Hello everyone, as you probably don't know because you don't know me, I was buying parts for my PC build for months now. I had some trouble with prices, but I managed to get the most for my money (at least I like to believe so). Anyway, I have finally got all the parts (except for an SSD, still need one of those, waiting for a deal on one) and built it with the help of YouTube videos. I have never built a PC before. Heck, I haven't even open a PC case before, but I did it and here it is on my desk, working. I wanted to overclock the CPU and the GPU, but I've had some problems with it. The R7 1700 would crash at 3.7GHz at stock voltage (stock cooler) and at 3.6GHz it would run Cinebench, but crash in Aida64. I have a picture of my temperatures running Aida64 stress test, clocked stably at 3.5GHZ. What do you think of my temperatures? I'm going to get 2 more case fans so that should help a little. The GPU overclock was stable in Unigine Valley, but crashed immediately when I started Fortnite, so I just reset the OC to stock settings and I'll try again when I get the fans. You can see the rest of the parts here ( https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/KFv8D8 ) and I have some pictures of the PC and the desk. Let me know what you think and if I can make something better.

I currently have a R9 290 alongside with an i7-4700 and a 1080p monitor, which I plan to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz in the near future and I plan to get the GTX 1080 or the GTX 1080Ti. I am wondering if the Haswell CPU will bottleneck eitehr of these and which GPU should I upgrade to.

Hi, so i bought in amazon today an i7 7700, and the watercool corsair h100i v2 for my PC, i will buy the GTX 1080 from EVGA in the near future, so i want to know if my power supply "600w 80 bronze evga" is enough for my system, i dont have RGB (sorry Linus) and the case only has 2 120mm fans 1 hard drive, 1 SSD and 16GB RAM DDR4

Hey, Im new to the forums and have this question about my GPU, So around the start of the year I purchased completely new parts for a pc with specs: - MSI GTX 1080 GPU - Intel i7 6700k CPU - Asus Z170-AR Motherboard - Corsair LPX 16GB Memory - w/ drives (on windows 10) And something i have been noticing is that my GPU clock speed has been very high on idle. After loading afterburner with just the desktop on it will read 1600+ MHZ then almost 2000 in games. I know this isn't how it is supposed to be and the only thing I have really tried was to reinstall nvidia drivers and afterburner having no effect. If I disable ShadowPlay, on my desktop it sits at around 1200 MHZ rather than the 1600 (which is still bad I think). Note that I havent overclocked my card intentionally at all and I do run 3 monitors (1 144hz and 2 60hz), but I have tried the idle clock with 1 60hz monitor and its the exact same.

Hi guys, I recently bought a new gaming computer and from other benchmarks I've seen I think it may be underperforming. Trying to diognose why though! Specs: -gpu is a gigabyte aorus gtx 1080 - CPU , ryzen 5 1600x -ram 2 times 8gb gskill tridentz -mb, gigabyte aorus ax370 gaming k7 in witches 3 I'm getting average frame rates of around 60 to 65 fps at 1440p on ultra preset and I've seen other websites say I should be getting in the 90s. If anyone can help me that would be much appreciated. Cheers

So I recently bought a Gigabyte GTX 1080 Turbo OC .I installed it on my machine and received no output from it so I sent it back to the store which sent it back to Gigabyte. I asked them to send me a new one and they did. After checking it, they claim I damaged the first one and sent me this image: So I'd like to know what is your opinion. They are asking me to pay for the new video card they sent me.I can't really tell from the image where the damage is, I didn't do anything but plug it into the pci xpress slot and the PSU cables. Everything was off when I did it.Please help.

Please help me decide on a rig: Asus G701VI, 7th Gen Intel 7820hk w/ 64GB Ram & GTX1080 @ $3500 or MSI GT73VR 7th Gen Intel 7820hk w/ 16GB Ram & GTX1080 @ $2900 I work on a cruise ship so I need a gaming rig that I wont need to upgrade every few months I like the MSI because it offers larger cooling fans, runs cooler in OC modes (Might be beneficial in the long haul with AAA titles) and offers standard HDD options with the SSD's I'm not really fazed about the price. Which one should I get?

