  1. I've been waiting for that day for months. And finally Black Angel became a reality <3 Parts List: (also on PcPartPicker https://pcpartpicker.com/b/mxhqqs) I7-6700K Oc’d to 4.5GHz 1,31V NZXT Kraken X61 (+ Noctua NT-H1) Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 CL16 2400MHz 32GB (2x16GB) Asus GTX1080 STRIX 2x HyperX Savage 240GB in RAID 0 WD Red 3TB EVGA 650GQ V2 NZXT S340 Mods List: NZXT HUE+ LEDs Corsair SP120 PWM & AF140 Quiet Edition Fans Custom Painted: - PCI-E Brackets - SSD Trays - Kraken X61 waterblock mounting ring - Cable Managment Bar - PSU Bracket Wrapped with carbon fibre: - SSDs - Part of GPU backplate - Visible side of the radiator Sleeved cables: - ATX, EPS, 2x PCI-E – Phanteks Black/White (With cable combs) - USB 2.0, HD AUDIO – Bitfenix Alchemy White You can watch TIMELAPSE PC BUILD on my YouTube channel: OKAY, NOW MY EXPERIENCES. Build went nice, even though it took me almost whole day. Why? Well, firstly I removed all of parts to spray paint: - PCI-E Brackets - Power Supply Brackets - SSD Trays - Cable Shroud - NZXT Kraken X61's mounting ring And, when I got to painting which went quite nice BTW, it had to dry for next our, be covered with another layer of paint, and then I had to wait 2 hours till it dried completely. Then I started a job with carbon fibre. I took quite some time to cut out a form of SSDs, but GPU's one went smoothly. So after this modding work I started building a PC itself. Build was really nice and wasn't a problem to do. Only think that was kinda pain in the *** was cable managment; I mean, with all that cable extensions there was much more clutter behind the PSU, coz I had to fit in all length of PSU cables itself and a half of PCI-E extension cables as well. After completing the build I of course plugged in power cord and pressed this magic button. System launched with no problems, I created a RAID 0 aray of my 2 HyperX Savages and installed Windows 10 on it. I also installed all of drivers and software (including CAM for my Kraken and HUE+). I had a problem with Kraken, pump was kinda buzzing/rattling. I searched the net and found out that it should work on full-speed all the time, and problem should be gone. So I put it on 100% with CAM software, and it wasn't really hearable anymore, weird noise was gone, but the fans also were 100% and PC sound like a rocket engine. I had to solve it somehow. I decided to use a molex 12V -> fan adapter, to give the pump full power and RPM. I used the molex splitter provided with NZXT S340 case, but i had to file off a part of it, coz pump had 4PIN connector, molex splitter only 3PIN. This worked out pretty well, I used this power and set CAM to 100%, plugged Kraken radiator fans to motherboard CPUFAN1 & CPUFAN2 headers, set the RPM curves in the BIOS, and finally achieved silent pump, and nicely working fans. But this doesn't change fact that NZXT should have put more work on CAM software, allowing you to set the pump speed manually, and independently of the fans. And the last imperfection I noticed. When I installed ASUS GPU Tweak II with AURA RGB control I had (& still have) problem with setting up white color. The ROG logo on the GPU backplate does reproduce white correctly, on the visible side of the card, where the ROG logo and text is placed, as well as LEDs next to GPU fans, white looks more violetish. It's something that destroys colors theme of the build a bit when I want it to be fully black-white. Anyway, the PC looks sick in some color combos as well. For now it's runnig HUE+ on breathing mode on white, and Kraken, as well as GPU LED's are on fixed mode with red color. That's a really nice combo, but PC looks good also with some green, blue and violet as well. Long story short I'm pretty happy with the build, I've been waiting for so long. 2. PC specs: Core i7 6700k Asus maximus viii ranger intel 600p 240gb ssd 16gb hyper x ddr4 cooler master v650 corsair h100iv2 Asus strix gtx1080 My newly put together pc has a slight problem. The gpu is not performing well. I do not know what the cause is. I've reinstalled the driver multiple times and the prob still persist. Here are some scores: Rainbow six Vegas 2: 45-50fps Goat Simulator:20-25fps Unreal Tournament 3:25-35fps Assassins Creed Rogue:45-50fps Cinebench R15 OpenGLtest:27fps All these games are run at high settings no aa no motion blur at 2560x1080(ultrawide) Some say its the cpu bottle necking but its an i7 6700k overclocked to 4.7ghz It cant be thermal throttling because its only maxing out at 50 c Could it be because of asus's 0db gaming mode. Does it limit gpu performance? I'm pretty sure this card is supposed to be able to push highest end titles today at 4k over 60fps so these scores definately mean that sth is wrong. It is also not running on IGPU because when I disabled the Gpu in device manager, the results were worst.
