G'day, This problem has occured for quite some time now. One of the cards fans doesnt work at all, I have tried turning fans up 100% and still doesnt work. I bought the card off my brother and he said it didnt work while he owned it either. So I was wondering what might be the problem and if they sell replacement fans anywhere online for this model. Thanks in advanced!

Hey guys so i made my own pc last spring and it has an i5-3570k, msi-g45 mobo, gtx 660, corsair 650w psu, 8gb of ram, 128gb ssd, 1 tb hdd, windows 8, and a nzxt phantom 410 case. I am quite proud of my first build especially because im only 17 and i saved up a lot to drop all of that on a pc. It handles everything so far very well. However, with new games such as bf4 coming out im starting to feel as if my pc might not be very future proof for gaming. I want to be playing games for years to come and im also interesting in beginning to record and stream. Would getting a second gtx 660 be the best choice for an upgrade or should i replace the one i have with a gtx 770 or maybe a 680. I would like to be able to max out all games that are out as well as have a second monitor for browsing etc. Which would be the best gpu for me to go to and would my mobo and cpu be able to handle it well also would i need to look for better ways to cool my case better( right now im using a stock cooler for my cpu because i dont overclock.) Also would i have to upgrade my cpu? if you have the time i would also be interesting in finding out if getting a monitor that can play in resolution higher than 1080p is worth it.

hello friends, So i was wondering whether i could run next gen games, with my current GPU, a GTX 680, I was wondering if i will be able to run the nex gen games coming out, including, GTA 5 (when it comes to PC) and BF4 and other new PC games, i would like to max them out completely. Will it be possible with my GPU? Personally i think i should be fine, but i have a bit of doubt, also I am running an i5 3470 as my CPU. Anyway thanks in advance for any help and or Advice given also eh 1080p screen.

Hello one and all I have solved half the problem long story short looks like it was a dead/dieing PSU my system underload while running games just shut down and went into a reboot loop then finally got the point all the lights and fans were on but nobody was home and lets just say my ICT confidence has been shatted i have replaced the PSU and all looks well apart from the fact i have lost total faith in my system :( From installing my new PSU one the hard drives smoked and died so googbye movie collection/music im going to guess hopefully caused by the last PSU but what im most worryed about and may just be me over worrying and being parniode my GPU which is a GTX 680 refrence card can run at 81-83 C playing the likes of far cry 3 at optimal settings really low demanding games such as surguon simulator that i used for a test reaches the 55C mark i think its fine but i really need some help form the community to put my mind at ease and also any idea to what happend to my setup this is the first time i have ever seen a system fail underload and go into a rebbot cycle then take out only a hard disk. also i was haveing some odd graphic card driver crashes for probally 3 months prior to this fail could the PSU have caused this as it appears to have now stopped Any helpfull comments to get back my confidence that the GPU is fine would be most greatfull :) I am useing a OCZ modstream 700Watt PSU my last PSU was 4 yrs old

I've gotten a large amount of money recently and Im wanting to get a graphics card. I originally wanted a 770 but the cheapest one was around the £320 mark but I was wanting to get the Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO Headset as well (Which is another thread in of its self). Looking around the 680 in the UK is worth pennies compared to a few months ago and looking at benchmarks and what not the price, in some ways out way the 770's features. In some ways. But is it worth it? EDIT - Will I need to change my 600w corsair CX power supply if I get either card?