Looking at getting a MSI GTX1080Ti new for $960, (That's Australian Dollars BTW) They normally start new at $1,300 or getting a GTX1080 for $650, or just waiting until they come down in price. I'm currently have two GTX780Ti's which is enough, however I would like to upgrade as I am thinking on getting a 3440x1440 100hz ultrawide monitor. I guess the only reason I was looking at the Ti version was because it may not devalue as quick. I'm still currently using my fantastic 59hz 1080p panel

I wanted to upgrade my graphics card to GTX 1080 Ti but I heard a news that Nvidia will release their new Volta graphics card this year. So I'm confused, pick up a 1080 Ti right now or waiting the new gpu. I'm thinking if I wait their new gpu and the performance is not so much different. I can buy 1080 Ti with cheaper price if they launch new gpu, because you know, new items came out then old items price is dropping. And another question, I have a i7 4790 the non-K ver. It's not that old cpu but I'm afraid it bottleneck with gtx 1080 ti in higher framerates or higher resolution. I know the kind of bottlenecking in this situation is not a big impact to my game session, but I'm afraid my cpu can't handle it much longer. So is it risky to pair my i7 4790 with gtx 1080 ti ? Ignore my bad grammar, cheers

So I just recently sold my GTX 970 which was cooled via NZXT's Kraken G10 and a 120mm radiator. I am currently looking to get either an EVGA Hybrid FTW 1070, an air-cooled 1080, or and air cooled 1070 if the price is good and water-cool it possibly in the future. Temperature-wise, the basement of the NZXT Manta makes aftermarket cooled cards starved for air. Ideally I would just throw an Asus Strix 1070 in there, but pricing for 1070s right now are terrible. Looking at buying a 1070 for nearly 480$ when I can buy a 1080 for around 520$ with Destiny 2 seems absurd. Does anyone have a Manta or similar issue with a small build and have any suggestions? The max I am willing to spend on a GPU is around 600$. Ideally I would like to keep that closer to 500. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello, so. Recently I assembled an upgrade to my i5 rig, consisting of: NZXT S340 Elite White R5 1600 Hexa-Core CPU DeepCool Captain 240EX White ASRock X370 Killer SLI/AC 16Gb Trident Z RGB 3000MHz 2x Toshiba OCZ TL100 240Gb SSD 1Tb WD Blue HDD Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Edition EVGA 850w G3 Modular PSU The build performed as usual yesterday, and while browsing this morning all went smoothly. While attempting to boot an hour ago, the rig would go through the automatic repair loading screen then immediately transition to an immovable black screen. I attempted to boot into the Windows USB Drive but this only booted to a blue screen after entering. I also tried to use safe mode to little success, with safe mode in all four corners but a black screen otherwise. I've only had the rig for around 2 months, and was well aware of the issues regarding Trident Z RGB Dimms and conflicting software/SMB issues. It has nothing to do with memory because my HyperX Fury kit results in the same problem. In a perfect world, using the power button from my old case as a reset switch might have solved the issue. However, even after removing all drives and using only the USB, no progress has been made. It seems that anytime I boot into anything it results in a black or blue screen. BIOS works fine. Reset to original settings many times. Any advice would be appreciated.

Lately I have been looking into upgrading my pc. Through me research I have almost everything figured out: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XtqYGf (fyi my pc sucks right now). This may seem fine and dandy but.. I have been looking into other gtx 1080's and I quickly began to love the EVGA gtx 1080 ftw2. I found it on pc part picker for almost 800$ (CAD) which is too much imo. So I found it on sears for 550$ (CAD) this is because sears is going out of business. But my question is : is the sears graphics card legit? Becasue I want the card but I dont want to get scammed. Please leave your thoughts.

Hello I am going to be using TWO 165hz, 1ms, 2560x1440p Dell Monitors. I am looking for the cheapest GPU that could run these two monitors at max settings in graphic heavy games such as GTA V, PUBG, etc and with solid frame rates. Here is the link to the monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IOO4SGK/?tag=pcpapi-20. THANKS

Good day dear reader I wanted to get your opinions on my current situation.... I have a GTX970 and will be upgrading to a GTX1080 soon... I cant seem to decide if its better to sell the 970 or to keep it as a dedicated physics card, I watched some videos and I don't think it would really do much for game play but what I couldn't figure out is if this will help anything with video editing in Premier Pro and After effects. As far as I know these software are more CPU focused than GPU thanks for your help