  3. Well I Built a gaming rig about 8 months ago along with my friends and we had high hopes of reuniting together through the interwebs, but with school full time, that hasn't panned out the way we wanted. I built the strongest rig of the three of us and ironically I play the least. I got a gtx 1080 to play games on my 4k monitor, but since it barely gets any use I feel as if I should sell it then get a gtx 1070. Honestly i'm more of a casual gamer that likes enjoys high resolution, but I got swept up in the hype and now i'm regretting it. When I do play games I tend to play older titles like Lfd2 or indie titles and occasionally CsGo, sims, tropico, and Overwatch . Does the Gtx 1070 have enough gusto to plow through these older titles in 4k? (obviously not 60fps on max settings or anything) Edit: Yeah I figured it be smarter to keep it for monetary reasons alone, but It sure as hell feels like a waste.
  4. Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a new PC and I want it to be as silent as possible. I need help to choose a good Z170 MOBO that supports SLI & the most silent GTX1080 GPU (no founders edition please), here are the parts that I'm already planning on buying : http://pcpartpicker.com/list/KmD8jc
  5. Hi everyone, It's been 6 years since I built my first and only desktop, so I could definitely use some help. I want to build a machine that allows me to max any (or almost any) game at 1440p and maybe even go 4K at some point. I like gaming in a TV from my bed, so if you have any advice to make in home streaming, it would be very welcome. As a photography enthusiast, I'm also planning to use it regularly for adobe photoshop and lightroom, and if someone knows of a practical way to use a laptop with pen input (a surface book) as an input device for the desktop (like a Wacom tablet) it would be also great. I want this to be as futureproof as posible, I would like it to keep up 4 to 5 years from now. But, I have some questions: -are 2 1080's an overkill for 1440p? would it be better If I put that extra $700 in a 6950X or those 4 extra cores would go underused anyway? -I've read that PS and LR are not great making use of more than 4 cores, maybe an overclocked 6700K would be better? (and save me like 400 bucks in MOBO+CPU) -Are this MOBO and the 28 PCI lanes of the 6800K capable enough for 2 Graphics cards + M2 ssd? -I would definitely appreciate some advice about aesthetics

  8. I've recently acquired a new GTX 1080 and a 144hz monitor (Acer GN276HL) that happens to lack DisplayPort leaving the only option as DVI-D Dual Link. However, both Windows 10 and the Nvidia Control Panel fail to provide a 144hz option. I've tested both the monitor and DVI cable on a separate test build (with Windows 7 and a Radeon R9 290) and it worked perfectly with the 144hz option being available in Windows. I've tried using the new GTX 1080 on this same test build and the same problem occurs with only 1920x1080 60hz being available. The same issue occurs across different NVidia display drivers. I've also tried using the nvlddmkm patcher and CRU to force a 144hz option in both Windows and NVidia Control Panel, but the result was that the monitor failed to find a signal. I've tested everything with only a single device connected to the GPU. I am not using any sort of adapter. As far as I can tell, it's not specific to Windows 10 or 7. The monitor is perfectly capable of it in theory. And the cable works. I'm starting to run out of ideas besides trying a higher end cable as a long shot or believing in a conspiracy that the Dual Link port is actually secretly a Single Link. 9. Hello, I have to rebuild my Computer. And I'm not sure what CPU and GPU I should pick up. I currently have a i5-4570 with 16 GB of RAM. My budget is ~ 900 Euros (1000$). Someone gave me the advice I should go with an i7-4790k and a GTX 1080. That not only exceed my budget but I'm not sure if that is the way to go. Would it be a smart move to go with an 4 Gen. Chip when 8. Gen is coming up soon. And the i7-4790k coasts more than an i7-7700k but is weeker too. So the only argument for the i7-4790k would be that I don't have to spend a large amount of money on a motherboard and RAM. And depending on the part I have to spend on the CPU (+mainboard + RAM) I would choose the GPU (I thought I would go for a GTX 1070 cause I think that's the best allrounder that doesn't cost too much) I mostly play FPSs like Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefield 4 and GTA at 1440p with 144 Hrz. Thanks for your answeres!
