Hi, I was just wondering, would there be a bottleneck if I put an i5 4460 and a gtx 1070 together? And if so, would it be a huge bottleneck?

My current machine is an Intel 3570k @ 4.6GHz, 16GB of DDR3, 512GB 850 Pro SSD, and a GTX 1070. The Power Supply, Video Card, and Storage will be reused in the new machine. MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON AM4 AMD RYZEN 5 1600X 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Corsair Hydro Series H110i Extreme Performance AIO This will all be dropped into a case that I won at an auction for 18 dollars. So the new home for my new PC will be a Corsair Carbide 330R Titanium Edition, although the side panel is a windowed side panel... I don't think that is original. Parts are arriving by COB on Thursday... I will have the weekend to build. In a couple of weeks the last part will be ordered, an additional ZOTAC GTX 1070 AMP! Edition.

what is a cpu upgrade from i5 6600k (4.2 ghz 24/7) + gtx 1070 and predator x34? I play doom,bf1,need for speed hot persuite,2 shift unleashed, dirt 3,project cars (cpu demanding game) bioshock infinite, borderlands the pre sequel and a few other games. Is the i7 7700k the only real upgrade unless i play cpu demanding games and can afford a i7 6800k or 8 core ryzen. I have heard and seen an i7 can have higher minimum fps (from alle the 100 of video's i have seen the last days) and that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands can max out a i5 6600k at 4.5ghz with a gtx 1070 (indicates some games gets cpu limied with a 15 6600k at 4ghz). How about heat,i know from some reviews a experience that a i7 can get alot hotter than a i5 because of ht and i do want my noctua nh-d15 to be silent non audible or should i get a cpu cooler like the thermalright true spirit 140 power? My case is a fratcal define r5.

I finally got all my parts together and powered on my build for the first time. Here is a list of my parts: Asus crosshair hero x370 Ryzen r7 1700x intel 256GB NVME M.2 SSD 2x8GB TridentZ RGB 3200MHz RAM Corsair RM750X PSU GTX 1070 strix 2x 2TB HDD H100i v2 cooler I had a bit of trouble booting the first time but i figured it was because I needed to update the BIOS and be because my RAM speeds weren't supported yet. So i did that and this still were weird. It would take a very long time to boot into BIOS every time (default setting) and then always tell me that the overclocking failed (I didn't overclock) but I was able to get into windows. When in windows sometimes the computer would freeze and sometime the screen would go black for a bit before just acting like nothing happened. I finally got all my drivers downloaded and ran a few benchmarks ignoring these issues. I then enabled XMP for my ram and put it at the appropriate frequency, when booting after it would seem like ti would start booting the fail and then try again, did this a few times then I got into windows, I open CPUz and it says I have my old speeds still on my RAM. So I try to boot into BIOS but not I was getting error A9 and it would never boot. I tried clearing the CMOS and resetting but it didn't help. The error is now 0d and my computer won't even boot into BIOS. What should I do?

Hello, I am very new to overclocking and hope to get some advice. I watched the LTT video on which video card to buy in 2016, and I decided to get the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070. Then later I watch another LTT video where the overclocked editions may not be the best purchase. I plan to water cool and overclock the GPU myself, so would the Founders edition or reference card be better for me?? Thanks https://www.amazon.ca/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/dp/B01GX5YWAO/ref=sr_1_1?tag=linustechti06-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1477162437&sr=8-1&keywords=08G-P4-6173-KR

Hey guys, so I just upgraded from a GTX 760 to a GTX 1070, and I noticed it wasn't performing anywhere near as well as my friends who have the same card. I have done some research and I think it may be an issue with my CPU. Here are my specs: Intel i5 4670 (non-K) 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 EVGA GTX 1070 EVGA 750W Gold PSU So the reason I think it may be with my CPU is in the game Overwatch, on almost lowest settings (1080p, render scale 100%, no anti-aliasing, just textures at max) I get around 120-150 FPS in game. I opened MSi Afterburner and had it track for a game, and it graphed my card usage at 50%(see attached picture), and CPU usage at 100% for the time I was playing. I just don't know what steps to take. I'd love to buy a new CPU, but I just don't have the money for a CPU, RAM, and Motherboard upgrade.

