I've been thinking of upgrading my CPU, however I'm not fully sure which one to get, or even, if it's worth upgrading at all. Initially, I wanted to go for a 2700x, as it seemed as a sound choice for an update, and since it's an AMD it's not too expensive. Then they announced their 3000 line, so I started thinking if I should just wait for the 3000 equivalent of the 2700x. Another option is that I just stay with what I've got so far, an fx-8350, as my monitor is 4k and 60Hz, so apart from potentially future-proofing, there isn't too much of a reason to get something that will get me way over 60 FPS in games. So what should I then do in terms of CPU on my current rig? Specs: CPU: fx-8350 Graphics card: GTX 1080 Ti RAM: 16GB DDR3

Hey, so I just recently upgraded my graphics from a GTX 970 to a 1080Ti, I currently game at 1080p on a 60hz monitor and the 1080Ti is absolutely crushing everything I throw at it (within reasonable limits ofcourse, some graphical features in certain games eat up GPU usage like anything, while making little to no noticeable difference in visuals), which has me thinking, now might be a good time to upgrade to 1440p (which I was planning on anyway, that's why the 1080Ti). But I have some doubts regarding my existing CPU...the i7-4790k (I did not overclock it, it remains at 4GHz), I know its gotten old, but its an i7 and many seem to think the 4790k is still a very capable CPU, but I can't seem to know for sure if it won't bottleneck my 1080Ti in any way when going up to 1440p? Based on what I understand regarding how this works, higher resolutions mean more load for the GPU (which the 1080Ti should be more than capable of handling) whereas higher refresh rates make more work for the CPU..? I do want to get a 1440p monitor, but I can't say I really care for 144hz refresh rates, I'm happy at 60hz. So is the 4790k at stock speed good enough for 1440p gaming at 60hz with a 1080Ti? Or will I have take it upto the unlocked 4.4GHz? Or do I have to think about upgrading my CPU (which would mean pretty much upgrading everything else as well while I'm at it...MoBo, RAM etc.) before I plan to go for 1440p?

Hi everyone, I've a Gigabyte gtx 1080ti 11g OCI bought second handed, the card is around 2 years old at the moment and I'm playing at 1440p 144hz which makes the card get to 90 to 100% usage very often (on factory overclock) so the Temps get to target (max 84c) and the fan speed gets to 90% (on custom curve). Question is, should I replace the thermal paste? I read a review in which the card is supposed to be between 37c idle and 77c max temp

I've had my GTX 1080ti EVGA Hybrid FTW3 working fine for a few years. All of a sudden, it won't display any output, nor is it an option under device manager. Not sure if its due to a windows update but I have tried the following with no luck. I can only use my IGPU. Setup: Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042.330 Intel Core i7-8700k CPU 32GB Gskill Tridents EVGA 850 G3 PSU 1. Uninstall Nvidia drivers with DDU (This worked once, but after another boot had same problems) 2. Replug PCI and Power cables to the GPU 3. Disable IGPU setting in BIOS and set to PEG, This always resets back to AUTO 4. Can't install latest Nvidia drivers from site as it says windows version is not compatible. Geforce experience says no Nvidia GPU detected/ 5. Updated to the latest ASUS Bios Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks

I'm going to buy this card soon which the seller claims to be an RMA piece. Usually these high end cards sell for a ridiculously high price where I live. I'm being offered ~USD420 (Rs. 30000) for this. Seems like a good deal to me since it costs way less than the usual price, RMA piece and a 1yr warranty. My question is, what should I look for to ensure that I'm getting what's being advertised? By the way, it is a sealed pack. Thanks!

Hi All, I'm new to the forum, was searching for some opinions and inspirations. I have recently comleted the 3rd build of my life. Wanted to share it with you, get some opinions and love. Some specs - I7-8086K, Asus Strix z370 E, Asus GeForce GTX 1080 TI Strix OC EditionCorsair Hydro Series h150i, DDR4 G Skill Trident 3000Mhz 14cl2x SSD Adata SU800 3DNand - 1tb and 128gbCorsair HX1000i PSU6x Corsair LL120, Lighting Node proAll in BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 Rev 2Monitor Asus XG27VQ with 144HZAlso custom cables from CableMod - white I got a lot spare fans which came with the case and don't have idea where to put them. I placed one below the hard disks. Two or tree could fit under the upper case panel so it would create a combo of corsairs pushing and bequiet pulling. Not sure if it make sense to do that - also I have no clue how to attach them as im out of mounting holes and screws. On the other hand I'm really happy with the temps i'm getting on the CPU as it does not go above 60 C under load. Also - the case came with led strips but since I used the ones from lighting node (great led strips btw), I did not mount them. I was thinking of putting them on my desk to get some light on the wall but have no clue how to connect them. Would like to power them up somehow without using the pc. Recenty bought cable combs so i will rearrange slightly the cables in a better way - at least behind the case they are managed nicely. How much this build would cost me in other countries? In poland i payed 16K PLN - so 4,1k Euro +/-, but i wanted to have it from a good source not buying on the internet and have it shipped. What you think overall?