  10. Hi, im going to buy a GTX1080 G1 graphics card, will there be a big bottleneck with my FX-9590 CPU? I will be playing 1080p in the future and I don't need more then 60fps. Do you think I can play 1080p 60fps new titles in the next years? And just for fun 4k Minecraft possible? (ofcourse with a 4k monitor)
  11. I seem to be getting far lower than expected fps in destiny. Even just standing in the tower I sit between 70-80 fps while doing nothing. This is at 1440p with a gtx 1080 and r7 1700. Any idea why I'm not getting the ~110 most people online with similar setups seem to be getting? My system is running benchmarks and other games exactly as expected, it seems to be just destiny that suffers.
  12. Hey guys! I have recently purchased a Gigabyte gtx 1080 windforce GPU from newegg in the US. First of all, I am from Europe, Hungary and I asked someone who went to the US to bring the card to me. I have to tell that the card was purchased in the US since here in Hungary the price is 1.5x more, not talking about the average wages here which are around 500$/month. I was extremely happy to have the card, and couldn’t wait to install it. When I took out of the package a small screw fell out, didn’t know it’s spot but then realised it was right from the middle of it, and I just put it back there. After that, I completely reinstalled windows, put the card in, and installed nvidia drivers. All seemed okay, until I installed different games to test out the new card. Started with Watch Dogs 2, which couldn’t run on ultra settings with a stable 60 fps, always dropped and the most annoying thing was the stutter. When driving, running, the game just stopped for 0.2 sec then behave normally, sometimes 70 FPS, sometimes 35 FPS. Then I switched to High resolution, stutter still happened. Then also played some Overwatch and still had stutters, then League of Legends which HAD STUTTERS as well, sometimes dropping to 70 FPS from 180. I am playing on 1080p, not 2k or 4k !!!! I also checked the status of the card and cpu, was using msi afterburner (but have the gigabyte program as well) and it showed that there were some points while playing, when BOTH , CPU & GPU were at 100% usage. Is that normal? I posted this on many forums, facebook groups, since it’s extremely frustrating to have this issue. I went on, reboot in safemode, uninstalled nvidia drivers, then reinstalled them. Also installed some Motherboard drivers but I really don’t understand which ones should be installed. And yes nvidia drivers was the latest one from their website. So basically, my build is: -Motherboard Gigabyte H81M-S2H -CPU intel i5 4460 -16 gb DDR3 RAM -550W PSU -gigabyte gtx 1080 windforce So my question is: I know my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU a little, but should it be this much? I am planning on upgrading later on, to a new mobo and cpu, but I thought I could run anything on ultra, smoothly on 1080p especially. I had no stutters with my previous gtx950 (lower settings ofc). Is there any way to fix this? Since I am from Europe I can not send it back to NA, or it would be very difficult and pricy. Also is there a way to 100% make sure it’s not the GPU that causes this issue? Please help me out!? Thank you very much in advance!
  13. Hello all, So I built my first gaming PC this summer, prior to that I had always been a PlayStation guy. I am currently using a 1080p monitor that was a second screen for my laptop, it's specs are not quite up to snuff for gaming with a 7ms response time. So my question is should I jump up to a 4k monitor or stick with something lower? I'm running a i5 7600k and gtx 1080 in my PC. I know that most people don't want to play anything less than 60fps but I would be ok with running at lower frame rates in single player games like Tomb Raider as long as it was still playable. Like I said i am accustom to the 30fps from ps4. Thanks for any advice you can give or monitor recommendations, not trying to break the bank on some 144Hz, 4k, g-sync beast though.
  14. Hey folks, I'm going to build a complete new PC. My aim with this build is to play games like LOL with 100+fps in 1440p and AAA titles with 60+fps. The PC should be quiet but still powerful. Do you see any compatibility issues, or would you swap some parts? The parts I would like to use: GPU: GTX 1080 Palit Super Jetstream CPU: RYZEN 1600X Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Two fans included) Fan: Fractal Design Dynamic GP-14 RAM: 16GB G.Skill RipJaws V black DDR4-3200 PSU: 600 Watt be quiet! Pure Power 10 CM SSD: 250GB Samsung 960 Evo (M.2) Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 MB: MSI B350 Gaming Plus AM4 Mount: Noctua NM-AM4 Also throwing in a 3tb HDD... My budget is around 1500€ (I'm from germany) If you have further questions please ask me! Greetings, Lemmy PC.ods
  15. So currently my pc has no gpu. Just integrated graphics in my i7 6700k. I have a 165hz 1440p display, that i can't use to its full potential due to me not having a gpu. For about three days i was thinking of buying a 1080. But then i see all the sites saying "Volta will be awesome, It will destroy the current Pascal cars." And the other site is like " Vega will be chesper and it will have the same performance as the pascal cards, pascal is dead." Ok i might be a but over exaggarating, but that is kinda what yhey say. So know i wanned to ask if it is even worth buying a Pascal card this close to Vega and Volta ? Sorry for the long post.
