I am trying to buy parts for a new pc, When I search online, there are multiple prices for same graphic card like 1070 or 1080. Is higher price the better one or is just a brand or size difference ?

I have a workstation with the following config, Lenovo D20 board 2x Xeon X5670 16 GB RAM Quadro 600 And I know Quadro 600 is a bad choice of card for the setup, but thats what I could really afford. I recently started using Unreal Engine 4 to learn game development and I've noticed that most of the times the memory is filled up. The 1 GB memory is less and since I run a monitor off it, some memory is used there as well. I have an old spare Quadro FX 1500 (actually a bunch of them) lying around. Can I use it to drive my monitor and Quadro 600 to render/ do the rest of the work. I have a dual boot setup of win 10 and ubuntu 16.04

Hi everyone, I am new to Linus Tech Tip and I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am in the market to buy a new graphic card a currently have a Sapphire R9 280 (3GB) graphics card and I am in the market to upgrade GPU. One of the cards that I have been that is with in my budget is the ASUS RX480 (4GB) graphic card from a local tech company. The specs of the card look good and the power issue seem to have been sorted out. However the main reason behind this post is that I am very much into streaming and making game play videos of all different types of PC games. So I am wondering if anyone on here that has experience with this card using it for game streaming and recording? - DamoDGC

So I am looking to stick a UEFI graphics card into my Motherboard, which only have support for Bios based boot method... what can possibility go wrong? Now to be more specific in my case I am trying to stick a Sapphire Nitro RX 580 in to a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard (with a Q9550). I know it will be CPU bottleneck-ed regardless if I overclock the Q9550 or not, but I am waiting to see if Ryzn will finally dethrone Intel and or Nvidia, before I go for a 100% Red or a Green and Blue build. (Plus you bet I had been waiting for Intel's 10nm processor for way too long, and the games I played aren't really CPU heavy...) Anyway, I didn't think about it too much but I noticed the "BIOS support" for Sapphire Nitro RX 580 only listed "UEFI", and I know the grand daddy P45 only knows BIOS... so will they talk to each other? I done a bit Google-ing but only found a few instance that someone else have issues with Sapphire RX cards, however other users reported their RX580 worked fine with legacy motherboard... If someone is currently using a Sapphire RX 580 on a legacy board, please give me some confidence. Otherwise I might just go back looking for a 970 or something like that... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe this is the beginning of the end for the legacy BIOS...

Hi All, I'm thinking of upgrading my monitor to this nice looking monitor "ASUS PG349Q UWQHD 120hz G-Sync IPS 34in Monitor" My current build consists of GTX 970 in SLI. an i5-4690k with an accompanying microATX motherboard of that generation. now, to run games (Far Cry, the new Borderlands, Witcher, the new tomb raider) in 3440x1440 at over 60FPS (around 100 would be better, after that I can't really tell the difference) I think 970 SLI is probably not good enough? I'm thinking of upgrading to a second hand 1080ti or something in that range, and pretty sure that should do the job would my cpu be a bottleneck for these games? don't want to start upgrading the cpu/mobo/ram that's almost the entire computer. would you reccomend any other Nvidia gpu for what I'm trying to achieve? many thanks in advance. Ray

There appears to be an issue with windows 10 (mostly running x64) and the drivers for AMD Radeon R9 series cards. https://community.amd.com/thread/230393 sadly no matter any work around I have tried, if the driver updates it proceeds to give a “Black screen of death” causing the system to lock up, and when rebooted will hang Win 10 at boot. The card works just fine in safe mode, and when no driver is installed. Installing driver direct from AMD does not fix problem either.

Hello everyone, I'm building myself a new editing/gaming rig. I'm not interested into overclocking and spending money isn't problem here. If there is better/faster rig with i9-9900k and RTX 2080Ti, can you please advise so? Components: CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K CPU COOLER: Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H150i PRO FANS: Corsair LL120 Node PRO x6 MOTHERBOARD: Asus ROG Maximus XI Extreme GRAPHIC CARD: Asus GeForce RTX 2080Ti ROG Strix Gaming OC 11GB MEMORY: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 64 GB DDR4-3200 POWER SUPPLY: Corsair AX1000 80+ Titanium M.2: 2x Samsung 970 Pro NVMe 1TB SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SOUND CARD: Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 SPEAKERS: Audioengine A5+ 150W MONITOR: 2x Dell AW2518H G-Sync 240Hz 1ms So, my main concern is that 64 GB of RAM would affect performance? Should that be a problem? Which case would be the best fit for E-ATX mobo as Maximus XI Extreme? Is Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3200 good enough? Should I consider something else? Thank you.

