Hello guys I have an GTX 680 which I have been using for quite a while (about 3 years). Today however while playing bf4 it stopped working and made wierd lines on my monitors and frooze. (see image for pattern) http://imgur.com/a/Cwiye I then booted up the pc and game again and after under 5 minutes the same issue occured. I was monitoring temps this time at they didnt even reach 65 C. It can easily run optimally well over 75 C. I cleaned my pc and made sure all cables were connected correctly but now the pc wont even boot and goes into windows repair mode (Win 10). Should I "just" get a new card or is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks for any help Zarriix

Hey there, (TL;DR: Second hand gtx 680, "nvlddmkm stopped responding"/TDR issues. Pls help.) Im not sure if I'll have any luck as this is about a 600 series Nvidia card. (Sorry for wall of text) I am experiencing the "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered" error, also known as a TDR error. This started occurring after upgrading my graphics card from a gtx 480 to a 680. Both cards were purchased second hand. I'm finally using this forum account out of pure desperation as this has been going on for weeks and I feel I've exhausted every solution. This error causes games to crash to the desktop or even pc bricking after anywhere from 1-10 minutes of gameplay with the error above. Frame rates are perfect up until a point where the screen freezes and the sound either continues or is distorted. At times it even happens on the desktop with not much more than a browser and spotify running. This causes the screen to freeze but the sound to continue just like in games. After a period of time the desktop will turn a strange solid colour before returning to normal with the error above or brick my computer forcing a restart. I believe/hope this isn't a hardware error as temperatures are not high when crashes occur. I've also seen this error a lot around the internet too. There's not a lot to see in msi afterburner graphs really, just a sudden drop gpu usage from 90-99% to 0 and thermals at normal levels. Solutions I have tried: - Rolling back to nvidia drivers (uninstall, DDU, clean install each time): 341.44, 350.12, 353.62, 355.60, 355.82, 361.43, 361.82. - Increasing fan profile to max at 70 degrees. - Reducing base and boost clock by 50-100 Mhz via software and gpu flash. - Reducing boost limit to match boost clock via flash. - Increasing voltage via software. - Increasing power limits via software. - Using different VGA cables and different VGA slots on PSU. - Disabling windows Aero. - Downgrading from windows 10 to 8.1. - Increasing the TDR timeout time to "8" using Regedit. - Using the automatic Windows solutions. - Changing power management mode to "prefer maximum performance". - High performance power mode in windows. Posting this before I go to sleep, will update in the morning. I would really appreciate any input . Thanks. -
Hey people, I am facing a serious problem with my graphics card. Prepare for a story My system: Intel Core i7-3770K • Asus Sabertooth Z77• 2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz (Cas 7)• 2x MSI N680GTX Lightning in SLI• 256GB Samsung 830 series SSD• 2x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint (F1 en F3)• EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 80 Plus Gold i recently bought a used PC with two MSI gtx680 Lightning in it, When it arrived I never checked whether SLI was working, how stupid. Last week I checked it and saw it was not working, only one card appeared in device management and also Nvidia software only saw one card. The BIOS showed only PCIe slot one was filled, not the second slot. In order to make sure the cards were both ok I switched them and the card in slot one still worked --> conclusion: cards are ok. But then the real trouble started. After a couple of reboots the system froze constantly in windows, without me being able to reset the pc, so I had to hard shut it by long pressing the power key. After that the PC only boots untill the windows loading scree, the logo appears, and then after a few second it freezes (with the logo) or the screen output stops entirely. Although I have tried quite some different things the problem remains. Here is what I tried: - Start the pc on igp via BIOS settings, this works fine (typing this now via these settings) --> conclusion: the rest of the hardware such as SSD etc are fine - Use forced PCIe output in the BIOS doesn't change anything - semi-clean windows 10 install with keeping my personal files --> same problem - Reboot in safe mode and delete all display related drivers by uninstalling and DriverSweeper --> problem remains - Install the latest drivers after this in normal mode via IGP output setting, since in safe mode installing the drivers did not work --> problem remains - Using a card in the second slot only did not work entirely, also no BIOS I have no options to test the cards or to test the slots with another card. Do you people have any idea? I am becoming desperate and even my wife feels sorry for me My fear is that both of my cards are broken or both slots on the motherboard. The latter would suck but since I have warranty I can send it back to ASUS. The former option would make me cry...a lot! Thnx for the help!