  16. Should i upgrade my gtx 1060 3gb to a gtx 1080? I have a 1080p 60 hertz monitor.
  17. Can you tell me if a ryzen 3 1300x would bottleneck a gtx 1080?
  18. Hello all, I have been banging my head to find the root cause of the audio stutters, fps drops, freezes on my new PC build (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cxMqFd). The mouse pointer also lags even when pc is idle. I am not sure if the PCIE2 slot is bad or if the PCI-e controller in CPU is bad. This lag/stutter happens ONLY when the GPU is seated in the PCI-E 3.0 x16 Slot (PCIE2: x16 mode) slot. I am using ASRock AB350 Pro4 Mobo btw. When I re-seat the GPU into PCIe 3.0 x16 Slot (PCIE4: x4 mode), the lag/stutter go away and gaming is smooth. Below are the things that I tried to find root cause when GPU is in PCI-E 3.0 x16 Slot (PCIE2: x16 mode) slot When LatencyMon is ran when PC is normal, the ISR and DPC numbers (nearly 25000µs) are high. Results are below. I have tried everything possible solution provided on the internet to fix dpc/latency issue but nothing fixed my problem. Things I have tried: 1. Windows 10 reinstall and disabled driver auto update 2. DDU nvidia drivers and reinstall only GPU driver (didnt install HD audio driver or anything else) 3. Install Ethernet driver from mobo vendor & install latest ethernet driver from manufacturer 4. Tried installing Realtek audio driver 4. Disable HD audio driver from device manager and disabled HD audio from bios 5. Disable C-states from bios 6. Disable HPET from bios 7. Set gpu and system at max performance 8. Set dynamic tick command (cant remember the command) 9. GPU and CPU temps are normal ~80c and ~45C under high load respectively. The HD audio device is disabled when the below LatencyMon is ran, (Mobo version of Lan driver was installed, GPU and pc are at max perf) LatencyMon results in Imgur album - https://imgur.com/a/11fme LatencyMon stats PS: I know that I lose about %4 of performance when 1080 is used in x4 mode instead of x16 mode from this post, So i really want to get to the bottom of this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  19. I am piecing a new PC together and I know all the parts I want, I am going to buy everything besides the new GPU (MSI Armor 1080) and I want to know if the bottleneck from my OLD gpu will majorly bottleneck my i5-7600k My current GPU is a founders edition gtx 760. I am still going to buy the new gpu, I just have to wait longer to get it cause its 500 dollars and I need to save some more money. I just want to know how my pc will perform until I get the card. Wondering if I should wait till I also have enough for the gpu and then order all of it. Thoughts? Including the entire build parts list after I have all the parts, what my pc will be. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/tamamale/saved/fLnQVn
  20. Hello guys, I just bought a new gpu, the MSI gtx1080 Gaming X. I also own a 55" 4K TV the Samsung JU7500. My cpu though isn't that strong, I have the AMD fx 8320 overclocked to 4000mhz. I will upgrade it in the future but until then I will be using this one. I want your advices for 1440p and 4K gaming. Basically, I want what works best for the best possible combination of high gaming settings and 60fps. What is weird is that when I choose 1440p on Nvidia's display settings, it's limited to 30hz refresh rate. There is no option for 60hz. Any advices about how to adjust nvidia's settings, my tv and gaming settings in order to be able to play in 1440p or 4k with the best possible game settings and stable 50-60 fps?
