So Im about to build a new gaming rig from ground up and altho I have pretty good picture of what my rig will be like, I have one question (two actually). Build specs: z270, 7700k, 16gb ram and pure NVMe storage. Currently my monitor of choice is HP Envy 34c. This I have pretty much settled for unless something convincing enough comes up in this thread. The biggest reasons for my choise were the aspect ratio and this monitors impeccable native contrast. Image quality is magnitudes more important for me than refresh rates beyond 60hz. Same goes for ingame graphics in which the appearance of single frame means much more than those high frame rates. But regardless of all the above mentioned, and maybe because of all that, I have tried my best to make sure I can V-sync all games to 60hz, And the question is, is that possible or am I doomed to see drops to 30hz frequently? Follow up question: If it turns out that this build might indeed run into significant drops to 30hz with V-sync, which di you think would be better: Opting for 1080ti instead or to spend that extra money on a G-sync monitor. Bearing in mind that all G-sync monitors are a compromise what comes to static contrast

I have just got a new LG 4k monitor and have set it as my primary monitor in both windows 10 settings and nvidia control panel settings and depite all this games still launch fullscreen on the secondary, 1080p monitor. I have tried games on steam, stand alone games and games on origin, they all have the same problem.

So title says most of it. The bottleneck only shows up when inside. Also my i7 6700K is overclocked to 4.8Ghz. my GPU is a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW ACX and it's got +120Mhz to the clock and +350Mhz on the memory. I know it's a CPU bottleneck since GPU utilisation is only 30% and I'm getting 20-30 fps. Also CPU usage is rather high. in the mid seventies to eighties. TLDR: heavy CPU bottleneck in Star Citizen i7 6700K@4.8Ghz GTX 1080 FTW +120/+350

Hi everyone ive just been loaned an AOC U2879VF 4k monitor to try out before i buy one, ive been trying to run some games and as the title suggest's im getting frame rate drops. my full system is: I7 4790k clocked at 4.4ghz on all cores MSI armour gtx 1080 x2 both clocked at 2ghz asus z97-AR 16gb-DDR3 hyperx 1866 windows 7 i think the bottle neck might be CPU bound? anybody got any other ideas, games tested so far are witcher 3 and fallout 4, ive even put graphics settings all to low with no change in frame rate.

So I was forced to use numbers spare rig for about 4 days or so. Played bf1 again as cod is dead. I know they released some patches that improved things such as the high gpu usage. 1440p, ultra preset, dx11. CPU on xmp profile. 4.22ghz or so. Stable at 4.5 but I don't run it there anymore. You can clearly see the usage in the pic, game runs flawless as it should, 120-90 fps average. Been told by the experts on here that theres something wrong with my pcs in order to have high usage. So what's the problem exactly?

Hey, Why are there so many god damned different GTX cards? Is there an absolute definitive best version, or why would you pick one over the other? I'm buying one, which one is the best, period?

So I have this Refrence gtx 1080 with the ACX 3.0 from evga and every once and a while the card starts providing a loud coil whine. This is my second card and I still can RMA it. What should I do? Will I voide warranty to check if it didnt have thermal pads?

My old system was built almost 5 years ago and has more than served me well. I'm still using it, mostly as a file server and a box I remote into. I am mounting my 46" LED 1080p TV above the dual 4k monitors and will hook it up to the old system so It can play Netflix and or do other activities in parallel. So I bought a GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming from Gigabyte a couple days ago, it performs perfectly on new games like Doom, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Assassin's Creed Syndicate. But when I was playing GTA 5 I noticed that the GPU Usage and Power Limit were constantly changing. GPU Usage: goes from 60% - 99% (I get for example 65 fps while GPU Usage is at 71%) Power Limit: Goes from 40% - 70% (Never saw it hit 100% or close to it. Maybe because of the extra power phases) Altough that is happening atleast I get constant frequency. I also noticed that in some games I get this coil whine sounding like sound, that I can hear even trough the case (Headset off) I thought about maybe using two separate 12V rails to give it enough power (It should be enough with only one 12V rail, because I have a Corsair RM1000x) I would like to know your theory about this. And thank you for all answers or questions you post here. Don't hesitate to ask me any further questions.

