I'm currently choosing between iPhone 11 and Google Pixel 5. Both costs around 750 USD here in Sweden. I use both iPhones and Android phones and have no preference when it comes to iOS and Android. I'm planning to use this phone for the next 4 years or so. Which one do you think has a better battery life, and which one has a better camera?

So I just got the Surface Duo and I am really liking it so far, except for one little thing: How do I swap out the M365 feed for the Google one? (the little news feed you get when you swipe from the left on the home screen) There was someone on Reddit who claimed they did it, but they're not answering. Hopefully you guys can help me figure it out. Thanks in advance! Much Love <3

Are there any good stock, pure and clean Android phones beside the Google Pixel?

Common Questions: *Any virus or spyware found post install? (NO, checked with Malwarebytes, Dr.webs & Kaspersky) *Firmware might have to be downgraded on late batch phones? (that is indeed a maybe) *GMS works and can safely be updated? (YES, just search for it in browser and let it send you to the right place in the play store) *Google Payment system named Google Pay. (NO, Google has aditional security features so that is a no go...) *Severe bugs or glitches? (Nothing yet but I have been looking deliberately!) Firmware downgrade (only if method above fails)

Summary The US Department of Justice is suing Google over monopolizing it’s power with internet searches. This is part of an investigation that has been going on for some time. If this suit follows through and wins, this can hurt Google’s advertising business. Quotes My thoughts This is a very bold step of the US government to do on Google. As we heard a few days ago, this may break up Google by them having to sell parts of their business, i.e. Google Chrome, YouTube. I don’t know if this is going to be better or worse but we will have to see what goes down in this lawsuit. My child recently came home with a sites.google.com/.. URL for "unblocked games". What are the risks of allowing this? Can't run a whois since the site is in effect a subfolder. Did run the full URL through virustotal.com - to an "all clear" result. None of the footer contact requirements are enforced. Any insight would be appreciated. Searches for "malicious unblocked games" and variations thereof yield no results. Could be benign as someone making ad revenue by hosting scripted ports of games.. Or it could be a lot worse.

Google has woken up them their daydream. Daydream VR software is no longer supported, officially announced via Google's support page for Daydream VR, ciitng that there will be no more software nor security updates for any Daydream device. This comes after Google announced Android 11 as its latest Android operating system update, with Google abruptly ending its own virtual reality project. This also comes after Google had initially lost support from Hulu as well as removing the Play Movies & TV app for its Daydream headset, it was clear from these two feature shavings that the Daydream was evitably a dead-end project. Google does cite that third-party apps and experiences within Daydream have a possibility of being available as standalone apps in the Play Store, but cannot guarantee these apps to work properly on some devices running Android 11, or in the future, even later evolutionary Android versions. Additionally, Google has noted that the Daydream View headset and controller will still be available for use with VR content, however, the Daydream View headset is officially no longer on sale. VR can be fun, and I occasionally take out my Desktek VR headset for use with my Samsung S20 in 1440p mode, VR is definitely not for everyone, and especially with how limited Daydream was and/or became in its later state, it's understable Google decided to axe another one of its products. VR is a very niche market and Google has clearly had enough of integrating into a market that has very little room for growth. Source: Google

Summary According to a large Indian media Publication, there are rumors that the Government is planning to launch it's own app store as alternative to Google and Apple's app stores. According to the news report, the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology's centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) will be responsible for developing it. Also rumored: It will not take the 30% cut for app hosting. Quotes My thoughts India has entered the internet market later than many countries, and is now finding a way to centralize it, and get away from antitrust by taking matters in their own hand. Also, the Govt. has seen the potential for Ai and other emerging fields, and wants to serve as the incubator for such projects, and is thus trying to make it's own market free of US tech giants hands. Also, this means they have more control over the data of their citizens. According to Home Depot’s internal systems, Google’s “Sabrina” Android TV dongle is going to have a price much more affordable than anyone expected. Currently, the product is listed at just $49.99, well below the cost of the current Chromecast Ultra and just $15 above the third-gen Chromecast. It also directly matches the price of both the Roku Streaming Stick+ and the Amazon Fire TV Stick. We also found a since deleted listing for “Sabrina” on Home Depot’s website, still held within Google Cache. Beyond the price of “Sabrina,” we can also see that Google is planning to release three different colors of its Android TV dongle. “Rock Candy” and “Como Blue” imply that “Chalk” and “Sky” colors from Nest Mini could make their way over to this product. “Summer Melon,” on the other hand, implies some shade of pink that we’ve actually seen in some previously leaked marketing materials. It’s expected that “Sabrina” will make its debut alongside the Pixel 5, 4a 5G, and new Nest Speaker at an upcoming Made by Google event. The product is also expected to launch a new version of Android TV known as “Google TV” which has a redesigned UI including YouTube TV and Nest integration. It’s also expected to offer a programmable button on its included remote. Source From https://9to5google.com/