Should I sell my GTX 1070 that's being bottlenecked by my i5 6400? Like, it bottlenecks, seriously. I'll sell it and get something cheap like a 3gb 1060 that I had before, which ran perfectly with my i5. I have 8gb DDR4 2133mhz, B150 mATX Gigabyte board, and 750w EVGA Supernova. Or, should I just wait until I get enough money for Ryzen 5 1600x, and a X370 motherboard? (I want sli okay) I do game development and a crap ton of multitasking. I also need some money so....

I am in the market for a new CPU after noticing some bottle-necking for which I am now fairly certain my CPU is responsible. I currently am running a four year old i5-4670K (stock---guess who neglected to pay attention to the chipset version of the motherboard) [3.4GHz - 3.8GHz, 4c/4t] and a new GTX 1070 (Asus ROG Strix OC). I also have the S2417DG (Dell's 1440p 144Hz IPS Monitor), of which I hope to make full use. I use my PC primarily for gaming, but also use it to do research, which includes mostly low intensity tasks like Excel and a bunch of chrome tabs (~10-15 at any given time), with the highest intensity tasks being programs that visualize molecular simulation results in OpenGL. I also like to record (not stream) game footage so I can pick out highlights later. I play mostly low intensity games (LoL, CS:GO) but also occasionally play higher intensity games (DOOM, SW:BF, BF1, PUBG). I am wondering what CPU is best for me. I am tied to Intel because a relative works there through whom I can get significant discounts. Any processor with an MSRP below $500-600 is an acceptable option for me. I'm unsure if my usage warrants the use of a 6c/12t processor (like the i7-6850k or the rumored i9-7820X) and am also unsure what sorts of benefits 4c/8t has over 4c/4t. If not, something like the the i7-7700k (yes I'm aware of the temperature issues and Intel's poor response to their consumers) seems to handle games marginally better than the i7-6850K in the benchmarks I've seen. If anyone has any insight into whether a 4c/8t or 6c/12t would be better for my situation, I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for your time

Hey guys, I'm new here, so I hope you'll cut me some slack I'm trying to set up my three monitors using nvidia surround. All the configuration steps work, but as soon as I hit the "Enable surround" button, everything freezes for a bit. A few flashes and random jumps between monitors later, and suddenly the surround view is working, except for that the monitor numbers (1,2,3) still show up on all screens. I then go ahead and try to close the Nvidia surroundsettings config window. Now it acts like its totally frozen for a bit, and after trying many times, it finally closes, and everyting is looking good. Nice!.....Thought so too until all my monitors start blinking black.(!) A few seconds pass between each blink, but I'd say it happens around every 10th second.. It's really annoying. Everything works, except for the blinking.. Does anyone know what the culprit could be? I've tried using DDU to remove all of the drivers, and reinstalling them but the problem is still here. My setup is as follows EVGA GTX 1070 FTW 1 Acer XB240HA 1080p 144hz monitor connected through DP 2 Samsung S24D390 1080p 60hz monitors. One connected through DP, the other one connected through HDMI I'll link my system info too. Any help is wildly appreciated guys asdfasdf.nfo

Hi guys, I have the ASUS STRIX GTX 1070 OC and recently I've been experiencing really bad FPS spikes in game. It usually goes from being smooth 60-70fps then drastically goes down to as low as 9fps and then goes back up again. This happens every few seconds. This even happens when I play on low settings. This hasn't happened before in the 3 months I had this PC and I'm just wondering what are the potential cause for this. Please help:'(

I have a gtx 1070 running with a 6600k, doesn't really have any problems there. I am currently planning on having it on a 2 way SLI, since my mobo supports it, but am cautious if 2 1070s will bottleneck a 6600k, will it?