Alright, so I've got this weird issue & I can't seem to come up with or find a solution on the internet. I may just be being stupid, but alas hopefully someone here smarter than me can figure this out for me. So, anyway, my rig for whatever reason seems to be ordering my monitors in like the most weird way possible. So, I have a BenQ XL2720T, an Acer S19HQL, & an Optoma HD67 connected to my Asus GTX 680 DirectCU II TOP Edition as seen in the following two pictures. Sorry they're so large, not sure how to resize them on here? (old picture, couldn't be bothered to take a new one. easier just to box out my facebook. Also, please excuse the mess) So, as you can see, my XL2720T should always be set to be my main monitor. Windows even recognises that it is "currently [my] main display". However, it's still marked it as number 2 in priority. The smaller Acer is marked as number 3, & then the Optoma projector that wasn't in shot is marked as number 1. You might wonder why is this an issue? Problem is that when I've not got the projector turned on, alot of things seem to still default over to it because Windows recognises it's the number 1 monitor (I assume, anyway). Also, if I Switch User to temp log-out, all I get is a black screen / no signal on my main monitors because it's expecting me to see the Welcome Screen on my projector. So, the solution, you may think is to unplug my projector. But then, it defaults to my small Acer monitor even though, again, Windows says that the XL2720T is my main display. But apparently it's not, & so with not always having the smaller monitor turned on, I can often get the same issues as I had before. I just don't understand why. Does anybody know of a way I can fix this? Any way I can permanently force the monitor priority order? Ideally the projector would be 3rd, because nowadays it's the least used. Second would be the small Acer, & then obviously first would be my BenQ montior but I just can't seem to figure out a way to do it.

Have my Asus GTX 680 overclocked. Flashed the BIOS to get voltage and power limits unlocked. Currently running at: -1306mhz GPU clock -3402mhz Memory clock -1.212 voltage Even with the voltage unlocked and so high, card is still only running ~92% power limit (set to 150%) and temps never go over 60C even with fans down at 50%. Any ideas why I cant get the card to clock higher? Seems like I have the power and thermal headroom to continue, but when I raise the clocks the card craps out... I've run FurMark for over 3 hours and card is definitely stable at the current levels.

Hey guys! Christmas is coming up, so my mother is offering to give me $500 for doing well on my school exams! My build at the moment is i5 3470:CPU GTX 680 ASUS DCU II OC (non top):GPU Asrock z77 extreme 4:MOBO CoolerMaster GX series 750w 80+Bronze:PSU was wondering if I may get a bottleneck if i get another GTX 680 with my current one I have always wanted to run SLI and would love to do it, monitor at the moment is 1680x1050 (I know 'tis overkill, but is all I can afford atm) I will be getting a new one for christmas however $400 for GTX 680 spare $100 and I am sure I will be able to receive some more money from others for christmas to be able to get a good monitor possibly 1600p or 1440p. Anyway back to my actualy concern (I always go off-topci) So will my i5 3470 bottleneck GTX 680's in SLI? Thanks in advance guys! P.S Was confused whether to put this in GPU forum or CPU forum sorry if it is in the wrong forum!

Hello every one. Recently I bought a second 680 for my system. Them both are from Gainward, but the new one have a different cooler style(Phantom). My old one was just a regular "blower style" cooler(I have a custom cooler on this one). I know that just the GPU has to be the same, for sli, but just wanted to address that. I have a 750W bronze psu, so that should be no problem. When I have sli activated they roll just fine, and give me okay FPS, about 60 at Assassins Creed 4. When I start overclocking them, they just crashes. They only chrash when the stress gets too high (Benchmark, AC4 etc.). I have tried to just oc one at the time, but that doesn't matter. I also have tried to just use one of them. Then there is no problem. May this be that my psu is to week? I might reinstall windows 8.1 to see if that makes any difference, but that is the last thing I want to do. One more thing. The one I had from earlier, I was able to set power target to 176%. But the new one just goes to 150%. I know that they don't need to be at same clock speed, and will not be.

