Hello everyone, I just finished to build my new gaming PC. Here are my specs : CPU : 7 7800X3D MB : X670E RAM : 6000 mhz / cl30 watercooler : 360 case : ATX format Power supply : 1300i msi pci 5.0 (had a very good deal) Monitor : Asus VG27A - 1440p - 144hz (I will upgrade to 4K in the future, during the end of 2024 or during 2025) And for GPU, I still have my 3060 12gb aorus because I haven't decided yet what to do ... between buying a 4080 super which is in france between 1109 to 1200 euros (the model I want is 1200 euros) or invest for long term and buy a 4090 for 600 euros more (4090 costs 1769 euros now the FE model on NVIDIA website). Or do I wait for 5000 series BUT the 5090 will cost and will be too much ... and the 5080 will come in like 1 year from now and will cost I guess arround 1300 dollars (so in france it will be 1400 euros almost as a 4090 now !!) and in terms of performance be almost equal to a 4090 (lose maybe a bit in raster power and win in Ray tracing, as leaks say). My aim is to play on ultra settings in all games with RT ON if possible. What would you suggest ? Thank you for your reply. Roman

Currently I have a Radeon RX 6700XT, It's treated me well over the past 3 years, but since then one of the bios' on it has been corrupted, and I fear that either the new 24.3.1 driver update may have either corrupted it again (Given I did a driver roll back and it keeps crashing contently) or just doesn't like the second bios on the card. Even before it worked it didn't seem to like my games very much hovering around 90-100 fps(Mostly HZD and HFW) in 1440p gaming. It wouldn't be too big of a deal for me, but my boyfriends computer sits right next to mine and I just bought him a 7800XT and gaming looks amazing for him. (Even if that's because he plays 4k 60locked) Would upgrading to a 7900 GRE be worth it? The last upgrade I did was moving from the RX 580 to the 6700XT.

I was just wondering if anyone has had to replace a Zotac card's thermal paste due to terrible temps. It's been 3 years and 4 for me, all preforming 20 to even 30c cooler with Artic Silver applied instead. I knew Zotac was a cheap brand but jesus christ do they have planned obsolescence down. I'm thinking about buying a 3060 card from them, mistake or coincidence?

3060 Ti + i5 10400f build, Performance problems. **Status:** Unresolved **Computer Type:** Custom Build Pc **GPU:** Galax Nvidia 3060 ti (1 Click OC) **CPU:** Intel i5 10400f **Motherboard:** Asus h510m-k **RAM:** 2x8 Crucial 3200mhz Capped to 2666mhz because cpu doesn't support 3200mhz [16 gb in total] **PSU:** Gigabyte P650B 650W **Main drive [OS Drive]** 250 Gb lexar SSD **Secondary [Games drive]** 500 Gb WD HDD **Operating System & Version:** Windows 10 Pro Version 23H2 **GPU Drivers:** GRD 551 **Description of Problems** Low fps in Almost All Games! Stutters making games unplayable, extreme fps drops, computer is laggy even when opening files, sometimes crashing (explorer.exe has stopped responding) being slow in literally everything, gpu usage drops lower than cpu while in games causing low fps. Games that have problems are: Doom eternal, Resident evil 4 Remastered, Fortnite, Elden Ring, GTA Troligy Remaster. No clear reason, temps are fine (no 80 degrees and higher) no clear mining running, haven't run anything sketchy There are some other minor problems: I noticed that when moving the mouse the pc makes coil whining sounds [ONLY WHEN MOVING THE MOUSE] and weirdly only in the desktop, tried lowering mouse reporting hz, didn't help, also gpu clock speeds and usage vary when in use, gpu usage drops lower than cpu causing massive stutters and clock speeds are flunctioating under load. Also speakers, headphones make electrical noises, weird high pitch noise whenever it's plugged in, even when browsing [unrelated probably, ground loop?] Tried : Ddu to clean install drives, reverting nvidia drivers to version 537.58 (as recommended by others), resetting nvidia control pannel settings, turning off game mode, hardware acceleration, gpu scheduling, xbox game bar, moving games to ssd, none worked Haven't tried : clean install of windows, don't have any spare parts to try incase a part is broken. Note that i ran stable diffusion [ai art] on the pc, Although i did with keeping temps low and with power limits, could it have killed the gpu or any part?