  21. Hi! I i have a question for you guys! I was thinking of upgrading my system, but after reading a bit online, i think i can stick with cpu å bit longer. Im running: MSI x99a gaming 7 motherboard I7-5820k at 4.5ghz stable with 1.29v. Asus GTX-1080 Ram: Crucial 4x4GB 2133MHz (PC4-17000) DDR4 CL15 SR Im having some low fps when comparing to benchmarks on Internet, on WoW and BF1 for example. Up to 20fps Lower. Is my ram or cpu bottlenecking? Will i get a noticeable benefit if i spend å fortune on http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-rgb-32gb-4-x-8gb-ddr4-dram-3000mhz-c15-memory-kit-cmr32gx4m4c3000c15 Thanks in advance for Answers. Any tip on better ram upgrades or other upgrades worth the investment is appreciated:)
  22. Hello, I'm brand new to using a forum, so here goes nothing. I recently build my new system (see below) and I have encountered "freezing up" in Battlefield 1. The screen freezes and there is a loud constant buzzing noise that comes from the speakers. The system seemed unresponsive so I held down the power button to reset. At the time of crash the MSI afterburner was recording these data: GPU usage: %100. GPU Temp: 82c CPU 1-12 usage around 50 average. CPU temp 1-12 around 55c (I was monitoring each individual thread) RAM usage: 8.5 GB System Specs: GeForce GTX 1080. PNY Blower style. (looks like this model: http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/490-bdnk?cid=309562&st=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuKOrxv2Q1wIVQrnACh2UZwVDEAQYASABEgITh_D_BwE&lid=5848362&VEN1=spwrkxRBd,183457792450,901pdb6671,c,,490-BDNK&VEN2=,&dgc=st&dgseg=dhs&acd=12309238309501410&VEN3=811504107377362621 ) Core i7 8700k OC'd to 5GHz with 1.3Vcore in UEFI Deepcool Captain 240EX RGB AIO 16 GB of G.Skill TridentZ RGB ram 3200mhz CL16 Samsung 960 EVO 500GB Asus STRIX Z370-E motherboard with latest version Corsair CX650M PSU Corsair Crystal 570x Acer Predator xb271hu Windows 10 64 bit This is coming from a fresh install of windows with just afterburner, steam, PUBG, origin, BF1 and drivers installed. 23. Hey everyone! I have been sitting here on my i7 3770k and 760 fron gigabyte for quiet a while now, and i have figured a upgrade might be necessary soon. So ive looked around a bit and ive come to the conclusion that i would like to have a 1070 for 144hz 1080p gaming. But my other problems come with the other parts of the PC. I do really like my 3770k, even though its not overclocked (thinking of that just that) it preforms good in games and some light productivity. But my 12gb may be enough but they look ugly as hell and i would like a new pair of 16gb or such. (using 3x4gb atm). Now comes the real issue... my motherboard is a old one from a acer aspire x995, and i have tried before to put a 1060 inside it, but i did not really work out that good... i tried updating bios but no success there. So my big question is! Recommendations for upgrades? What 1070 to get? Keep old i7, or buy new everything? Would a 2½ year old 550 "be quiet" power supply still work? Fix for my motherboard/graphics card issue? Im very thankful for any replies, and or suggestions!
  24. Here is build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/txV8f8 (pretty much top of budget)
  25. Hi guys! Long time lurker, second time poster from Italy. It's time for me to upgrade from a 7 years old toaster laptop. This is the first time I build a PC on my own, so I've done some research and come up with a possible build (1200€ max budget). I would use it for game development (Unity, Unreal) and heavy gaming (The Witcher III on ultra, Dark Souls III max settings, etc etc). I cannot decide between some components, which I underlined. I'm open to every suggestion ZOTAC: GTX 1070 AMP! Extreme Edition CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 MB: AM4 MSI B350 TOMAHAWK or AM4 ASROCK AB350 Pro4 SSD: 2,5 250GB Samsung MZ-75E250B 850EVO HDD: int. 3,5 2TB Seagate Barracuda Case: NZXT SOURCE 340 Black or PHANTEKS Eclipse P400 PSU: 550W Corsair RM550x or Corsair TX550M RAM: D4 3200 16GB (8x2) C14 GSkill FlareX K2 or D4 3200 16GB (8x2) C15 GSkill RipV K2 https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/66JQkT Originally I was going for cheaper RAM, but I heard that there are - or were - some problems with Ryzen mobos not allowing RAM to get to 100% speed. I would like to get RAM with samsung B-die because it seems that they are less affected by this issue. Also, I've read that Flare X are optimized for AMD/Ryzen and they should flawlessly go to 3200. Anyway, as far as you know, has this issue been fixed with new BIOS AGESA 1.0.0.6 firmwares? Out of budget, I would also like to get a monitor. With a GTX 1070 I was thinking to get either a 144hz 1080p or a 60hz QHD panel. Since I'm not into FPS games or e-sports, I thought that a IPS QHD would suit me the best. Which budget/entry level 25"/25"+ QHD monitor would you recommend and why? Thanks in advance for your time and help!