*PROBLEM* Last night my GPU began artifacting after playing Chivalry for an hour. First the screen went black and didn’t come back on, then after a reboot the Nvidia Driver crashed immediately. I rebooted again and this time as soon as I got past the Windows lock screen, my screen became covered in small rectangular artifacts. I was unable to get a picture myself but it was similar to this picture. *SET UP* I have an SLI system with two GTX 680’s from EVGA. The first card is almost 2 years old and the second is about 18 months old. I regularly clean my hard ware of dust, my case has very good air flow, and I run an aggressive fan profile on all of my cards; Fan speed = Temp + 10%. These cards in gaming and rendering would rarely hit 70C and during hardcore benchmarks would top out around 75C. Average gaming temps were 52C. The overclock on the cards is a Core=1148MHz, Mem=1700MHz, versus the stock which is 1098MHz and 1552MHz respectively. My complete hardware: EVGA Signature2 GTX 680’s running in SLI Asus Z77 Sabertooth I7 3770K @4.4GHz 32GB Corsair DDR3 @ 1866MHz Seasonic 1000W PSU *TESTING I HAVE DONE* I have tested both cards individually and can find nothing wrong with the secondary card while the main card still artifacts and crashes shortly after logging into windows. I have also tried running them in SLI in a reversed configuration where the artifacting card was the secondary card, just to try it out. There was no artifacting but the Nvidia driver couldn’t wait to crash. The system would not stay running long enough for me to get a temp reading on the defective card. I have ruled out the monitor being the cause. *PLEA FOR HELP* I have never had problems like this before. I do not game all that heavy but I do a fair amount of Video rendering in Adobe and 3D modeling in Blender which is what the SLI config benefitted me in most. Is this something I could reasonably fix or is the card a paper weight now? Does anyone need to know more information in order to help me diagnose/solve this problem? Are there any practical uses for this card if it is borked? Any and all help is much appreciated! VincibleAndy Thank you!

Hey everyone, i just got my build up and running last night, but there was still a problem. My PC is not detecting/registering the graphics card. Now, i am very new at this but i still got some weird ideas. When i plug in my monitor, it goes through the GPU right? So how come i can actually use the monitor, if the GPU is not being registered? Am i just missing some important graphic drivers that i might have missed? P.S This is an old Asus GTX 680 that i have had for about a year, and is the only part that i transferred to the new build, from the old one. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have this weird issue, when I turn on the PC the GPU (GTX 680) works horrible with very low FPS in all games and benchmarks, once I restart the PC it works OK and my performance is back to normal, I suspect something on the mobo is causing the issue, I didn´t have this problem with my old X58 mobo. My system specs are the following: Platform: Windows 8 (build 9200) 64bit CPU model: Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (3398MHz) x4 GPU model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 9.18.13.3788 (2048MB) x1 Ram: 16 GB DDR3 1333 mhz overclocked to 1600 mhz Any ideas?

Hi Linus tech tips community, I'm glad to be part of this community (Linus is very hot, just kidding I'm more into Slick) and I need a little guidance, don´t know if someone else has experienced this issue before. I just updated my mobo and CPU, I was using a i7 950 and a Gigabyte X58A UDR3 with my 680, since the launch of Watchdogs I noticed that my video card was limited by the CPU (I didn´t bother with overclocking, I had to reduce the electrical bill), so I decided to move to newer hardware, since I don´t really overclock due the high electrical bills on my country I went for the i7 4770 and an ASUS Z97-A. Finished installing the OS and I decided to boot some games to do benchmarks, oddly enough the games were running worse than ever, for example in Splinter Cell Blacklist I was hitting 40 FPS on Ultra and now I was getting 15 FPS, so I checked my mobo settings and I disabled the C States, verified that my PCI E slot was running at Gen 3 and such, once I booted back to Windows the performance went back to normal, tested Splinter Cell again and it worked at 44 FPS, so I thought the problem was the C States, so I decided to shutdown and go to sleep. The next day I launched Watch Dogs and I was getting 10 FPS on ultra, checked my bios settings again, after the restart the game went to 60 FPS while walking, so I turned off the PC and launched unigine and it was under performing again, I enabled MSI Afterburner and my clocks looked ok, GPU utilization was at 99%, clock was running at 1110 mhz the only thing that was not being used that high was the Framebuffer, it was sitting at 20%, I just restarted without entering the bios and bam it went back to normal, I ran again the Valley Benchmark while monitoring my framebuffer and now it was being used normally. So to sum things up, each time I turn on the PC I get very bad performance from the GPU, once I restart everything works as it should, after restarting my Valley scores went from 600 to 1767. I did a clean driver install using Display Driver Uninstaller and flashed my Bios and GPU to the latest firmware, I checked the Bus Interface on GPU Z, when I turn on the PC it says PCI-E 3.0 @ x 16 1.1, once I start running a 3D task it changes to PCI-E 3.0 @ x 16 3.0, while restarting it starts automatically at PCI-E 3.0 @ x 16 3.0 so don´t know if this is related to the framebuffer detail I saw. My system specs are the following: Platform: Windows 8 (build 9200) 64bit CPU model: Intel® Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (3398MHz) x4 GPU model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 9.18.13.3788 (2048MB) x1 Ram: 16 GB DDR3 1333 mhz overclocked to 1600 mhz Any idea what might be causing the issue? I really appreciate the time you spend reading my issue.