Hi all, I'm posting here at the suggestion of a user on the steam forums. Whenever I try to run Arkham Knight, I can only get it to display correctly at 2560x1440, and whenever I try to run it at 3840x2160 (the native resolution of my tv) it only shows the top left quadrant zoomed in. My system setup is as follows: Intel 6700k 4.0ghz quad-core 32gb dd4 ram at 3000 clock speed Asus ROG Strix 08G GTX 1080 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey guys, I just bought a EVGA Gtx1080 Superclocked. Previously I used Gtx 980 MSI. After I installed it and run Dota 2, I notice the FPS is about 120+ and the usage is about 40%. I haven't try other games yet. Before this when using Gtx 980 I had 200 FPS on Dota 2. I'm using intel i7 4790k processor. Is my cpu bottlenecking the GPU? I have 2 x Asus GTX 970's in SLI atm on my current rig. I have a 2560x1440 monitor running at 60hz. 800w PSU. i5 6600k (overclocked to 4.1Ghz). My question is where do I get the best value for my money but at the same time a better performance on my GPU end. I am finding that Witcher 3 at ultra is having frame issues and I have to turn down settings. I am a massive whore for graphics which is why this is a topic. Do I rather stick with medium settings for Witcher 3 or do I upgrade to like a 1070/1080?. I heard that you can't SLI the 1060 so that sucks. I would appreciate any help

Hello, I am curious to know if windows 10 supports multiple GPUs of different models. My purpose is to have one GPU dedicated to gaming (GTX1080) and a secondary GPU dedicated to running two separate monitors. I'm wanting to do this so that the other two monitors aren't affecting the gameplay on my main monitor. Is this possible? I currently have a GTX1060 or GTX760 that I could throw in if this would actually work. Does anyone know if this can be done? I'd rather not take my PC apart again and try all this if it's not going to work anyway. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

As the title says I am thinking about building a more or less powerful rig using an i5 4690k. I know there isnt really a price difference to skylake cpus and it would probably be smarter to invest in skylake before kaby lake releases but missing win 7 support just pisses me off. In addition I have no use for PCIe 3.0 and ddr4 as I believe it doesn't make a notable difference for me. Even at standard clock the 4690k is sufficient for me and to power a 1080. Am I missing something important? what are you guys' thoughts on this? Edit: Oh, and also I save on ram because I can reuse my old ddr3 ram

Build went nice, even though it took me almost whole day. Why? Well, firstly I removed all of parts to spray paint: - PCI-E Brackets - Power Supply Brackets - SSD Trays - Cable Shroud - NZXT Kraken X61's mounting ring And, when I got to painting which went quite nice BTW, it had to dry for next our, be covered with another layer of paint, and then I had to wait 2 hours till it dried completely. Then I started a job with carbon fibre. I took quite some time to cut out a form of SSDs, but GPU's one went smoothly. So after this modding work I started building a PC itself. Build was really nice and wasn't a problem to do. Only think that was kinda pain in the *** was cable managment; I mean, with all that cable extensions there was much more clutter behind the PSU, coz I had to fit in all length of PSU cables itself and a half of PCI-E extension cables as well. After completing the build I of course plugged in power cord and pressed this magic button. System launched with no problems, I created a RAID 0 aray of my 2 HyperX Savages and installed Windows 10 on it. I also installed all of drivers and software (including CAM for my Kraken and HUE+). I had a problem with Kraken, pump was kinda buzzing/rattling. I searched the net and found out that it should work on full-speed all the time, and problem should be gone. So I put it on 100% with CAM software, and it wasn't really hearable anymore, weird noise was gone, but the fans also were 100% and PC sound like a rocket engine. I had to solve it somehow. I decided to use a molex 12V -> fan adapter, to give the pump full power and RPM. I used the molex splitter provided with NZXT S340 case, but i had to file off a part of it, coz pump had 4PIN connector, molex splitter only 3PIN. This worked out pretty well, I used this power and set CAM to 100%, plugged Kraken radiator fans to motherboard CPUFAN1 & CPUFAN2 headers, set the RPM curves in the BIOS, and finally achieved silent pump, and nicely working fans. But this doesn't change fact that NZXT should have put more work on CAM software, allowing you to set the pump speed manually, and independently of the fans. And the last imperfection I noticed. When I installed ASUS GPU Tweak II with AURA RGB control I had (& still have) problem with setting up white color. The ROG logo on the GPU backplate does reproduce white correctly, on the visible side of the card, where the ROG logo and text is placed, as well as LEDs next to GPU fans, white looks more violetish. It's something that destroys colors theme of the build a bit when I want it to be fully black-white. Anyway, the PC looks sick in some color combos as well. For now it's runnig HUE+ on breathing mode on white, and Kraken, as well as GPU LED's are on fixed mode with red color. That's a really nice combo, but PC looks good also with some green, blue and violet as well. Long story short I'm pretty happy with the build, I've been waiting for so long.