Hi, Today I'm gonna buy one of these cards, used of course. The price is identical. I have a new 4K TV on its way (VIZIO m43-c1). Neither card has an HDMI 2.0 output, so they can't give me 4K @ 60hz through HDMI. The 680 can do it via DisplayPort though, while the 280x is limited to 50hz. In DAILY USE (web browsing and Photoshop editing), will the 10hz difference matter at all? Because last night I was leaning towards the GTX 680 because of this difference, and then I realized that neither card will run games at 4K at 60fps anyway... And for lower resolution, both can do 60hz easily, and maybe even 60 FPS at 1440p or at least 1080p. And when that is considered, the 280X seems preferable because benchmarks show it's about 10fps faster in many games, and it's also newer and has a better cooling (the 680 is reference model, so can't OC it). What do you think? Does 50hz vs 60hz for desktop use even matter? I think that would be the deciding factor. PS. THE 680 is the 4GB version!

I'm pulling my hair out here, and have tried everything I can think of. I have two identical GTX 680s which have been working perfectly in SLI for the last few years. Noticed today my SLI wasn't activated, assumed I just forgot to toggle it back after the most recent driver update, but going to switch it on in the NVidia Control Panel it didn't show as an option. After reinstalling both the latest (358.50) and previous (355.98) versions of the drivers, including a complete uninstall/reinstall of the drivers, removing and reseating my cards, swapping out my SLI Bridge for one never removed from it's plastic, and then finally resorting to a clean install of the OS I've narrowed down the issue, I just can't make any sense of it. SLI shows up fine in the NVidia Control Panel after installing a driver, activates, and based on frame rate is working. However once I restart it no longer appears. If it wasn't active before the restart all other options still show, it just leaves out the SLI option as if I only had a single card installed, but both cards are still availible for dedicating to PhysX. If it was active before rebooting the Nvidia Panel only shows the 3D options, nothing else. Looking in GPU-Z/testing in game, if SLI was activated before a restart, it still seems to be active after, NVidia's control panel just isn't offering it (and seemingly breaking and not offering anything if it is active even though it doesn't think its possible). Any sugestions of what I could do to try to fix this/narrow the issue? Anything I can do to work out which card it is, or if it's the Mobo, if I'm seeing the early stages of a hardware failure? Anything it could be software wise (after a clean install I doubt it, but can always hope)? Thanks! Extra Details: OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit, CPU: i7-3770k GPUs: 2x GTX 680 2GB

so before this i was running a hd 7970 matrix platinum with a 600w psu and it was fine, recently i swapped it for a gtx 680 with a ekwb fullcover block. because i don't have the rest of the loop yet, i decided to install back the stock cooler. the thermal pads are all in the right places and i even put in plenty of new thermal paste. so when i boot up my pc, it works find for a few second and then all of a sudden the fans go apeshit full speed loud and the screen turns black. any solutions?

So just to start off, I am looking to upgrade my gpu, I just bought a Inno3D GTX 680 2GB from a friend for 150 dollars and its gpu vram is totally underwhelming. I came from the EVGA GTX 760 SC ACX 4GB and I'm used to being able to exceed the 2048mb mark in GTA 5 without inducing lag. So I went researching and I've come to the conclusion that I'd wind up getting 1 of the following cards to supplement my vram requirements. A. EVGA GTX 780 Ti 6GB 2. EVGA GTX 690 Signature Edition 4GB Z. EVGA GTX Titan 6GB Which one would anyone here suggest (I'm an enthusiast so i just cant stand low end new stuff might as well get cost effective high end old stuff off ebay) My research has basically boiled down to the 690 but i want everyone's opinions. Whats funny is the fact that the 690 is pretty old tech in comparison to the titan and titan black but it still holds its own and even whips the titan in many games (Based on my research).

Live in denmark where the gtx 980 ti costs 805€ or 888$, most ref cards, so i am not gonna get one, have a asus gtx 680 dcu2 4gb and could use a bit more power (have had 2 gtx 680 4gb cards, a bit noisy, when gaming fans where at 100%, sold one to get a define r5, havn't regret buying the define r5) I play Boraderlands the presequel, project cars, dirt 3,dirt showdown, started to play bf 4 again, have bioshock infinite, crysis 1-3,tomb raider 2013 and 3x 1920x1080 monitors. Gtx 970 (have owned a gtx 780 so i know a gtx 970 would be okay for me) i can have for something like 390€/430$ asus,evga,gigabyte,msi Gtx 980 i can have for 657€/724$ asus,evga,gigabyte,msi Cards are getting a bit cheaper as the gtx 980 ti has been released and nvidia cards might also be cheaper when amd releases there 300 cards, i would only go for one card because of price,noise/heat I don't need to (not the same as i don't want to) play games at max settings, just to have a bit more power then my gtx 680 dcu 2 4gb would be nice, i can play dirt 3 at max settings also aa with a gtx 780, runs okay with nvidia setting in project cars, but not all high settings and 50+ fps with my gtx 680 4gb. I like cards from asus so that might be what i am aiming for. What would you recommend me to go for? (have 4 monitors but only game on 3 so i don't wan't amd) What brand is most likely not to have coil whine? Besides gigabytes g1 gaming (a bit noisy) which cards are good for oc? I don't think at all i would go for 1500mhz mabye 1300-1400mhz