Hi! My graphicscard is a reference design GeForce Gtx 680. Does anyone know any good aftermarket cooler that will fit in a Node 304? OBS: Im currently using a H80 with two fans.

Hi! I've decided that I want to mod my case since there's no aftermarket cooler to fit with my Node 304. I can mod the sideintake by myself but I need some help with how i'm going to fit a Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme III on my gtx 680 with stacked powerconnectors. The reason that I want that one instead of a cooler that I know will fit without problems is merely for aesthetics. I don't mind the cooler sticking out a bit from my case because I think it's going to look awesome anyway. So the big question is this: How am I going to mod the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme III to make it fit on my graphicscard, what do I need to cut away and such?

Hi! I've picked up an interest in watercooling and since I will not be changing components in a while I was wondering is this will be enough? Specs: Gtx 680 stock i5 3570k Asrock Z77e-itx Fractal Design Node 304 The case supports up to two radiatiors, one 120mm and one dual 80mm. If I would go with thick radiators will it be enough to cool the cpu and the gpu at stock speeds?

Part 1 - Planning Intro You may want to take a look at the parts list before reading After seeing this build, I would like to try my hand at something similar, but using the new Haswell CPU's that have come out instead. My main concern is obviously spacing, but if I can get my hands on the SilverStone Strider Short Cable Kit, I may be O.K. After comparing the ASRock z77e-ITX used in the build above, with the GA-Z87N-WIFI, I have only noticed these changes: -24 pin connector is at the top of the motheboard instead of on the right -Ram and CPU have been moved slightly to the right I don't see any of those causing issues if I only use 1 of the HDD mounts, but if you want to see the differences in the boards for yourself, open the photoshop file below and toggle the GA-Z87N-WIFI layer. (You may need to download it and open with Photoshop) Node 304 Planning - 1.psd (3.64MB) Parts list Case: Node 304 PSU: Silverstone Strider ST65F-G + Silverstone PP05 Short Cable Kit MB: GA-Z87N-WIFI CPU: Intel 4670k + Corsair Hydro H90 (140mm liquid cooler) RAM: G.Skill NT DDR3 PC10600/1333MHz CL9 2x8GB GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 *I have left prices off as I am in New Zealand, for anyone wanting to see NZ prices and stores, check out my PriceSpy list here: http://pricespy.co.nz/list.php?l=89685&view=m

I have found an asus GTX 680 for about 395$ and in my country that's very cheap (a gtx 780 ti costs 875$. yup pretty expensive) if I buy a gtx 770 I need to add 90$ what should I get?

Hi guys, upgrading from my 2x MSI Geforce GTX 680 Twin Frozr III to 2x Geforce GTX 780 Ti. Just wondering what would be an acceptable price to demand for a little over one year old cards? I live in Norway, and our prices are a little higher than U.S. consumers would pay, I gave about $650 a piece for mine when they were new. In my head, and with the ridiculous price drop on hardware, I'm thinking around $250. Would that be an acceptable price for a 680?
