Do any of you happen to have any background information about the msi gtx 1070 quicksilver? Why is it a limited edition? What does quicksilver mean in this context? Is there any diffrence between this and a regular msi gaming x card? Just being curious since i just bought one.

recently i bought a HP omen 15 amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/HP-15-inch-i7-8750H-Processor-15-dc0045nr/dp/B07H9XPF1S/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 GPU: gtx 1070 Max-Q CPU: i7-8750H Battery: 70Wh Display: 1920x1080 G sync 144hz i have been able to run it for 4 to 4 and half hrs on normal use but i need more time than that. Is it possible to disable the GPU and run the system on integrated graphics while i am studying and switch to the GPU while gaming to save battery power?

Hey there I have a EVGA SC GTX 1070 as my GPU, nothing fancy, I think its a reference PCB with an EVGA cooler. Along with an i7 4770K @ 4.4GHz and 16gb of ram. Over the past 2 weeks I have been noticing significant and random frame fluctuations from 60 to 45 to 37 to 50 to 60 while playing games like TW3, GTAV, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and assassins creed origins. I play these games at 1080p with the graphics maxed out except in the cases of Hairworks or MSAA where I keep those off or on low. In GTAV I notice it the most when driving, be it slow or fast. In TW3, it occurs random, I cant place the circumstances. I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling, also tried 2 previous drivers. The only result with that was one of the old drivers gave screen tear when watching youtube. I have also overclocked my gpu by 150MHz and Memory by 200MHz, this decreases the frequency of occurrence with my card nearing 90% load less but it still happens. Below is an image of it happening while playing TW3. anyone else have this issue or know how to deal with it? Thanks?

Spec: Ryzen 5 1600 stock cooler 8 (2×4) ADATA 500wd green zotac gtx 1070 mini 500W psu coolermaster 80+ -So this is weird as I have talked about this problem months ago, back then I thought what cause all these frame drops was my CPU as it was set to auto in BIOS made it suck up to 1.4 volts for some reason no I manned up and decided to set the voltage manually and thank god it worked I am now at 1.24 V with a mild OC of 3.4 on all cores and RAM @ 2933mhz what is weird is after that the problem of my frame drops wasn't gone it's here to stay and I did update my BIOS as well to the latest I am tired of this any ideas what should I tried everything I could temps are within range nothing crazy or weird I don't know what to do.

I am thinking of upgrading my i7-3770K for i7-9700K. My current GPU is a GTX 1070 using a VG248QE monitor (1080p, 144Hz). Will i7-9700K bottleneck the GTX 1070?

Greetings! My System specs are as follows: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600k RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk GPU: Inno3d GTX 1070 twin X2 V4 Storage: 120 GB Kingston SSD, 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD My GTX 1070 is not from a reputed brand, I know that. When idle, the card's temperatures linger around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. I am running a very modest overclock with base clock of 1526 and boost clock of 1703 MHz. When in games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the card goes up to 75 degrees with fan speed of 84% and clocks reaching about 1850 MHz, and under synthetic benchmarks, such as the Unigine heaven, temps go up to 82 degrees ( temp limit set to 86 degrees and TDP at 105%) and fan speeds up to 93% while clocks go up to 1900MHz with GPU Boost. But, under software like MSI Kombustor, the card reaches 86 degrees and holds it there constantly, with fans ramping up to 95% but clocks only around 1825 MHz. When viewed in software like GPU-Z, it shows PerfCap reason: Thrm. So I wanna ask that is my card behaving Ok, or is the thermals and the incompetent fan, as it seems, limiting its performance? Please help me clarify this. I am attaching a benchmark report from AC Odyssey Report_2018-11-28_22-01.html

I have a gtx 1070 running on i7 6700k. I'm planning on buying a new monitor for both gaming and content creation. I play a lot of graphics heavy games and they'd run great max settings on my 1080p monitor at 60 fps. I don't really play a lot of competitive games and so i don't really need more than 60 fps. So now i'm confused whether i should stick to a 1080p display or should i upgrade to a 1440p monitor. I'm aware that the higher pixel dnesity will improve the overall image quality, but my main concern is gaming at max or close to max setting (after adjusting a few settings) at 60 fps. Will my current gtx 1070 card be able to handle that?? Also if i go for the 1440p display, will i need to use anti aliasing? On 1080p i'd mostly go for 8x MSAA or TXAA. and i'm sure at 1440p my card won't be able to handle that. So will i need to use anti aliasing on a 1440p display? Pleas help.

