I have a GTX 780, when i start my computer i can see the windows logo, but after this, when the Full-HD resolution comes up,i can only see pixels with colors: Red, Grey,Pink,Black,Green,Blue & white. I removed the card, used the on-board card and it worked properly. So i place my 780 back inside to double check that it's broken, but it started properly(did some restarts and it works properly). Is there any possibillity that the power cables were not plugged-in in correctly or is my card going to die soon? EDIT: #SOLVED Just a 2pin cable is being pulled and it disconnects from the card... Hi there, I got a question about my Graphics cards. about two years ago I built a rig with one GTX 780 SC from EVGA, and about a year ago, I upgraded and got another 780 SC from EVGA. Now, I noticed that my old card is running about 10° hotter than the old one even tho its clock speed is slightly lower. I tried to improove that by getting rid of the dust in the card but it didnt really help, I guess the thermal compound just kinda broke down over the time. Just now however, I turned on GPU-Z and noticed that the cards got different BIOS versions, old card got 80.80.45.00.80 (P2083-0021), new card got 80.10.3A.00.80(P2083-0020). Now my question(s): How are the chances that the temperature increase are caused by a broken thermal compound after 2 years? And do the different BIOS versions affect the performance of the cards? I noticed the new card running on a higher clock speed, is that because it got a newer BIOS? If it does affect performance, can I upgrade my old cards BIOS? And if yes, how? Lots of thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and answer me!

Hey guys! Just wondering what kinds of settings I should expect to be using on GTA V when I eventually get it. I'll be running it in 1440p, aiming for 60FPS, using an i7 4790K and a GTX 780 (300MHz OC). If you're running this setup, or something similar, please let me know as I'm looking for realistic results! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out

My main rig has a 4790k with an H100i, dual 780's with Kraken G10s each with an H55. I want to have a secondary rig that I can quickly put one 780 into so I can play with friends etc. My current secondary rig ie my parents' is an old Inpiron 531 with an Athlon X2 4000. I need help with building the smallest PC possible to replace this bottlenecked turd. I already have a NAXN 500w power supply I can use, and I am just going to get better RAM for my rig and give the secondary my old set. I plan to use the Pentium G3258 since it'll just be cruising the web and gaming oriented, and when I don't have a 780 in it it's just getting a 750. What I need help with is finding the smallest case and cheapest motherboard that has full sized dimms that I can shove the stock cooler pentium and my Kraken G10 powered 780. Alot I know but I need help lol.

I have the ASUS STRIX-GTX780-OC-6GD5 G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 780 6GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card and I want to know if it can play GTA V before I buy the game. I have seen benchmarks for many GPUs, but nothing with the gtx 780 series.

On April fools day my MSI TF GTX 780 died on me, I was playing star citizen and thee screen suddenly went black. I tired turning my pc on but it wouldn't output but my intergrated gpu would. I put the GTX 780 in another pc and it wouldn't output so I conclueded it was dead and got a replacement from MSI. I got it today and plugged it into my pc and was playing gta v forr abbout 5 hours when my screen suddenly turned off. When I tried to turn it on I heard a pop and saw smoke comming out of the 8pin and 6 pin slot. I have attached where the smoke came from. Now it won't output aswell. What is going on with my PC? Any help would be appricated.

So I have a gtx 780 3gb in my rig right now that I built around one year ago. I've seen that the price is going down and I was considering that instead of buying a new card I wanted another gtx 780, therefore having a two card sli. I mostly want to do this for fun and I don't want to spend a lot of money on a new graphics card. Will a gtx 780 dual SLI be more worth the money and performance than for example a gtx 980? In my country i can get a gtx 780 for around 300 USD while a new gtx 980 would cost 700 USD What do you think?

So I'm building sort of a budget build for about $500-$600 and my friend is selling me his old GeForce GTX 780 WindForce cards (2 cards) from Gigabtye, in almost new condition, for $75 each ($150 total) because he upgraded to 980s in SLI (he's sort of rich). In my build I'm planning on using a Pentium G3258 for my processor temporarily until I can afford a 4770k or 4790k and then using the Pentium for a mini-itx media PC build. I just wanted to know if the Pentium will bottleneck the 780s to a point where they're not usable and if it's a worthy investment. Also I would like to know if it's better to buy one 780 and then using the extra $75 to buy a better CPU. I'm up to any suggestions for the build in general as well . Here is a link to the parts for build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zQ2tsY Here is a write-up as well: CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($64.98 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.75 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($126.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($36.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Apotop 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Newegg) +1tb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm Hard Drive (Already Have) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (2-Way SLI) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (2-Way SLI) Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($67.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($81.98 @ Newegg) Total: $467.67 + $150 for video cards = $617.67

