This is my current PC build: -------------------------------------------------- (I have this PC for 2 years) CPU: i7 4770 non k GPU: MSI TwinFrozr GTX 770 2GB MOBO: MSI Z87-G45 (Gaming Edition) RAM: 8GB PSU: 700W HDD: 1TB Seagate -------------------------------------------------- I want to buy upgrade my GPU to an aftermarket GTX 1070. Is there a component that would cause a bottleneck? I'm also planning to buy an additional storage drive since my current one is almost full, but I'm still deciding on what I should buy. Should I buy a HDD + SDD or an SSHD? And what are the most reliable ones? Thanks, Philip

Hi everyone! About a year and half ago I bought my new custom pc. The graphic card I got was a GTX 960 (didn't have a lot of money back then). Now the 960 is good for most games nowadays but for the future of VR and the next games coming out I would like to upgrade my pc. I want to have better performance and be VR ready (my cpu being alright from what i've seen on the VR test provided by steam. it only says that my gpu is not powerful enough). In case it's useful my motherboard is a Z97X Killer. Now, not long ago Nvidia as release their new gpu the GTX 1070 and 1080. The 1070 is around 300-400$ if i'm not mistaken and it's around my budget. Their specs are really impressive since they're better then a Titan X (even the 1070). I'm currently saving my money and I'll probably get a 1070 soon enough. Here is my first question, what am I really losing by getting a 1070 insted of a 1080. Second Question : If I get a new graphic card like the 1070, what's going to happen to my gtx 960? For what use should I keep it? Recording gameplay? And If it stays in my build, how would I setup the dual graphic card 960, 1070 inside the PC (do I need anything special? What about my softwares configuration? Like for geforce experience, my 960 could take care of recording with shadow play and the 1070 would be use to display my games but how do I do that?) I'm getting really confuse on how to upgrade my custom pc build but I really want to do it. Anyway, Thank you very much for any advice you have on this. NB: Please, don't judge my current build, I had really low knowledge on pc hardware at the time I bought it

graphic cards Can I run a 1080 and a 970 in my rig at the same time?
DCN posted a topic in Graphics Cards
As the title suggests I am very interested in procuring the new 1080 card, but I am worried about potential issues that this may cause in my rig. I am currently running a single 970 and I would still like to utilize it as much as possible. It is still a good card and I don't want to be wasteful. I am hoping that it could just be a PhysX work horse (idk if possible but it would be nice) or maybe it could assist with render jobs (Autodesk jazz). I'm not sure if this is possible so any answer is much appreciated. Edit: I understand that SLI won't work, I am just wondering if windows would even recognize the other card and utilize it -
I was browsing out of boredom and found a special edition 980 Ti from MSI at a really good price. I know golden is not the easiest color to match, but if you're like me, a good deal beats the color. Also they got a black and white version for 590$. This prices seem a bit too low so I don't think they're gonna last, for anyone looking for a GPU in this price range, best deal you'll find. http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-GTX-980TI-GOLDEN/dp/B0166T31O0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1461002182&sr=1-1&keywords=MSI+Limited+GAMING+Edition+GeForce+GTX+980+TI+6GB+OC+DirectX+12+VR+READY+%28GTX+980TI+GAMING+6G+GOLDEN+EDITION%29 http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-OC-980TI-6GD5T/dp/B015DROXMU/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1461002342&sr=1-1&keywords=MSI+ARMOR+2X+GeForce+GTX+980+TI+6GB+OC+DirectX+12+VR+READY+%28GTX+980TI+6GD5T+OC%29

I want to create a new computer but i will be reusing the hard drive with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS, and the CPU which is an i5 2400. if i reuse the hard drive and cpu, but i get everything else new like the motherboard and gpu, what problems should i expect while launching the PC? Will the PC not be able to launch due to the motherboard or will it just work like normal? also, i will have to download the new components drivers right and uninstall the old ones?? i asked my friend at school, and he said it should just run fine even with the new components. thanks! i checked out "Tom's Hardware" and there was a response to my post but it was totally contradicting each other so I'm just clueless. Thanks! http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2989974/question.html <- post on Tom's hardware motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131860&cm_re=lga_1155_motherboard-_-13-131-860-_-Product graphic car: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500349&cm_re=zotac_gtx_750_ti-_-14-500-349-_-Product

Hey guys, I'm searching for a monitor, and i'm wondering if my MSI R9 280X could comfortably run games like battlefront and battlefield 4 in 1440p. Or would people suggest buying a 1080p monitor. I'm by the way looking for an IPS panel with a refresh rate of 75Hz.