[fixed] Hey guys, I'm having a strange problem here. All out of sudden all of my games run like crap. I've updated my drivers and even rolled back a couple of days but they all have a max of 20fps. I'm talking csgo, but also battlefield V and gta V. None of them run above 20 fps. Cuphead runs at a constant 30 fps, but i'm not sure if its capped. Could be, since its a xbox one console exclusive. I'm assuming its a windows thing, since all games are affected. I'm pretty sure it can't be the power settings. I already checked those. My rig has an i5-4460, gtx 1070, 16GB ddr3 ram. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm not sure if this is the right subforum either, so sorry for that Cheers, Bas

Hi Guys i just finished a new Build. It is fully custom watercooled and contains a MSI GTX 1070 in the Loop. I installed Windows, downloaded Fallout 76 and startet playing - but it crashed when i was in the character editor serveral times. GPU Temps were around 68 degrees Celcius. I assumed it had something todo with the GPU so i started FurMark in the FullHD mode. After aprox. 40 sec i heard a click noise inside my PC, the screen turned Black and i restarted the PC - but there was just a Black screen. Windows boots (i can see that on my Keyboard LCD). If I plug in an old GPU i have laying around Windows boots up just fine.. but a soon i plug in the GTX 1070 it wont show anything but the blackscreen. Any Ideas Guys? My PSU is just 550W - but that would not affecting boot does it? Thanks a lot! :-)

Hi all, I'm building in a very limiting case that demands I use a GPU shorter than 180mm. I've also got a PSU limitation in that the largest capacity power supply I can get in my form factor is a 500w one (Flex ATX). As for my CPU, I'm opting for the R5 2600. All that said, I am looking at the MSI GTX 1070 (right now hovering at $400.00), the Gigabyte GTX 1080 mini ITX ($550.00 and up if you can find it) or maybe trying to wait for the MSI RTX 2070 mini ITX (no price announced and no date of launch as of yet). The thing is, I don't have a different GPU to slot into my new system in the meantime, and I've already purchased everything else that I need to build the computer. I'm a little worried about not being able to test everything before the return window closes, but that 2070 kinda looks tempting, since people are saying that it will launch somewhere in the neighborhood of $500.00. THAT being said, we don't know if it will be plagued by overheating due to its small size. On a final note, I'm assuming that a RTX 2070 does not have the power to do any kind of raytracing in any real sense, and that doesn't bother me. I just want a good GPU that's gonna last for a while without falling behind the times. Thanks in advance, folks.

Hi, I'm in the market for a graphics card upgrade and my budget is pretty much 200. Here's my current list. I'm upgrading from an HD 7970, which I've had since August and while it was good for the price ($85 used), it bottlenecks ever since I upgraded to a Ryzen 2600X. I'm torn between a used R9 Fury X and a GTX 1070. I understand that in the majority of games, the 1070 performs about 10-15% percent better, however the Fury X comes on top in some games. They both cost $210 on eBay right now, so the 1070 seems like the obvious choice. But I have a FreeSync 75Hz Monitor, which the Fury X is compatible with. I plan on playing intensive games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Metro: Exodus when they come out (I'm getting the card for Christmas). So the question is, which card should I go with? The Fury X comes with a water cooler (which would be amazing) and FreeSync. The 1070 has undeniable good performance for the price. Is FreeSync really worth it? Another option is the R9 Fury, which I can get right now for $140. It's not water cooled, and has about 10% worse performance than the Fury X - but it does have FreeSync, and that spare $70 can be used towards other important things. I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible, and throughout my incredibly thorough research (searching eBay for random cards off the top of my head), there is not an in-between. I've been told about the benefits of FreeSync, but I just don't know how beneficial it really is (my HD 7970 is not compatible with it). What should I go with? Any input is appreciated.