Hi guys, I need some help here! In Japan, GPUs are usually 5-10% more expensive than in the state. I have an opportunity to travel to US very soon, so I'm considering using the chance to upgrade my GPU. Now, I have two opinions. One is that I found an all-new PowerColor Liquid Devil AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT, which is going for around $680 in Japan. My PC is already an open-loop, so this could be a nice fit. Another option is to buy an RTX 4070TI after I arrive in the US, which is also in the $650-$700 range (according to Newegg). Or I could go for an RTX 4070TI SUPER while I can buy it cheaper. My main display is 1440p 144hz with a 1080p secondary, and I'm staying at 2K for the foreseeable future, but I may upgrade to a 240hz display. I play e-sport games like Seige and AAA games 50/50 of the time. The question is 1) Which GPU should I go for? 2) How much difference is the performance between 6950 XT, 4070TI, and 4070TI SUPER? 3) If I choose RX 6950 XT, is it necessary to use 3 6-pin PCI-E power to run it, or is it optional? Any suggestions are welcome, and please correct me if I'm wrong about the GPU price in the state.

So I've basically already decided on the 6800 but I wanted to hear what some of you guys think and if maybe I should go for the 6800xt instead and or if the 6700XT and 6800 are so comparable it that I should go with the cheaper one. As far as I know the 6800 is better than the 6700XT by quite a bit.

Hey there I have the following issue: When I boot up my PC and start playing a game or run a benchmark my results/FPS are lower than the average for the hardware. When I restart the PC and try the same things everything runs as expected. If I put the PC to sleep and then wake it up and try again my performance is worse just like in the first scenario. Some concrete numbers: 3D Mark TimeSpy for GPU score specifically runs at about 24-25k when performance is lower and at 28k when everything works fine (after a restart) Red Dead Redemption 2 - in the bad scenarios I get about 100-110 FPS average, in the good scenario I get about 160-170 FPS Specs: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB 6000Mhz RAM, RTX 4080 SUPER The issue is GPU only, my CPU score when running TimeSpy stays the same in all 3 scenarios while the GPU runs well only after a restart. I've tried both DDU and fresh windows install, fast boot is off in both windows and bios. I've attached two images of a bad scenario after an initial bootup and a good scenario after I restart the PC.

I have a RTX 2060 and I was wondering if mounting it vertically vs horizontal is better for performance. I know that the traditional way is horizontal but if vertical is better and gives better performance then that's an easy and cost effective fix

Hello everyone, I have a Phillips 499P9 32:9 5120x1440p monitor. For gaming I like to scale it down to 2560x1440p in the middle of the monitor with black space on the sides. Up until now I had a GTX1070 and if there was a problem with the game scaling properly, I could go to the OSD Menu of the monitor and force an aspect ratio there. I recently upgraded to XFX Swift RX6800 and the aspect ratio option in the monitor does not work. The menu item is still there but it is not active and cannot be selected. This kinda sucks because I bought the GPU for 1440p gaming and if the game scaling does not work properly (e.g. like in Witcher 3) I am forced to use the whole monitor, requiring the GPU to push something like 80% of 4k. I tried various combinations (both global and per-game) of scaling settings in the AMD adrenaline app but they seem to have no effect at all. Can anyone here advise, whether I should look for some specific setting that would give the aspect ratio control back to the monitor? I'm starting to think that this whole foray to AMD was an error and that I should be a man and go back to nvidia. Thank you.