I have seen a couple of gigabyte gtx 770 4gb for sale and was wondering about the 4gb of vram since the memory bus is only 256bit Okay the gtx 970-980 also have a 256 bit memory bus and 4gb vram and no one talks about the gtx 980 not being good enought to be able to handle 4gb of vram. I have a msi gtx 780 gamiing oc (1ghz) fine for 2560x1080 and easy games on 5760x1080, but for future games i would like a bit more vram since i have 3 monitors (and a 2560x1080) also with gtx 770 in sli i would have much more gpu power then a single gtx 780,970. Even when 2x gtx770 is more powerfull then a single gtx 970, alot of people on forums say it's not powerfull enough to take advantage of 4gb vram, simple because the gpu is not fast enough (even in sli)to use, let's say compared to my gtx 780 vram above 3gb and because of the low memory bus (gtx 780 higher memory bus and not so powerfull as gtx 770 4 gb in sli, gtx 770 4gb in sli has more ram and gpu power but lower memory bus, there for gpu power would compensate for memorybus and both should be able to handle 3gb vram fine?) (Gtx 770 in sli more gpu power, gtx 780 higher memory bus, both should be able to handle 3gb vram fine?) Is the Gigabyte gtx 770 4gb in sli fast enough (they could run about 1200mhz on the core) to take advantage of more then 3 gb of vram even when memory bus is only 256bit? Why isn't people talking about the only 256 bit memory bus on the gtx 980 limit the vram usage?

Good morning/evening So I recently started playing around with my gtx 780 Windforce and could get +190MHz on my core clock on stock voltage and it is stable for Valley Benchmark. However I need to go down to +170-180MHz for stable Shadow of Mordor/ Modded Skyrim etc. So when I try to put +200MHz Valley will crash always at the same point. So I try to add more voltage but it keeps crashing at the exact same point in Valley even with +20mV. Have I reached the max OC on my card? As always thanks for the help

Hi Guys! So I just got my second GTX 780 and am now running SLI and loving it! These are not reference cards but the ASUS DIrect CUII models. Obviously my temperatures are now higher than before but still very much okay I guess. The absolute highest I've seen is the top card hitting 70C (158F) in Crysis 3 @ 5910x1080 (Surround) and I'm thinking of modding my side panel to have one or two 120mm fans blowing directly on the cards. The problem is that it's a windowed panel (quite thin acrylic) and I have no chance of getting spare parts here in the Netherlands. The case is a Corsair Obsidian 750D. I've tested temperature with the side panel off and with the front panel off. With the side panel off I did not see and improvement... it was actually a bit warmer. Front panel off made no difference but I think if air would hit the cards directly I could see an improvement. What do you guys think? Have any of you done a similar mod and will it help? Or is it better to keep it like it is and avoid possibly destroying my side panel window. Thanks for the input .

Hello, I have the following problem: my GTX 780 fans sometimes get stuck running at maximum RPM. When they do get stuck running at that speed they very rarely come down from it (sometimes it can take days). They tend to get stuck when the fan speeds should naturally rise when they are doing more performance intensive tasks and gpu temperature rises. However, they stay there: GPU is sometimes at 27C and the fans are spinning at 3300 RPM. The fan speed (%) setting changes appropriately but the RPM on the fans doesn't actually change - they keep spinning at the same speed. I've added a few screenshots at the end of the post to show what I mean. So far I've tried: 1) Different driver versions. I've been through at least 2 or 3 updates. I've uninstalled drivers to go to a lower version like this guy: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/263659-gpu-fans-pinned-to-100/ . This yielded no results. 2) I've disconnected and reconnected various power cables to the PC and gpu separately. I am not certain if I have taken out the GPU and put it back in or not. This issue has been going on for months so I don't remember for sure. 3) Restarting the PC - doesn't help. The fans keep spinning at the same speed. 4) Shut down, wait 30 minutes, turn back on. The fans start spinning at the same speed again. The fan spinning thing even "lived" through driver uninstall and reinstall of a different version with the "clean" install option selected. I don't have a different PSU or motherboard to try whether it would behave that way on them as well (or any other components to try out for that matter). The GPU is a Zotac GTX 780 AMP!: http://www.zotac.com/products/graphics-cards/geforce-700-series/gtx-780/product/gtx-780/detail/geforce-gtx-780-amp-edition/sort/starttime/order/DESC/amount/10/section/specifications.html OS is Windows 8.1. Googling tells me that there are many others who have similar issues but there seems to be no general way to fix it yet. It has been going on for so long that I tend to stay away from actually playing games that might in any way demand anything of the GPU so it won't start being so damn noisy constantly. Which is funny, because that means the GPU is completely useless. Anyways, thank you for your time. PS: where's the search function in this forum? I looked for it but couldn't find it so I searched with google instead.

Hey guys! first time poster long time watcher. Today I had the fun project of strapping a Kraken G10 to my GTX 780 SC, and so far it's looking good. I get around 48-50C on load with a Kraken x41 (higher than other temps but maybe my room temp and the lack of static pressure fans might have something to do with it) and it was a rather easy install. I do have one concern, and that would be the VRM's Thanks to an awesome post here by Faceman http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/232654-kraken-g10-help/ I was able to hit the ground running and made the part picking and install super easy. Though one part of his post confused me when I finally got into the card to install the little VRM coolers he recommended. I coulden't find any solid information but what part of the card is actually the VRM's? To me it looked as if the gray bits with the large surface area made an excellent spot to place the little heat sinks, but over time it's making me worry that I might have placed them on the wrong part! The original graph he posted looks like this: The red marks are a bit misleading as they are pointing to underneath the heat spreader. I found a pic of the card without the heat spread and it reveals a series of chips where his red squares are but the red square in the middle is missing and that leads to further confusion I whipped up my own image to help explain which one (red or blue) are the VRM's? or are neither of them VRM's. If so what are they? and are the VRM's the little chips he was pointing to in the original shot? (I put my heat sinks on the red portions) Thanks!