Hello everyone,First of all, apologies for my English (Dutch is my native language). To start, I would like to share my setup:CPU: Intel 6600k 3,5 Ghz – Overclock to 4,2Ghz (since March 2018)GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (version 388.13)Motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming (Bios 3805, new since today)PSU: Coolmaster 750 watt plus bronzeRAM: 16 GB corsair 2133 MhzCooler CPU: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVOWindows 10: version 1803 since May 2018Screen: Dell U2515 Ultrasharp, 6ms with resolution: 2540*1440, 60fps.The reason why I’m here is because I have a serious problem with my computer, especially with my graphics card. It all started +-2 weeks ago when I was playing PubG, suddenly my game started to “stutter”. In the beginning, it was more or less “reasonable” because we all now PubG has some serious server troubles time by time but day after day, it was getting worse and all of my friend didn’t experience any troubles. So I explored the web, did some benchmark/stress tests (Valley,AIDA64 extreme, Userbenchmark.com) but none of them seemed unusual due other reactions of people with more or less the same system. Mabey I overlooked something or are these tests pretty useless? Some test results: Valley 8AA fullscreen Extreme HD:-Score: 3975-FPS: 95-min FPS: 43-Max 194,60Userbenchmark :-CPU : Bench= 92,8% (outstanding)-GPU : Bench=105%(outstanding)-SSD: unable to bench? One day later, Nvidia released 388.13 so I have updated them but still the same issue…I started to look further, maybe something wrong with my CPU overclock? I removed the overclock, still the same issue.I found some advice about PubG settings, even played it at “low”, used the V-sync option, screen lock at 60fps… with no results. At that point, I didn’t test any other game so I started to test Call of Duty WWII because I didn’t had any issues in the past with this game but here, the stutter was enormous. Short after, I played League of Legends, also here I experienced slight stutter at the beginning or during heavily fights but it was more or less reasonable. After this, I started to change some settings: windows at high performance, chance 3D options in Nvidia control panel, CPU power option to 99% (instead off 100%)… Nothing helped to improve, on the contrary it got worse?!Then I started to “mess around” with my GPU. I slightly raised the core clock (+100) and the memory (+ 700). Did some stability tests, it passed (max was +125 core and +900 memory). This was also negative…Meanwhile, I downloaded Rivatuner to view my in game specs (combination with MSI Afterburner) so I could see what my GPU, CPU… was doing while gaming. Results for PubG at 2540 *1440- CPU: max temperature 70 degrees- CPU %: 70-100%- GPU % 88-99%-Core clock: 1911 mhz – 1987 mhr (changes every second)- Memory clock: 3300-3350 MB // 4007MhzResults PubG at 1920*1080 ("downgraded" my screen)-CPU max temp. no changes-CPU %: no changes-GPU %: 82-97%-Core Clock: Stable at 1962 Mhz-Memory clock: 2750-2850 MB // 4007MhzDespites the core clock didn’t change every second between a range of 1911 Mhz- 1987 mhr, I still have the same “stutter/lag”. Mabey it was a little bit better but still horrible. In call of duty WWII, my core clock stayed at 1987Mhr (2540*1440) but my memory clock fluctuated between 4000-7000MB. After a while, the game crashed. I even tried to play this game at single player: same issues with stutter, same crash but I have read that this happens quite often (COD crash) so I don’t now if this is related to my stutter/lag problem.I ended up with a bios update to version 3805, “sigh” still the same…After trying all these different things, I’m really out of options… Could my monitor be the bottleneck? Is 2540*1440 to high? My settings are average, I never had problems before and it all started slowly… Mabey it is my DisplayPort cable, is this possible? Tried new one + used different ports on PC/monitor, still the same. Could it be windows 10? Is it a power, CPU, GPU problem…? I even have thought about “formatting” my desktop but I don’t have permission because my windows is linked to my SSD? IF this could be a solution, how can I do it? I have no windows 10 disk, it was automatically on my desktop when bought, key can be found on the backside.I’m so desperate that I also have thought about buying new stuff but- when I’m realistic- I still have a decent build or am I wrong? I bought my computer together with an other friend and he doesn’t have any problems at all… A second friend has more or less the same setup: I5 6600k, Geforce 1070 GTX (other card, no Gigabyte), 16 GB RAM and also he doesn’t have these problems…In the past, I also had some issues with my sound, I sometimes noticed a “crack”/ “sound stutter”. I updated some drivers, changed some settings in windows and the problem was fixed. But It seemed to have returned slightly, could this be related? But outside gaming, I can’t notice any other issues. So my ultimate question(s): Can someone help me with my problems? What do I have to do?Ps: I also cleaned my PC at the beginning, everything is/was dust free (3/4 times a year).Other specs: -GPU idle: Core 607 Mhz, Memory 405Mhz // 40 degrees-CPU idle: 38-40 degrees -Internet: 194,9 Mbps download, 19,2 Mbps upload, Ping: 9/10ms. Jitter 2/3msI’m grateful to you all!Kind Regards,Jens