I currently have a FE GEFORCE GTX 1070 but a friend is selling 2 new in package Radeon 7970. My rig has a ryzen 5 2600. Should I stuck with the 1070, or would I get better performance with dual 79790s?

Hello everyone, I am having a rather weird but very annoying problem with my trusted Asus Strix RX480 (8GB) graphics card. I have owned it for about 2 years and not really had a problem with it until the last few days. Within the last few days, my long awaited upgrades that I have been saving up for a while arrived. I have upgraded for an AMD FX 8300 (BLACK EDITION) to now rocking a Ryzen 7 1700, with an Asus Strix B350-F motherboard and Corsair Vengence 3000MHz DDR4 Ram (2x 8GB). However, since installing all the stuff and also installing my graphics card. Now I am unable to play certain games, such as Empire of the Undergrowth and other game such as that. I will start the game however, it will be very sluggish and laggy when scrolling over the world, also it will slowly ramp up the speed and power of the fans on the card to the point where you think that an aircraft is flying over. Then once it gets to full speed it will suddenly black screen, yet the game music and sound will still play. I have also tried to stress test the card, but I experience the same thing. The card is only two years old brought brand new from a local dealer. I haven't experienced this problem with this card before or in fact any graphics cards before. I would just hate to get a new card. Could anyone give me some tips on how to overcome is annoying issue? I have included a screenshot form speccy off my full system config.

So i bought this graphic card a week ago, it was slightly used but it's just like new (condition & performance wise both) and before buying it, i checked the card and everything was working excellent except the two leds on the top of the graphic card, the seller told me that it's manufacturing fault and isn't a big issue. it's been a week the card is working flawlessly but i was just wondering that could these leds damage other parts of the gpu or it's just normal? i'm a bit afraid because it's bothering me that it would affect my gpu's performance or anything. i can't RMA it. has anyone used or still using any gpu with led problem? has it got any other problems caused by these dead leds?

So today I was playing my game normally but suddenly it crashed so I had to open it again and again it crashed. For the third time when I was trying to open my game, the blue death screen showed up. I restarted my laptop and everything was fine and I opened the game without any crashes but I just think the game is running a little slower than how it did. Does it mean my gpu is slowly dying? I checked in control panel and I went to gpu drive and it said 'The decive is working properly." I'm not sure the game is really running slow or I'm just feeling it is slow. I'd be happy if you answer me.