So a while back, I finally made the switch from console to PC and actually built my own system for the first time. And since the GPU driving it all was the GTX 1070 Superclocked by EVGA, I also expressed a desire to upgrade my monitor. My intention was to simply get a second 1080p monitor, though with a 144hz refresh rate. Instead, I'm unexpectedly gifted a brand-new 4K display, the ASUS MG24UQ. Unsurprisingly, I immediately fell in love with it and wouldn't trade it for the world. I was shocked by the difference in image quality even in programs as simply and visually bland as MS Word. However, the shameless graphics whore part of my brain is now in full effect, because now that I've actually seen what games can look like in 4K, playing them in 1080p on my new monitor makes them look annoyingly blurry, and the GTX 1070 has thus far proven incapable of hitting a stable 60fps at 4K even with the settings dialed down massively, and on older games to boot! Both Mass Effect 3 and Alan Wake were basically unplayable when I dialed the resolution up to 4K, and that honestly drives me a bit crazy. So now that Nvidia has released the GTX 1080ti, I've been very seriously considering making the upgrade. However, I can really only justify this upgrade if I sell my current 1070, and since I'm still incredibly new to the whole custom PC/PC Gaming world, I have utterly no idea how to go about this or what kind of price I can reasonably ask. Anyone have any tips/advice to offer?

I'm planning a build for a friend and the card that I have picked out is the EVGA ACX3.0 superclocked 1070 because there is a killer deal at my local microcenter that makes it the cheapest card. My only worry is that his monitor whic is a Lenovo LL2264d. The monitorr is 1080p and 75hz with no gsync or freesync. Will my friend end up experiencing bad screen tearing if all settings were cranked up? And should I give up future proofing to go with a card like the 1060 or 580? Or and this is my last question try to convince him to invest in a new monitor?

Hi All, First time posting so please forgive some errors just need some help regarding an SLI question as I am completely new to it! Certain issues and RMAs led me to have two gtx 1070 cards and am just wondering if someone could first let me know are they compatible and able for sli and two is it worth it for my build. Ill post my specs now: ★CPU: Intel Core i7- 6700k CPU @ 4.5GHz★GPU: Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Edition OC + MSI GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR 8G OC★RAM: Corsair Vengence 4GB x 4 @ 3000Mhz★Motherboard: Asus Z170-A Pro So as said thanks to anyone who chooses to help me and comment, sorry if this is a stupid question! I recently realized when I opened up my gaming PC to clean it, that my graphics card was not properly placed in all the way, as you can see in the picture. I think the reason I am unable to fit it is because the metal piece at the end of the card is protruding too far and hits my case, before I can put it in all the way, meaning my motherboard isn't high enough. I am not sure how big of a deal this is because my rig has recognized the card just fine, and I was able to play games just fine, though I feel like this may be causing problems because things like assassin's creed 4 dip frames at max settings even when I am only running at 1080p. My card is a GTX 1070 AMP edition by Zotac, and I know for a fact that it can run it at max with no problem. I was also thinking it might not be getting enough voltage because of this. So I decided today to place an order for some extended standoffs. My case, the corsair spec-alpha comes with built in ones, but the metal that protrudes from the card is just too long it seems, so I am just wondering if A. I got the right size standoffs for my case and motherboard, and B. If they will work for making my card fit all the way. If anyone knows whether this will work or if I need a different size standoff pack, any help would greatly be appreciated. Here is the pack that I ordered off of amazon: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-Brass-Motherboard-Standoffs-Computer/dp/B00213KL5I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495300283&sr=8-1&keywords=motherboard+standoffs

I'm not sure why, but I'm (predictably) able to run assassin's creed 3 at 60 fps max settings on my gtx 1070, not much of an accomplishment there, I know, but I was using it to compare to AC4, because that is what I am TRYING to run, and for whatever reason, I get very messy and sporadic FPS while playing, and the weird thing is, I am playing at 1080p at 60hz, and It doesn't even have a huge fps difference between medium and max settings, and I know for a fact that my card can run this at max without any framerate problems. I went ahead and did some recordings of both with the built in Ubisoft frame counter. I will post that and my NV control panel settings. If anyone can tell me what I need to edit to make it run perfectly, which I know it can. Thank you in advance A quick note about AC 4: The most obvious frame drops are during combat, but also in vegetation.