Hi guys, i currently have a i5 4670 non k, 16gb of ram and a R9 290x, and was wondering If the upgrade of the GPU was worth It, since i only have money to up that. I know there Will be a bit of bottleneckling in cpu headed games, but Will still do much better than the 290x, that is a Very old card? I intend to play on 1080p and want to never get under 60 FPS in games like pubg and cod BO4 and never under 144 on CS(only game i Care to use my Full monitor potential)

Hi all, I recently purchased a used Zotac GTX 1070 (ZT-P10700I-10P) and it seems like a great card. I'll be using it in an HTPC system and, as such, will be hooking it up to a TV. The only issue I have is that the card doesn't have an HDMI 2.1 port, only 2.0b, and the only thing my TV (LG OLED55C7P) has is HDMI ports, and I'd really like to shoot for 4K above 60 FPS. I know the card cannot handle that in most modern titles, but it should in older source games and such. I was wondering if I could simply use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, as Displayport 1.4 works wonders for 4K video. I was wondering what type I would need, active or passive, as I am unable to find any information as to if the card even supports DP++, and what I could do if it did or didn't. What may help is it seems the card is just a different cooler on the Founder's Edition card. Again, my target is 4K over 60FPS. Thank you very much for your time.

Title says it all, adaptive sync is important to me, and freesync also makes the overall cheaper. Tnx!

Good moreing/Afternoon to everyone! With black Friday and Cyber Monday right around the corner I was thinking of up grading either my CPU or my graphics card. This is my current set up. Ryzen 5 2600x slight OC RX 570 8gb 16g ram Blah blah blah My question is what should I upgrade? CPU or GPU? My budget is $400 I will be going to Fry's on Black Friday FYI.

Ok, so a while back I built my own pc from scratch with a gtx 1050ti but I have upgraded it to a ASUS gtx 1070 and I feel like I don’t get the performance I should get. My cpu sits at 90-100% when im in games, while my GPU only uses like 30-40%. So I was wondering if my cpu is bottlenecking it and if there’s any settings in the pc or the bios I can change to get more performance from my gpu? Specs: ASUS prime B350M-K Amd Ryzen 3 2200g HyperX Fury 2400MHz 8 GB 650W power supply Asus Gtx 1070 and I also have a 144hz monitor my goal is to at least have 144 fps at high settings without drops in games like fortnite, csgo, Call of duty black ops 4 and better than 57 in pubg which is what I have most of the time