Hi, I recently bought two Gigabyte 980 T1 gaming, with only two days of use one of the cards begin to show some really weird behaviour, at least when the cards have the SLI function activated, the image start to deteriorate showing me a really low quality image and color, and the screen begin to flash with some green tones, but only when im inside a game, watching videos or a blu ray doesn't show this behaviour, I've already uninstall the drivers and reinstalled again, the issue persist, I've tried every game I own, then I tried switching the cards of place, the second became the first and the first became the second, the issue It's now gone, trying one card at a time didn't show this weird behaviour either, only when SLI it's activated the problem appears, right now the configuration I have seams ok, but I don't know if this is gonna come back, should I try sending the card who showed the problem at first to RMA? I tried three different drivers: 353.49 353.62 355.60 and the three showed this weird image deterioration but only when I activate the SLI feature I also tried with different ports HDMI, DVI and Displayport, this doesn't seams to be part of the problem. I'm out of ideas about this matter, any help will be appreciated. Cheers My PC Specs: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate64 bit CPU: Intel 5930K 4.4ghz OC custom loop water cooled 45 to 50 degrees under load MOBO: Asus Rampage V extreme RAM: 16 GB DDR4 Corsair vengeance not OC 2666 mhz VGA: 2X SLI Gigabyte G1 980 Ti running at stock speeds HD: WD 7200 RPM 1TB PSU: EVGA super nova 1000 watts DIsplay: ROG swift 144hz 1440p and a HP slim 1080p Hope you can help me, cheers ED: I totally forgot to put the Vbios version of each card. Actual configuration: Top card: 84.00.36.00.6D Bottom card: 84.00.32.00.68 Configuration when the problem showed up: Top card: 84.00.32.00.68 Bottom card: 84.00.36.00.6D I really curious about the disparity for the Vbios version on each card, could this be the source of this problem?

/\ That is what I and many others would appreciate more of... Me and many others who are getting our parts for our builds put together usually ask the age old question... which Non-Reference card is best? So I was going to build a 1000$ PC and wanted to know which 970 Non-Reference was best... Lots of people ask it and there aren't a lot of good even benchmarks directly comparing them for example the: MSI TWIN FROZR V, EVGA FTW ACX 2.0, the EVGA SC ACX 2.0, the ASUS STRIX, the Zotac AMP, the Gigabyte, and some others (and the reference). Linus and other readers just tell me don't you really think knowing the best Non-Reference card for most popular cards would be so so helpful, Linus we know you have the cards and we know you and Luke are great at comparing them and helping answer it. So please make comparison videos on the Non-Reference popular cards. Today its 3/30/15 and some popular cards that have loads of different Non-Reference boards include the 980, 970, 960, 290x, 290, 285, 280. Generally those cards comparing would help clear up the confusion I know you already did some but doing all common cards helps a whole lot Thanks So Much, Needy BTW PLEASE ALWAYS SHOW DIFFERENCE IN THEIR FPS SO WE KNOW WHICH IS BEST PLEASE

So, I just read this: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/810641/good-news-347-52-drivers-have-improved-performance-on-the-gtx-970s-vram-/ New drivers improving performance? It seems it still craps itself with sli but somehow works with a single card? I was about buying one of these anyway but now I'm confused, wasn't it supposed to be a hardware problem???? Wat. Can someone confirm this here? The thing I'm mostly concerned about: will the price go up now that it works(if it works)? Thanks for your time. Have a nice day c:

Hey all, I actually just made a thread like this for Nvidia cards, however I am also considering these 2 cards from Team Red. I've already got my verdict from the other thread, so I'll try to see which card wins here. I'll then narrow it down from there. Anyway, i'm planning on building building a new PC soon. I've already got everything else on my parts list ready, aside from the GPU. I was planning on going with an R9 390X (If I went with AMD) for my build, as it seemed to be the best card for my price range. However, I was recently looking on eBay and it seems that HD 7990s are going for around $250, and that seems like a steal to me. Now, I know what you are thinking in your heads: "They will set ur house on fire and use as much powr as a Nuclear plant!1! also, crossfireX doesnt work properly.,.,. ". For one thing, I could care less about power consumption. As long as it doesn't consume 3000 watts or something, it'd be fine. As for the temperature, I don't think that would be a big concern. According to most sites, it reaches about 80°C under load, which isn't TOO bad. It probably would be cooler for me, as I keep my house set to about 21°C, and I also plan on having maximum air cooling in my case. I've heard that there were some problems with CrossfireX scaling, however I believe that is 99% fixed in the latest drivers. I know the R9 390X will be faster and more efficient then the HD 7990, but is it worth the extra $180-$200? They both support DirectX12 and can max all games at 1440p. My only concern is VRAM. The R9 390X has 8GB of it, so I'd be fine with that card. However, while the HD 7990 has 6GB of VRAM, only 3GB of VRAM is useable per card. thus it has 3GB of VRAM. I plan on gaming with a triple monitor setup (5670x1080p), so one concern is whether the HD 7990 would suffice for gaming at that resolution. It's a little more then half the price of the 390X, but if won't game at that resolution I can't buy it. Suggestions would be great.

source: http://digitimes.com/news/a20150729PD219.html --- no wonder ... the low end graphic cards were replaced by AMD's APUs and Intel's CPUs with Integrated Graphics as I previously noted here, the low-end graphic cards market may be in serious danger of becoming obsolete