I am planing in have 3 monitors. But only one will be used for games (gtx 780). Then I was wondering if I could use a gtx 630 for a monitor for task manager and temps. Then the gtx 750ti for something else. Is is possible to run this 3 cards on the same mobo not in sli, they would only be connected to one monitor each. Is it possible? I want to use this cards because I already own them.

Dear linustechtips forum, I am looking to upgrade my pc a little. I would like a new GPU along with a new CPU. I would like to run low end games in 4K, but am not sure what the cheapest possible GPU would be. I posted a topic yesterday as well, and have a new question. Would it be a waste of money to purchase an eVGA GeForce GTX 780 Classified these days? Keep in mind I would like to be able to play games such as LoL and CS:GO in 4K @ 60 Hz. I am not looking to max graphics in any way. Should I opt for a 970 instead? There are currently at the same price where I am from. Furthermore I would like to ask if it is worth it to buy a 4790k over a 4690k for gaming.

EVGA Removes GTX 760, 770 and 780(Ti) from US Stores
LegacyStijncat posted a topic in Graphics Cards
(You could argue about that this belongs in the Graphic Cards section, but it's more about EVGA's strange move ) While browsing the Graphics cards section of the internet, (and investigating the big price derange of EVGA from US to EU), I noticed the following: EVGA has REMOVED the 760, 770, 780 and 780 Ti from their US webshop, even though KEEPING it on the EU stores. On the Forums and Press release sites, there is no explanation as far as I've been able to find. Why do you think that EVGA did this? -
Just got a GTX 780... thermal throttling in an R4 and proper positive airflow
Guest posted a topic in Graphics Cards
I just got sent a reference GTX 780 from Nvidia, refurbished. I got 73 degrees Celsius in CS:GO.... I don't know what's wrong with the card. I get really obvious frame drops quite often and the card is not overclocked. This was a gift from the vice president of Nvidia so I don't really know how to tell him that I've had 3 defective GeForce cards in a row. He got Jensen to send me a handwritten card and gave me a LAN Hoodie, shirt, and backpack. I don't want to ask for anything more from him. It's pretty obvious that it is defective so some extent. I had a reference GTX 770 last year and it never had frame drops like this. Help! Thanks. -
So. I got sent over a 780 from Nvidia because my 960 died. But the problem is I only have a 430w PSU. If anybody has a reference GTX 780 I would greatly appreciate if you could tell me the power adapters that are included. Thank you so much.

ok, so i have a fun one.... i own 2 rigs. one for me and one for my gf. i recently upgraded my gpu and decided to put the old one in sli on my gf's rig, giving her 2 gtx 780's in sli. it is on an msi z87-gd65 gaming motherboard. finished installing and booted, but no sli option where it should be in the nvidia control panel. i tested each card individually, they work. i swapped locations on the motherboard, still no sli option. i read the manual to make sure they were in the correct pci slots, they were correctly in slots 2 and 5. i switched them anyway, obviously no improvement there. i popped out both cards and put them in MY rig- worked like a charm. i attempted using ddu, to no avail. i tried a completely fresh install of windows and all drivers- no luck. nothing on the motherboard, gpu or bridge show any sign to suggest fault. i am at the end of my rope on this one. can anybody help? pretty please? im begging.

Hello my fellow PC enthusiast. Recently I've been seeing a lot of throttling throughout my game-plays on my PC although i do not know if its the games i play are just buggy or if i have a bad PC configuration but its been annoying me a lot since i think i have a mid to high tier PC, so here are the details of what happens to me: I play LoL, Dragon age: Inquisition, Titanfall and some other games but sometimes i just notice overall frame skips and sudden lag spikes and sometimes the game just shuts down, and if i have it full screen it just freezes up the whole PC. I live in Dominican Republic where the regular temps are from 25C-35C, so i don't know if my PC is actually running well or not. I DO have a UHD monitor but for streaming purposes i mostly play windowed 2560*1440 windowed or just 1080P full-screen (for obvious reasons) Now my question are the following: is the behavior of my PC regular, i mean it does everything perfectly but when it comes to certain games it just start doing that does it have the correct temps? and clock-speeds? do i need to overclock or under-clock are the games i play just buggy messes? See i don't find people with similar setups as i have, i recently checked the airflow of my case and it all seems "regular" from what i see in other setups. (i posted an aditional pic of the fans and airflow i have) my full PC specs are here: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/VftJ7P also i added an attatchement of how it runs idle. So if anyone can get me some kind of evaluation of if its all normal or i actually have to do some tweaking or upgrades. thanks you for your time and dedication