Briefing: I've had my EVGA GTX 1070 Black edition now for 2 years, I noticed out of the box it always ran loud, hot and under performed. So recently I decided to do a quick thermal paste swap on it. I forgot to take pictures of the disassembly and how bad the stock thermal paste is. My findings of the stock thermal paste is that it was super thick and excessive. It took me about 20 minutes cleaning up all the stock thermal paste prepping it for my Arctic Cooling MX4 but it was worth it in the end after the results. Testing: I have the screenshots of the stock thermal paste and the MX4 using Hardware Monitor after doing a 10 minute loop of Heaven Benchmark 4.0. I also have a small overclock on the GPU and was kept the same throughout the loops Power Limit: 112% Thermal Limit: 92*C GPU core: +50MHz Memory clock: +600MHz Fan Speed: Auto Nvidia Driver: 416.34 WHQL Here are the specs of my PC if anyone was wondering: CPU: i5 6600K @ 4.2GHz Motherboard: Asus Z170-E Case: Fractal Design Define R4 PSU: EVGA Supernova G1+ 750W SSD: ADATA SX8000 512GB Stock Thermal Paste: MX4 Thermal Paste Notes: GPU Thermals: -12*C GPU Core Clock: +3% (P.S. The clock was way more stable and rock solid vs. the fluctuating clock on the stock) Fan Speed: -38% lower (SOOOO much quieter!) Conclusion: Worth the hassle of taking apart the GPU and replacing that disgusting stock thermal paste. As you can see here I drop 10 degrees on the GPU and the fan speed significantly lower making for a much quieter experience. I don't see much in GPU clock speed increase but I will take a much quieter and cooler card any day.

Hello all. The last few days i've been arguing with myself on how I should go about upgrading my main desktop pc. This pc is shared between myself and my dad. I mainly game and stream media, my dad mainly does email and accounting software. For starters, the system began its life 6 years ago as a basic Dell XPS 8500. Current specs are as follows: Intel Core i7 3770 2TB Seagate Baracuda 2 x 4gb kit (8gb) ddr3 1600 EVGA 600 B1 Gigabyte GTX 1070 FE Single 90mm exhaust fan Full of dust since it lives under the desk I know that there are lots of area to improve upon, so my question is, where should I start? I'm leaning towards getting an SSD first to speed up boot times and improve the general feel. Any good models you'd recommend under $120 US. More ram would be nice, but the sytem usage is only hovering around 3.9-4.1 GB and i'm not sure investing in a dead platform is a good idea. A new case would be nice but i doubt the oem h77 board is standard size.

I am currently using a gtx 1060 3gb as it came with my pc i bought a year ago, I am now upgrading to a gtx 1070 which I am getting from a friend for a steal soon and will be upgrading the intel core i5-7400 in December. I want to know if my power supply can handle the graphics card upgrade. My current specs are msi 250m bazooka motherboard gtx 1070 250gb ssd 2 hard drives (1Tb & 2Tb) Intel core i5-7400 16 gb of corsair 2400 memory dual channel also a dvd drive sorry If you need anymore info please let me know Ps. "I know the intel core i5-7400 will bottleneck the 1070 which is why I will upgrade that next" My friend is gonna upgrade his power supply so throwing in a 600w so that is the new amount

I recently upgraded my gpu to a GTX 1070. Since then I'm running the game on ultra settings (Hairworks off), and since then I get this weird flickering glitch. It only happens in dark surroundings like the cavern shown in the video, never observed it in the outside areas. The graphics card is not overclocked beyond the factory oc settings. I suspect that it might be some video card memory defect, but then again Witcher 3 is the only game that shows artifacts. Other games (Battlefield 1, Far Cry 5, Dishonored 2, Doom, Dark Souls 3) all run without issues. This also didn't occur on my previous graphics card, but then again I didn't run the game on ultra settings with that. The graphics card is not overclocked beyond factory oc and the temps are well under control. Althouh I noticed the pcb to become extremely hot to the touch, nearly so that I would burn myself upon touching. Drivers are all up to date. I'm currently in the process of upgrading my gaming rig, and while I'm at it I'm thinking about picking up a new monitor. The monitor would be 1440p and I wanted to know if it would be a good choice to use with my gtx 1070.
