, The tricky part is gonna be Graphics Card's I really want to get an MSI 2080 Ti, But I'm not sure how long it will be till that card has Hackintosh Drivers Released, But I really love it's gaming spec, I also through research found it's a lot easier to use AMD graphics Cards, So where my question lies is, would it be possible, to run a dual boot set up OSX on one SSD and Windows on the other, in a way that only uses one graphics card while in OSX and the 2080ti in windows,? or would it have to have both linked at all times? If not, can anyone offer some alternative advice? Thanks in advance for all your help, Darrell

Hey all! I am planning a build soon of a Ryzen Hackintosh inside an old G5 case. I wanted to share my proposed build before starting with purchasing to double check everything would work on macOS and to get some feedback. There are a few things that I need some guidance on so would appreciate some help. So, the proposed list is as follows: CPU - Ryzen 5 1600X MB - B450 (haven't decided) RAM - 32GB Corsair LPX Storage - Intel 660p 1TB + generic 7200rpm 2TB HDD (Summed as a Fusion Drive) GPU - Need guidance Case - PowerMac G5 PSU - be quiet! Pure Power 11 400w From scouting parts on eBay and Gumtree, I estimate the build is going to cost around £650 or $860, if I allocate around £90 for a GPU. This includes a cpu cooler, fans, but not any ATX conversion kits for the case. I will be using this machine for audio production and office tasks. NO gaming whatsoever. I need some help choosing a video card - I use a 21:9 monitor as my main monitor, and would like to add 2 more 1080p displays alongside. What video card would you suggest? Ideally would like to spend as little as possible as graphics are not a high priority. Just need something that can run 3 1080p monitors. Nothing special. Can anybody tell me if Fusion Drive is the best way to achieve decent speeds from a SSD/HDD set up? I've seen video with Optane and StoreMI among others, and would like to know what the best way to maximise performance from an HDD is. As far as I can tell, tiering seems to be a better option than caching, but would love some suggestions. Would a RAID setup be beneficial at all? The next thing, which is a big one, is Thunderbolt. As my interface uses Thunderbolt (v1), I require a thunderbolt port. I've seen Level1Techs implement this on Threadripper, and there are other resources suggesting that despite Thunderbolt 3 not being officially supported on Ryzen, a Titan Ridge add in card seem to be basically plug and play (despite hot-swapping not being available. No problem though). Has anyone managed to get this to work on macOS? Here is the reference article: https://egpu.io/forums/builds/thunderbolt-3-amd-ryzen-5-2400g-gtx-108032gbps-tb3-aorus-gaming-box-win10-1803-theitsage/ Finally, is there anything in the parts list that won't with macOS? Would love to hear thoughts and comments! :)

Hello, I've been thinking about getting a new laptop and the macbook are on my radar. But before spending almost $2000 i would like to try out macOS. I don't really have access to a macbook that i can use for a couple of days so i was trying to run macOS on virtualbox by following this tutorial http://www.professionaltutorial.com/install-macos-mojave-virtualbox-windows/ . But this isn't working for me. Instead of starting as shown in the tutorial I'm getting stuck at startup.nsh screen. (Screenshot attached) Is there any way to actually run macOS on a virtualbox?

Hi there, I recently discovered that my mouse sensitivity on hackintosh Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.3 does not save after reboot, which is very annoying. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I'm using a MX Master on Hackintosh with the usb I got from it (which directly connects to the mouse). Thank you in advance!

Sorry for the long post... My spouse and I finally saved up enough to get gaming computers and I need help getting the best computers for our budget. So we need two complete systems with everything but the chair and desk (computer, monitor, peripherals, and OS). Right now we use our laptops to game and they aren’t enough (mine is a Dell Inspiron 1500, SO’s is a MacBook Air with just a 128GB SSD). We live in Southwest Virginia, in the US (so we’ll use $US). We are aiming for $1800 but have up to $2000 to spend for everything. SO’s needs: - The two games that they play the most are Guild Wars 2 and Sims 4, although they would like the option to play more games, especially more demanding titles which right now aren’t an option. - They want to be able to stream/record their gameplay, edit it some, and post in on Youtube. - They’ll probably still use their laptop for browsing and other small tasks (due to the portability of the Air), they just need the PC for the bigger stuff. - They want a cleaner, sleeker look for their case, probably black with purple or green. A window would be nice but that isn’t super important. - They are just fine with Windows Home. My needs: - I play Guild Wars 2 most (when I’m not in school), but I want to be able to play games like Destiny 2, Tomb Raider, and other AAA games. - I’m a software developer so I need Windows Pro. I do a little bit of iOS development so hackintosh compatible parts would be nice. - I might want to add a second monitor down the line—or even connect to my TV every once and a while—so dual monitor support would be nice. - I’m not picky on my case, but I do like sleek designs and simpler color schemes. I don’t need RGB everything. General needs/wants/thoughts: - I have never tried overclocking anything and I would enjoy the opportunity, but it isn’t a very high priority. - We both would like the option for VR gaming down the line, but we can update the graphics card later if it isn’t ready for that now. - I was thinking that we probably don’t need much more than 1080p, although we wouldn’t mind if a higher resolution fits in the budget. And neither of us does anything competitive or very intense so latency isn’t a very large concern. - There will be plenty of times when I’m not home and my SO could use my computer for handling streaming/video editing if necessary. - I’m not afraid of water cooling, if the build warrants it, with either an AIO or a custom loop. - Feel free to also throw in your game suggestions, we want to really play with our new systems. My goal is to give as much detail as possible but we are definitely not picky, we are happy to work with any/all suggestions. Anyway, I can’t think of any other information that might be helpful, but if you have any questions feel free to ask!

So, long story short, I have a 21" iMac from mid-2011. The only reason I have that over a Windows machine is because of Logic Pro. The original specs had a 1 TB HDD and 4 GB of RAM, but I've since upgraded to an SSD and added 16 GB of RAM, because I could. My issue is, the CPU is serviceable, but with the newest version of Logic Pro, even my fairly small projects use enough of the CPU that anything bigger I try to expand to in the future will probably be too much. What I'd like to know is this: would it be possible to take my SSD (and the RAM) and build an upgraded/upgradeable "Mac"? I'm not concerned about form-factor right now, I just would like to know if building a Mac from the components I already have and upgrading from them might be worth it? I figure I might even be able to get a couple bucks from the iMac case and other components I'm leaving behind, but that's for the future. In order to give as much info as possible, here are some other details asked for in the pinned thread: 1. Budget & Location So my budget is not so much a number, but can I build something with more cost efficiency compared to upgrading to a whole new Mac. I'm in South Florida, though I'm not sure if any more specificity is needed here. 2. Aim I think the above covers this part. I'm not looking for a monster of an upgrade though, just better than it currently is. 3. Monitors I only plan on the one monitor, since I'll obviously have to buy one, but I'm mostly fine with a 1080p, unless a compatible 4k monitor is at the right price. 4. Peripherals I have peripherals other than a monitor, so this should be fine. And since I plan on using my SSD, the OS will already be there. 5. Why are you upgrading? So, again, this was mostly in my above statements, but I'm beginning research into the best way to not only upgrade my current Mac, but keep being able to upgrade down the road as well, not necessarily all at once. Also, I'm "tech aware", but have never built my own computer before. I figure this is good to know so you're aware that I'm somewhat knowledgeable, but not very experienced. Don't worry, I learn quickly. Thanks!