Hi Recently Bought This graphic card and realize it was too hot for comfort and discovered that the GPU have been overclocking itself Way beyond the limits that i have set it to do so, The GPU temps was fine but it soon drops to the Reference PCB spec of 1607 Mhz not being able to overclock itself after the VRM and the power delivery got too hot. Any idea why is my graphic card is trying to commit suicide? Hey all, So.. this is my final product! (Aside from the desk that I'm currently in the process of changing). What do you think? What are your critiques? Which hardware is a primary bottleneck? (According to TheBottleneck.com, my CPU needs to be upgraded to the i9-7980XE in order to keep up with my twin GTX1080Ti's. Is that seriously my best option? I know that the i7-8700k would technically be a good choice to upgrade to, but I'm not looking to buy it, due to how long it's been available. I'm just trying to play things smart and not buy anything that'll be topped within the next 6 months.) Image of completed system: Build information Case information: System information: Water Cooling information: Extra internal components: Monitor information: Peripheral information: Gathered information: TheBottlenecker User Benchmarks Aida64 As I said before, your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Ive gotten impatient waiting for the 1180s to come out. Would it be a horrible idea to get a 1080ti, then, once the 1180s come out. Asuming they have a substantial enough increse in power selling the 1080ti and getting the 1180. I have a budget that can fit it enless i wanted sli 1180s which i dont. Basically im asking how much 1080tis will drop in price once the 11 series gpus launch. Cant find numbers for 980 tis once 180s launched so anything youve got would be great. Btw ive been waiting since may to build this pc so i cant be convinced to wait longer. If it will probably sell for around 500, thats good for me. Btw again, obviously im not asking for people to tell me the future, but an educated guess would be nice because ive got no clue

Hey guys, I'm currently wondering whether to sell my 1070 for $500 NZD and buying a brand new 1080ti for $1299 NZD mainly so I can get an improved FPS on a heavily modded Skyrim and other games. I prefer 1440p but when it's heavily modded that takes me down to 33 to 48 depending on the demand on the screen at the time however I'm also mindful that I don't know about upcoming cards. The CPU i've paired with it is the 6700k Is it a good idea to upgrade now?

I am looking to build a new system in the next month or so, as my system is getting a bit dated. I'm talking rx 7800, and an i5 4770k dated. I have decided to get a 1080ti, but I don't understand a few things about my options, What is the differences between EVGA, ASUS, MSI, etc branded cards. Why are some cards that look almost the same spec wise $200 more than each other. (Imgur album with an example from evga) How can I tell what type of cooling solution a card uses besides the pictures. How hot do these cards run. Is it worth finding a card that comes liquid cooled, or should I do an after market water block? Do you think the prices will drop a noticeable amount in the next couple of months with the release of RTX. Thanks in advance, -Kensgold

Hey, I'm thinking of getting a new MSI 1080Ti Gaming X early next month (wanted to get the 2080 but decided it wasn't worth it in the end). This is my current hardware: i7-4790k MSI GTX 970 MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) DDR3 RAM Antec VP650P power supply I'll be swapping out the 970 for the 1080Ti and I was wondering if I'll be able to play The Witcher 3 with all settings maxed out and with Hairworks ON (and at max quality) at a minimum 60fps? I'll be playing at 1080p and my current 970 often struggles to maintain 60fps in this game with max settings. With a bit of tuning the settings I can get the 60 frames but only with Hairworks OFF. Once I turn them on, I get a significant loss of fps. Will the 1080Ti be able to solve this problem at 1080p? I know this is a very powerful card but then again Hairworks is a VERY demanding feature. Online I see a lot of guys who actually seem to prefer keeping Hairworks OFF because they say they actually like Geralt's beard & hair better that way, so this might not be a problem for some but I personally LOVE what Hairworks does to the beard, so this is important to me. Any input would be much appreciated, Thanks in advance!

Hey so I currently have an Antec VP650P(v2) PSU at 650w with which I'm powering my current GTX 970 which has a 8-pin and a 6-pin connector. I'm planning to buy a GTX 1080Ti soon and it says it needs 2 x 8-pin connectors. A little bit of research revealed that the MSI Gaming X version I'm planning to buy includes a 6 pin-to-8 pin adapter in the box. So I'm wondering can I just plug the one 8 pin connector I have and use the adapter on the 6 pin? Will that be sufficient or is the adapter some kind of jerry-rigging solution? It's said the recommended PSU wattage for 1080Ti is 600w and mine is 650w so I didn't plan on having to buy a new PSU but the connector thing is bothering me. Any advice would be much appreciated!

i am planning a pair of new system builds... my goal is to not be required to upgrade for 10 years and be able to play whatever i throw at it ... heres what i am looking at 16 core 32 thread treadripper 32 gb ram 1 tb nvme ssd now i am trying to decide between the gtx 1080ti or the rtx 2080 since it was just announced i know its the first gen of the rtx tech but do you think the gtx 1080ti will have another 10 years in it before it needs to be upgraded to play games ( even at low quality) i understand the system will be a bit of overkill for the standards of today but do you think i will get 10 years out of it without too many major upgrades ?