So I've tried BF4, Dragon age inquisition,Crysis 3 and Dirt 3. Are there more games that are great with 3 screens ? And before you guys say my Gpu can't handle it (GTX 680) it can handle most games. Played bf4 at max settings at 5670x1080 no problem. crysis 3 around medium which was okay. So what games can you guys recommend at 5670x1080?

I've got a GTX 680 FTW LE+ (http://bit.ly/1EpMwyS) and under stress it gets to around 93C. Is this dangerous? I assume that I am approaching the thermal limit of the card, or have I passed it already?

My friend has a Gigabyte GTX 680 Wind Force that he's been using for about a year and he's gonna buy a 980. He offered to sell me the 680 for $200-ish. I currently have a Asus Radeon 7770 and I was gonna wait for either a 300 series card from AMD, a GTX 960 or something like that. Although I would rather get a Nvidia card. He's buying his new card in a month or something, so hopefully Nvidia and/or AMD shows off something by then. I play on a single 1080p monitor so I don't do any crazy triple monitor 4k or anything. I am 13 so as you can imagine the parts I buy kinda have to last me a while. I would like but don't NEED Nvidia's VXGI or MFAA or even Physx or CUDA, But I would like them. I kinda hate AMD's raptor thing so I would really prefer G-force experience. Actually now that I think about it I would much rather get a Nvidia card unless AMD comes out with some 980 killer for $200. Anyway should I get the 680 from him for $200-ish or no? P.S My budget is $100-$250. P.P.S Maxwell's super power efficiency thing isn't that important to me either. Many thanks!

I have a EVGA GTX 680 Classified, now it gives me OK performance, i would like to SLI it with another 680, but it has to have 4GB of vram, which are rare and expensive here in the uk (prices starting at £450). So i have 3 options, 1. Buy a overpriced gpu 2. Wait for a "next-gen" gpu and forget about my trusty 680 3. Just lower my graphic setting in my games Which would you recommend (if you know where you could get a 680 4gb in the UK on the cheap i would love that)

So I Just got a good Deal of a GTX 680 Palit Jetstream was just wondering if any of you guys use it ? or has used it before? would really love to see some feedback on it and is it still worth getting it in this gen? This might be a big jump when it comes to graphic performance because I'll be going from 6970 to hopefully this gtx 680. and by good deal if I convert it to U.S dollars it would cost around 240 dollars.

So i tried the msi afterburner show OSD option but it only works in some games I'm looking for a software that show's gpu temps in all games if possible. By showing GPU temps what I mean is I can see my GPU temp while gaming. Like I can see it at the top left corner or somewhere. So any GPU monitor temp software you guys can recommend ? -
So, I've currently got a HD 7950, and found this GTX 680 on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261447820534?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 If I can get it for below £150, is it worth it if I sell my HD 7950 for more, which I can due to the GPU mining hype at the moment. They still go for about £170+ EDIT: this is just so I can make a little profit.

basically as the title says, nearly every game i play is crashing after 30 minutes of play with that above error. im currently on the latest driver, ive re-installed it many times and ive downgraded through all the drivers down to 314.22. Hi all! I currently have two Gigabyte GTX 680 Super Overclock cards (http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4309#ov) in my rig, which is watercooled. This way I was able to limit the size of them to just being dual slot cards. Now I am looking to convert my rig to being just air cooled (water cooling is great, but I can't even count the number of hours I've wasted when trying to debug or replace a part because of draining and filling the loop). Does anyone know of any aftermarket coolers for the Gigabyte GTX 680 Super Overclock which only takes up 2 PCIe slots? I need it to only be 2 slots because I have a firewire card that I use in the last slot for my audio interface (for music production). I have just come across the Arctic Cooling "Accelero" series, but they are all over 50mm in width (I think a single slot is around 20mm). There are also the hybrid coolers which I'd rather stay away from, since I don't have much space to mount the fans on the case. I hope I'm not being too picky haha. If there's actually a choice of coolers, I'd probably be looking for one with replaceable fans, and I'd go for silence more than performance. Thanks!