My system specs. My fps in games like Doom, Rome 2, and Far Cry 4 are 2-20fps. Benchmark scores are low I think. I don't remember when I took this one with Heaven so this may not be accurate. I have to find my recent Heaven benchmarks.I don't know where they are at. Should I try to re-center my GPU or do I need to reapply thermal paste to my CPU? I DID NOT put my desktop together, I had to pay someone to do it. I don't have the time to properly do this type of stuff. Any help or advice that you can give me is greatly appreciated. Also, I'm taking screenshots, but when I go to Notepad to paste them nothing shows up. Thanks, -Deepia Unigine_Heaven_Benchmark_4.0_20160921_1713.html

So I have seen a lot of this topic, but decided that now that I have experienced 4k gaming personally that I wanted to share my experience, both for those who are curious, on the fence about getting the gear to 4k game, or otherwise just wanted information that wasn't just an opinion from someone who doesn't actually 4k game. So let me start off by saying that for you guys and gals running older rigs, you are my people. I typically do a new build every 3-4 years, and upgrade certain things like ram, or the GPU every 2 years. I am very used to gaming on low settings, or having to make compromises on less then great gear to be able to even run games. I remember actually pushing an older Radeon (don't remember which) so hard the fan and heat block actually melted off the GPU! Let me also explain what I am not. I am not a PC wizard, or someone who knows everything there is to know about PC components and programs. I would say I have a hell of a lot more knowledge then the average consumer, and I understand how a lot of the basic principles of how things work together inside a computer. But I am always learning more and more, thanks to the great community here and my own time spent researching. But just like Linus, everything I know is mostly self learned or taught. For the last 5 years however I have made enough money to join the enthusiast realm and right now that is where 4k gaming kind of sits. Now I know there are those doing 4k gaming on things like the RX480, which can give you decent FPS in lower graphically demanding titles. And while I do play those games as well (CSGO and the like) I spend a hell of a lot of the time in games like Fallout 4, Dark Souls 3, Witcher 3, Skyrim SSE, GTA V etc. Big open world type games with demanding graphics and polygon counts that really put your machine through it's paces. What I wanted was a 4k experience where even if I had to compromise on some FPS I could still game at relatively high settings and get 50-60 average FPS. I have gamed at 144hz and while that is also a great experience, the whole point of this was to go 4k. I also wanted to do this on a single GPU, since lets face it the SLI and Crossfire solution is never going in my opinion to the "Best" solution. So lets dive in! First off lets start with listing the components that will dictate the experience. GTX 1080 EVGA SC i7 6700k overclocked to 4.4ghz 16 GB DDR4 3200 GSkill ram Mushkin Reactor 1tb SSD I was able to snag a 4k 27inch Seiki UHD monitor for about $170 on Amazon during a sale. I wasn't able to afford either IPS or G-Sync however. First challenge was calibrating it, and make no mistake I HAD to calibrate it. The stock color settings were terrible. But after about 20 minutes of tinkering I got a color and crisp quality I was seeking, and had to use display port to ensure I got the full 60 hz I needed for 60 FPS gaming. It sits next to a 24 Inch Acer IPS 1080p monitor and and I am happy that I was able to get a very similar color quality by again just spending time calibrating it. The second challenge was the settings within each game. What I found was that by turning off things like AA or high shadows textures, I was able to keep the rest of the settings on high or in some cases Ultra and still keep again a average 50-60 FPS. I used Nividia's optimizer and found that I rarely had to tweak settings after to get the graphics I wanted while still keeping FPS at least 50 with the exception of Battlefield 1. Here are a few pictures to illustrate. I use a TON of mods in Skyrim. Cause why not use a roll cage as a helmet? Only noobs troll noobs in Farron ;D 1:30 Clip of mixed ultra/high settings in Battlefield 1 with AA turned off. Was able to get steady 55-60 FPS. Personal Conclusion: 4k gaming is a serious treat, and while you can get a pretty get a great experience on a 144hz platform with 2k resolution, I found that I enjoyed the higher graphical experience more. Now I am not a purest in that my games MUST perform 60 fps min to enjoy them. But I was able to get almost all my titles in the 50-60 fps sweet spot, without having to turn down the graphics much, or give up settings that I honestly don't care about, but that's just me. If you have the money, or bought a GTX 1080 I think its worth it to get a 4k monitor and enjoy the experience. Obviously 4k is still new and won't be mainstream affordable for a while. But technology continues to speed up I wouldn't be surprised if 2017 is the year when 4k becomes the standard for most people, and much more affordable. Hopefully you found this review helpful especially if you have been on the fence on buying the required hardware or not. All this from someone who bought, used, and tested 4k gaming, not just another opinion from someone who knows all the technical aspects, but has no actual hands on experience. As always any feedback is appreciated.