Hello i need help! my computer is a prebuilt msi nightblade mi3, With a I5-8400, 16 gb DDR4, 350 watt psu, and i have just changed gpu to a 3050 8gb from 1060 3gb, My games keeps crashing. I have tried Assasins creed valhalla it crashes on high settings but works well on medium. I have tried assasins creed odyssey it works well on high settings but not on very high, and i have tried warzone and its crashing when shaders are at like 50%, i have also tried overwatch 2 wont crash, also tried fortnite it also wont crash! I know the suggested PSU for 3050 are 550 watt, but my prebuilt is very small and i dont have many opitions, i am not very good at computers as well, my budget is very limited. Does it crash because of bad PSU or that my cpu is bottleneck, Cpu is at 100% when i play does Games! Thanks for help!

Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT GAMING OC 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card https://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-radeon-rx-7600-xt-gaming-oc-16gb-gddr6-ray-tracing-graphics-card-rdna3-2048-streams-2810mhz XFX AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT Speedster SWFT 210 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card https://www.scan.co.uk/products/xfx-radeon-rx-7600-xt-speedster-swft-210-16gb-gddr6-ray-tracing-graphics-card-rdna3-2048-streams-275 Would both of them work with my motherboard which is a Asrock b450 steel legend atx am4 motherboard which is pcie 3 though.

Hello, I am just wondering if my gpu is at a safe temp while gaming. It normally averages around 85 - 89 degrees when gaming. Now I have repasted the gpu however it has just not gotten any cooler. Now it is an asus rx 580 8gb and a dual card so I'm not so overly worried but I need this card to last me an extra 5 months and it has been with me for a while nearly everyday so it's been through what I say 'discomfort'. So my question is, is is this a safe temperature and last me a little longer. I've had it about 4 years and apparently gpu's only last 3-5 years so I'm worried is 85-89 degrees celsuis safe? (185-192 Fahrenheit)

Recently I encountered a weird issue with Firefox renderer I believe. I know that this should probably need to be addressed by the Firefox community, but I believe this forum is a good start and way more active than Mozillas. When I start playing a video on youtube it causes GPU spikes at over 60% utilization. If I kill that process, firefox restarts it with way less GPU usage, more in line with normal behaviour, at ~20%. Chrome allways uses way more GPU so that's why I'm sticking with Firefox. The graphics drivers are updated to the latest version both in Intels driver utility and in ASUS's updater. (it's a ASUS Vivobook notebook with I5 11300H and Nvidia 3050). I'm leaving here a unlisted youtube video for you to observe the behaviour. Feel free to give me any suggestion on this issue and also repost it or give a headsup to Mozilla if you have any contacts with them. OBS Screen recording

Hi everyone, I have noticed that while I am watching videos on Youtube the memory usage increases of my GPU (NVIDIA RTX 3070 8gb). See Attached Image. I googled about this and I found out it has something to do with "Use hardware acceleration when available" in Mozilla Firefox. I also read somewhere that disabling this will increase load on the CPU (Intel i5-12400) instead of GPU. So which option is better? Is it better to put load on GPU while watching videos or live streams? Which option will lower the overall power consumption?