Hello All, I have been recently having black screen technical difficulties, specifically when I launch any kind of game. It makes my monitor say no signal, and the fans start to whirr very loudly, and then it turns back on in a minute or so. I have never had this issue before, and am inexperienced when it comes to how to fix these simple problems. I would gladly appreciate a veteran helping me out in picking new hardware or fixing this issue. Hello After an unsuccessful attempt to contact with Linus Sebastian, I decided to put my topic on the forum. I am Piotr Pietras, the creator of the INNOVATIONAL GRAPHICS CARD COOLING SYSTEM and the Synergy Cooling company founder. First things first or the facts I constructed a cooling system prototype which I attached to EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 graphics card. The combined device occupies 3 slots in the computer housing. It is approximately 30 cm long and utilizes 2 fans. The main features that differentiate my construction from products offered currently by recognized producers are: 1. significantly lower temperatures of the graphics card the temperatures of the graphics card under full GPU load did not exceed 45°C at room temperature during tests whereas temperatures of the currently produced graphics cards usually reach the level of 70°C 2. higherwork comfort the level of noise during tests was at 37,5 dB while the fans were rotating at speed of below 1000 rpm 3. increasedgame efficiency graphics cards with Synergy Cooling system enable higher the clock speeds as well as overclocking margin Graphics cards utilizing my innovative cooling system are more efficient, generate less noise and temperatures they reach are on average 25°C lower than the best standard graphics cards available in the market. They are more quiet and cooler comparing to graphics cards with hybrid cooling, not to mention the lack of hoses or a radiator installed in the case. Last but not least, their efficiency and low temperatures are comparable to those offered by graphics cards with custom water block; however, do not require complex liquid cooling installation and should be considerably less exensive. My prototype graphics card cooling system is a ready-to-use solution. All you have to do is just take it out of the box and install in the housing to enjoy the benefits of high efficiency, low temperature and low noise offered today only by custom liquid cooling setups. The prototype of such GTX 1080 Ti graphics card does exist physically and is available for testing. The rough road to success The idea of theinnovative graphics card cooling system came to my mind already a couple ofyears ago. However, I had no resources nor physical possibilities to create a prototype to prove that solution really works. And it was not until some two years ago when the breakthrough took place. I managed to build a working prototype and several months ago I initiated a process aiming to reach leading industry players. My intention is to get an attention of the companies’ decision makers so that I could present my invention to them. Such companies like Nvidiaor AMD lead the industry and mark the way for its future development. However, despite my efforts I have not managed to break through with my invention to theright people. I feel as being ignored but I know that “a picture is worth a thousand words”. I have decided to carry a series of independent tests and produce a video showing the performance of the prototype graphics card cooling system while using both synthetic programs and games. However, it is not as easy as it seems as there are really few people in Poland having the knowledge of the subject and being credible at the same time. This is where I have to express my thanks to Jarek Arczyński of blackwhite.tv who conducted the test of my innovative cooling system and published the video presenting the invention and its amazing possibilities. The film is in Polish but has English subtitles. Having been thinking about my initial idea the cooling system and then building the prototype I have always been aware that it is crucial to secure my intellectual property rights. A patent application I prepared with patent attorney was submitted to the Polish Patent Office (UPRP) . However, this has been just the beginning of the long process. Now I have to extend the patent application to other territories, that is to the whole of Europe and the US. I hope that I will be able to interest you and Linus with my project and we will be able to talk about it and manage to conduct tests by Linus. Best regards Piotr Pietras Synergy Cooling

Hello internet, I need your assistance (sorry if this isnt in the right spot, this post didn't seem to fit in any category as it deals with VR and GPU/buying advice etc)! I have a decision to make, I want to get into VR but don't want to deal with being tethered in one spot, so when I saw the quest I got excited and thought this could be it, however the games are limited and are pricey so I got even more excited when the Oculus Link was announced so that I could play steam games that I own. This comes to my second issue, my PC isn't powerful enough to run VR with high FPS (link to userbenchmark w/specs Here). The games I would mainly be playing in VR would be Minecraft (vivecraft) and maybe VRchat with a few other misc ones thrown in as well as watching movies and the like. My question is this: I have saved up for the quest (64 gig version @ 400 bucks) but don't know if I should get the quest (when ever its even back in stock, could be a month from now or more due to delays) and play the native games/ try my luck on getting playable frames on my current setup, OR upgrade my GPU now for better performance overall (I was thinking 2060-2060 super? Open to suggestions on that too for around 400) and wait on getting the quest/wait for the next gen untethered VR headset to come out. So I turn to you, smart people of the forum to ask what I should do. Any advice would be appreciated! ~Fox

Hello, Recently my games have been crashing in a similar fashion. It starts with a semi checkered pattern and both my screens go black then turn back on with the game crashed. With destiny 2 it gives me a pop-up saying "Graphics runtime detected a crash or loss of device." I have uninstalled the drivers using DDU and reinstalled the lasted drivers to no avail. This wasn't happening at all yesterday and only this morning my only suspension is the most recent nvidia update. Any recommendations. Ryzen 5 2600 gtx 1060 6gb gigabyte b350

I am building a gaming pc for my roommate. I have gotten him a radeon rx nitro + 5700 xt, the computer is not freezing nor is the game crashing but it is freezing up temporarily during gameplay. the card has 2 8 pin pcie slots and i. Am using a 700w thermaltake psu, i suspect that its not getting enough power because the 2 8 pin pcie ports are split up on one cord. Does the card require 2 SEPARATE 8 pin cords?