Hey guys, I am very curious as to which method I should go with when it comes to increasing performance. Currently I have a leadtek winfast gtx 680 4gb model and am thinking of purchasing another and SLIing it. OR , selling it and buying 2 gtx 770's I am planning on getting the reference models (the one with the illuminated GFORCE GTX logo [http://tinyurl.com/luuf6ca]. I have a 1000W Power supply just so you know what power I currently have. What method would you go with and why? 2way sli- GTX 680's OR 2way sli- GTX 770's?

ok so i bought a gtx 680 like 3 weeks ago and its been great so far with my phenom ii x6 1090t OC'd to 3.7ghz and i was reguarly getting 60+ fps on bf3. but yesterday i jump on bf3 and im getting 40 and below??? i checked everything all drivers are up to date and i even re installed the gpu and switched the power cables around. nothing changed? it is the SC EVGA version btw. i have the game installed on my hdd not ssd and i have a feeling that hard drive might go to caput soon so it may be that otherwise i dont know? im pretty sure my cpu does bottleneck my cpu cause like when i first got it still saw 40fps sometimes so yeah probs going to upgrade to an fx-8350 and do you reckon i will benifit much from it?. other details you might want to know: psu: antec earthwatts 750psu vengeance ram h40 liquid cooler by corsair 990 fxa ud3 motherboard. but the strangest part is what i forgot to mention. i changed the graphics to see if anything that could increase the fps but i change it to low and i still get 38 - 46 fps????? what the hell i tried it on low last week to see the amazing fps i should get on the low preset and i got nearly 150 fps on talah market! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY RIG????? this is so weird? i didnt change anything? plz help thanks guy really wanna get to the bottom of it.

Hey everybody, my name is Carlton I am 16 and this is my build. I have grown to love computers over the past year, and spend much of my time watching computer related videos. I used to mainly be a console gamer until my friend introduced me to the powers of the pc, since then it has become a huge part of my life. Parts List Motherboard- MSI Z77-G45 PSU-Corsair GS 800 CPU Cooler- Corsair h60 RAM-Corsair vengence 16 gig. LP SSD- 256gig OCZ Agility 4 CPU- Intel Ivy Bridge i5-3570K (Still have to get) GPU-GTX TITAN or GTX 680 (Still have to get) 2X- Blue LED 230mm fans (top and front) Questions Please give some feedback on which GPU I should get. I am working all summer, so I don't care so much about price. Thoughts to improve the build.

( Well the only thing that changed was the platform but yeah enjoy :D) I called it Gold Ghetto because: 1) for some weird reason it sounds good in my head 2) the motherboard is gold and 3) because some of the things i have done are pretty ghetto mounted and just generally stuff you shouldnt do with a computer! My friend have four gtx 680's for sale for only $1250... I was going to put two 670's in my next build but that's till $800 so now I am considering this and I do have the money to spare if it is worth it. I just want opinions from other rather if it's worth it or not? I know their is now the gtx titan and gtx 780 so I'm not quite sure on what i should do. Also I will be water cooling my whole system by the end of this year so I could overclock the gpu's. I will be mainly using parts i own and my specs for my pc are: 3770k (might switch to the 3930k or haswell) Asus Sabertooth z77 (unless i upgrade my motherboard and get haswell or get an lga 2011 motherboard) Corsair h100 (until i fully water cool my system) 32 gb ram 4 ssd's 4 hd's case is nzxt switch 810 (which i might upgrade to corsair 900d) And i know for the best performance from all four gpu's in quad sli I'd need to upgrade to lga 2011 Now my options are... 1. I could get the 680's and use all four. 2. Get the 680's and sell 2. 3. Get the two 670's and keep the rest. 4. Get a Gtx Titan. 5. Get a Gtx 780 (and possibly sli withing 6-12 months).

Im contemplating buying another gtx 660 ti power edition from msi and running them in sli but Im worried that I wont have enough bandwidth for the second card. Im using this motherboard http://www.asus.com.au/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V/#specifications but when I bought it I didn't realize it only had one PCIe3 x16 slot, the other one is x8. if I plug a second gtx 660 ti in there will it run slower? If so, How much slower? will it still be faster than a gtx 680 or should I sell my current 660 and buy a gtx 680 lightening from msi? help would be much appreciated.