I F'd up. I dont know exactly what I did, or how to fix it. The secret technique of using google, and other search engines, to searh for a solution has failed me thus far. My goal is to avoid factory resetting the phone if possible. The Device: Oneplus 6 Adroid 10 Oxygen OS 10.3.5 Not Rooted The Problem: While playing with the ability to disable/forcibly stop apps and clearing un-needed application cache/storage, I seem to have broken anything related to google. Maps, Drive, Docs, Gmail, Chrome, App Store, Google Play Services, and anything with a "login with google" option, all buffer infinitely or crash. This is exclusively on my personal phone, as I can use the account perfectly on my work phone, desktop, and laptop. (All on the same network, wired/wireless.) (Cannot use the work phone as a daily driver, it is a fab phone) Some of these applications will inform me that "there was a problem communicating with google servers" (google play services), or that there is no internet connection, when there is certainly an internet connection (google maps). Attempted Solutions: Yes, I tried rebooting. After each attempted solution, rebooting is something I have done. Settings > Apps and Notifications > See All Apps > 3 Dots on the top right > Reset App Preferences > Reset Apps App preferences were confirmed to have been reset. Did not work, even after reboot. Google Play Store started working for a short time, and I updated all apps to the most recent versions. Then it stopped working after reseting app preferences. I can still access the front page of the store, but going to "My Apps and Games", or anything under the 3 bar menu in the top left, causes it to buffer infintely. Cleared Cache and storage of all google related applications. Removing/Adding google accounts: Every time I try to add or remove a google account under: Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google (non google related accounts can be added perfectly fine) Settings > Accounts > select existing account > Remove Account It returns me to the "Accounts" menu and freezes the settings application. It magically removed my secondary and tertiary google accounts from the phone, one day after I tried to delete them. I have yet to remove my primary acccount, due to my inability to add it back. Last Ditch Effort: I am not phone person, so any advice at this point would be most appreciated. I do not want believe googles help pages, which say resetting my phone is the only option left. Help me LTT Forums. You're my only hope.

For about as long as I can remember, I've had issues with Google Chrome lagging on my laptop. I have tried all of the generic advice out there online like reinstalling, disabling hardware acceleration, smooth scrolling. Incognito mode is barely any faster, so I doubt it has anything to do with my Chrome extensions. Other browsers work just fine. It is only Chrome. I haven't noticed anything unusual about hardware usage. Chrome isn't pegging the cpu or hogging the ram any more than one would usually expect. Also, Chrome runs much better on my old i5 4690k build, so I doubt it has anything to do with hardware, but here are the specs on my Dell XPS 15 9570: Intel Core i7 8750H @ 2.20 GHz (4 GHz turbo) GTX 1050 Ti max q 16 GB DDR4 @ 2667 MHz (4k 15 inch display) I think I included all of the relevant details, but feel free to let me know if y'all need to know anything else. I'm super curious if y'all have any ideas. Thanks in advance. EDIT: it is worth noting, the lag is not "uniform." For example, lttstore.com lags a lot worse than linustechtips.com, but there is no evidence that my hardware resources are unable to keep up with more lively webpages.

Summary The Australian government agency the Australian Competition & Consumer Commision (ACCC) has stepped into the Epic/Apple/Google fray. The ACCC has the power to force Apple to allow other in-app payment platforms. This is one of the early steps of this happening. Quotes My thoughts Just like the right to repair movement, only one major government needs to legislate the changes for it to affect how Apple and Google operate. Please i need help. I wanted to vonnect this forum account with my twitter and google account, but actually can't due to myself accidentally trying to sign in with both of them. And now those 2 accounts are stuck with the accounts that i didn't intentionally make. I was wondering if there is a solution for this, or mayba the mods and administrators can help me fix this issue. Thank you.

What exactly stops Huawei from releasing honor or make a new company under a new name and let them sell non-Google verified Android devices exactly? (if not mistaken there are plenty of tiny brands all across Asia)

Summary Google has started to roll out updates to its very popular navigation software, Google Maps. The first, most noticeable update is the new color-mapping algorithm. As you can see from the image above, the colors on the updated maps are more vibrant and it is much easier to see the different features. If you want more comparisons, go to The Verge (linked below). This will be coming to all users in the coming weeks. The other update is more detailed streets. You will now be able see more precise locations and other street features like crosswalks and pedestrian islands. Take a look at the image below to see some changes. This will start in New York, San Francisco, and London in the next few months and eventually to all cities around the world. Quotes My thoughts Nothing too major but it is cool to see how detailed they can get these maps. Im guessing the updated streets will take many years to reach every city but will hopefully come to most major ones in a year or two. It really is cool to see how much more detail they can get in these maps without even needing to change the satellites used. The difference is very much visible and all it took was a new algorithm (even if it was likely very complex). Sources The Verge CNN

Summary New Laws in Australia have forced Google to change the way Google and YouTube work, including the possibility of handing user data over to big news businesses. Quotes My thoughts Google has gone out and highlighted the terms "search", "at risk", and "hurting" which shows how Google, and the I personally feel about this. This will have a massive negative impact on how the government, and other organisations can control what we consume and have access to. Google Play Music being retired - YouTube Music replacing the service by end of 2020. Quotes Need my library to transfer fully to see what the experience is like on mobile - not sure if it's comparable or not yet. The transfer process is simple - click a button and then wait for it to complete (you do NOT need to sit and wait, will be done in the server background). Purchases will no longer be allowed in 30 days, all pre-orders canceled & store is shutting down. Image is an email I received today.

Summary After only 9-10 months after its release, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smart phones have been discontinued. They are out of stock on Google's US store (but the Pixel 4 is still available on their fi network) and slowly running out of stock in international markets. The phones were considered huge flops so it is not surprising they were pulled with the release of the new phones. What is surprising though is Google did not wait for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G to be available (rumored for October 8th). However, the recently launched Pixel 4a which costs only $350 ($450 less than the Pixel 4 did) has basically the same specs, so not many Pixel 4s would have been sold anyways. This is the shortest amount of time that Google has kept a phone on the market at almost half of all the other Pixel phones. Quotes My thoughts I honestly think this was a smart move from Google. With the tiny number of sales of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL that would happen in the few months, it is probably more cost efficient for them to just discontinue the phones. I hope this means that the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G will be released soon than previously expected. Also, I am very done typing the word Pixel. Sources The Verge Engadget arstechnica notebookcheck