Hey Im currently picking out a 1080, does anyone know which models have the fastest clock speeds out the box/ best overclocking potential? Just asking in general i know about the silicon lottery thanks

I couple days ago orderd basically a whole new computer off ncix (Not buying unnecessary stuff like a new psu etc) with a 6700k and 16gigs of dominator platinum ddr4 as highlights in a NZXT H440 to house it all. No GPU though as I can still run my poor old gtx 680 till I decide on a new card. Idk if I should find a 1080 on sale or something now, wait for "Vega"/1080ti and get one of those two or when said cards are available buy the 1080 when the price drops which assuming will happen for nvidia to compete. Btw I'm planning on upgrading my monitor then from 1080p to aneither 1440p ultrawide or 4k panel.

Project started this Sept 2016 and was off and on through out. And was an intro for me into CPU & GPU OC for computers Original components but not the original case and the original computer was still working to the day of the upgrade [except hdds]. got the original parts on 4/3/2008. first progression CPU upgrade WAS: Intel Q6700 2.67GHz/8MB/1066Mhz NOW: Intel QX9650 3.00GHz/12MB/1333Mhz OC'd 3.8GHz GPU upgrade WAS: 2 XFX GeForce 9600 GT Extreme 512MB in SLI THEN: [there was a GTX260 tryout. no bueno] THEN: 2 EVGA GeForce GTX 560Ti 2GB in SLI NOW: EVGA GTX 1080 Founders edition. theBomb! [card has only just been put in. this is its second day running] PSU upgrade WAS: ULTRA 650W original that came with the case. NOW: Corsair AX760 very nice and quite with smart fan. EVGA nForce 780i SLI mobo still the base. Also during this time moved to different cpu cooler for better [or so i expected] CPU temps for OC which I had stable @3.6GHz. but the cooler fans were really loud. It was requested after this upgrade we make it a much quieter PC which caused me want to put ing a modern card with their better/quieter fans. I did some research to see if PCI3.0 would work on a 2.0 board but always read that it didn't make big differences, and i had the founders as a spare card from a STRIX upgrade. Long story short on quite is I removed all fans even on CPU cooler and just ran it yesterday and the CPU got up to 81C before i noticed it [on a MS Office install]. I shut down and realized the CPU cooling was first [duh]. the corsair cpu fans were removed from each side and cooler left in place because pain to get the cooler itself off or forgot when board was out. put 2 Noctua fans back to back blowing down into the CPU heat sink. BIOS smart fan to control fans by temp keep them off or incredibly low noise. I stand the case on its front if you didnt notice. When these CPU fans are set manually to 100% they kept the CPU temps in the low 40C's. Pictures of most everything that went into and out of the upgrade. dont even want to add it up. my man cave battle zone upgrade coming as well. Upcoming New 1TB SSD install and I cant escape having a DVD. Going to OC the CPU again as it is back to stock BIOS while new upgrades are stabilized.

Okay, about two months ago I built a computer with some very good very expensive parts, Geforce GTX 1080 Intel core i7 6800k @3.4 ghz Asetek 550LC 120mm Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler ASUS X99-E ATX 32GB (4GBx4) DDR4/3000MHz Quad Channel Memory 800 Watts - Standard 80 Plus Certified Power Supply 256GB Intel® SSD 600p Series 2TB (2TBx1) SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD Should I be getting any sort of bottleneck from these parts? The computer can run most games at 4k but its never consistent. Over watch I run at about 30-45 frames. (no vsync) Arma 3 I run at around 45 frames. CSGO I run at around 200 frames. I thought this thing would be a complete beast but I have been extremely disappointed thus far. Where my expectations too high or is my computer suffering some problem?

So i'm buying a pc and want that smallish form factor as to getting that rediculous polyginal design so this ASUS GPU is pretty close to what I want but the reviews are flooded with stupid complaints from like one customer so can anyone explaing GENUINELY why this GPU is so cheap?