Hello everyone, Yesterday I bought a second hand EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3070 from a guy I know. He sent me a video of it working prior to me buying it. I have no reason to not believe in him. Before this purchase I had a gtx 1080 on my pc which worked fine. Sometimes the pc would randomly shut down, but I gave that up to regular windows shenanigans... I have already done somewhat extensive troubleshooting and have narrowed things down. With this post I'm just setting myself up in case of either two things. 1 I missjudge something and have not proceded in a correct way or 2 I have done everything that i could have and it's either a problem of the psu or the card. I will know provide you with a list of specs and a list of the things i've done to try and remediate the current situation. PC SPECS i5 11400f with aio 16GB DDR4 corsair platinum ram - XMP 1 3200MHz GTX 1080 / RTX 3070 Gigabyte B560M Aorus Elite M-ATX Motherboard 80+ Bronze 700W Kolink PSU (Don't quite know the exact model, but those are correct specs) (Recommended psu Watts for the 3070 is 650 btw) 2 Sata SSD's one is 1tb, and the other is the boot drive with 512gb capacity Windows 11 Home - activated Troubleshooting First i ran ddu with all its recommended settings, but without being in safemode and without unplugging the ethernet; (Which I realized later might have been a mistake that led to my current situation) After running ddu and asking it to automatically shut down, i plugged in the 3070 and it gave me no display. I tried all ports (1 hdmi and 3 DP), none gave me a signal, but everything was as it should except for the fact that it did not give me image. My thoughts were this might be a psu problem because of the random shutdowns and whatnot, but now i don't think so as i've found the correct way to use DDU which i will be doing once again when i get home from work. Other solutions were, using two separate pcie cables, because before i was using a single one to power my 8+6 Pin 1080. This was so because my psu has two separate pcie cables, both with dual 8 pin ends. I think you get what i'm saying if not, just let me know and ill try to explain better. Unfortunately this did not work. RTX 3070 needs 2 8 pin pcie cables fyi. I then plugged in my 1080 but this time with the two different pcie cables instead of just one with the dual 8 pin. This worked on my 1080 so the cables were not the issue. I also tried a cmos flash with a screwdriver, which also did not work. After that i tried formatting my pc with a bootable usb. Whilst inside the windows 11 configuration i was obviously using my 1080, and i had the ethernet plugged in so it grabbed drivers for that. After the configuration i shut down the pc and tried the 3070, to no avail. So i think that narrows it down to a faulty utilization of the DDU program. When I get home I will use it correctly in safe mode and will be unplugging the ethernet. Also, I will download rtx 3070 drivers beforehand, just in case something weirds out idk. Let me know if this is the correct approach or if i am missing something. I will update this post once i have tried this. Have you any other suggestions? Thanks for taking the time! UPDATE 1 So, I will have the card brought to a pc repair shop in my local area so they can plug it in and tell me if it's workng or not. The guy from the shop has told me that he does not think it's a psu issue, as, even though the psu might not be the best, it should be able to handle the card in a low usage environment i.e booting up the system. Because it does do just fine with the gtx 1080 I have which, according to him, does pull more power to turn on compared to an rtx 3070, so that somewhat excludes the psu as a problem. UPDATE 2 Card works, as per the pc repair shop. Issue is most definetely with the psu. Case closed.

I’m thinking of upgrading from an AMD RX580 2048SP (a China only SKU, thank you eBay) and I found a used “Like new” RTX 2060 Super on Amazon for $270 CAD ($200~ USD) And I was wondering if it was a good price for it? And if it’s an actually good upgrade. Thanks in advance!

The other day i bought a used PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT. When playing games, especially at high frame rates and in game menus i hear a coil wine coming from my GPU and it's really annoying. I tried lowering the voltage to 1060mV and capping the frame rate to 140fps (bellow my monitor native refresh rate) and the noise does get lower but i can still hear it to the point of it annoying me just enough. The only culprit for this problem can be my PSU which is Chieftec ECO 700W GPE-700S https://www.chieftec.eu/products-detail/118/ECO_SERIES/122/GPE-700S It's an European PSU that focuses on power efficiency and saving energy and it's a brand that hardly any Americans have even heard of. I was thinking of buying a new more expensive PSU like the Corsair RM850e, which is not only Fully-Modular, but also has two different PCI-E cables unlike mine which only came with one. I've heard people saying that plugging two (6+2) pins from two different PCI-E cables does help with lowering coil whine noise. Also on the PowerColor website it does say that the "Minimum Recommended PSU" for their RX 6800 XT is 850W. So it's maybe mine fault for not talking that seriously. So, what are your thoughts? I don't want to end up buying a 100$ more expensive PSU just to have the same coil whine noise again. That's why i need yours reassurance! The rest of my specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 MB: MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max RAM: HyperX Predator 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200 PSU: Chieftec ECO 700W GPE-700S

I feel this might be an easy one. Are ok if PSU pcie/vga cables are touching the GPU? Right now Im switching to a 7800xt, since this is a bigger card the second cable is touching some parts of the gpu. Added pic. Recently (within a week) my primary monitor (asus VG34VQL1B) Its connected via displayport to my rtx 3060 ti. It only happens on the primary monitor, and not the second. I have chnaged cpu, mbo, and ram. It did not change it.
